A great place for a solid afternoon of fun! My friend and I went to kill some time outside and practice hitting for our respective afterwork softball leagues. They have a cage just for slow pitch softball that no one else was using, it was perfect! They have a deal where you can buy twenty tokens for twenty dollars, with each token equalling fifteen balls. With two people, that's 150 balls for ten dollars!
Located in the back of the Cummings commercial park off of 128, so you do need a car to get here. And check the forecast before you go as they will not be open during inclement weather. They did have a sign at the entrance to the commercial park saying the batting cages were open, so if you don't call ahead of time, I guess you would be able to find out before driving around to the back of the buildings!
Other than needing a car to get there, Ironwoods is a perfect afternoon escape from the city. I have to agree that outside batting cages are tops and for a beautiful Saturday this place was not that crowded and very reasonably priced.

Whenever I went there, I never had to wait too long to use the cage. Although the website says that they have 9 cages, but it seems more for some reason. Maybe because I remember the place being fairly empty.
They have pretty wide variety on speeds. They even have super slow. So if you aren't confident on hitting the ball. Fear not. Use the super slow.
If you go to a batting cage, try to go to outdoor one like this one. Indoor one does still serve your needs(to hit the balls) but nothing feels far greater than watching the ball you hit going deep like Manny or Papi. And imagine that Don Orsilo's exciting shouts resonating in your head "'The Oriental Bob Ross' does it again!! Red Sox wins by Jimmy's Walk off home run!!!"
Since this place is outdoor, make sure to check the forecast first if you are to plan ahead.
Oh! It could be only me but wear a glove(if you hit righty, wear it on left. If you lefty wear it on right)! I always get carried away and make nasty blisters on my right hand(I hit lefty) and it's painful....

Got to love practicing for Softball at the batting cages, this place is never too crowded and they have a good coupon deal on their website.
