If you don't know, you better ask SOMEBODY! One of the best ranges I've been to, and the kick back crew is extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it comes down to firearms. Pay them a visit, you won't regret it! What's up Jon & Leo!

My favorite place to shoot indoors, hands down.

I've come here about four times and each time has been great. The staff is ultra friendly and extremely helpful. They have a good selection of targets... my favorite being the one with the hostage ;) Best part about this place is that they allow rapid fire! No 3-second rule FTW!!!!

When Anita suggested that we hit up Jackson Arms for their beginner's classes ($50, which includes 30 minutes of classroom instruction, equipment rental, 2 targets and 50 rounds), I could not wait to lock and load--and I was not disappointed.  The instruction was helpful to dust off the cobwebs of past shooting experiences, the range and shop staff were super helpful, and the facility was clean and professional.  I look forward to going back soon for more target practice!

Generally, I like the staff there with some exceptions.  Most of the people there will talk to you for a long time and give you some advice about guns, gun safety, types of guns, etc.  Particularly, I like Danny, Leo, Colt, and Greg. I guess the Korean lady in there was having a bad day because she was quite abrupt with me.  I especially dislike John - cocky, arrogrant, and has a bad attitude.  I will try to avoid him next time.

They generally need to shed some of the gung-ho attitude.  It doesn't sit very well with most people.  Since many people (especially in the Bay Area) are new to the idea of gun ownership I think it would behoove this business to make the experience as inviting as possible without any macho cowboy impression, which has  stereotyped gun owners.  I have a membership there but will probably not renew it.

The beginning handgun safety class is alright.  I haven't taken any of their other classes.  If it wasn't for the good attitudes and service of the people I mentioned above, I would have given 1 star.

06/26/2008 - Leo responded to this review the same day.  Wow!  I wrote the following back to him:
"Thank you Leo.  It is refreshing to see that a business cares about its customers.  I really mean it - that fact that you responded and it was quite timely is really impressive.  I will attach my response to my review."

Jackson Arms' stock just went up in my book. :-)

In light of the communication from a JA staff I feel really confident that they appreciate my business and will consider them in the future.

I love this place! Since they've moved to the new location, the atmosphere is pretty laid back and not intimidating. They keep their demo guns in good condition as if it was your own. Great to experiment with all the types of guns and calibers but beware, your bill can add up pretty fast. Overall, a great experience.

When I was 7 I was given a bb-gun to play with. I went out, shot a bird and learned what death was. When I was 8, I was taken out into the fields behind my house and taught how to shoot a .22 rifle. Shot at cans and got a nasty bruise on my shoulder and got knocked to the ground. At 10 I learned how to shoot with a .30-06 shotgun and got yet another nasty bruise on my shoulder.

There are a few other stories that bring me to tears involving guns which I will not go into right now. But needless to say, I've been afraid of guns for many, many years now. When Eugy leaves his gun out, I hate just walking by it. I always ask him to keep it out of my sight. But he really loves his gun and he really loves going to the shooting range. So we he asked me to go, I really didn't want to, but I have to do some of the stuff he likes right? Compromise. Isn't that what it's called? And plus, if I plan on applying for the FBI in three years, I need to get over my fear of guns.

So we go to Jackson Arms and Leo gives me a great lesson on safety and a few quick notes about recoil on Eugy's 9mm. Hi Leo!!

We grab some targets. Ear and eye protection and head into the booth. First few rounds, I was all over the target. I mean, I hit the mass, but still, I was all over the place. Eugy suggested that I try a .22 pistol. Despite that gun being heavier than Eugy's, there was almost no recoil and right away I was shooting dead center.

At the end, I tried again with Eugy's 9mm. This time around was a lot better. I was anticipating the recoil less and was hitting dead center and very near dead center.

I still don't like guns, but at least after yesterday, I hate them a little less.

Gun rental here is free to members. You just need to buy the bullets. All kinds of guns are available. Targets, protective gear. They got it. And some other stuff like cleaning parts and carrying cases for sale. And the entire staff is VERY knowledgeable and VERY friendly. Can't wait to go back.

