This place is great for breakfast and lunch, brunch. The food is fresh and service is good. This location is nice in old Roswell. I ordered the salmon BLT and that was delicious!

I really want to like this place, but i just don't and I'm not completely sure why. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I like restaurants that have character, especially for breakfast. I think I like being reminded of the greasy spoons that my Uncle took e to as a kid, and this place just doesn't do that. Don't get me wrong, I like more than breakfast dives, just not this place.

All that being said, the food is very good. I went with a group of guys and everyone liked what they had - from Eggs Benedict, to ham and eggs, to omelets. I had a Billy Goat Omelet with spinach, feta cheese (I think) and other good things. It was cooked just right - not to wet, or dry. The coffee was good as well.

The service was just OK. Polite, but a tad slow, and almost robotic. Maybe this lack of character was part of the problem I had with the place? We ran out of coffee a couple of times, and this is with two carafes on the table. This shouldn't happen, especially as they weren't that busy.

I'm sure I'll go back with friends or family, but JC's will not be a destination for me unless it is for convenience. The price vs. what you get just doesn't work for me. There are other places that I personally like better. To those who love this place, keep on eatin! :)

Nice well laid out space. You can find parking in the back. Stopped by on a Monday morning, very relaxed atmosphere. With the soft rock coming out of the speakers and my full belly I needed a nap when I was done but J. Christopher's hit the spot.

I've been to quite a few J. Christopher's but this is by far my favorite location. It's not that the food is any better here than at their other locations; it's more that this location has history and character.

Downtown Roswell is such a fun place to spend an afternoon. It looks almost like a New England village, but you're surrounded by Southern history. For instance, you could grab a bite to eat at this J. Christopher's location and then walk down to the site of the old Roswell Mill for a nice hike. The building that houses this J. Christopher's dates back to 1854, and if you ask the wait staff, they can tell you about the Union soldier and Southern belle whose tragic romance led to this building's haunting! All J. Christopher's locations have character thanks to the eclectic collection of artwork on the walls, but this location is charming on a different level.

As to the food, I absolutely love ordering off of the seasonal special menu. The pumpkin pancakes are worth the nearly year-long wait each fall. And this spring they are offering sweet potato pancakes, which are almost equally as mouthwatering. J. Christopher's also has some great options for lunch, including my favorite: the salmon BLAT--a salmon sandwich with bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato. It is SO GOOD.

I love taking out-of-town friends and family to this location, celebrating special occasions, and meeting in-town friends. I'd eat here every weekend if I could.

I have a special soft spot in my heart for J. Christophers, but not necessarily this one. : - ( I was in the area one day & if I would have realized just how close I was to my favorite I would have much rather taken the time to drive. Its not bad, but its just not great. I even splurged & got the Blueberry Crunchcakes One of J. Christopher's most popular dishes! Blueberry pancakes made with crunchy granola mixed in. An unusually tasty treat!
I was expecting to be blown over the moon by these pancakes & they were simply just "O.k." at that point I would have preferred to pick up my favorite Harvest Grain & Nut from Ihop. Maybe it was my bad...trying to find a pancake to replace those, or maybe I just expected more out of J. Christophers, but I can't say that I was necessarily impressed. : - ( Again, not terrible, just not mind blowing.

    J. Christopher's rocks my socks!  If only it stayed open after 2pm! Ugh. I have always experienced a friendly wait staff, despite the fact I never know what I want to order. Their coffee is served in Fiestaware mugs and I can never get enough of it. Sun dried tomato bagels are great if you want something light. If you're looking for something heavier try the skillets. I tend to order the french toast more than anything else. These guys have a great art collection to stare at as well.

I'm not a big breakfasty person, but if I need to take visitors out for breakfast, this is the place I do it. This is the best JC location, good ambience, service, plenty of parking. There is always something new on their menu, and quite a selection of different types of pancakes and such.

I'm sure their eggs suck because eggs just kind of tend to do that.

Wow I can't believe how many negative reviews there are for J. Chris!!  I love this place.. I don't think it's WAY overpriced.. but average.  Just because it's not as cheap as Waffle House doesn't mean it's too expensive!

I LOVE their Traditional Bfast.. Potatoes are awesome.. Eggs of course.. English Muffins are a plus.. and people are nice there..  Which is worth something!

Yea, it may be a "treat" for us "college folk" every now and then.. but totally worth it.

