I'm on my couch right now holding an ice pack to my cheek. I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed this morning. Everyone was so pleasant. I pay for everything out of pocket. So I'm used to getting a certain kind of attitude from most places. I was so welcomed by everyone I encountered.

They were redecorating or renovating so their big xray machine was not plugged in. I had to take an xray with this little yellow and black thing placed really far in the back of my mouth. It was so unpleasant and made me gag a little but everyone was patient with me and made me feel better. They really went out of their way I felt to make sure I was comfortable and not embarrassed for crying over it.

I only thought it would be a consultation appointment, but was relieved when the doctor(Dr. Jeff A. Alford) asked if I had time to do it today. Its painful, but I'm glad its over and the headaches and pain from the impaction will be gone as well. The doctor was really good. I chose nitrous because I had eaten breakfast. He made sure to ask if I felt any pain and to let me know what was coming during the procedure. I'm not a very brave person, but it wasn't awful at all. I will be returning to him for sure in the future for my next wisdom tooth extraction.

I would suggest this place to anyone. I was treated like I mattered even if I was paying out of pocket. The staff are all so friendly and really listen to what you have to say. I only wish I could give them more stars.

My experience getting my wisdom teeth removed at Dr. Widner's office was amazing. The staff was super friendly and awesome. They were very professional and took great care of me. I was very nervous about getting my wisdom teeth removed but they were amazing and answered any and all of my questions. The procedure was over before I even knew it started. I had very little pain after and almost no swelling. I would defiantly recommend Dr. Steven Widner to anybody.  Him and his staff were amazing. :)

I wish there was a ten star instead of a five star. I had a wisdom tooth extracted and I ate a hamburger just two or three hours later! I did not remember sleeping or waking from the anesthesia (twilight zone). It was like it had never happened. It was done very quickly and all I remembered was getting the anesthesia and then I was told to go into another room and asked for my ride. I was like what was going on and when will they do their job on my tooth. They was like they were done and I was very good to go home. I ended up going to the bowling alley with my friends and ate a hamburger. LOL.

OH and one more thing, his surgical assistant knew the sign language and it was a big plus. She did an excellent job, too.

I agree with Jennifer P.  I wish there was a ten star instead of a five star.

After years of dentists telling me I needed to get my wisdom teeth out and me refusing, I started having problems with one that was partially through.

Being the type of gal that cries during fillings, I was freaked thinking about having one out, let alone four.

During the initial consult, Dr. Widner took awesome panoramic xrays, showed me the problem teeth and discussed the risks. My teeth were impacted so they had to be surgically extracted rather than pulled.

I was given the option of twilight sedation vs nitrous oxide. There's no way in hell I'd have any of that done awake, so I opted for the full sedation.
Dr. Widner gave me all my prescriptions to fill in advance which was a bonus (Vicodin, Antibiotics, Steroids)

On the day of my surgery, I arrived and was whisked into the chair. I'm very thankful that I wasn't left to sit in the waiting room or an exam room and freak out. The procedure was explained again then I was fed a cocktail of anesthetic. I don't remember anything else, and just woke up crying in the recovery room. I'm not sure why I was crying, but the doc explained it was a side effect of the anesthetic.
Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the antibiotic (which i've taken before) so Dr. Widner was quick to offer me samples of a different type of antibiotic. So two weird reactions to meds (not docs fault, my bodies fault) and two good explanations and alternative meds given.

The staff was extremely caring and professional.

I'm not gonna lie and say it didn't hurt, because it definitely hurt for a few days after, but it was nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be.The office gave me a take home full face icepack which definitely helped the swelling.

I followed all instructions to a T, and didn't get the dreaded dry sockets that I've heard horror stories about. I would advise to buy some extra gauze ahead of time though, because the amount he gave me wasn't enough for the amount of times I had to change my dressing.

I am extremely impressed with Dr. Widners office and would recommend his practice to anyone. I may need Jaw Surgery in the future and if I do, I will definitely be returning.

Well, it's too bad that Monica is the face of the company and she managed to single handedly ruin my entire experience at this office.  She got my balance wrong, got my surgery details wrong and was totally rude.  I guess she's not used to seeing many black people come in that know what they are doing and can catch her errors.  She screwed everything up and common sense should tell you not to upset a patient before surgery.  What a jackass. If you know anything about me from reading then you know that I do not deal with incompetent, unprofessional people.  The only reason I stayed was because I had already prepared for this ridiculous surgery, took off work and drove all the way over there for it!! They are getting 3 stars because of her, not because of Dr. Widner which was great.  He was gentle and caring and he did such a fabulous job.  Everything seemed so seamless.  I didn't even know the surgery was over even though I was wide awake.  He called to check on me the same night.  Well, things don't always go as planned.

I should probably begin by mentioning that while my wisdom teeth extraction was performed at Dr. Widner's office, my surgeon was Dr. Jeff Alford. I went to my consultation knowing i had impacted teeth and had no surprises there. Cheri was the surgical assistant who did my xrays and let me tell you, she REALLY put me at ease with the whole thing. She was extremely sweet and I instantly knew i would have to have the procedure here no matter what. I scheduled it for 2 wednesdays later and on the day of, i was TERRIFIED. I got in the chair, and as cheri was asking how i was and when I last ate, i just started bawling. The idea of IV sedation scared me beyond belief and i had never been sedated before. She dropped everything she was doing and came over to calm me down. she kept assuring me i would be fine, she made it clear that she understood why i was afraid and addressed all of my concerns. I was finally able to regain my composure and felt better but was still very nervous. The lady came in and placed my IV while cheri made sure i was ok. Eventually i was having strange dream like visions and suddenly i opened my eyes, saw my feet, and couldnt believe it was over. I didnt feel any pain, but man i was a little out of touch with reality. They were very accommodating and made sure i was fully recovered before sending me on my way with my friend who had to drive me. The procedure took a little over 30 minutes for all 4 teeth and practically NO swelling. They put a steroid in the IV to help with that. Dr. Alford was always easy to talk to and very fun to have as a surgeon. You can tell he demands excellence and professionalism at work and his staff exudes that tremendously. I felt very well taken care of the entire time and am  actually a little sad to say i wont have any more surgical needs (fingers crossed anyway) because now who knows when i will get that kind of care and attention at any other type of appointment. They really are awesome. If you are reading this because you are thinking about going here, DO IT. Their xray imaging is impressive and  i work at a vet so i see xrays all the time. When i was 'waking up' i vaguely remember discussing interior design work being done, so if traditional furniture and wall colors dont suit you, maybe that will put you at ease (however i feel places who need to overdo the modern look are compensating SOMEHOW) so if thats an issue, dont let it be. i want surgeons who focus on patients and safe practice over surgeons who are concerned with design and image in their lobby. Besides, i never waited more than 5 minutes all 3 times i have been there so you spend the least amount of time there. The girls up front are very nice. I was nervous and made a lot of phone calls so poor nicole got to deal with me, but she never made me feel like a bother and they took care of billing like champs. I was never worried about costs because they detailed what i was paying and even showed me what insurance covered beforehand so i wouldnt have to worry about owing anything later. All in all, check them out for any surgical needs, and you will be happy I wrote such a long review. They are great, cheri was my favorite, and even though I have not met Dr. Widner (I will on friday when i get my dry socket dressing changed) Dr. Alford was great and the staff really will take care of you!
