This place is open late- love it!!!

Order any special combo pizza slice you like ( I always get pepperoni and pineapple) and they throw it in the oven n top it off with more mozzarella. Can you say yum-o!! More melted cheesy goodness please!!

The guys that work there are all chill and some even kinda cute too.. (ahhh hope my BF doesn't see this :D)they have this New York bad ass appeal to them.

Eat in, sit back on their comfy chairs, watch TV and eat some deeelish pizza.

They serve other items than just pizza too if your in the mood. Beer selections limited but if they don't have what you like there is a liqz two doors down. So go and grab your 40's lol! Cheers!

So this is what the pizza tastes like when sober?  I hate pizzas that look like they might be NY-style, but end up as a horrible imitation.  Best to come when your only other alternative is passing out somewhere.

Cheese Slice: The bottom had no crispness at all.  The darn thing flopped over limp when held by the crust like a bad Cialis ad.  The sauce to cheese ratio was good, but the cheese seemed overly greasy.  I did appreciate that they at least have the sacred four: pepper flakes, garlic powder, oregano and parmesan cheese.

You know how sometimes you're watching TV - just some random show. In this instance, it was 30 Rock.

So I was watching 30 Rock, and they were eating pizza. A huge slice of good-old-plain NY-style cheese pizza.

And I went... MMMMM... CHEESE PIZZA. The craving hit me.

The problem is that I am lazy. Obviously, if I am home on the couch watching old episodes of 30 Rock craving pizza, I'm not what you call, 'upwardly mobile' (..in the literal sense). And the other problem is that I live in the richmond. Not a lot of pizza options. So it had to be delivery. So onto yelp, I found Irving Pizza.

MAN! I spent my weekly bad-food allowance on this? Man! I wasted it.

Crust was too thick. Not enough sauce. Cheese tasted like nothing. And that's not good, especially when it's a CHEESE pizza. I had to load it up with pepper flakes and parmesan for it to even taste like anything.

Oh well... I'd like to say lesson learned. I'd like to say, next time I will get my ass up and go somewhere, where I am sure their pizza is good even if they don't have delivery like giorgio's or something. But probably, I will just stay on the couch.

I come here for lunch occasionally. Pizzas are pre-made and they're set behind viewing-windows. Once you enter, you'll see what's available right away. They heat it in their oven before giving it to you, it's just as good.

There's a lunch combo where it includes a slice of pizza and a fountain drink for less than $4. :)

I usually get pepperoni and you can see the oil being cupped onto each pepperoni. Yea, their pizzas are more greasy than most places, but.. just pat the grease down with napkins!!! Oil's what makes pizza THAT good!

Simple name, simple pizza.  Irving Pizza knows how to hit the spot when all you're craving is a basic, consistent pizza.  The pizza here isn't out of this world, but it's still pretty freaking good.  And for the price, you get a good New York size slice.

I got the Combo Pizza and the Sausage Pizza.  Like I said, Irving pizza is pretty predictable in its taste, so you know what you're going to get.  Both pizzas tasted like what you would get at a standard pizza joint in NYC: delicious reheated cheese, solid toppings, and filling bread.  And just like in NYC, all their pizzas are on display and are served quickly by simply putting it in the oven again.  I like to see the grumpy service as an ode to NYC.

Some people will say that this place isn't good quality pizza, but for the price, quick service, and late-night hours, it's definitely a winner.

So...I don't really get the deal with me and pizza joints lately.

Tonight, boyfriend & I ordered a 3 topping large pizza & 12 buffalo wings - coupon for $23.99 for the entire meal.  After ordering we asked what the total was so we'd be prepared for it when they deliver.  The total came to bee $27.04.  Sounds kind of high, right?  I assumed there was a delivery fee included, but the flier stated "FREE DELIVERY" with a $10 or $12 minimum purchase.  We call back and say we're going to pick up the pizza instead.

The pizza was made quick and our order was waiting for us when we got there.  However when we asked about the bill and how they were taxing us, they started getting angry with us! We asked nicely how they were taxing bc 9.5% tax on $23.99 is $2.28,  Our total should have been $26.26, but the total was $27.04!  They were taxing us  12.75%!!!!  We weren't trying to be penny pinchers, we were just trying to understand why we were being taxed MORE.  They were being real ass holes about it...we weren't even being rude.  The guy opened the register and tossed a dollar at us.  We didn't even pay yet, but we should have taken the dollar and said we paid.  Ugh.