I had so much fun here and I had no idea that a lot of other chicks are fans of shooting as well. It's definitely a good way to de-stress (and with all this shit i'm going through this moment, it couldn't have come at a better time). I had to take a routine refresher course since i haven't fired a gun in almost a year and the course itself is very thorough. The staff is super friendly and safety is always emphasized. They are serious about that but above all they want you to enjoy yourselves too. bitches know better than to mess with me!

Price beats all others, facility beats all others. What can I say, I'm biased and I love the place! Knowledgeable staff, friendly (unless you point a gun at them), and hard working. All the other good stuff.

The bad part is all the people that come to the range and say they can "coach" their students, then do a very piss poor job of doing it. I don't know what it is, ego? Being too cheap to take the beginner's class? Do yourself a favor, and take the class even though you think you can "coach" a shooter. You might spare yourself a very expensive charge for destroying the property that the employees tirelessly and constantly repair and replace. Yes I said it. Most shooters suck because of bad coaches. Hey coach, have some humble pie, pay some cash, learn a lesson or two, and leave your check-writing ego at the door, till your body is strong enough to cash it. Got it Maverick?

These guys have very extensive knowledge about firearms, because they are immersed in their craft. Take advantage of this knowledge because it is disappearing, especially in a truly hippie, emotional, and paranoid state like California.

Speaking of California, hey San Francisco, lets ban guns to make more criminals as a solution to having a hard time catching other criminals that are already out there. That way it's easier to catch these new criminals, as they used to be law-abiding citizens before that stupid proposition, and generally not as good at committing crimes. Doesn't make sense does it?  I'm never gonna forgive the powers-that-be in San Francisco for even suggesting that one.

But yeah, Jackson Arms still kicks ass!

this range sucks, you have personnel in there who isn't even range office qualified. checking your gun to see if it is safe. Also bad customer service very bad attitudes. never Will I shoot there again. The worst range in the bay area. You would think that gang memebers is working the counter. I guess if you can carry a gun at the place it makes you a big man. Friendly hell no! they don't even know about guns there's a famous saying "Are you a man" or "a pussy with a gun" that's jackson arms

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.  They are genuinely excited to help beginners learn safely.  There is a welcoming vibe throughout the range both among the staff and other shooters.  They have a good selection of handguns in different calibers ranging from an assortment of 9mm, .40 and .45 Glocks, Brettas, Sig Sauers, 1911s, and .22 competition pistols.  Weapons are in pretty good condition given their role as rentals.

My two roommates and I now come here weekly on Thursdays and have a blast!  (Thursdays are group nights- 3rd shooter is free as well as free rental).

Only suggestion is that their ears (hearing protection), like all ranges, are lacking, for $0.75 you can purchase additional ear plugs to wear under the ear muffs to block out a great deal more sound.

14 girls and 3 gay guys... at the shooting range.

Enough said?

Well, Jackson Arms and our teacher Dean taught us well and no one left with any bullet wounds nor were any ambulances rushed to the scene. I think only one of us had ever shot a real gun before, we were all kinda silly and out of control during the classroom time, but being the responsible kids we are, we managed to have a really good time learnin' how to shoot hand guns. And might I say we were pretty darn good too?

If you're looking for something totally random to do then I highly recommend getting a few friends together and going down here to getcher pop on.

Minus one star for not being very accommodating in terms of payment for a large group. I ended up having to put the whole thing on my credit card ($750) when it would have been nice if they would have figured out a way to just have everyone pay separately. No biggie though. I had fun.

I became an American citizen last year, but I didn't truly feel like I'm American until I came here today and popped off some rounds.

My first experience with firearms was back home in the Great White North 10 years ago when I shot .22 rifle at my high school's range (yes we had a range at my high school...what can I say we Canadians are always afraid you Yanks will invade us so we all had to be trained, eh? Har har.). Yesterday when my buddy asked if I wanted to go shooting I said sign me up. I got my BFSC 7 years ago but never shot because I never found people to go with. My only concern was if the place is shady and has the redneck vibe, but he assured me that the place is very chill. Sorry, I'm Asian and I don't do the redneck thing.

