Located almost at our back door, so we consider ourselves regulars. Wait staff appears to have a high turnover because we rarely see a familiar face. Regardless, wait service is generally solid.
Food is decent and consistent, not fancy, and is the Americanized version of Italian food. (We've spent a month in Italy. The food in northern and southern Italy does not include overcooked pasta buried in sauces and cheese.) We tend to skip the complimentary bread baked in the stone oven. It's a huge round of bread with not much taste. Order the cheese bread instead. Gooey deliciousness.
Unlimited salad is a nice gesture and staff does not scrimp when replenishing the bowl.
This evening I had the trio pasta combination: lasagna, manicotti, ravioli smothered in Parmesan cheese and baked. What's not to love (putting aside that it's not authentic Italian)? Some say their tomato sauce is too sweet. It is sweeter than any other we've tasted and takes a little while to get accustomed to, but it can make for a nice change. Portions are incredibly large and more than half of this entree was placed in a to-go box.
Husband has fettuccine with tomato sauce. He said it was excellent.
Just wish this Italia Gardens served spittini. -

Nothing really special about Italia Gardens. The food is OK -- I say OK because I've had really great experiences coupled with pretty terrible ones, so I guess on average it's a good spot to get some standard Italian fare.
A favorite that has yet to disappoint: the baked mostaccoli. I order it on every visit -- definitely a safe bet. -

Our family has been eating at Italia Gardens for 10 years now. We love it! The kids love the wood fire pizza, hubby and I love Mostaccoli with blush sauce. The salad is always good quality and fresh. Their ranch dressing is the best in town! Their service is always friendly and efficient!

I have used several http://restaurant.com coupons at this establishment with little to no hassle. Every time we have visited Italia Gardens it has been a pleasant experience. Good food, decent prices, friendly atmosphere. Overall, 4 stars.

History
Established in 1931
Italia Gardens, the first Italian restaurant in the city of Flint Michigan, was established during the depression in 1931 by Albert and Josephine Barone. The restaurant slowly built up trade as familes and nearby Buick workers came to dine on heaps of spaghetti and meatballs. Barone retired in 1964. The business has remained owned and operated by the same family since then. In 1994 to keep up with our growing customer base, a second location on M-15 in Davison joined the original Italia Gardens. In 2008 we opened our newest location in Oxford, Michigan.
