J-lounge by your boy JY...........
1. It's probably my favorite place to go to when I wanna club. If you don't want to go to Hollywood then come here. It's in Downtown and it's conveniently located next to J-Town and K-town and not too far from C-Town.. So if you want to grub on some late night Oriental cuisine you're good to go!
2. Dress code: The only thing I hate is that you have to wear dress shoes. I'm all about comfort and style. I would just wear my chucks all day every day but if you're not wearin' Dress shoes as a guy, you're not gonna get in..........
3. In case you don't know, it's actually conjoined with a restaurant as well. Though, the actually lounge has multiple floors and a super nice rooftop bar.....
4. Hotties...... Especially AZN hottie. Yeah, you know the type.... The super stuck-up lookin, Bleach blonde hair sporting, short skirt wearing....."you're not GOOD ENOUGH TO TALK TO ME OR GET WITH ME" type...... The crowd is diverse but I go here for the Asian honeys....
5. Guys..... you have your typical bunch. You have the AZN gangsta wannabe shaved head smokin' a cigarette, I have badly grown facial hair, don't look at me again or I will shank you type.... The super dorky nerdy fobby type... (They give clubs some flavor) and you're diverse crowd....
6. What I love about this place is the SISTAS...... Sistas love to get down. They love to dance. They don't care with who or how bad you are but they know how to GET DOWN............. I love gettin' down with the Sistas.....
7. The drinks are moderately priced.... and you will always see someone you know.
8. Overall, I always have a good time at this venue. There are a lot of promoting events that occur at this club.
9. Rule of thumb.... Never use the women's bathroom if you're a guy. One time the line for the guys was longer than the womens... I don't even know how that is even possible but it happened. I had to go so I went into the female's restroom and did my business. But immediately afterwards got kicked out for usin' the women's restroom. It was 1:30am anyway. No harm and no foul. If you are a male and have a small bladder and can't wait...... Or if you don't have enough balls to walk into the women's restroom to do your thing..... Then J-lounge may not be the venue for you.
10. Oh yeah, when I went there everyone kept on complimenting me on my fedora... They kept on callin' me the Asian Jason Mraz. If you want to get compliments just wear a straw fedora....
Halloween Night.
3 DJs
2 Sucked
of course the Suckiest one was the MOST popular.
I ended up spending most of my eve in the House-Electro room which was predictably EMPTY, while the rest of the joint was PACKED.
It was also somewhat breathable on the extensive outdoor patio which me likied.
What me didn't likey so much was getting in a fight on the same outdoor patio. Yep, a fight. Doesn't that shit happen in like....HIGH SCHOOL?
ugh. what a douchebag he was. started the fight for no reason whatsoever. connected with two punches to my face or so i thought. they musta been pussy punches b/c my visage is completely unscathed.
my shoulder, however, that's another case. sprained it when i tackled the assholic foo' and crashed into the concrete wall surrounding the patio.
apparently, arms flailing in the melee, he also hit another dood (another pussy punch of course), and even hit a girl and bruised her chin. SUPER fucko move, hitting a girl. whoa.
anyway. he got promptly plucked by security and thrown out on his ass, as he shoulda been.
the bartenders bought me a few rounds of drinks on the house. Nice Rx!!!! I like the way these peeps think! helped numb my bruised shoulder and shake it all nite long.
Drinks were less pricey than i expected.
I'd like a bit more diversity in the crowd (it was a veritable 'Asian Invasion', not that there's anything wrong with that), but all in all it was a lot more fun than i expected, espesh due to the swath of really bad bad BAD reviews for this J Lounge place that have preceded mine....
DONE.
While in town for boring work stuff, I had dinner here w/ some of my coworkers. In preparation, I admit to reading Yelp reviews before arriving...and I was nervous. My imagination ran wild and conjured up scenarios where my dinner would be interrupted by fist fights, bad electro music, hipsters, and Wesley Snipes.
I'm very glad to say that my worst fears did not come true. In fact, I had a very good dinner here - waaaaay beyond my expectations. The table started w/ an Italian truffle risotto - delicious. I'm glad it was only a small bite for each person...any more would have sent me into heavenly carb overload and I would have missed the rest of the meal. My appetizer was the tuna tartare, and it was perfect. Melt in your mouth om nom nom. I had the flat iron steak as my main - this was the only miss. Very disappointing - it was a perfect rare, but was overly chewy and not seasoned enough. I had a taste of my coworker's ribeye, however, and WOW. It was like buttah. Easily one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life...and I know my way around a steak...my elevated cholesterol doesn't lie.