After convinced two other n00b to come along the 4 of us ended up at Jackson Arms. As he promise, the place is bright, open, and friendly. Look! fellow Asians runs the place! Cool, no crazy redneck vibe! We sign the paperworks, went to the back where my buddy showed us the basics on handling a pistol, got the safety gears, got the range rule lecture, and headed to the range.

We started with a 9mm. Of course I was nervous as shit. I didn't realize at the time but they give us a Glock 19C, with is a compact version of the venerable 17. I've got big-ass hands and my pinky was hanging loose so I couldn't get a nice grip on it. The 19C had slots on top of the slide that allow the exhaust to vent and compensating for the muzzle climb. Of course, when that happens the flame shoots out the top of the gun in a "V". Combine that little firework display with the bang, my first clip went by in a trembling and sweaty-palm filled blur. Holy crap I'm shooting a pistol! The 22 rifle I shot back in school felt like a Super Soaker in comparison.

After a few clips went by I was content with keeping popping 9mm rounds all day. By buddy, who has done this before, is itching to try a .45ACP. i was hesitant at first because I was already totally content with the amount of firepower I'm welding in my hand, but I didn't rain on his parade so we traded in the 19C for a 21C.

All I can say is that after going through 1 clip of .45 ammo I was totally sold. While the gun should have a substantially stronger kick, we didn't really feel it because the gun was heavier and studier. It felt easier to control. The power was quite satisfying and we went through 150 rounds pretty quickly.

An hour and 300 rounds later, 3 of us had our pistol cherry popped. Two never even held a firearm until today. All of us left the place very satisfied but $165 lighter in the wallet.

The only experience that was not as great as it could be was when we were first on the range, my buddy (the one that was coaching us) had some trouble with the pistol. He went out and grabbed someone and the person that came to help him was a little impatient with him, but he looked pretty young so probably just thought we were clueless. My buddy looks pretty young and like a punk skater kid and that probably didn't help. Once we got that sorted we were all shooting away happily. I can't really blame him, though. If you get hassled here, you are probably doing something wrong. After all, this is live firearms, not go-carts. They have to come on any safety-related issue like Thor's Hammer. You can't screw around with gun safely.

The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I debated between 4 & 5 stars but I feel that was just an isolated incident. At the end of the day we all had a blast and can't wait to go back.

Damn it, I used to swore that I'd never own a gun (not because I'm an anti-gun Liberal but rather not deal with the hassle), but this little trip may change my mind. Shooting is a lot of fun and helps blow off steam! Once I've got more experience I may have to take someone here on a date. From all the other reviews from female reviewers I don't think that's such a bad idea.

I have to give the range 5 stars simply because I I love the place and not because I work here.  I would have given Jackson Arms 5 stars a long time ago but I never knew about Yelp until I started working there and seeing reviews people have left.  I started going to Jackson Arms December 29th, 2006 one day after picking up my Glock 21.  For 1 month straight I was there 3 to 4 times a week dumping ammo left and right.  My  bill was never lower than $100.00.  Ask my co-workers, they'll tell you that I used to come in and ask for 10 boxes of 45 acp Factory and about 30 minutes later another 5 boxes.  I was trigger happy what can I say, I had an American Express Card with no limit that put me $15,000 in debt from shooting so much.  Happily I now only owe $1,500 aside from the $**,*** for my new car.  Hahaha.   Anyways on January 29, 2007 I became a Premier Member for $500.00 which I was excited about and I never left.  I would be there after work from 5pm until closing EVERYDAY.  Some days I wouldn't even shoot, I would just stop by and hang out and listen and learn from the staff.  After becoming good friends with the staff they decided to cut me off of my trigger happy mindset and minimize me to 1 box of 50 rounds per visit so that I can improve my shooting.  Even though I was giving them good business they didn't care much about my money but they wanted to help me get better.  All in all I ended up shooting Bullseye no problem, I went from large targets down to medium with a small bullseye (#16 my favorite)

Now I work at the range and see how the range operates and why we stress the SAFETY factor A LOT.