Like someone else mentioned, I wish it was open later than 2 sometimes.. but I think that's part of it's charm ;)

It was a bit of a journey, as it were.

As I stated in the The Wave review, I was looking for J Christopher (At least this particular one). I looked up the address again and realize that it is further north in Roswell. So I showered/changed and headed my way up.

Unfortunately, I didn't print out the direction, as my printer is on the fritz (really need to get a new one). Of course, I could have wrote the directions down, but  I figure I will rely on my memory as well as on the assumption that the place will be fairly visible from the street (Atlanta Rd is not that long of the road).

Big mistake on both parts. Adding to my confusion of trying to find the place was an Art Festival in the area, which slowed me down (and making me more grumpy and hungry).

Finally, after several passes, I finally spotted JC and after 10-15 minutes of trying to find space for my car (parking was LA bad), I managed to get to the place.

(Irony is that there is a JC not too far from where I live. Had I known that, I would have gone there instead. Oh well, Roswell looks like a nice place anyway. . .)

I went inside and greeted by a nice, artsy atmosphere within the building (the building itself seems to be around for a while - like 1920s while). There are art paintings on the wall ranging from Impressionist to Post-modern - whch fits into the whole arts village that this JC is located at.

While waiting for my place, I popped open my laptop and within a minute, I got a wireles signal to "soda"

Yippee! I got on somebody network! Me 1337 hacker!

(Of course, it turns out that JC has wireless internet in a number of locations. I guess I wasn't soo 1337 after all).

Another irony: It didn't take that long for me to get seated (about 5 minutes or so) - a big surprise, considering all the people in the festival nearby.

For food, I had blueberry cruchcakes (which is basically pancakes sprinkled with crushed granola), bacon, eggs, some fruit and oven-cooked potatoes. The pancakes weren't that great, (but to be fair, I was expecting something completely different), but the rest were alright. Then again, it is hard to mess up breakfast.

Service-wise, it was alright. My waitress did a good job, though she almost forgot my ketchup. Apparently she is having some issues with another customer, as I noticed her talking to another waitress about something  - and she doesn't look too happy (Just an observation: If you are having issues with a customer or with something, do out of view of everbody else in the restuarant).  At one point, I was tempted to walk up to the shelf and get the ketchup myself (since I noticed somebody else doing it), but then I realize that it probably isn't good idea for me (as person of color) to do it (I wasn't sure if Roswell has really moved to the 21st century).

At any rate, after that incident, she walked up to asked how I was doing and was deeply apologetic when I told her that I am still waiting for my ketchup; she rectified that immediately (and not soon enough).

Overally, it's an alright place. I think if I try more of their other dishes (such as Creme Brulee French Toast and Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict) below, I probably would have a better impression of the food, which I probably will try next week.

One thing for certain: at least it's not a waffle house.

    Yum yummy yum!
This is a good midpoint for my family to do brunch get-togethers.  Just don't be surprised if you end up waiting 30-45 minutes on Saturday or Sunday.  They have lots of tantalizing choices on the menu.  I always have a really hard time at brunch deciding if I want to go salty/savory or sweet.  Fortunately, either way I go is good.  They have things like Creme Brulee French Toast and Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict.  Also, good omelettes.

I love this place for Brunch.  It's decor and location is much better than the strip mall J Christopher's, but parking is a bit of a pain when it's busy.  Forget it if it's a Sunday when church gets out, the wait is usually 1+ hours.  Always solid on the food, but the service is hit or miss.  Great place to bring kids, and usually can accommodate pretty large tables.  Our company had a meeting there at one point in the loft area, which is really  neat, they supplied coffee and some assorted breakfast stuff.

Overall, great food and location, service is hit or miss.

This is a nice place to meet up with friends for brunch. I usually can't think of many other places for brunch besides this place and Flying Biscuit. This place is tucked inside a shopping center next to Kroger. It was not easy to find the first time I came here.

They are open only for breakfast and lunch. Their menu includes your usual breakfast items: eggs, pancakes, waffles and such. Prices are usually under $10. I think it's hard to mess up breakfasts. Food was ok whenver I eat there. There was nothing to spectacular to remember.

J Christophers is one of my favorite spots for breakfast. I went here with my parent a while back and really enjoyed the experience. The place was packed to the gills and according to my mother (who frequents this place every Sunday) it is always busy. The decor is very bright and funky- it reminded me of a cute little breakfast place that you would find at the beach. My favorite thing about J Christophers is the food. They have the most amazing chocolate chip pancakes (I know I know... bad for me... but they are SO good)

If you are in Roswell and looking for a good breakfast place I highly recommend this place.