We didn't mean to make a big deal about less than a dollar, but its the principle, right?  If they're taxing all their customers 12.75% and they're getting tips upon delivery..they're profiting quite a bit, correct?

No more ordering pizza from here...they might sneeze on it.

*boyfriend requested a 1 star review bc he has been a customer for 5yrs...so who knows how much money he's been screwed out of.

The beauty of this place is their closing time.  It's truly inspiring to be able to score late night delivery and a thick doughy slice of greasy pizza till 3pm .

Yeah, get this: Irving Pizza delivers till 2am Sunday through Thursday and they deliver till 3am on Friday and Saturday.

That is a glorious statement. Especially when you haven't eaten anything all day and know that you have an empty refrigerator to look forward to.

And the pizza... The pizza is solid. As well as their hot toasted sandwiches. In fact I am sitting in my Scion zipcar right now typing this, while the Eagles' Hotel California croons from the radio,  as the   overwhelming smell of hot marinara sauce still lingers. A reminder of the veggie laden, marinara covered, toasted sandwich I just inhaled.

Bringing me to a solid conclusion: that life is good.  Life is very good.

Trust.

Oh and PS -  for some truly wowing late night scarf sessions - go to 24/7 Donut World and order a microwaved apple fritter -  and then get your Irving Pizza pie delivered there. Mind boggling. Mind boggling.

I don't know why rude/mean people take jobs in the service industry....their job relies on tips, and tips rely on being nice to the customer....so what the hell Irving Pizza???

Service with a frown, grumpy dudes working there, fuck them!!!

I tried ordering wine once and had to wait 20 minutes and eventually got a refund....because the wine never came....

The pizza? gross....overcooked....nasssty.

no thanks!!!

I'm not a picky pizza eater.  So don't take the two-star as a, "I didn't like this place" type of two-star.  It's just that I've eaten so much pizza, and like it so much, that I can't give it any more than two stars.

Don't get me wrong, the pizza was pretty good.  It had a really good garlic flavor and creative topping combinations.  I ate quite a bit.  However, it didn't wow me any more than ordering from a typical pizza place would.  Which is to say that, it's not terrible pizza.

I would like to go back and try their New York style by-the-slice pizzas but as far as their standard pizza goes, it's not going to be the best you've ever had but it's definitely not bad.  Maybe a tad overpriced.  Still, if you're craving pizza and don't want your typical delivery pizza, this is a viable option for you.

Cheers!

Ehhhh. I tried to come here this weekend to indulge in some veggie pesto slices. They only had 2 pizzas made and they looked like they had been sitting for a while. I asked if they were going to make a cheese or veggie and got a blatant "no". Why must they do this to me?! Make fresh pizzas damn it! Do you want to make money?

We ended up leaving empty handed and ordered from Escape From New York instead.

I work a swing shift over in Haight. I ordered from Irving because i have a terminal case of Middle America palate, and the  spicy Thai or Indian does me no good.. I'm not in the mood for pizza so i call in a sandwich on a french roll, fries, and i get the cheescake cuz there's a minimum order..

it takes an hour to reach me, the guy takes my food OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS PICKUP TRUCK, so the food is totally cold, and they got my order wrong. By the time the food gets to me i've only got 15 min left at work anyway... just enough time to give Irving Sunset one star. If i could give less, i would.

Why can't you guys be as good as Irving Geary???

PIZZA TEXTURE -  8.7 .. great size, bite, and if you like a crunch its A+

PRICE -                    10 .... for sf its a killer lunch time deal
HOURS-                   11 .... OPEN TILL 3!!!!!!! with beers on tap!!!!!!
SERVICE-                10 .... he cleared the tap line for like 10 seconds
before he topped my beer off 3 times.

i had a slice a combo and a fat tire on tap.
the pizza was nice a hot and tasty nearly filled me to the brim.

and being my first beer on tap it was DELISH!!! i swear i could feel the hops dancing on my tung. i was stunned that they had 6 types of beer on tap considering ive had the hardest time sitting to eat and having a icy cold one brought to me.   SHOOT they even have blue ribbon on tap for those pre pay check meals.

THIS PLACE IS GOOD.

i was impressed and my shitty day was turned upside down.

ANOTHER SF late night GEM  to add to the list

The BEST pizza in San Francisco!

