this is your neighborhood bar/restaurant. It's part sport bar part mom and pop diner. It's open late - 4am as the crowd seems to hang out. It's down the street from Univ of Buffalo but for some reason it doesn't attract the student body. Wings are servered until 1am.
First we'll start with the wings. Yes only in Buffalo can you get them cooked the correct way. Don't expect it to be quick but worth the wait. Medium was easy to handle as well as the hot for me. Cooked until tender and not oily. Sauce wasn't dripping off your fingers either. I had them twice. Portions of food is good and the menu selection is nice.
Drink prices. Jack and Coke $3.75 Grey Goose and tonic $4.75 and pour was a little on the heavy side.
Neighborhood. Watching a high school game on the large LCD screen with big college games on the tiny tv's had me confused. Well to my surprise. The coachs of the team we were watching win a NY state football championship earlier on the LCD showed up with family and friends for a celebration. What had planned to be a night of turning in early. Turned into chatting football with a few good people.
I visited the Buffalo area a couple of times last year, and the wings at Jack's were my favorite by far. It wasn't a huge bar crowd, but I actually prefer that in a way. Great place for a beer and wings, a football game, and a conversation you can actually hear.
I'm a fan. Great place to stop off for a beer and some wings to catch the game. In a bizarre-o strip mall near the UB campus, it doesn't really attract the attention of the students. Crowd is more post-hockey pepsi center crowd, so if you like hot hockey guys...mmmm...come here.