Highly recommended for dinner. Some previous comments mention that it's overpriced...I would disagree...the price matches the quality.
Hmmm, went with some of my guy friends and gotta say it was ahhright. Music was good, back patio was koo, it was kinda a weird set up in the club but not complaining. Not to much to say about this place other than I had a pretty good time, most def will return.
ADDICTION SATURDAYS AT J-LOUNGE
First of All, Came here this past weekend I wanted to do something different for my b-day instead of typical Las Vegas and San Diego so decided to celebrate my birthday in L.A., I was recommended to come here to J Lounge & also was informed to have a collared shirt. Jeans are Okay and I believe sneakers were okay but fellas bring a back up plan of casual shoes (Just in Case). Females you can wear whatever!
Paid $8 for parking but make sure after you pay you get your ticket they give you because another guy tried to hustle and up sell me again when I said "Hey, I already paid! Are you Serious?!"
Got in for Free without guest list. Tip for Thought: Get Friendly with promoters it does wonders and will help you save $ in your pocket.
As I walked in I noticed an elegant dining area but it was covered and headed up stairs where you will see a full set up bar and right across the bar is a smoking lounge and get your mingle on. About a few stairs up before and after the bar there is a dance floor very reasonable sized dance floor to get your groove on.
Once you finish getting your groove on and in need to release head upstairs to the rest room but be careful of hitting the bathroom attendant while you open the door because I did it once! Opps! My Bad!
Afterwards, I went two floors down from the restroom and I was amazed at this very spacious outdoor patio with a beautiful view of Downtown LA with also another bar wow I'm loving this atmosphere! So after mingling with friends I bumped into Lala she was a promoter for Blended and I got 2 free patron shots :D because I told her it was my b-day. After the patron shots I felt loose went to the dance floor and got my groove on! Disco Disco! LoL They had a variety of hip hop and pop songs but overall good music.
[Highlight of the Night] Night ended at 2am, how time flies when you are having fun! Once I came outside I bumped into super model Misa Campo and initiated a simple friendly conversation and got a picture with her =)
Oh plus theres a hot dog guy down the street near the parking lot $5 each I think pricy but worth it for you inebriated fun loving people
J Lounge was everything I hoped for in a LA Hollywood type club big and spacious with party people but this spot is located in Downtown L.A. yes it will suck coming here because of traffic so plan accordingly. Overall I enjoyed my nightlife at J Lounge and I will surely come again! Peace Yelp Heads!
Ohhhhhkay. Let me tell you about JLounge.
$5 valet on Olive and 11th, get on the guestlist/schmooze a promoter to get in for free, pricey drinks, alright venue, top 40 DJ... blah blah blah okay. Now for my riveting story.
My friend saw Wesley Snipes inside as we were exiting.
This is not the riveting story.
As we were waiting outside, security ushers this guy out, who is unfortunately looking disheveled and slightly bloody. Before we had time to speculate, we suddenly see feet flying through the air as this other guy attempts to DROP KICK this dude for whatever reason. All violence, more kicking, and f-bombing chaos ensues. Yep, this is Asian night at JLounge, my friend. MORTAAAL KOMBAAAT!!!
Man, I wish Wesley Snipes could have stepped outside to contribute some dropkicks as well. But you know, maybe they all got a chance to hug it out in the end, and they can all laugh about it later, like "hey, remember that time you tried to dropkick me? Good times!" But as for me and JLounge, I'm not sure if we'll be able to reconcile that trauma. Or maybe I just won't be venturing outside on the streets of Downtown unless someone's got my back. Preferably Wesley Snipes.
Dropped about 3K with this establishment for a sponsored going away party. The event turned out great despite some of the poorest service I've witnessed at any reputable bar/restaurant. The food was horrible, dry and basically tasted like sandpaper with salt. Drinks were crazy expensive - like $18 for a basic Rum and Coke that'd cost $11 at a high-end bar. And this spot is anything but high-end. Dirty carpet, stained walls and couches with liquid stains on them that could have been anything! To boot, the main couch near the DJ booth was soaking wet when we got there.