Big greasy delicious New York style pizzas by the slice with cheese so thick you choke on it when you bite into it. There are 5+ different pizzas there for your choosing: Cheese, Cheese and Pesto, Combination, (and other pizzas with meat that I don't pay attention to). You may want to blot your pizza before eating it unless you don't mind grease dripping down your hands.

A must try: They have a sandwich on the menu called the 'No Hangover Philly' which is a Philly stuffed with peppers and spices that. I'm not a drinker, but felt that it deserved mention for those heavy drinkers looking for a cure. Definitely a sandwich that one must put to the test!

They're also open late on the weekends to satisfy that late night craving.

If there is a better pizza joint lurking at any longitude further west in the San Francisco Outlands then I say bring it on.  Irving Street makes me think of the old collegetown pizza joint;  nothing memorable (per se) but a pleasant safety option when you want a basic (but mildly spicy) slice ... with a beer to satisfy the immediate cravings close, fast & at a good price.

I honestly do not remember what my first visit here was like. I was drunk to death and my friends were trying quite valiantly to retroactively coat my stomach with something other than booze. They all failed miserably.

Came here again! And again. And.. again. Always drunk, but not so drunk that I don't remember the occasions. The pizza is always tasty to me! I've had pesto, mushroom, pepperoni and something else that looked pretty special coming back up. It's thin crust--my fave!--and greasy like it should be. Pizza in my face. Nom nom nom.

I am disgusted. Talk about unsanitary. I might not ever come back.

I went in on Friday thinking a nice slice of combination pizza would be nice for a warm day. As I was walking in, one of the workers was smoking right outside of the store. He wasn't exactly outside. He was sitting on a stool, between the sliding doors with his lighter on the counter next to him with a lit cigarette in his hand.

Can I say what is wrong with you? The pizzas are not covered. (refer to the pictures if you never been here before)

I am going giving one star because I like the taste of the pizza and because it is not possible to give zero stars. I don't want to be mean, but c'mon!

So, I went there the other day for lunch. They do slices, and they are pretty large. And then a pepperoni slice is only 3.25. The pizza isn't super thin, and the dough is very doughy tasting.

The real only downside to this place was that the pizza was served out lukewarm to customers.

The pizza is also pretty greasy. While I was eating the slice all of a sudden I had a lot of grease running down my hand. That isn't necessarily a bad thing though, great post hangovwr and sometimes you just want a greasy slice of pizza.

Great late-nite NY-style pizza.

This was one of my favorite places to grab a slice.  I used to live a block away from the place.  They got some great, large, thin-crust pizzas here.  The pizza has this great indescribable spice.  It has hints of flavors of those slices that I miss from the East Coast.   They are also open late, and they serve pitchers of beer.

The staff is very friendly, and laid back.  There have been more than a few times that they kept the place open a little longer to let us finish our beer.

Stand-up pizza place: great for a late-nite venture.

I dont really ever eat pizza. After eating Pizza in Italy I realized pizza here is just eh...sloppy, greasy, cheap tasting.
BUT
I was totally suprised and delighted with a slice of mushroom and sasage pizza I had here.
I was sickly hungover still at like 10:30 pm on a Tuesday night. I was driving home and felt like yacking from my stoli induced naseua. I remembered the need for grease from highschool and ate a slic on the way home. The slice was my savior. This place is cool with me.

Open-late.

Ate here after leaving my first UYE which I have aptly renamed, "Organized Chaos." Walked into the joint and thought that I entered the confines of my own kitchen -- bare white walls are wrapped around a rectangular room with tables running along one side and pizza oven's and glass displays running the length of the other.

Ordered 3 slices of pizza: 2 sausage & mushroom and 1 combo. Crust was delicious -- thick and crunchy -- perfect for satisfying an extreme case of shameful drunchies. Cheese pulled nicely away from its origin..[which is a firm-tell that said cheese is of high quality]. The toppings integrated well with the other characteristics which made for a pleasant late-night meal.

Very convenient and accommodating. Would consider this place a routine eatery if I lived in the neighborhood.

There aren't a lot of good pizza options in San Francisco, at least not for someone like myself who's originally from the North East and takes her pizza very seriously.  But Irving Pizza really is delicious and a slice above many others in this area!

My favorite pizza here is the Ground Beef and Ricotta....ooooooh, it's soooo good!!!!  Gooey and beefy and delicious!!!  My partner really digs the sausage pizza, and my mother always gets chicken and vegetables, because she's more adventurous than I am with her pies.

