The WORST doctor/office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If there was a negative rating scale, Dr. Gail Jackson and her office would have the highest negative score. Here's how my 3 visits went:
Visit #1
1. 1 hour wait in the waiting room
2. Nurse had a hard time withdrawing my blood --missed 2 times, after that I was HELL NO! You're not going to stab me the 3rd time! Get me a freaking doctor to take my blood out! You incompetent nurse!
3. Doctor (not Dr. Jackson) succeeded and Dr. and Nurse leave
4. Wait 40 minutes in the examination room for Dr. to do the inspection --THEY TOTALLY FORGOT I WAS IN THE ROOM! They were celebrating a colleague's birthday! Seriously? You have patients waiting forever who are on their work break and you take time out for a party?
5. Staff did not apologize. Instead they think I'm the rude one for ruining their party. Ah, hello? I should have been work an hour ago and you leave me in the freezing examination room wearing nothing except a toilet paper thin outfit!
Visit #2
I know...why go again? I have HMO...and was hoping the 2nd time was better...
1. Waited for an hour AGAIN
Visit #3
I got called in to do an annual check --I thought it was weird since I fwas there a few months back, but hey, you think the doctor/office knows what they are doing.
1. Waited 30 minutes in the waiting room
2. Nurse asked me why I was there...um you guys called me and scheduled it and you're asking me why I'm there?? Don't you have my paperwork???
3. Waited 10 minutes in examination room
4. Dr. Jackson comes in and tells me I don't need to be there because I did my check up a few months back. WHAT??? I wasted 1.5 hours (including my driving time)? Apparently the nurses are LAZY and don't bother to check client's history. I demanded a refund, and the nurse was like "why do you look so upset?" Why!? You have got to be kidding me?
A week later I rec'd a letter from Dr. Gail:
"It is important in a Physician-Patient relationship that there be mutual TRUST and RESPECT. We feel that we no longer have the shared trust and respect. We are asking that you find another Physician..."
So now I'm the bad guy again crashing the party...Oye vey.
I am definitely yelping all my doctors and future doctors from now on!
Like some of the other reviewers, I would give 0 stars to Dr. Jackson if I could. She is easily the worst doctor I have ever seen in my whole life.
A few years ago I was a new patient of Dr. Lisa Masterson's (another gyno I do NOT recommend) and when I went in, they told me that Dr. Jackson would be seeing me instead. I figured this would be fine since I had only had wonderful experiences with OB/GYNs (Dr. Ketley Michel in NYC is amazing), and I hadn't met Dr. Masterson yet (should have been a red flag).
During my regular exam Dr. Jackson was not only rushed and cold, but condescending (she insulted me for having breast augmentation - a personal choice which I do not regret one bit). She is clearly a very unhappy person who likes to take it out on her patients who are already in a very vulnerable position.
I mentioned to her that my boyfriend had a condition that I was concerned about even though it was not known to be sexually transmitted. She then told me I would probably get it and death would be the outcome. Needless to say, this made me cry, like many of the other patients who have written reviews here.
A few years have gone by now, and not only is my bf still alive ... I never experienced any negative effects from his condition... and I did not die from it as she warned. What a terrible, misleading, incorrect warning to give someone!
This doctor has the worst bedside manner I have ever seen. She should not be practicing. I cannot tell enough people about my horrible experience... please do not go to this doctor!!!
I would have given her zero or even negative stars if I could have, but the system wouldn't let me. How's that for an auspicious beginning?
It is with great sadness that I write this review. It's been a couple of years since my fateful visit to her office, and now I feel like I can share the experience to prevent anyone else from being treated this way by her. Or being treated by her, period.
I went to Dr. Jackson for a routine exam. She's a gynocologist, so you know what that entails. The actual exam was unmemorable, which is good. However, the conversation that followed was unforgivable.
This was my first visit, so she asked me all the normal questions about family history. Since my mother died of breast cancer 18 years ago, that always gets the doctors talking. But what Dr. Jackson said blew my mind. She said, and I quote, "You're going to die in the next 10 years. The only way to prevent that is to have prophylactic breast surgery and a hysterectomy." Let's pause for a second. Does the statement you're going to die seem like something another human being can tell you with that much certainty? I don't even know if I believe in God, but if I did, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't impart the news of my death disguised as an average gynocologist. Maybe she'd bake me a cake or something with You're Going to Die! written in frosting. I mean shit, then at least I'd have cake. But I digress...
