Totally helpful. They have a roommate finder if you're a student low on funds. That's a lot safer than Craigslist for sure. They work out deals with the individual apartment communities for rent discounts, lower security deposits, and more.
We got $1000 off move in for the first month. Seriously.
Just go in with a specific list of what you want (for example -- a large master bedroom with a walk in closet, private patio, indoor washer and dryer, and actual garage that allows pets for under $2400) and they won't let you down.

The IAC sucks. They are horrible to university students, price gouge, are not friendly or helpful.
Oh, by the way, back in the day when I moved into my apartment near UCI my parents had the be guarantors. (Meaning that they told the apartment complex that the rent would be guaranteed to them; someone would definitely pay). One year later they were victims of identity theft. We couldn't prove it was the people at the Cornell Court office that was selling off their information, but IAC was extremely unhelpful. Screw them!
