Greenpoint Ave (G)
Lovely, perfect addition to Greenpoint. Jack O'Neills is the new Pub on the block and It will be a huge success. Great selection of drinks and draft beers, good prices, and friendly bartenders is a great recipe for success. The decor is cozy and soothing, you feel like spending the night with a group of friends and enjoy a good conversation, this is your spot. The backyard is wonderful and will be even more inviting when some greenery is added. I am looking forward to see that fireplace going in the winter as well. I have already been there two night in the row, which is unusual for me and explain the five stars. Absolutely a must to visit when choosing Greenpoint on your night out.

This bar has been open for exactly one week as of today. I came here a couple nights ago and it still had that new smell. The bartender is friendly, and there is a great garden out back. I have to say, though I liked the look of the barstools, I kept feeling like I was going to fall off mine. The seat is long and narrow rather than your typical round or square seat. I like that they offer rose wine in addition to your standard red and white, as summer is coming, it's nice to have a chilled rose. They also have homemade sangria, which I have yet to try but am looking forward to sipping one in the garden. I'll come back again and again. I think this will be a successful neighborhood pub.

Funny thing, this. An Irish bar in a Polish hood, replete with a small sum of outcast Pollacks, a larger stock of hipster groups and a few solitary drinker readers- both bearded and Slav.
Regular (over) priced drinks. But the one markedly non-Irish bartender gives a whole lot of free.
Sports on the TV, art in the air. I don't mind it.

I've only been here once thus far, but it was a very good experience. Everything's really new and home-y looking, and the bartender is super friendly. I love the outdoor patio - the music's low enough that you can hear your friends talking, and there's plenty of tables that fill up fast. When I went, all the outdoor tables were taken, but the bartender was very accomodating - he carried one of the indoor tables outside for us. It was just too nice of a night to sit inside, and so we sat on the patio, talked, and drank Guiness for hours on end. A great evening.
On weekends when I've been walking past with my puppy, I've noticed a sign that says they have Sangria - not sure if that's all the time or just on the weekends. For some reason two weekends ago it was only $3, but this weekend it was $4...not sure why the price was jacked up within the span of the week, but I sure hope it's good.

Oooh, me likey. I watched them building this bar for months during the winter and they really put some blood sweat and tears (and swear words) into into it. So, obviously I felt it my duty to frequent the bar as soon as possible to show my love for all things crown-moldinged, fireplaced and drink-pouring. It's smallish but very handsome, low-key but friendly and the bar serves everything from Old Speckled Hen to sangria.
For reasons I can't explain I ordered sangria and retreated to the garden where wrought iron chairs were actually comfy, as opposed to feeling like iron, I suppose. The sangria did not taste like the stuff I splooged over while sitting on Las Ramblas in Barcelona but it went down alarmingly easy.
The vibe here is uber mellow which may not make some of your friends sigh with inner peace lovin joy but I sighed that kind of sigh. At least you know you have somewhere to go when the Pencil Factory runneth over: 2 doors down.
