There have been so many amazing things in the space that is currently Jac's Cafe. The most popular being an omg-amazing ice cream shop that only closed because the owners moved. With that in mind, Jac's is the only place that has ever stayed open in that spot since because they're the only place that can measure up.
I have never had a bad coffee, muffin, bagel, sandwich, wrap... ever.
Personally my favorite wraps are the Guacamole BLT, Mexican Chicken and Thai Chicken. Nom nom nom.
They have a ridiculous amount of coffee flavors but if you don't get there early enough they usually run out, especially the iced coffee.
I love Jac's for exactly what it is: fresh, local, a perfect example of the adorable little town I call home.Listed in: Eat like a Winthropian

You're still a favorite, Jac's, but for the love of god, please do something about those breakfast potatoes. The last few times I've been here, they've gone down like boiling hot shards of broken glass.

OMG best little local place around. The French Toast is 2" thick and you can't ever eat a full order, you have to get a 1/2 order which is still huge. They know me and my friend by heart and love when we walk in the know our order without us even speaking! Eggwhite omelet with onion, mushroom and spinach to DIE for! Potatoes are so crispy and yummy, I think they fry them in bacon fat which makes them all the more DELISH! Their muffins are huge and soooooo good! Line is OUT THE DOOR on Sundays

We were in revere and this seemed like one of the nicer brunch places nearby. The first impression is pretty humble, but whoa, delicious cheap breakfast! Really only breakfast staples were available, but they were done perfectly.
Wish it was closer to Cambridge. We'd be back often. -

I've passed by this place about a million times but shrugged it off as a bad beach ice cream parlor.
My sincerest apologies Jac's. Though you are tiny, you have a decent breakfast burrito, tasty fresh brewed iced tea, and very good prices. Also, the cashier was really smiley, which is always nice to see first thing in the morning.
I shall return! -

I LOVE JAC'S! As does most of the people in Winthrop. I can't believe this place hasn't been reviewed yet!
It's not an ice cream place - but a breakfast/lunch place. Opens at 6AM (I believe, it might be 6:30AM), and closes around 3PM. There's a counter where you can order your coffee/tea and breakfast - they have an enormous selection of iced coffee (my favorite being Snickerdoodle), and fresh baked muffins (and they also get a daily shipment of Grandpapa's Yogurt Muffins, which I looooove).
Get their french toast - it's seriously the best french toast I've ever had! They have a huge breakfast selection - filled with your standards (eggs, breakfast meats, eggs benedict, etc), and some of their own creations. My favorite is the "Mountain Muffin" - a toasted English muffin with... cream cheese, grilled ham, a fried egg, avocado, and melted cheddar cheese. It's DELICIOUS. When my brother was in town we'd order up plates of french toast and mountain muffins... and sides of bacon. It was AWESOME.
Go early during the weekends, as come 10AM everyone has the same idea and the line goes out the door for food. They have only about eight tables, so it's a small place, and it fills up fast. And since it's a "townie" breakfast joint, everyone knows everyone. And it's entertaining to watch. :) But go there every day for a week, and they'll recognize your breakfast order and coffee order soon enough (as they did with me when I was craving them every morning!).
They also do smoothies and sandwiches, which I've heard was good... I just can't bring myself to change my breakfast or ice coffee order. Why mess with a good thing if you don't have to? :)Listed in: Eating at the Entrance to the…

This place is awesome! The service is friendly, food is tasty and prices are super reasonable. We had the French toast($4.95 for three large delicious pieces) and eggs Benedict($5.95). We also tried the banana-hazelnut and the snickerdoodle iced coffees(around $2)-I recommend the snickerdoodle! Everything we had tasted great and the service was some of the best we had in Boston. If you're in the area, definitely try this place!

Based on reviews here, I decided to schedule Jac's as my breakfast place when my redeye landed. As a newbie to Boston, I wasn't sure where this exactly was. It's a little out east of Boston but not terribly so. We drove right past it, as I wasn't expecting such a little place but was rewarded by the great views of the Atlantic coast. We doubled back and was able to find the restaurant.
Parking was easy as there was a lot across the street. We got there around 7am, so there was only one table taken with a couple that came in right after us. The owner (I'm guessing it was the owner) was very nice and helped us figure out what to order, she even allowed us to charge up our iPhones while eating (they had ran out of juice trying to navigate around Boston). The whole place is pretty small, but it seemed like many the locals order "to-go", so seating wasn't too much of an issue.
You order at the counter and get your drink there and they bring you out your food (hot orders) while you're seated (if eating there). I ordered the mountain muffins with a plain iced coffee and my husband ordered Jac's breakfast burrito with a flavored coffee. Both were excellent. It's the kind of food that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :) It was the perfect start to our long weekend and we'll definitely go again the next time we're out there!
BTW, we met a couple of really nice cops that gave us some suggestions on sites to visit while out there. They, along with the owners, got a kick out of the fact that we found them on yelp. ;) -

great selections of coffee flavors. Banana Hazelnut iced coffee is delich!!!! their breakfast is also very tasty (eggs benedict) muffins... breakfast wraps - all great!! prices are good for the quality, employees are super friendly (& very busy all the time), its small and hard to find seating and hard to find no line once you walk in the door. come with cash, they do not take CC's - parking is avail. in the lot across the street or on the street itself. they do serve lunch but ive never gone for lunch. thet close at 2 or something so try to get there early,

This was a neat little place. Good sandwiches. They had a Reuben, and I haven't had one in a long time. You can definitely mess up a Reuben, but this looked like the kind of place that would do it right. And oh, it was. My boss and I decided to get the same thing, Reubens with chocolate milk, which ended up being a really good combination. We'll call it the William Pierce Combo from now on.
Next time I'm in Winthrop and I'm achin' for some good sandwiches, I'll come back and try their Monte Cristo, which also looked pretty dang fantastic. -

Love this place. Great coffee, great sandwiches, best muffins in Winthrop. Chocolate chip muffin is a favorite. Love the Jac's wrap for breakfast. Great breakfast sandwiches! Jac's Chicken wrap is also great for lunch! service is always nice, and they move fast for the small space that they have to work in.

