901 W Morgan StI have this thing with sweet/salty. Like I love salted black licorice that you can only get in Australia and the Netherlands. I love those granola bars with salty nuts in them, I love kettle corn, you get the picture. Irregardless has this omelet called the Apple Cheddar which consists of your average omelet configuration, with cheddar cheese, apples and a little (just a little) cinnamon and sugar. I think it is heaven. It gives J the willies to watch me eat it, it grinds against his culinary sensibilities, but I insist that it is an ingenious creation and should be tried by anyone who feels the way I do about sweet/salty. The rest of the menu offers even more delights, including the spectacular "bean" burger which is simultaneously vegan AND delicious, something you don't encounter all that often in the south.

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I could eat the hummus by the 5 gallon bucket fulls ... and the menu changes based on what's in season at the Farmer's market.
This is where my husband and I have celebrated every anniversary since we started dating. Not because it's super fancy or expensive, but because the wine selection is great, the food is out of this world (we split a salad, a small plate, and a dinner and always leave full) and the staff and atmosphere are second to none.
They always have an awesome jazz duo playing in the evening that might just convince you to push back from the table and take a spin on the dance floor.
The crowd is a bit older, but with everyone enjoying the great wine, food, and music... I've never felt out of place.
I'll miss this restaurant most when we leave the Raleigh next month.

Irregardless Cafe presents a modest exterior. Its location next to the train tracks brings to mind a small greasy diner-type place; this is about as far from the truth as can be. It is much bigger and nicer than my imagination led me to believe. The interior is spacious and whimsically decorated and their kitchen is huge. The menu selection is a nice diversion from typical 'American' (read: deep fried or char-grilled chunks of animal) items with hummus and tabbouleh and vegetarian dishes and so on, though they do feature some meat (largely the tragically delicious chicken) on their menu for the die-hards. It's ever so slightly on the pricey side but the quality of the food I think justifies it. For the health conscious or just for a taste of something different, I recommend it.

I have been here twice within a span of 12 months, and this place seems to be fairly consistent when it comes to quality and service. Both the times, I was there to celebrate a special occasion with friends.
This place is somewhat of an enigma considering its location. You really don't expect a good, expensive, classy restaurant right near a college and basically in a small downtown area. In fact, the first time I went there, the matre d' had a hard time dealing with the bums right at the door demanding to use the restroom facilities.
Nevertheless, the food is exceptional in quality. I have had some of the fanciest vegetarian food at this place. The service is pretty fast and friendly. You actually enjoy dining here.
There is live Jazz music, as others have pointed out. Last time I went, they had cleared up the area in front of the stage as couples danced to slow music.
Definitely, one of the best surprises that Raleigh has to offer.

I'm going to keep this short, because I think you'll get the point about this place from all the other positive reviews. I went here with a group on New Year's Eve, and we had an excellent time. The food was good, and Ed Moon's jazz band put on a great show while we ate. They serve a variety of dishes, from vegan options to seafood to pork loin, and all looked tremendous. My only minor complaint is that the waitress talked us into ordering too many appetizers (the Mediterranean appetizer platter is a particularly generous portion), but overall it was a great meal. I'll be back here soon.

Definitely an awesome restaurant! The warm goat cheese salad makes a wonderful meal. another one of my favorites is the paella. there aren't too many places to get that in Raleigh. The live jazz really adds to the atmosphere. The brunches are really good, too. I love coming here!

My husband and I stopped by this cute cafe for Sunday brunch on a weekend visit to Raleigh. It was recommended on here and by some chowhounds on the message boards. I have to say it was a great choice. I had the filet mignon eggs benedict. While adding filet to a benedict may not be the best idea, just because it gets lost in the sauce, the meal was scrumptious. Filet was a thin slice, very tender, and more importantly the hollandaise was perfect, one of the best I've had. Roasted herbed home fries were delicious and not greasy, and needed no ketchup to flavor them. Included in your brunch price are a small glass of fresh squeezed OJ, and water, as well as a basket of a variety of sweet breads (carrot cakey loaf, a blueberry muffin and a chive biscuit, in our case).
The cafe also had a guitar player strumming for the crowd some gentle music which was very relaxing. We liked the vibe of the place, with cozy wood tables (we scored a small booth) and comfortable seating. Service was attentive and friendly.
The vegetarian entrees are excellent in a part of the country where it truly is frowned upon not to eat meet. The small space accommodates live music, which is a site to behold.
This is a great spot for an upscale, casual meal. It definitely reminds me of places that I have eaten at on the West Coast.
Who doesn't love this place?
While they cater to a lot of vegetarian granola-types, Arthur provides his guests with some of the best steaks available in Raleigh.
Go on a weekend night when they have the live music, and try a wine that you've never heard of. Whoever it is here that's responsible for stocking the bar has great taste.

This restaurant has reduced the number of vegetarian entrees down quite a bit from the past actually.
However, it's still a great restaurant to dine in. A little bit pricey but the great food and atmosphere definitely make up for it.
Great spot for a casual date!