Overrated and overpriced for food that's just mediocre.

Amara- I agree that it's the best alternative to a real diner.

The J. Christopher's brand has really gone downhill over the last few years. Attention to detail has slid, and I just don't love eating here any more. The food at this one is usually okay (at least hot), but just okay. The menu is scintillating, sure, but often fails to deliver. I enjoy the seasonal pancakes with flavors like pumpkin with nutmeg cream, but let's face it--I can't enjoy any meal when my table is sticky. And the tables are always sticky. You could make any entree at home yourself by using google and good sense.

I'll say this every time I review (if I remember) EGGS AND BACON SHOULD NOT COST THIS MUCH.... but I'll keep paying till somebody open up a real diner (No, Marietta Diner does not count, nor does that ridiculous Buckhead Diner).  A diner is a place where you rub shoulders with the guy that drives a rig, the lawyer from an office nearby, a nurse doing a lunch run, and five guys-including the cook-that you would clutch your purse from.   A real diner lets little emo kids formally known as punks sit and sip their day away on crappy coffee and french fies (I'm now old enough that I would clutch my purse from them too as I pushed my children past explaining away the purple hair being an expression of creativity that they may never express even if Mommy did it).
Why I like this J Christopher's over the other six that I semi-regularly attend: Character.  This place oozes character.  From the floor boards to the supposed roaming Ghosts.  Awesome!  Ghosts?!  Ghost tour business cards upfront to back up the story?  You're darn skippy I'll use that to keep my kids in their seats till I finish my own yummy omelette or if I'm trying to keep my tuchis this size the Apple & Sausage Crepes (OMIGOD, you must try these if you can convince them when they're out of season.  Beg, offer your first born.... I tried this, and it didn't work).
We all know it's the same J Chris you went to with your mother last week and your in-laws last month.  The difference in this location is the character.
Good luck finding the parking lot.  It's a around back.  You'll miss it the first time.

I used to work here in 98-99, I banked off the old folx that used to come here.   I still cant believe how much people pay for couple of over easy eggs and a side of bacon.  But I guess your really paying for the atmosphere, the restaurant is light and airy with a beautiful patio for summers.

Disappointing. My husband and I have eaten at two other J. Christopher's locations (one at which we were regular customers until we moved), and they were consistently good. This location, however, left much to be desired. We were immediately seated right next to a large, loud family with noisy children even though the restaurant was almost empty. Our food arrived and everything was lukewarm and bland. Our potatoes were so dried out they were inedible (they'd obviously been sitting under a heating lamp for hours). My English muffin was burned to a crisp. Our server wasn't very attentive with our drinks and didn't ask how our food was (each of us left at least half of our food uneaten because of its poor quality). A waste of money...we won't be back to this location.

Pumpkin pancakes intrigued me but just couldn't go through with ordering them..lol.. on my 1st visit i had an omelet with avocados fresh salsa and cheese.. accompanied by potatoes and an English muffin!!.... all in all a better and more healthier deal then IHOP  or the "awful waffle" for breakfast check em out!!!

I've been to a few of their locations and each one has the same problem.  ZERO seasoning.  The food just isn't that great.

But, why is this place so popular?  Well I'm not too sure really, but I can venture a guess. They are very family friendly while still maintaining a decent atmosphere.  For example, if your kid flips out for a minute or so you won't get a gristly glare from some guy hunched over smoking a cigarette like you might at Waffle House.  You will however get an "it's OK" look from another soccer Mom sitting in the next booth, though.

If that's the kind of place you're looking for and food quality is number 3 or 4 on the list below, SUV parking spaces, and high chair availability, then by all means stop here.

this is a great breakfast spot. the hours are the only thing i can gripe about - wish they were open all day long! but then, i'm a breakfast fanatic - i want to eat it all day long. i love the waffles with fresh fruit. the hashbrown potatoes are great. the blueberry crunchcakes are good. i don't think i've had a bad meal here. my husband likes the unique choices on the menu and the english muffins (might be the special toaster they use). they are also running specials now on select dishes & had an egg spotlight with benedict and other versions of egg dishes. can't go wrong at this place or the historic roswell location (which has some history surrounding it - just ask the wait staff! scary stories! Roswell Ghost Tours also mentions them on a stop)