My advice to customers is...

1) Do not come in under the influence of alcohol or drugs

2) Do not come with firearms unless they are cased. (come in and ask one of the employees to help you bring it in

3) If you are Military of Law Enforcement leave you ego at the door no need to flash your badge or ID in my face. (simply just let the cashier know and we will do what we can to get you a deal on the lane)

4) READ THE RULES ---- DO NOT JUST LOOK AT THEM BECAUSE ULTIMATELY YOU WILL GET WARNED FOR SOMETHING YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IF YOU ACTUALLY READ THE RULES.

5) If you are requested to do a HANDGUN SAFETY DEMO don't cop an attitude.  The REASON why we run the demo is because we a looking out for the SAFETY of our customers and employees.  WE WILL NOT JUST HAND A FIREARM(S) TO SOMEONE WHO MIGHT NOT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE IT SAFELY AND PROPERLY

6) Smile when you come in NO ONE LIKES A GRUMP PERSON HANDLING FIREARMS.

7) COMPLETE A PPT(Private Party Transfer) of ALL FIREARMS in YOUR POSSESSION to DAN NGUYEN hahahha....Just playing.

HAVE FUN, BE SAFE, ASK QUESTIONS

Shooting a gun is fun! Went for a birthday party, and the staff was very, very serious (duh, guns!) but totally cool. They happily gave us two huge revolvers and a 9mm with only one experienced shooter in the bunch. Get the mugger target - totally satisfying.

Heh, heh, heh....

That was fun.  I hadn't fired my .357, Margaret, in about a year.  I love going into a crowded, busy range, there's a steady rate of pop, pop, pop coming from the other stalls, a couple of ladies there even, and then I squeeze a few off BANG BANG BANG!!! and it gets awful quiet.  People look around to see what the hell that was.  Heh heh heh.

They had reloaded ammo that were pretty good and not very expensive.   Not too strict, but then again I had military ID.  Actually the whole experience was less expensive than I remember a range outing to cost.

They are a bit hard to find, especially considering I used to work on Utah street in SF.  I went down there, looked for the address, didn't see it, called them, and realized I was in the wrong city.  Embarassing.

Minus one star because they had a very limited selection of rentals and most of them were at a gunsmith being repaired.  The guy behind the counter told me they were very hard on their rentals.  Not much gear, accessories, rentals, conversation, or really anything to look at, but it is a close and inexpensive place to go shoot a bunch of rounds.

Never been there
It looked so dark and gloomy outside
but inside is a different story
we had a mini class on how to shoot a gun
I never shot a gun
now it was time to bust some caps
the .22 was the beginner gun and you'll know why
we called it the cowboy gun
then we had another gun
that had bang
I did good for being a first timer
we got hooked up with a lot of bullets and it kinda gets tedious after a while
but it was fun
you should go here
they treat you like family
they really do
but dont point the gun anywhere but the targets
they'll get your ass!

i guess you can say i'm somewhat of a regular.  been a member since the old location.  usually stop by and spend more time talking to the guys behind the counter than shooting.  between the range officers and the other regulars, you can both see alot and learn alot.

the old place was hard to find, small and poorly ventilated...basically a cave.  thankfully the new place is much better.  just wish that all the lane lights worked, but there's enough lighting to see what you need to.

the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and definitely knows what they're doing.  generally, if you're getting an attitude from them, it means you're:

a) being an a$$,
b) being an idiot,
c) have no clue what you're doing, or
d) some combination of the above

however, i did meet one fella there that said he used to be a r.o./teacher there that was a real jerk.  apparently he thought that that qualified him to critique everyone else.  eh...but can't let one bad egg ruin the dozen.

members are generally friendly and offer advice and if you are nice/curious/etc, they might let you shoot their firearms that you may have never seen before.

it's definitely not an experience for those who can't stomach a hefty bill.  it's not cheap, but it can be addictive.  i've turned several anti-gun folks into either gun-enthusiasts or someone that respects firearms, but doesn't hate them anymore.

