4 reviews for Island Waterpark the
This place kicks ass.
I had an extra day in Fresno with the kids and decided I would take them to this waterpark. The one in Clovis was another 30 minutes away and this one is right off the 99 so we could head home right after.
We went on labor day weekend and paid 39 bucks for 3 passes and parking. 39 bucks. Yes 39 bucks. 39 bucks over in the bay area usually will cover parking and 20 bucks towards a 40-60 dollar pass at an amusement park.
Parking at this joint is a dollar.
We got there right when it opened at 11am and got to hit almost every ride in the 1st hour with hardly any lines at all.
We spent the rest of the time in the wave pool (awesome) the floating river and the kids water center in the middle.
My kids had fun, I had fun, and this waterpark really gives you your moneys worth.
Summer is always ridiculously hot in the valley so you don't have to worry about it being to cold around here.
As for some folks saying there is no shade?
There is TONS of shade, TONS of seating, and a bunch of places (including lockers) to keep you stuff without anybody messing with it.
I recommend this as a stop to anybody who happens to be traveling down the 99 in the summertime, it won't cost much and everybody will have a good time cooling off.
Definitely good for kids of all ages

Since Fresno can be hot as hell in the summertime we usually get the season pass.....and FYI if you buy one now it's good for next summer too.
My kids love it there, and I love to see them smiling all day. There's plenty of lifeguards everywhere watching out for them and they are helpful and somewhat informative too.
I've been to the Wild Water Adventure Park many times too and it's sentimental a bit for me since I remember going as a kid. I honestly like them both about the same. But the Island is like 10 minutes away vs about 30 min. to the other, so it's more economical for us. The Island does have something Wild Water doesn't; the lazy river. It's a shallow river that continuosly flows in a circle and it's nice to float around while gettin tan, or walk it for exercise. All the stairs up to the slides are a killer workout. Wild water has the sloped hill you walk up instead which may be easier, but I think it's a little more dangerous. They both have a wave pool and many slides to ride, including ones for toddlers. If you have small youngsters I think the Island is definitely your best bet.
People always complain about the lack of shade but they have added a lot more since last year. I never have trouble finding a shady table.
We always bring our own food and drinks....so sorry I can't tell you much about the food. They used to sell these very delicious jalapeno pretzels that I would crave all winter long, but they didn't have them last year and I haven't even checked this year. I wish they sold them at pretzeltime. but anyways. They do offer burger's and that sort of stuff and I think they have a Mexican place too, which also sells beer and margarita's. They have Dippin Dots too. They have an outdoor sports bar too but I think it's only open weekends when I'm not there.
It really is the best way to beat the heat, tire your kids out so they'll crash out early and have some good family funtime. It's what all the cool parents are doin ;)

"Lets go to the Island the Island Waterpark!!" (very cheesy reggae music plays in the commercials background)
I like the Island. It's a ja'billlllllion degrees in Fresno, and I need a place to cool off! Yeah there isn't much shade here, but I'm not there to sit under some shade, I go there to go on the water slides, in my bikini that didn't fit me 3 years ago when I bought it, and *certainly* doesn't fit me now. But I don't stick out because you aren't exactly walking around with girls from South Beach there. That's all I'm saying...

The place was alright. Had several different things to do, arcade,go-karts, and the waterslides of course. Everything was fun, but the place needs more places with shade to sit down.
