I spent a couple of hours here tonight for an author reading. I enjoyed this place - it made me want to tell people to support their local bookstores! This is one of those great rare small bookstores tucked away in an unassuming location but is well worth a look. It's not very big, but they do a lot with the space they have. It has that authentic "real bookstore" feeling, features local authors, has an excellent selection and has a helpful and accommodating staff.
They managed tonight's reading very well and had wine and cheese beforehand for all guests.
If you're out that way and like bookstores by all means, stop by and check it out!
This is by far my favorite bookstore, and the favorite bookstore of my kids. Sadly it's located on Mercer Island so I get there more infrequently than I'd like.
Friendly, most knowledgeable staff.
Great events. The best children's department around.
AND then ship your books for free!
i have only been there once and i am already in love this place! i am a judge a book by its cover kinda girl i find 1 that looks interesting and read the back and i found like 10 books the staff there were very helpful and help me find all great books but of corse i've been a little short on cash these days but who isn't? well any way it is one of those rare book stores that is tiny but has ALOT of really great books so give it a try it is a ways a way but it is well worth it!
I live on Mercer Island, so this is a nice and convenient location, and I like to support independent bookstores. The selection is great, especially considering the available space. It has an old, musty atmosphere like a bookstore SHOULD have, despite selling mostly new books. The children's section is one of the largest around and they get all the newest titles in for all genres. The staff is nice, even though I do have a bit of a bias because they don't hire high schoolers... probably a good thing considering their staff is very knowledgeable.