We happily use their coupons for take-out and delivery (we often pick up because we live nearby), and also have a slice card for when we're walking by and are driven in by the intoxicating aroma of pizza....mmmm...just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

Basically, I'm a fan.  It's no New-York-style slice, but it does the trick when I'm looking for a solid pizza experience!

Oh, did I mention they're open late?  Smart, especially since they're right across the street from a bar...

After when, I had left King Won Ton & Noodle I was still very hungry... I guess that the Won Ton & Dumpling Soup from King Won Ton & Noodle did not fill me up... So then, I had a craving for a pizza slice and so I was looking around the Irving street area for a pizza place that sells a pizza by a slice... As I looked around then I stumbled into Irving Pizza so then when I walked inside and saw a big pepperoni pizza slice so I had asked for that pepperoni pizza slice to eat inside...

After reading alot of yelp reviews there were alot yelpers who had said that this pizza place sucks... But not me Irving Pizza, this pizza place wasnt that bad at all after when, I ate up the pepperoni pizza slice... I did not find anything wrong with this pepperoni pizza slice from Irving Pizza if you are hungry and if want to eat a pizza slice dont listen to any yelpers out there who said alot of dumb and ridiculous remarks about the Irving Pizza... Just go out there and have fun with a pizza slice that you really like to eat!!!

The major selling point here is that they are open late night, which is great for all the drunk college kids in the area (me a year ago).

Granted, I didn't order pizza. I ordered their mozzarella sticks (I was having a craving) and buffalo wings.

The wings were not traditional buffalo wings, but fried/lightly spicy-battered with dipping sauce. The wings appeared to be that of a chicken so tiny it could barely support its own weight.

The mozzarella sticks were the kind you get from Sam's Club, but deep fried.

And the price was laughable.

I sure hope the pizza is good, but if these are appetizers then I'm for sure I would've walked out immediately had I been sitting down.

I mainly question the cleanliness of this place. I've been here four times and each time, without fail, their pizza has given me a tummy ache. :(

I know, I know...you're probably thinking, "why the hell did you eat their four frickin' times???" Well, I dunno....call me an optimist...I like to give chances.... I'm not quick to judge...or maybe I'm just stupid. This place is located a block away from my ex-boyfriend's place, and he and his friends loved the place, and they didn't get tummy aches. But then again, they are bachelors who regularly eat unsanitary foods....

Anyway, there are other flaws with this place.
1. I have observed them handle money and serve pizza, switching back-and-forth, without washing their hands.
2. Once I ordered a salad with my pizza and they completely forgot. Another time, they forgot our drinks.
3. This place often operates with their double doors wide open, so the place is infested with buzzing flies.
4. Once they delivered 2 hours after we ordered!
5. There is absolutely no parking available.

Unless you're starving and your only option is Irving pizza, I would stay far away. If you do eat here, make sure a toilet is nearby....

This place has a special spot in my heart.

I have been going here since I was a little kid. Seriously, like 1990.

Let me take you on a trip down memory lane....

This was a hot spot for middle school kids and they would come and play Street Fighter, Indiana Jones Pin Ball, and my personal fave, Bust-A-Move.

The slices were a $1-$2 and you could get a soda for .50 cents. Then you could watch MTV's The Grind before you had to go to Karate lessons down the street.

I thought it was the coolest place in town.

Now, as I have gotten older, so has Irving Pizza.

No longer a safe haven for kids to hang out, it's sort of become this late night hang out. Maybe it was back in the day, but it definitely has a different feel to it.

Beers on tap served in pint glasses, less tables to invite guests to stay, waaaaay more food on the menu, and the menu itself is that snazzy chalk art you see at crepe places.

But that's not to say that this place has declined in any way.

The pizza is still pretty tasty, not the best, but good. They have an awesome variety of food like sandwiches (which are basically pizza sandwiches), salads, samplers, and I think even pastas!

The service/delivery is prompt and accurate. And even if I'm ordering just a small meal, they'll still make the drive up to my spot even though I can just pick it up myself.

I will always love this place. Not for the ambiance, the service, or even the food.

I love this place because of all the memories I had and will have here.

Thank you Irving Pizza!

I have been ordering from Irving Pizza since I have moved to the city over 2 years ago and their pizza has been consistently delicious. The pizzas are great, the crust has a slight, crispy outer layer with soft inner, just as crust should be and I have never had any issues with the intensity of their spices or flavors. They are always right on. I also really love their sandwiches. The chicken pesto is by far my favorite, along with the chicken parmigiana. Jalepeno poppers??? Yum! Cheese sticks?? Super yum! I mean it's fried cheese! Kind of hard to mess that up! They also deliver late every night of the week - till 2am M-F and till 3am Sat and Sun. Great when you're having the late night munchies, and I mean that in a completely drug-free way.