The sounds system malfunctioned every ten minutes or so, and multiple DJ's couldn't get both turntables to play records. Then, a video tribute to the guest of honor that also didn't play.
When we asked for a partial refund. They offered a free meal instead. No thanks.

wack. so i've tested this place out for a nightclub, lunch and happy hour. on each occassion it… Read more »
Been there twice and the 1st time was a much better experience. The 2nd time, the crowd was reduced by 1/2. Food was mediocre- Not bad but not exactly fit for the price they ask for.
Dancing was ok but the dance floor was practically empty unfortunately.
The best thing about this place is the ambiance and the location of downtown L.A.
They should invest a bit more on promoting and on better restaurant service. Waiter was on the arrogant side.
j lounge. not too shabby.
our friend new the promoter so we bypassed the line and got in easily with no cover. pretty sweet.
outside lounge area is really chill. lots of seating. lots of heat lamps to keep you warm and it has a couple bars.
dance floor is fun. can get sweaty and packed but i guess thats what makes it fun? music was poppppppppin .....drinks werent overpriced. bartenders were quick. mixed crowd.
we had a great time. thanks j. we'll be back.
not bad at all but depending on the events. Also be sure to dress it up because the crowd is older. Have fun and tear up the dance floor indoors. Bars are quite packed as well. Restroom access isn't the greatest.
This place is alright. I came here for a friend's birthday.
I ate in the restaurant. The ahi tartare was really good and fresh.
Later, I went up to the lounge. The music was alright, but wasn't really feeling it.
I have to say that the website make the place look a lot cooler than what it is. This place didn't meet my expectations.
Friday nights are dead and music is bad.
Saturday is Asian night and there are a good amount of people. My friends got a table with bottle service. I arrived kinda late around midnight.
It was SO obvious that the promoters were trying to rip me off. I told them that we had a table inside and this girl was about to check for me, but another girl goes.. "oh, they didn't get bottle service, they were just on the guestlist that ended at 10pm... sorry you have to pay $15 cover charge" I didn't want to argue so I went into the line, but when I got to the door another girl wanted to charge me $20. I talked to the 1st girl outside and she couldn't do anything about it..
I called up my cousin who was inside and she said that we DID have table service, but they didn't have any more comps left so I would have to pay cover... Ok fine, whatever that other girl flat out lied to me... So I go back into the line and I'm behind two other guys who are having a hard time with the $15/$20 pricing as well... we were just standing there trying to figure things out and finally a guy came back and verified the $15 cover was OK.
That whole experience ruined it for me... otherwise I would've given the venue a 4 star rating.
I would've given them 1 star, but the valet helped them earn 2. It costs a lot $10, but the guys are honest. I left an LV case in plain sight and it was still there when i got my car back so kudos to them!
UPDATE 11/13/09: I came back here on Halloween night because my friend made me. Big mistake.
Entrance Handling - TERRIBLE. Guy with whack toga in the front was power trippin' and wouldn't let our promoter friend escort us in the quicker way. I can't believe we paid for this.
Dance Floor Inside: TERRIBLE. Ceilings are low and no walking space. You have to walk by sweaty people to get around.
Music Outside: TERRIBLE. You can't hear anything, but maybe that's a good thing because the music was whack as well.
Bathrooms: TERRIBLE. Long lines.
The only thing good about the event were the costumes. We got a photo with the Kanye bear.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
Spot is definitely a summer jump off. Went there the other night for my boys' bday. Very large outdoor patio, music in the patio was pretty quiet which was kinda wierd but cool that I could have conversations. Club inside is nice sized, only complaint is they have bad ventilation on the dancefloor. Venue is pretty big, and I never had a problem getting a drink @ one of their 3 bars. Had bottle service, so drinks were everywhere.
Also I read a lot about the dresscode upscale this and that, shit was not upscale I'd give it fashionable at best. sneakers are cool if they fly everyone had on vans and cons, main thing is a collard shirt i guess. make sure to end the night with a danger dog for a few bucks at either end of the block.
pros:
Very large outdoor patio
3 bars
definitely a lot places to lounge
Ice cream truck?
Plenty of close parking
beautiful people
cons:
music not all that loud
bathrooms were small
they had port-a-potties? (ya iono what that was about)
overall I'll be back had a great time.
Was here last night for an event - Fall launch of Signature magazine.
The venue is quite spacious. I especially enjoyed the outside/terrace area that had tables and chairs for people to sit down and maybe enjoy some food as well as little bungalows for lounging.
