I always order from this place & goddammit it is so good. Although for personal reputation reasons I can't be seen in this hole in the wall dump. HAH i'm olny kidding. But this place is bomb to order from. The women who takes my order basically knows my life story lol.

I always get:
miso soup
hot night roll
shrimp tempura roll
salmon sushi-olny $2.95(BARGAIN)
:]

I wouldn't call myself a sushi connoisseur, but I've eaten at at least a dozen different sushi places in the last year, and this one always wins - hands-down. Their cut rolls are simply the neatest, most tightly packed rolls you'll find anywhere. I don't know what their sushi artist does, but he's the best at it. The food always comes out very well presented, and the timing is good.

Downsides: the place is small, and with so many staff, it sometimes feels like you're eating on stage. Not open on Sundays. Getting substitutions (i.e.- two salmon instead of a whitefish or something) can require some finagling, so it's best to just take what's on the menu or order something else.

On the upside, it's right next to a great, friendly, clean laundromat, so it's a nice distraction while your junk is in the dryer.

The little woman who does most of the serving/cashing is named Sue.

I love love love Ismi Sushi! In fact the only thing I miss since moving to Westwood is this place. Their rolls and sushi are fresh and yummy. They also have great miso. They are decently priced and their delivery is super quick! The lady who takes the orders is sooo sweet - and the delivery guy is awesome too. Everytime I'm driving through the area now I always place a to-go order. I have to dock a star cause its really a little hole in the wall and only has 2 tables so its not the nicest dining environment... much better suited for takeout/delivery. Mmmmm.

Pretty good! I tried Ismi for the first time today, and the general consensus was pretty positive all around from everyone else who ordered. Their delivery was pretty quick (within 30 minutes or so right in the lunch rush), and their baked lobster roll definitely recieved my vote- a little tangy with generous helpings of lobster and shrimp topping it off  and served with  sweet-ish honey type sauce that I found went with it really well, and the best part--- only set me back about 10 bones. The miso soup was pretty good to for a dollar, although I would have liked a little more in the tofu department, but I'll definitely be back to try more.

On occasion, I have my lunch delivered from this hole-in-the-wall because 1) I'm lazy, and 2) sometimes mediocre sushi will curb my cravings for something raw and slimy.

Oh yeah, if you mention the 15% discount from their website, they'll tell you that it's a mistake and the webmaster was supposed to take it off a long time ago. Yet, it's still there and bitch still won't give me my discount. Ehhh...

I got a bunch of co-workers together and decided to check this place out since we had a $75 gift certificate (why we got it I will never know).  The place seats approximately 15 people max (approx 150 sq ft).  It started with some Miso soup which wasn't good, wasn't bad, just all right, warm but not hot.  The waitress said that the water was not working and they had to bring the water from home (whatever that meant).  Sushi came out and was not very good.  The fish was a little warm and not very tasty.  You may get sushi at a cheaper price but you really get what you pay for, and maybe less.  I won't go back.

Love this place because they deliver!  Whenever I'm craving sushi and  don't feel like getting out of my pjs, I call this place.  I love that the woman who takes delivery orders knows me, even though I've never actually visited this restaurant.  I need to try the monkey balls next time...the only downside to this place is that they don't take AMEX...

I guess I'm feeling sentimental now that I'm moving out of the neighborhood that I love so much that I simply can't help but review this hole-in-the-wall sushi/teriyaki place that will always hold a special place in my heart. Ismi Sushi is a family owned and operated restaurant that serves sushi, bento boxes and a wide array of Japanese style food. They have a House Special for $5.95 that includes 4 pieces of tempura, 2 pieces of sushi, a small house salad and teryaki chicken and rice. The sushi is good, the people are nice and they even allow you to BYOB if you are nice. I will miss this place but if I'm ever in the area I would definitely stop by for a quiet meal. If you are lucky you might have a Ian Ziering sighting here like I did. 90210 forever!!

My company ordered from here one night.  I had the salmon salad, monkey balls, and a combination of sushi.  I thought the monkey balls were really good!  You know, considering I hadn't ever had any.  And the sushi was really good considering the price.  The salad, however, was DRENCHED in their sauce and it basically cooked the salmon on its way to us =(  Even at that, it's one of my favorite sushi places to order at when I'm at work =)

we love ordering from here since their food is pretty good.  most of the times, it's for delivery.  they serve all type of japanese food here and prices aren't that expensive.  like a previous reviewer, i took off 1 star since their website says there is a discount if you mention the website but the person who took our order says they don't do that anymore and that they're suppose to remove it but it's still there.

well, i moved to la about a week ago, and this was one of the first places i ate.  now i'm no sushi aficionado, but i enjoy good sushi as much as the next guy.  but what i appreciate even more is good sushi at a reasonable price.  and that's exactly what this joint has.  for under 15 bucks you can get a full plate of sushi, and believe it or not it's pretty darn good.  and i love the fact that it's just a little hole in the wall.  if you live nearby (like i do) you just can't beat having a little place like this.

well i was in the mood for sushi delivery, but wanted to avoid the place up the street with the B rating from the health board
ended up getting delivery from the restaurant up the street with the B rating.

here it goes
spicy tuna: fantastic
magoro sashimi: see above
yellowtail sashimi: ...
hot girl roll: ok i should have known better this one was not as great as i imagined
lobster roll: ok this dish is fucking fantastic, shrimp and lobster in spicy sauce laying above 6 or was it 8 california rolls. i should have just ordered this because it would have been sufficient
very happy with the service and especially the price.
the location inside might be drabby, but the food is A+ in my mind

simple, casual, and small restaurant specializing in sushi. seats fewer than 10 people as most of their business is carry out/delivery. maybe a step above sushi mac in quality/price. owned/operated by koreans.