It was my second time shooting. First time in 2002, was at their So. Airport Blvd. location right off highway 101. Got most of them right on the target! hehe... we even chose the Bin Laden targets.  I must say, since the last time I went, I haven't gotten bad a bit! I wouldn't say I'm a sharp shooter, but for a girl, I say you betta beware! ...Thanks to the wonderful teachers I had; 1st time is my friend who is in the Marines, 2nd time is my kick ass friend Dean, who works at Jackson Arms.

You definintely need to take classes for first time shooters and for those who haven't shot in a while, just as a refresher course because they have rules you need to abide when shooting. REMEMBER... IT IS STILL A WEAPON!

I do suggest for eyeglass wearers to either wear contacts or non-bulging eyeglass frames because when you wear the eye and ear protection + your glasses, you can still hear the gun shots pretty loudly. You don't want to damage your hearing, especially if you are looking to frequent this place.

Apparently they got some complaints about the Osama targets so they cannot offer them anymore.
Too bad... still... 5 stars!

damn I love this place. The atmosphere is so chill. Maybe except 1 or 2 guys who are too serious everyone is cool. Here's the thing though: If you come here don't act like you know what you're doing if you dont. Guns are weapons and not toys. If you do something stupid you WILL get bitched at and kicked out and maybe hurt somebody or yourself.

The first time I came here they wouldnt let me shoot because I didnt know the basic gun handling rules(finger off the trigger, gun pointed downrange, and i forgot the last one but i think its keep the gun unloaded until ready to shoot)

Anyhow after I got my own gun I went in there and told them it was my first gun and first time. Good thing they didnt make me take any stupid beginner classes. Not because I think I'm the shit but I don't really have time for that crap, by this time I knew these guys were serious and already did my research on range etiquette and safety.

Yea but these days I come once in a while, when I take my friends I always give them a short lecture in the car. I'm realy serious about safety because if you're not you're a dumass and shouldnt even be there

This place is what made me learn that guns are cheap, ammo is what kills you (in terms of wallet wise).

If you come in here and splurge on gun rentals and ammo your bill will be through the roof.

just put it like this, if you ride a sportbike then its the same. every noob wants to jump on an r1 same thing like every newb wants to come in and pop off a 45. imagine dealing with that shit every damn day. thats why sometimes they give attitude. I dont blame them. but theres a couple of dudes here that always give attitude but thats expected of any gun range.

It's good to know that after many years of not firing a handgun I can still put a majority of my shots right where they need to be if I ever have to put someone down.  I do need a lot more time with an AR-15 to be effective, but if you end up on the opposite side of one that I am holding I don't think my shots down and to the left will really have you breathing a sigh of relief.  They'll be calling you Righty McOnenut if that ever happens before I can correct a few things.

It's no surprise that the people that work here know and love their guns.  They will definitely take their time admiring any nice piece that you bring in.  They also take great care to make sure that newbies and those that have not handled a firearm in a while have someone competent with them in the range.

They have 3 rifle lanes and probably about 10 pistol lanes.  All great for spending a few hours of your free time with a gun in your hands destroying paper targets.

What goes better together than girls and Guns?? Not a whole helluva lot...I grew up shooting .22's at targets with my uncle amidst fishing trips and small game hunting. Now granted I havent been back in a bit but my God I love this place......When youve had a rough day, works is breathin down your back, the boyfriend is being a prick and there isnt anything going right, I say slip your hands around a nice piece of steel put a name on a target and go to town...

Plus, what guy doesnt wanna see a cute girl bent over her handgun, or cock that rifle and take it like a man

Thank you fellow Yelpers for giving the idea of a Jackson Arms gift certificate!  It's at the top of my upcoming bday list as well as the Christmas list months out... so much fun.

I went here when trying to decide on what my first gun should be.  They rent guns so you can try different ones out, most places you have to bring your own (rental fees are around $15/gun and be sure you have someone with you because you can't rent & shoot alone).