For those who are reading this review please take it with a grain of salt because I didn't experience completely what the J lounge has to offer since, like I mentioned earlier, I went for a cocktail and magazine launch.
There's street parking and of course valet.
The J lounge is definitely on my "to go back" list. Would like to try the food that they offer and other cocktails.
Overall, the experience was good - it is what it is.
My first time to J lounge.. most of the people that i asked said the place's pretty nice place~~ one of the few they actually enjoyed going.. mostly because of the out door patio~~ very nice environment~~~
LOVVEE the firepit~~ but please don't get toooo close or else girls might ACCIDENTLY burn your hair if somone ACCIDENTLY pushed u... haha~~~
it''s more like a 3 level lounge.. only reason they called it 2 level cause third floor dance floor and 2nd floor lounge is only 3 steps higher~~ but yeah~~ i would consider it 3 level ~~~
Dance floor gets bit crowded after awhile~~ n kinda humid~~cause not high ceiling~~~ but other than that.. everything's great~~~
I never ate here yet~~ but when i went last saturday the food looked great~~ gonna try it sometimes ~~ soon~~~ n will review on it later~~
Friday night birthday party and Cerritos All Stars spinning make for a fun night. We started off the night with 3 jager bombs, 2 mixed drinks, and a beer for $68, and went from there. We were on the guestlist so we didn't have to pay a cover charge.
The outside patio was a nice place, but no view even though its three stories high. The dance floor is spacious enough for a lot of people, and i like that its separated from the rest of the bar.
I'm not too much of a fan of the restrooms being upstairs because with the wife in heels i had to make sure she got up them ok especially after a few drinks.
My review is for the lounge not the restaurant.
My advice --go elsewhere, there are nicer spots to hang out and have a drink.
We arrived at 1 am on a Friday night because honestly I didn't have high expectations for this place anyways.
Even though we were on the guestlist they still wanted us to pay $15 for cover AT 1 AM because the bottle service purchase only covered 10 ppl. Whatever, it was already 1 AM.
They could have at least made $$ on us at the bar but F that they get no cover $$ and no bar $$.
My friend had to use the restroom really bad and the guy at the cash register (I'm assuming he was a promoter) was being a complete A-hole. He was practically yelling at her to pay $15.
After a doorman heard me complain, he allowed my friend to go in to use the restroom.
WOW. When will these club promoters and bouncers learn that WE the people MAKE your business. WE make your paychecks happen and therefore you shouldn't treat us like caca OR cattle.
Restaurant owners should pay more attention to who they rent out their place to and their promotion staff because this place sucks and I will NEVER catch myself inside here.
The place itself is quite nice and with plenty of places to sit. The dj typically spins top 40 hip-hop and dance music. The dance floor is joke. Your better serve going to a club if you want to dance. A good place to chill, knock back a few, and people watch.
My advise, don't go for dinner. But i guess the bar is OK. Even though there are dozens of better bars to chose from in LA with better locations and friendlier service.
And, I forgot to mention that the drinks at the bar were overpriced, yet they were still weak.
This place was pretty packed the Saturday night I went. Thanks to the organized club promoters keeping the line in order the wait wasn't too bad. There is quite a bit of space to move around in this bar. An open outdoor patio, the upstairs area, the smoking patio AND the dance floor. The DJ played good music, but he kept talking over the songs. My friends and I just wanted to tell him to please shut up! Anyway... It would be nice of they piped in the DJ from upstairs onto the outdoor patio because the dance floor was super hot! I had to hunt down an air vent and stand right underneath it.
Overall good experience, except I no longer have the patience to wait in line for entry for 15 minutes, then wait another 15 at the bar for a drink. I probably won't go back.
I don't go clubbing like I used to but I took an invitation and I actually had a decent time here. I was a bit intoxicated before even walking in this place so maybe that enhanced my mood. I went with my boyfriend and 3 of my girlfriends. We drank, danced and laughed. Pretty decor. I didn't like how it was almost like a war zone in the parking lot. I couldn't tell if the parking lot employees were doing all of the yelling but I know somebody was pissed and loud out there. Anyway, good place to come when you're in a group and you just want to chill out or shake your booty.
[Highlight of the night] While in line in the big boy's room, MISA CAMPO was freakin next to me in LINE but I was such in a drunken stupor I failed to initiate some sort of contact. I lose, game over, GG.