Without taking any cues from my shell-shocked face, Dr. Jackson continued (!) to drop bomb after bomb on me like I wasn't a human being with some pretty serious feelings about the situation. She explained the details of the surgeries she was recommending, and never mentioned the genetic testing that you can get to see if you're even at high risk for getting cancer. I tried to break the copious tension at one point by making a joke about how I eat broccoli and that should help and she jumped on that like I was an ostrich hiding my head in the sand. The nerve. Humor is my coping mechanism. At least laugh, bitch. But here's the kicker. After 20 minutes of berating by a sorry excuse for a doctor, I started to cry under the weight of her statements. And then she said what is possibly the most insulting thing I've ever heard in my 33 years on the planet, "I know, you miss your mommy" and came over to hug me.
Eventually my torture ended. I got dressed, got yelled at by a few of the nurses who tried to make me pay, even though my insurance fully paid for an annual exam at the time, and ran out the door. I called my dad in hysterical tears from the street. I didn't care who saw me. He talked me down, and I somehow made it home.
I am telling you all of this, all you strangers out there who might want to see Dr. Jackson as your doctor, please don't. PLEASE. There are plenty of other doctors to choose from. Don't choose her.
Addendum: I got tested by my mother's oncologist for the breast cancer gene and I tested negative. So thankfully, in addition to being mean, Dr. Jackson was also wrong.
This is the WORST doctor's office I have ever been to. Although Dr. Jackson is "nice", she is very unattentive and is always rushing in and rushing out as though she has no time to spend to talk with you.
I went to her when i first got pregnant and with no warning AT ALL she shoved the pelvic ultrasound in me, scaring me half to death. Then with no chit chat at all, she ran out of the room to go to another patient.
The nurse practitioner on staff was nice and informative and took her time to answer any quesitons you have. However the rest of the staff is HORRENDOUS. They are rude and have very bad attitudes.
I do NOT recommend going to this office for medical care. It's sad to see an office with so improper care of their patients.
Though the subject of 'ladies health' isn't a frequent topic among, well any talk or blogging, or yelping... Having been in the situation of being in a new town and needing my routine checkup, I know how hard it is to get a recommendation, and REALLY! Most ladies don't want to go to 'just anyone' for this stuff... Though her reception staff wasn't the most friendly, and though the paperwork is tedious (I've done less for loans and auto purchases), the doctor herself is amazing. I've never had such an easy, quick and friendly visit.
Ladies, if you value your time and body go elsewhere. This is the worst OBGYN I have ever been to. Lets see -- here are my stories there. I had a procedure done by a substitute doctor (I wasn't even notified that Dr. J was out of town even though there was 3 weeks notice) who left cotton in me (and didn't tell me) which just fell out days later - by the way, the procedure was so painful I started having seizures on the table but they wouldn't give me anything for the pain and yelled at me to stop otherwise the instruments would fall out. The doctor also told me she didn't have time to answer any questions for me for after care. Oh, and then there was the time the nurse practitioner practically tore my lady-part to shreds with her speculum of horror. The dr. actually had to come in and reprimand her in front of me. Let's add on the fact that the office is never fully stocked - so you have to wait months for basic vaccines to arrive. I've never gotten out of there in under 2 hours for a basic pap smear (if you think you can get the first appt of the day and be handled in a timely manner, think again). Oh, and the front desk staff is beyond rude: They hang up on you if you ask a question.
Seriously. Planned Parenthood has a better operation going than this place.
UGH.
I am a Registered Nurse and I would not recommend anyone to come to this practice. The staff is way too disorganized to be able to give quality care for the large practice this is. You can wait 2-3 weeks for lab/diagnostic test results, if you get them at all. Appt wait times are 1-2 hrs, so long that their waiting room is not large enough so they start putting patients in various empty rooms. Dr Jackson, although has had a great reputation, does not give personalized attention. Everytime you see her, she does not know what the ongoing problem is so you repeat yourself appt after appt. Hello, doesnt she document? I changed doctors after visit #2!!!
It was with regret I left the office of Dr Jackson. Nice doctor, but overworked, inattentive and always late. It was not uncommon to wait over an hour to be seen. I have been a patient for years, and the level of service has steadily declined.