The people were helpful and friendly.  They know their stuff too.  I hadn't fired a gun in many, many years but I knew the important stuff.  By the time I left I felt knowledgable & empowered.  Mondays are ladies' nights -- half off the lane fee.

the rifle range has only 3 booths.  Its pretty damn loud in there i dont know if it my ear muffs or the small compact area but my ears hurt everytime someone shoots a round.

The pistol range is better bigger more space to put stuff.   I like that they allow rapid fire but cant fire too fast.  I was told to show down a bit however i was hitting a good group when i was rapid firing.  anyways they do allow assault weapons there as long as you have your papers etc.   they love to look at them and talk abuot em.

i would go back again during a raining day but its a 45 min drive from san jose.  it ahs to be raining and has to have a cute girl who want to shoot rifle inside.  then i would go

Apparently you can't own a handgun in San Francisco, but a quick drive South yields as much firepower as I care to handle. As someone who grew up shooting water heaters and Chevrolets, the gun range experience was a bit foreign. Fortunately, the good people behind the counter made sure everyone was comfortable and nobody lost any digits in the process.

The handful of times I've gone have been on Thursday (group night!) which leads to crowded lanes and wait times for the biggest guns. Make sure someone in your party knows what's up and will vouch for your mad gun slinging skills.

Bring something warm (may I recommend Upper Playground's "Guns" Hoodie) as it is damn cold. Also, bring a mess of cash as all those rounds add up pretty quickly. Who knew I could blast through 500 rounds with 8 friends in an hour?

The only real improvement would be serving nachos.

I own a gun and i'm not afraid to shoot you.
That's right. I said it.
Ok, so, this place is fun. I frequent this place about twice a month to practice my target shooting. I'm not an excellent shooter, but it's fun to just go out there and blow off some steam. I have a bad day and oh yeah, someone's name is being writtin on that target. For some reason that makes me feel a little better.

I swear i'm not a psychopath.
Bring a hoodie it's frickin cold in there or ask for the lane where the blower is broken. By the time i'm done in there my fingers are numb from the cold.
The guys who work there are very nice too, they always remember me and hook me up with the proper discount.
Also, i've seen them turn away two groups of guys who walked in off the street wanting to rent a gun. Both times watching them try to safely unload a weapon scared me. I'm thankful that they screen people and their weapons before letting them into the range.

If you love me, or even like me a little, you'll give me a gift certificate /go with me to Jackson Arms Shooting Range.

I have a little scar on my thumb from a really long afternoon lovemaking session with the .357 magnum. It's a truly delectable gun.

What better way to spend an afternoon than firing off a few rounds at this fantastic establishment?

And they do Ladies Night on Mondays and there's half price shooting for us.

I LOVE this place. A little too much. I've kept all my targets. I'm getting better and not just hitting the crotch anymore.

Boys, this is the place to take a girl for a date she'll never forget.

My gun virginity was popped a few months back. Before Jackson Arms, I had never held a gun, much less shoot one off. Honestly mass media teaches you that guns are dangerous. But the feel of gunmetal in your hands is sure niiccee. The atmosphere is very safe and as much as I hate wearing protective eyegear, I felt better knowing that they were strict with their policies. The guys behind the counter joked around with us because my date was apparently a regular. After shooting off a few rounds, I started contemplating buying my own gun, well maybe just one of those bee-bee guns first ;)

They're new facilities are great.   Full 25 yard range, good ventilation, even three rifle lanes. Their lane rental prices are good, for the best deal check out their membership options.

Sure the guys could be a little surly.  But think about it.  They deal all day with people that learned their gun handling from Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone movies., without the slightest idea about how to handle a firearm safely.  See what kind of mood you're in when people at your work point guns that may or may not be loaded at you.  Or put holes in things that really shouldn't have holes.  That's after telling  you about their experiences being a sniper in Nam for two hours.

Plus they're in the San Francisco Bay Area where an incident would be splashed all over the news and the "progressives" would start a petition to close the place down.

