7 reviews for J Earleys' Hair Salon
So I don't have curly hair, I have pin straight hair. Jackie does a great job with it, I've been going here for 3 or 4 years and she never gives me a bad haircut. My hair is very thick and its manageable the way she layers and razors it, without looking choppy.Plus she highlights it and it always looks natural and I get tons of compliments.
She also did my hair for my wedding and I was very pleased. Plus, she styled all the mothers and grandmothers and everyone looked beautiful.
I recommend Jackie for any hair type, not just curly.
Jackie is awesome! I have curly hair (and lots of it), and have struggled to find a stylist in Boston who truly knows how to, not just cut my hair, but also style it. I read some great reviews about Jackie, who's a pro with the Ouidad method of cutting curly hair, and thought I'd try it out. I'm so happy with the cut and LOVE my new head of hair.
She really took her time to ask me what I what I was looking for and explained everything she was doing. She has a great eye and knew exactly how to style my hair to frame my face. She also has a great personality and a chilled atmosphere in her salon. Worth every penny!
Jackie rocks, flat out- whether you have straight or curly hair (mine is in-between). I have TONS of hair, and have had hairdressers complain to me before- even had one hairdresser in Porter Square tell me to go home and wash and blow it out BEFORE he'd cut it...Jackie has never complained once- always a good start ;) She is very skillful, a very attentive listener and also intuitive in bringing out what you'd like even if you're not quite so sure...
Worth every dollar. What are you waiting for!!! Make an appointment- esp. if you have curly hair. If you get there early, go to St. Mary's nails in the basement...also a great place!
I have coarse hair that has a weird wave. It won't do true curls or go straight all on it's own. Jackie can transform my waves into the nicest ringlets using a blow-dryer and just her fingers. This is so cool for me, especially in the warm weather. Because even if I do pick up a little frizz it is not noticeable. Her styling lasts me a couple of days so that I don't have to shampoo - I just spritz with gel and scrunch with a diffuser. She is also the only stylist who has ever taken a razor to my hair with out making it all fly away.
J Earley's is hands down the best place I have ever gotten my curly hair cut. Great story of Jackie Earley starting up her own salon (near BU), trained in the Curlisto style (originally worked in Carriage House Salon - in Harvard Square).
$85 for the curly hair cut, but I definitely recommend the splurge. She might be a little liberal with hair gel, but after a wash you'll be a happy camper.
Yep, the price is still $85 for a curly cut, but it was nice to finally get my hair cut by someone who could back up what they were saying about curly hair with an actually decent cut.
As far as I can tell, Jackie runs this place all on her own, with just the most minimal help or possibly none.
She has a great conversational style that makes you comfortable---even though you might be the only 2 people in the shop.
I felt so good about my experience with her, I'm thinking (gasp!) I may actually try a totally different cut next time.
Jackie cut and colored my hair for several years. She doesn't do it now because the commute from Denver is too long! My hair looked better when I lived in Boston. I highly recommend Jackie.