And yes, for SUURRE she's a 10. Misa, I HEART you~!
J-Lounge on Saturday night is one of the best clubbing experiences I've had in a long time. First of all, in my general experiences of clubbing, when you get to Hollywood, you usually have the younger, attractive BUT broke girls who on more than several occasions, will hustle guys for drinks. However, when you get to j-lounge, you get the whole package. The women here are slightly older (or should I say mature), attractive, intelligent and independent. +1
Secondly, the $15 dollar cover is slightly cheaper than most places. Bouncers here are not assholes or use their enormous girth to push ppl around, and many of the promoters are approachable and friendly.
Third, the line actually moves... (I say this because I went to The Standard and we waited outside for at least an hour and a half only to move about 15 feet closer to the entrance, even though there was at least 50+ people in front of us; damn you Weekend Standard).
Fourth, even for picky people, it's easy to appreciate the setup and overall vibe you get from J-lounge. 2 levels; a restaurant and minibar downstairs and on the second level, a full bar with a smoking patio area, full dance floor and a good amount of tables, sofas/couches and lounge chairs. What makes this place more appealing is the outdoor patio area. It's huge and can accomodate the huge crowds that come here on Saturdays. There is also a huge projector that reflects images against a brick background from a neighboring building.
However, 3 things can be somewhat of a nuisance or hassle...
This is the first time I've been to a club where the guy's line for the restroom is long and longer than the women's restroom. Second, it's hot as a mother****** upstairs, so ventilation is a big negative. Lastly, drinks are a little pricey; or maybe its because I started buying rounds for everyone...
Yeah, I'm a fan of this place.
This place is whack!! I came here for a friend bday. The restaurant looks nice and the food is good. If you are considering to go here to hang out and to mingle I would suggest a different place. First of all the dance floor is small and low ceiling. The dance floor gets really hot too. The crowd is a mixture, some older people and some look like they are 18. The DJ there don't know how to spin at all mixing all the wrong beats. In the end I would come back here for the food but not for a lounge. Oh yeah one more thing, I know it's a lounge but people there either dress way too nice or way too casual.
I had a great time with the people I came here with on a Saturday night but this place blows! $15 cover sucks. $80+ for seven mixed shots, and they automatically included gratuity!!! WTF?! The DJ was just alright (DJ Sonic from Cerritos All-stars), he had some pretty good tunes but just didn't have the skill to mix them at all. I almost had a seizure with all the flashing/strobe lights they used, can you say overkill??
I would have given this place 1 star but I gave them an extra star for their spacious lounge and patio area. Although you do have to climb some stairs to go to the restrooms, not very safe while you're intoxicated.
I really hope none of my friends tries to plan an event here because I simply refuse to come back!
This is the second time I've been here. Although it was way more crowded (thin kthere was a special event of some kind... all kinds of asians were saying "ill get you in free" to each other outside) it was still a waste of money
First time: Dinner & club
Dinner: Good!!! My bf ordered pulled pork dish... my dish was a tempura appetizer. tasted like it had been fried earlier in the day. =(
club: meh. music was sucky. think the dj might just be sucky since it was sucky this time too. =( I understand that he/she might not want to "Waste" the good songs while peops are still getting liquored up to shake their bootays... but this was just plain bad choices, they werent even the kind of songs that get you psyched to danced.
When peops finally started to dance, the music choices were only SLIGHTLY better.
wont be going back
tips are auto-added to drinks
parking is in the lot before the lounge on the left or across from the lounge on the right. the one on the left is 7... the one on the right is 10??? cant remember
$15 per person
A bit biased cause we just started doing events here, but here are some tips:
- There is NO 18% automatic gratuity included anymore to your tab (unless you order bottle service for groups of 6 or more)!
