Review from Bill H.
I came in on a Sunday night after my ride broke down in Latham. The crowd was especially light, so I can't comment on what "the scene" is like on a typical night. The beers were relatively pricey: $4-$5 compared to cheaper beers down the street at Mouse Trap. Service was excellent. In fact, most of the entertainment from the evening came from the guy sitting next to us at the bar, who hopelessly hit on the extraordinarily patient bartender all night long.
We ordered dinner, too. I forget what my partner ordered, but I got a steak wrap, which was very chewy but was tasty otherwise.
I'd go back here again on a regular night if I was in the area again. -

The porch is nice in the summer...that's it. This is the kind of place that looks fun when you walk in. The draft beer tastes like old bacteria (I am a stickler about clean taps.....go to the heritage in colonie for great tating drafts)the food is OK, the bar tenders are aloof and bored looking. I really hate coming here....

I ate here last Wed. afternoon and my meal was pretty gross. I ordered the turkey sandwich and literally had to wring out the bread because it was so soaked in butter. My diet coke glass was also not fully washed out--as I could taste the residue from a prior patron's rum and coke. Free alcohol, anyone?
On the plus side, the service was friendly/quick. -

We stopped by here the night of my sister in law's bachelorette party. We got crappy music, overpriced drinks, weird atmosphere. She got a lap dance from a 60 year old man, and a nice parking lot vomit spree...needless to say, this is one classy joint.

The weirdest thing is, this isn't the tackiest bar in the area, I think Jessica Stones wins that contest while being an equal amount of shadiness. There's enough staff members to make sure no fights break out, in fact, there's enough staff members to probably make sure that the ladies and gents aren't within 2 feet of each other while on the dance floor like at some high school soiree.
I've seen some absolutely awful dancing, and it's forgivable at places that are more strictly bars. But this professes to have a mild dance floor. And the dancing was just hideous. Yes, cougars are out in full force here (depending on the night, the minimum age to get in can be 23, but there were certainly people who were pushing 60), and it's interesting to see in that Latham, which can feel spread out, at least has a place that people can go to and feel like they are at least going out without having to have to go to Troy or downtown Albany. In other words, it's a large enough attraction (with of course the 24 hour super PC next door) and a large enough bar and cheap enough prices (2 dollar covers I can forgive if the beers are 3). Anywhere else this would probably warrant a 2 star review, but it's kind of the cream of the crop of this area, with a couple notable exceptions.
Basically they like to make it into a place where you can hit the bar, the dance floor, or eat with their full menu of not so good food. The outdoor patio is really the key, it's fairly large with its own bar, and truthfully, even though the crowd still is a bit much with the oversized dress shirts and broseph attitude, it's really not nearly as bad as say Jillian's. Dare I say, the raise in age actually helps the maturity level slightly, and people really look like they are enjoying themselves. Because it's singular and not on a strip of bars, people probably make the most of their rounds there.
The waitress was fairly quick, and there were bussers and bus boys and girls constantly cleaning so the place was run pretty tight. 3 clams for a bud light, and 4.50 for a Guinness is a good deal.
The music was pretty awful. In fact, it was really awful. But at least we were outside.
And we had the surprise pleasure of conversing with Andrew's aunt and uncle at 1am in the morning. If they go here, I'll go here.