What'd you expect the person at the  counter to do after you said you'd "only been shooting once before" and were unable to demonstrate safe operation of a gun?  Hand you a gun and a box of ammo with instructions to go light em up.?  Sorry but I'm glad he's ensuring a safe environment for the customers and employees.

holy moly!  judging from the long reviews, i guess people take guns pretty seriously.... O_O

went there with 3 boys and 2 girls.  the boys wanted to play with the 40, but i was afraid of the recoil so i got myself a little .22 caliber.  we rented both guns, bought 2 boxes of ammo for the 40 and 1 box for the 22, and used their safety glasses/goggles and ear muffs.  there were 4 shooters; the other two girls wanted to sit in had to rent the safety gear as well, so the total came out to be about $120.

i had so much fun, i couldn't get enough!  i went back with my dad and brother.  my brother brought his xd40.  we had our own safety gear and ammo, so all we bought were targets (3).  our total came out to be about $30.

i thought i'd shoot to relieve stress, but just having the cutie that manages the cash register greet me and ask for my license is enough to get me to forget about my worries and be all giddy.

just to warn you, the boys in there have big toys (not their package.  actually, i wouldn't know).  this one doode shooting next to me busted out his bigboy gun and scared me sh*tless when he started blasting that sucker.  it felt and sounded like the place was being bombed.  also, this place is friggin COLD!  wear layers and long sleeves cuz the shell casing often flies out and ricochets off the side of your lane and hits you.  ick.

very friendly and knowledgeable staff.  just be kool, safe, and don't act like a badass/smartass/dumbass.

popped my gun range cherry here.  staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable & helpful.  small selection of guns to buy, but they can order almost anything you can think of.  lots of targets to shoot at, and they're pretty cheap too.

wednesdays are discount days for law enforcement officers...if you know one, ask them to come with you on a wednesday so you can shoot for free!

Recently, I spent an evening with a heavily tattooed man named Leo, a snake named Rex, and a .22 caliber Semi-Automatic.

(And no, this is not a typical Saturday night for me.)

In other words, I signed up for the Novice Shooter's Package at Jackson Arms.  For $50, I got:

1)  PLAY TIME with Rex and conversation with the friendly, knowledgeable staff,

2)  CLASS TIME with Leo where we had lessons in shooting basics, shooting safety, and Darwinism (aka stories of those who disregarded the shooting safety lesson),

3)  LANE TIME with a .22 caliber Semi-Automatic, 100 bullets and 2 paper targets and

4)  An overall GREAT TIME!

Note:  We also got bonuses in the form of a free upgrade to a larger gun (we tried the .45 caliber semi-automatic) AND entertainment in the form of a guy a few lanes over who was apparently firing a cannon (aka overcompensating for his small ... ego).  SCORE!

well I work at Jackson Arms so I have to give it 5 stars....I signed up for yelp because of one of the reviews. The reason why we do not rent to people that come in by themselves is because of a thing called "range suicide". Most shooting ranges will have the "buddy system" just cause it happens all the time. if you wanna come in and rent by yourself then bring a working firearm....cause if you do then you can kill yourself at home.

OUR WEBSITE IS BACK UP!!! WOOHOO!!

Edit:11-26-2007
DON'T COME IN HIGH AND PULL THE "I HAVE A MEDICINAL MARIJUANA CARD SO I CAN SMOKE ANY TIME I WANT" ...FIRST OF ALL MEDICINAL USE DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN DRIVE AROUND INTOXICATED....THATS STILL A DUI!! AND WE DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE NO MATTER WHAT TO SHOOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANYTHING. DO NOT TRY TO ARGUE SPECIALLY IF YOU SMELL LIKE WEED. I AM TIRED OF PEOPLE TRYING TO TELL ME THAT ITS NOT THEM THAT SMELLS LIKE WEED!! SPECIALLY IF THE ONLY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE LOBBY IS STAFF....I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT YOU DO AT HOME JUST DON'T BRING IT TO THE RANGE.