- Valet is $10 / Self-park is $7 / Street-parking at meters is FREE
- Perfect for those who want a balance of club/dance floor and chill outdoor lounge - you can make it all night without visiting the dance floor or vice versa, but yes the dance floor is a bit small
- Lots of lounge beds outside the patio with a very nice fire pit, with plenty of cabanas for bottle service and birthdays
- They just added a sushi bar menu for the outdoor patio that is served all night until last call
- Cigars and extensive wine list available at the 2nd floor bar
- Free before 10PM on guestlist, discounted 'til 10:30PM, and $15 general admission
I can't remember the last time I paid a cover. I'm a dive bar kinda gal so when my friend told me we were coming here, I immediately sent back a link to the Vintage Bar Group. When they were figuring out what time we should head over, I threw out a suggestion for Library Bar instead. I don't have to do divey, but dressy lounges? Um..no. But alas, all my efforts were useless because we ended up here right after dinner. I was dressed for a bar, smelling like KBBQ, when we got in the shortest line I've ever seen on a Sat. night. We waited a couple of minutes before they let us in..right into a $15 cover. I tried to play it off and said I thought it was only $10. Nope..$15 it is. We paid and walked right into...a restaurant. As in, ppl are still eating dinner. Damn, we're REALLY early.
We headed downstairs to the outside patio where we (and others around us) watched a cockroach making its rounds to the amusement of others, not so much mine. We then headed upstairs to the dance floor, which was practically empty at that hour. Awesome, I like me some space. Unless of course they're only playing rap back-to-back and I'm feeling like I'm back in Oakland. However, I did like that the DJ later played my song within a minute of my request. So one star for that =). But once the ppl started piling in, I was definitely over this place.
The second star is for the dirty dogs right outside the lounge. Only $4 (prob. because it wasn't grilled), but no lines and we could smell as soon as we left.
Do yourself a favor and skip this place - don't waste your money when there's so many better places in Downtown.
For the most part, I agree with the negative reviews on here. Its gotten a lot better though. I went for Halloween this year. Since one of my friends lives in dtla, we walked over to the party. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when we got there. I was thinking to myself, it's probably another over-hyped party and I'll just leave in an hour. This time... they had games, popcorn, cotton candy... and the set-up was pretty impressive. Needless to say, I was wrong. J Lounge really cleaned up and made some good improvements since the last time I was here. No more 18% gratitude tax on drinks... cause before that was a deal-breaker for me... I like the vibe and quick n friendly bartenders... The decor is still beautiful as always... Personally, I would rather avoid the drive/traffic to Hollywood and hit a few bars in dlta... all in walking distance... With all the new developments around the area, downtown is starting to become alive again.
I have been here twice for the lounge and no eating...I still don't particularly like it. They were charging $15 for cover and it's not like they have a huge dance floor or anything. We went on a Saturday and it was just about all Asians (except for one corner where there's a private party going on). The dance floor is small and stuffy (no air circulation whatsoever!). And if I remember correctly, they automatically include a 15% gratuity on your drinks...that's how it was the first time I went there anyway. What's up with that? I just was not impressed with the place. It's got an upstairs, downstairs and an open courtyard where you get a decent view of the LA skyscrapers but who cares!?
Saturday night:
$8 for parking+$15 for cover+$10 per drink + shitty music+dull crowd= go somewhere else.
Never again.
This is the best place for a Bachelorette Party--hands down! The bar is swanky and subdued--great lighting, great design features--a great place if you're not into the gaudy and annoying "Hollywood" bars that pepper the Sunset Strip. We opted for bottle service which was, in my opinion, the only way to go if you're with a large group. The music was great all night--a good mix with a little for everyone. The drinks were awesome (the Mango Mojito's were absolutely delicious). Our server, the bartenders, and the management helped make this one of the most enjoyable nights I've had out in L.A. Glad we made the trip downtown--it was well worth it!
Although this was a midweek retreat, It was impressive! Not the large crouds and great service. I went with about 14 people and we had arranged for them to extend US the happy hour prices longer for US!!! 1/2 priced sandwiches and other basic meals, great drink prices! If going with many people I sugest calling ahead, doing a weekday and asking for speial treatment! It was BEAUTIFUL AND FUN!
I went here for a friends celebration and it was my first time. A bonus it was Friday night and parking was only $5.00 and we got in for free !! Wooot!!!
Ok I don't really know how much the drink was since they got some type of table outside. It was kinna nice with three sofas where you can sit three people on each part.
It was very nice. But the place was very very dead. :/ The music was very loud and just a tip the place where you go and dance is on the second floor ! :)
The entrance to get into the place makes it look like its a restaurant and then you walk further to the outside. The outside is very pretty and big. I wouldn't really say this is a happening spot to be at though. So really I didn't have much fun :/
But it was ok in my opinion because I only spent $5.00 :P
The j lounge is a great lounge to party with friends. The lounge has a good size outdoor patio, a bar section without the crowds, and most importantly a good size dance floor. The dress code is pretty trendy, so if u plan to go to the j lounge make sure u look your best.
