Yes, I went back (and more than once!) even after my last review. I still find the service a bit lacking...I know it's early in the morning, but is it too much to ask that your barista not glare at you for walking up to the counter? However, after going back a few more times, I have found the baked goods to be fairly decent, and the coffee is strong enough to get me through the crazy days at work, so I felt that a one-star review was too harsh.
Plus, walking half a mile and back in 3-inch heels for coffee to another coffee place just didn't seem worth it anymore. Location is still the best thing about this coffeehouse.

Surely you must be kidding...$1.75 for a small cup of black coffee? If it weren't for the fact that… Read more »
Free wifi...open til 12 am, decent drinks (I'm not a coffee drinker so I really can't tell you what "great" coffee is)...
and did I mention free wifi? HOORAY!! Any place that allows me to yelp in the interim of studying without cost (ok..maybe the cost of a drink) is all good in my books.
Lattes are good and frothy
The seats are so comfy! I LOVE the vibe in there. Very soothing and welcoming
Ghetto service. I have gone a few times in the AM before work. People sweeping floors then wanna make my coffee. The rest of the workers were hanging out at a corner table and just watched as I waited for help
They don't know how to make standard expresso drinks.
Complained my drink tasted like coffee water and they did nothing.
Prices higher than Starbucks and CB.
Tried a few times ( I know I should have learned the first time) and hoped it would be better but they disappoint everytime.
Won't go again.
Awwwwwwwww HALE NO!
Seriously. this is all we need another dessert drink house that tries to pretend it cares about coffee.
Let's see how many ways can we destroy a cup of coffee with too much sweet flavored powder and whipped cream???
As is increasingly the case these days, the virtue and integrity of a simple cup of cup of coffee is comprimised for concoctions which should only be seen at a carnival.
blech.

I welcome "It's a Grind" to the crowded chain-coffeehouse landscape of SoCal with open arms. Their specialty seems to be coffee drinks that register at 1,000 calories each and I certainly see a place for that. Atkins friendly? Perhaps not but when the good Doctor passed it seems as though his fad followed him into the Earth. Drink up. Crack never tasted so good.

It's A Grind is a Long Beach institution that has made its way up the river. And it opened about 175 locations before this one at the crossroads of Hollywood, Los Feliz and Silver Lake. Bonus points for being right next to the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station.
You have your standard coffee fare selections, but Grind also has unique ice blended combinations like a Triple Chocolate Mocha and the Road Warrior. The store also has a tempting cereal bar. Rather than individual-sized boxes, the cereals (Kellogg's and an organic brand) are in plastic containers where the barista pours the grains into a bowl. It's a very nice presentation.
This coffeehouse feels roomy, especially compared to its other locations, and many computer users are busy a-browsing on the store's WiFi. The staff doesn't seem to mind people bringing in outside food. It's A Grind's neighbors include a Robek's Juice and a Quizno's. The strip mall across the street has other food options, including a Fatburger. Good food is not far away in the many restaurants of Los Feliz or Zankou about a half mile away at Normandie Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.
Good coffee, great location.
Transit access: Metro Red Line; Metro Rapid Lines 754 and 780; Metro Local lines 2/302, 26, 175, 180/181, 204, 206 and 217; and LADOT DASH Hollywood and Los Feliz.

Any coffee shop that plays Billie Holiday & other blues and jazz instead of pop music gets my vote.
Try their caramel apple cider (on a cold day) and the hot coffee drinks with real ghirardelli chocolate is worth the drop by. It's also really smartly located next to the subway stop -- for those of us that go metro on occasion.
What other coffee shop offers hot apple oatmeal in a convenient to-go container? Not Starsucks, that's for sure!
The tiramisu taste like it's been sauteed in "wrong sauce," so skip that little not-so-good-treat.
The chairs are comfy, and no matter what time you go it seems like the same customers are there -- very Cheers, very mellow. Very nice coffee spot.

Another in the list of coffee house franchises. Can be good, but isn't always consistent. They talk up their iced coffee (some fancy process) but stay away - I always feel like they just pour the hot stuff over a cup of ice and don't really have a clue.
Their friendly greetings by EVERY employee when you walk in can be a little odd - like they announce you walking in, but it's hard to complain about people being friendly.
The free wireless internet is the places biggest draw - especially on a nice day when you can sit under the umbrellas outside. Inside though the seating is comfortable in great arm charms when you can get them. Another plus? If your laptop battery is dying on you there are plenty of plugs to keep you going, just like the caffeine.
On an interesting note, there's a good selection of granola and cereal that they mix up in crazy combos that I've often been tempted to try, but never have.
Overall, the place is okay. Not the best but enough to redeem it to make it worth it.

i have NEVER had a caramel macchiato that amazing... aaah! so tasty. staff is nice, brings your drinks to you... clearly not as hip as coffee bean (why is the coffee bean in los feliz hip??) but pricing+drinks are way better. buy your drink and then take it uptown...