I'd give this place 5 stars, but to be honest, I haven't eaten anything from here aside from the Jac's with bacon and a juice. From what I have seen, it's your basic breakfast/lunch place. It's smallish, but big enough to have about nine or ten 2-person tables to sit at. Their menu includes much of what you'd expect, but they also offer a wide range of smoothies.
Like I already mentioned, I get the Jac's with bacon. It's a decent-sized breakfast burrito with the basics, scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon. I would imagine that's pretty hard to screw up, but I really like it here, so there you have it. -

Here's what you do. You drive to Winthrop on a weekend morning, making sure that it's before 9 a.m. or so (to avoid the line, of course). You order the eggs florentine with a side of homefries, and an iced tea with lemon to wash it all down. You grab a seat and then you wait for your delicious breakfast to arrive at your table. And then you devour that stuff. And the eggs will be perfectly cooked. And there will be piles of fresh spinach, wilted, but not heated to death. And there will be pools of golden, velvety hollandaise sauce draped atop each muffin/spinach/egg creation. And you'll want to lick any leftover sauce off your plate. But you'll decide to dip your remaining homefries in it instead. All of this deliciousness will only run you about $8. You're welcome.

I know you're really not supposed to yelp a place where you are on close terms with the owners and the staff, but how many of you (myself included) have been forced to endure some horrible culinary "adventure" at a friend's place, where the food just aint no good (like Rapper's Delight) and you'd rather beg off an invitation citing a scorching case of herpes or a pesky inflamation of the throat, than sit through another tedious meal that aims for mediocrity? Well, this is definitely NOT the place.
When I lived in Revere, this was my usual Saturday or Sunday morning ritiual. We'd come early, grab a table, order something to soak up the booze from the night before, and gossip with the staff. Now that I'm banished to New Jersey - come on, we should have let the British keep it - I make it a point of making a breakfast visit here when I'm home, mostly because the food is always good, whether it be a burrito, an omelette, pancakes, french toast (a real treat) or the benedict - everything here is excellent, plus they keep the Tabasco on the table. The staff is cool: never knew them to have an attitude (and I don't know who works here that is from East Boston), but it is the type of place (be warned) that if you come with an attitude, the staff will not hesitate to call you out - they do a crazy business in here and they'd rather lose an arsehole customer than gain a headache, also because there are plenty of actual customers looking for a much sought after seat, so it's no loss. I will be back. -

Do not be discouraged by the name! Jac's Ice Cream Shoppe, as far as I could tell, doesn't serve a lick of ice cream. But based on reviews from other Yelpers, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place out for a quick breakfast.
It was pretty standard - they had a mix of eggs, egg sandwiches + burritos, muffins, french toast and pancakes. The place is very small but even with a packed house we didn't wait long for an open table. We tried the Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine - both were good. It was all around a positive new addition to our mix of local establishments to visit. And the biggest plus - it was cheap.
I was disappointed in the rudeness of the staff (c'mon, just cause you're from East Boston doesn't mean you need to be so gruff all the time). And probably cleaning the tables between customers would be a good idea but neither of these will prevent me from returning again.
A big plus was the beer/liquor store right across the Shoppe. I know - this sounds pathetic - but I was seriously glad I wouldn't have to make a beer run later that night! -

I was honestly pretty disappointed with my experience here. The coffee was decent, nothing special. I think in a world where Dunkin Donuts is the norm people get way too excited by meh coffee. It's better than DD but that isn't saying too much. My muffin was awful. Dry and just grainy and greasy with this weird stale grocery store cake taste. It was a creative flavor so maybe I just made not a great choice but I was starving and I threw it away. That bad. I will give them another shot to be fair. Maybe it was an off day.

I love a great bagel from time to time and hate those dun kin donuts type bread bagels. These bagels remind me true bagel company's that do old school bagels rather then just baked bread type bagels. Anyways, just wanted to comment, love the bagels as they are the only place in the area aside from Chelsea to get a decent bagel.

Winthrop has had a number of breakfast spots over the years and most of them are still thriving. Jac's trumps all of these spots. Relatively new on the scene, Jac's provides a number of quality options for breakfast and they also have great iced coffee. On top of this, they have a great lunch menu as well.
The only negative about Jac's is the seating. It is a tiny space so there are definitely times where you walk in and you have no option but to order something to go because every table is full. Other than that, Jac's is almost perfect. -

I go here most mornings for coffee. The girls all know me and my coffee order. The food is delicious and filling. It does tend to get crowded but go off peak and it is nice and quiet. They have the best french toast ever and will make your kids snowman or mouse pancakes. All you have to do is ask. The prices are great and the service is awesome.