I honestly wasn't mad at J Lounge
Came here for a birthday party on Saturday and there was no cover for us since we were on the guest list. Valet was standard 10 dollars, but there was a bunch of lots that were charging five and there was street parking a block north from there.
This place was very spacious.. Multi leveled.. Multiple bars.. It was pretty easy to get a drink here even though it was crowded. I don't know how much the drinks were... But after everything was said and done and buying people a grip of drinks the tab came out to $130 which wasn't bad at all.
The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that they pretty much ran out of all the cigars we wanted to try. They for sure need to restock their inventory!
I'm always more forgiving when it comes to larger clubs but J Lounge really wasn't that bad. So I guess that'll translate to a 3 star?
3 stars goes to having places to sit, heat lamps in the patio to keep you warm, yet A/C on full blast to keep you cool and a pretty bumpin sound system.
Parking was $5 on the side of the club and cover was free for girls on the glist.
It was a one time event, so even though it was to be catered to a certain crowd, I couldn't help but notice I felt like I was in Atlanta. This older gentlemen even dressed up in an all white suit like he was Don "Magic Juan". QUITE interesting =P
The dance floor is about the size of someone's large closet and the height on that sucker is maybe 6'0. So if you're above 5'8 or 5'9, you're going to feel like you're going to hit your head!
The only thing about this place is that it's multi-leveled which makes it a bit difficult if you are drunk. Hold on to the railings ladies or you're going to be eatin' it!
Parking lot next to the lounge is $7! Not bad! No cover before 10pm guestlist, so get there early!
This bar is extremely dim, very chill and reserved and one thing i loved about the bar is the ridiculous amount of seating in each room! Patios had a lot of heat lamps also! Keeping you warm if you plan on sitting outside. Security was pretty chill, they werent jerks about anything.
Bathroom was on the 2nd level, so watch your step going up and down the flight of stairs! The patio downstairs was big, wasnt really feeling the music down there, but I would recommend chillin down there if you are on a date with someone, you wouldnt have to yell or scream in each other's ear and there are nice small canopy rooms with couches to sit and chill in!
Drinks are Hollywood priced, but very good and pretty strong.
There is a smaller room in the back which played the Top 40 stuff, it gets a little crowded in there, but for the most part, still big enough to dance without bumping into anyone, unless you're a crazy drunk dancer who jumps everywhere spilling your drinks on ppl! =/ grrrrr!
I had a good night celebrating my cousin's DIRTY THIRTY! The crowd was alright, it was too AZN for me that night (this was a Saturday night), probably about 90% that night. No offense tho! i just prefer diverse crowds, Im diagnosed with jungle fever. lol
oh yeah and of course! the hot dog vendor was there at the end of the night. Grabbed me a bacon wrapped dog for $3. soooo delicious =D
I used to come to J-Lounge a lot about 2 years ago. The place was pretty popular and some people went there every weekend. It was something new back then when downtown started developing and all of a sudden there were all these cool/hip bars and lounges, and J-Lounge was one of them.
After more than a year, I went back to J-Lounge for an APEX (asian professional exchange) event last night. The place didn't look like what it used to. They had a huge tent that covered the whole outside area. I don't know if it was for the event, or they did that because it's been raining a lot in LA. The cabanas and the little bonfire was useless and out of place under the huge tent that we were in.
and...
What happened to their selection of alcohol?!?!? I ordered black and diet and they didnt have JW Black! They didn't even have Patrone on their shelf. Drinks are pricey and they add 20% gratuity automatically!!!
I don't think I would come back here again. Seriously there are a lot of other nice bars and lounges in downtown now. Sorry J-Lounge you are not as great as you used to be!
First off, im freakin 23 yrs old to be carrying a FAKE ID.
this douchebag thought i was using a fake ID...AGAIN WHAT?! i thought hes just messing with me.lol.turns out he was being serious..
after being a complete moron he says "sorry miss nextime il know".yea thats right they have to make us wait outside for 20 minutes to confirm if my ID was real.yea DAMN right nextime dont be stupid and uninformed not to know the new current ID changes, doorman.
for the club part,it was chill and cool, drinks are stiff, good ventilation on the dance floor.
