This was by far the most pleasant bridal dress shopping place I went to. The women in the shop were phenomenal. I'm not sure what store these other yelpers walked in to, but I had the best experience.
I walked in after hitting so many Bridal shops in the neighborhood. I didn't have an appointment, but the ladies helped me look over their selection and gave me some price points. I made an appointment to come in after work the following week. They had such a huge selection to look over, I was overwhelmed & they could tell. The older sales women gave me 5 suggestions & each looked better then the previous!
When it came down to making a decision, they both gave me their honest & fair opinion & they were right. It was a dress that I would have not picked out for myself, but it fit me like a glove! All of their dresses were of far better quality the half the dresses I had seen at other nearby shops. They had beautiful veils, even mantilla style veil, that I ended up getting.
The best part is she was super understanding that I could not pay for the whole thing at once. She let me pay half then a little by little of what I could.
I just want to give every bride the chance to go in this special bridal store & have the experience I had. You won't be disappointed!

After calling 4 other different bridal shops which refused to help me track down a particular gown, Jackie's put in the extra effort to call the manufacturer in California and have a sample shipped to the store.  That resulted in Jackie's getting the sale and my getting the perfect dress.

On the down side, the ribbon-tying bustle system was ineffective and I dragged around a saggy bustle much of the night.  The halter top was too long and instead of actually altering the strap and adding new metal eyes for the hooks, the seamstress added nearly invisible white loops of thread which were neither secure nor easy to find; the halter came undone on the way to the venue.

And, brides, check your egos at the door.  I'm a size 10 and on each of three fittings either mother or daughter/owner made a crack about my weight.  Not exactly what a bride wants to hear - ever!

This is a long review, so skip it or pack a lunch.  At least I'm warning you.

This place stinks - literally.  The moment I walked in, I was overwhelmed by the smell of stinky armpits.  Unfortunately, this wasn't even one of their worst points.

My maid of honor and I were dress shopping at Eva's, which was just down the street.  We left there and decided to check out Jackie's.  We told them that we would like to look at their dresses.  They said I would need an appointment.  Fine.  I set one up for the following weekend.

That following Saturday, my maid of honor and I were running ahead of schedule, and by the time we got out of the car, I *really* had to use the bathroom.  I asked one of the ladies if I could just use the restroom before we started.  They told me that they didn't have a public restroom, but I could go across the street to the pizza place.  WHAT???!!!!  You want me to spend over $1,000 in your little tiny shop that sees less than 10 people a day, and you want me to bug someone else to let me use their restroom?!  You suck.

So I bitterly came back from using a restroom that I shouldn't have even been allowed to use (because I wasn't a customer), and I was given two books of dresses to look through.  I was told to mark the dresses that I like, and they will bring them out for me to try on.

While I was looking throught the first book, a young woman came in with a huge designer bag, designer clothes, and what looked to be about 5 carats on her engagement ring.  She said she was interested in looking at dresses.  One of the owners asked if she had an appointment, and she said "no".  The owner then said, "That's okay; let me get you a book.".  She then took one of the two books I was looking at, and gave it to the bleached blonde silicone princess.

I was pretty annoyed at this, as I was just about done with the other book.  I stood there waiting, thinking that they'd just at least start bringing out the dresses that I marked from the first book.  No dice.  They actually let me wait until Blondie McPlastic was done flipping through the book.  Then one of the owners gave me the second book to look through, while they directed the princess to the only dressing room.  You have got to be f*****g kidding me.  I was told that I had to make an appointment and make a special trip out here, and now you're letting someone else take my appointment time, simply because she looks like she could afford to buy your store out??!!

sigh.......I really wish that I could say it didn't get worse from there......but it did.  The store is very small, and the dressing room is tiny.  Therefore, you have to put the dress on in the tiny dressing room, and then come out into the main part of the store to see it in the three-way mirror.

An older gentleman who appeared to be Blondie's father or sugar daddy was sitting in a chair by the window, facing towards the dressing area.  After I had finally been placed in the dressing room, I decided to try on this unbelievably drop-dead gorgeous strapless gown.  My friend helped me put it on, and I stepped out in front of the the mirror.

Unfortunately, my strapless bra kept poking out over the top of the dress.  I discreetly took it off and tossed it into the dressing room as the owner watched.  I did notice that Blondie's old guy was watching me, but I thought nothing of it.  It's hard not to pay attention to someone trying on a gorgeous wedding gown.  I stood there in the mirror for a few minutes, analyzing the gown with my friend.  It was so breathtaking, but we both agreed that it might be a little too fancy for the type of wedding I was having.  While I was in mid-sentence and facing Blondie's old guy, the owner actually came over, unzipped me, and said, "Okay, try on the next one now!".

I seriously should have kicked her in the dentures.  First you let Blondie interfere with my appointment, then you rush me through trying on the dresses, because Blondie took so much time, and now you're taking it upon you to give Blondie's old guy a strip show at my expense?!

The only reason I didn't storm out immediately is because they really did have some of the most beautiful dresses I had seen.  They asked me on my way out if I would like them to put anything on hold for me.  I replied, "I'd never give you people my money.  But thanks for writing down the dress styles for me.  I'll be sure to check with House of Brides to see if they have these styles."

I thought about anonymously sending them a package containing soap and deodorant, but that would have been way too mean.

We stopped in because it was across the block from Eva's- which is I'm sure how they get much of their business.  We were curtly told that if we didn't have an appointment there was no way to try on gowns.  So, we started browsing.
"The nice gowns are in the back.  You need an appointment to see them."
"Well, we don't have an appointment, and we drove 45 minutes to get here.  If you want any chance of getting our business, you'll let us see the gowns that aren't ugly like these to convince us it's worth coming back."
"You need an appointment to see the nice gowns."

What's with the attitude, and how can you run a business like this?  Screw it, I don't care if you do have "nice" gowns.  This kind of business model doesn't deserve to be in business.

I know Eva's Bridal was the next block over, but since the store was here we figured we'd go in and check it out.  They had a very small selection of bridesmaid dresses.  I think they had more Mother of the Bride dresses than bridesmaid dresses.  A lof of the dresses had so much sequins in them.  If simple is what you are looking for, then I don't think this is the place for that.  We didn't stay in so long to see the bridal dresses, but it just seemed like that was all we really needed to see to know.  The staff there was nice and friendly, but we just were not on the same page for style.