My only complaint is that they skimp on their toppings. I ordered the Irish special that, strangely, comes with corn. Sounds weird, I know, but it was really good. Corn goes well with ham! Any who,  they literally just sprinkled it on. The corn was unevenly scattered, which left a piece that had maybe about 4 small kernels. They also hold back on the pizzas that come with feta cheese. Again, just a sprinkle of it and nothing more.

Other than that, they continue to be my favorite place to get pizza in the city. Sure there are places that have crazy, gourmet style pizza's with toppings and ingredients I can't quite pronounce, but Irving keeps it simple and tasty and I love them!

I've been eating at Irving Pizza for years and you should be also

1. they dont charge for ranch

2. they give soda refills

3. always have hot and fresh pies/slices ready for you

the only problem is that parking in the area kinda sucks ...

some of the best consistent pizza in the san francisco

its the only pizza I eat ... Hawaiian is my thang ... and its cheap .. the lunch special is everyday from noon to 4pm...

check it out ... its worth it

Why do I go out and booze like a champ on an empty stomach?  Becasue the bar tab is less, DUH!

Well, due to me being a cheap drunk, I had to get something in my belly so I wouldn't puke up all my whiskey.  I saw Irving Pizza after exiting Whiskey Thieves and decided with my intoxicated brain that this place couldn't be too bad.

I was WRONG!  Thick cardboard crust covered in greasy cheese and rubbery pepperoni.  And boy oh boy, did I wake up with the stomach cramps only the devil himself could inflict upon a pizza sinner.  Yes, I sinned for purchasing and consuming cheap nasty pizza on a Friday night.  I vow to never again make this mistake!  Please forgive me tummy......

Irving Pizza, you've been there for me from the very beginning and through two address changes, through the good and the bad (we're sorry we gave you the old address three years ago, forgive me?), and you guys never let me down.

I've tried the other pizza delivery places in the area, and I won't name names, and I must say I can't find a better place. Your crust is better, and so is the sauce. Sometimes you're a little heavy on the cheese, but we live with it. Your coupon deals are the best in town--don't ever change them!--and even though your buffalo wings have no buffalo hot sauce on them, they're still awesome. When I drop in to grab a slice, I see familiar faces and I know I'm gonna get some good pizza.

Never eaten here, but love the young Brazilian man named Fernando who takes 'casual workplace' to a whole new level. Love his kick-back attitude... see the photos I added for insight. :0)

This place is cool. I mean its alright.. the pizza is decent.. pretty good when your'e hella hungry or just drunk.. Haha. The guys that work there remember what I want (and no, I am not there all of the time). They just are good at what they do.
Its fast, reliable and open late.

Everytime I come here I'm either buzzed or tipsy. It's only a block away from chug pug so me and my friends always end up eating here right after. It's almost a ritual that we have to stop by here if we go drinking in this area. They've updated this place quite a bit. There's a nice mural on the wall now and there's actually a sign. I remember going here when there was no sign, there was cracked paint and you can see the drywall. The placed look sketch but now its lost its original experience. I still come here cause the pizza is off the heezy. OMG! The pizza is to die for here...I never have only one. Everytime I say I'm going to have only one I end up getting two possibly three slices. The pizza is different from all the pizza joints I've been to. THe crust is slightly thin but not really. The toppings are good but what always gets me is the crispiness. Everytime you take a bite its soooo good and there's a nice crunch. It's a perfect crisp I've never experienced anywhere else. I can't believe this place has under four stars...maybe its because it doesn't look as nice as other places. The pizza here is hands down the best in the area. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

NOTE!  Don't park on the other side of the street. YOU MAY END UP WITH A RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE TICKET @ 2:00AM! I made the mistake and now I'm kicking myself cause I could've purchased over 12 slices of pizza with that $$.

Pizza 5 stars - tasty with a perfect crispy
Service 4 stars - they just take your order and hand you the pizza not much else
Ambiance 3 stars - its lost its old look so i'm a little dissapointed

When first walking in, I was unsure of the place because it looked somewhat sketchy, but we were starving. We got some pizza by the slice and we were AMAZED. It was so good. I'll definitely go back here if I'm ever over there again.
