Review from Joe C.
Phoenixville, PA
Consistently great service, especially the bartenders (shout out to Nicole and Monica). While I'm disappointed that the food has gotten pricier ($12 for the Brewski Burger, AUFKM?), the beer is more affordable, always superb, ridiculously fresh and very innovative.
However, from a marketing standpoint, these guys are in dire need of an overhaul of both menu and decor. Nothing's really changed since day one. -

Not being a fan of beer so I can only review the food which is solid. We had fish and chips which were a fail and 3 very good burgers. Skimpy with the fries and the wait service really doesn't know the menu when asked questions.
A bit pricey for what you get. -

The food is fair at best, they give you small portions. I cant believe this. Everywhere you go now you get tiny portions for high prices. The beer selection is good. The food always repeats on you and you will leave hungry. Ive eaten here about 5 times and the beer was good. We had a portion of fries, the large portion. They were like the size of mcdonalds fries for 7.95. All of their apps were nothing of substance. The only good item that ive had that is decent is one of the burgers. Youll feel screwed if you get anything else. BS. I dont see any other thing about this place that attracts you here except the name, Iron Hill brewery, hence the only really good item here is the beer. The chefs here are or were probably once worked at fridays or bennigans and have really no talent. If its busy, the help will leave you there waiting for your check and or another drink. They're not in center city. Youll be better off going to the pickering creek inn.

Great calamari, pork chops, beer flights, burgers with random toppings, nachos come on a huge plate too. Not much stood out besides this except good service and a really cute town.

Food is great, I'm a big fan of their Light Lager... Service is iffy when sitting in the bar area so hope you're not in a hurry. Service has been great when sitting in the dining area.

I've been here several times, and I've yet to have a meal I've been impressed with.
The first time was with the family, and the food took over an hour and a half and came out cold. It was an unacceptable dining experience.
I came on other occasions to have beer and appetizers with friends. The beer is always good, but the appetizers are subpar. The nachos were soggy and weren't really worth the price.
I can recommend the place if you want to have a good beer, but the food is bad. -

Great service, different foods that always taste good. Love the raspberry wheat beer. Never had a bad meal or bad service here. Used to go often for lunch or dinner when lived in PA. When I come back to visit, I always make a stop!

I'm not sure why I keep coming back, but a brew pub is a beautiful thing. I can't help myself. Their food varies depending on what you get, the beers are interesting in the sense that they have so many different kinds, but they are not the best.
Today I had the cheesesteak pizza. Yeah, I asked for it, one of the most unhealthy menu items. It was fair, good enough to finish but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly and efficient, but there were only 3 of us at the bar. -

I cannot say enough nice things about this place. The food is fantastic (although a bit expensive), I have yet to have a bad meal and I try something different every time. The beer is the real reason to go. I always try the seasonal beers and make the difficult choice of picking one to go with my meal. I would recommend that if you go in May, try the Mai Bock, you will not be disappointed.

Review from Elise T.
Iron Hill is one of the better bar/restaurant combos in Phoenixville, but still not fantastic. I wouldn't go in expecting a great meal, but it's clean, the menu is huge, and the beer is always good.
Other notes:
-Always a long wait so plan ahead
-The tables in the bar are seat yourself, so always keep an eye out
-In addition to the micro brews, they have a full bar
-The pizzas are great, try the Barley crust... really nice
-Pass on the burger, it's a patty and is always overcooked
-Good option for brunch
-Huge parking lot across the street, but on a Friday and Saturday night it still might be rough
-Not a bad place to watch a game -

Chocolate nitro stout is very popoular somehow, but not the best to me-- lots of chocolate beer in Philly !
Raspberry wheat beer was awesome
The food is just ok--- could be fresher.. i had the meatloaf-- average -

Eh. Is it amazing? No. Is it passable to good enough? Sure.
The service was okay: appetizers showed up quickly, the main dishes took forever. The waitress was nice enough, but a bit snippy with the indecisive older folks at the table.
The food was fine: salmon and burgers tasted like they would in any restaurant of this type. And the disappointment of the shamefully rosemary-less "rosemary fries" was balanced out by the very good seafood bisque.
The tipping point between two and three stars? The beer. Nothing life-changing, but enough to make a difference in your attitude about dinner. -

I've been here several times, and mostly it's because the Tuna Tataki appetizer is amazing.
The atmosphere is very nice, with the option of outdoor seating when the weather permits. Another nice feature is how they seat: seat yourself in an open bar area with lots of tables for two or four, or be seated at a somewhat more formal dinner area.
The staff is friendly (one bartender took the time to explain the ins and outs of fantasy baseball to me) and quick to attend when needed. The beers are great with an interior to match. -

Great food, love the mussels with bacon & blue cheese. All my meals there have been pretty good. The one thing that stands out to me is while their beers taste pretty good, it seems like they are all virtually flat, with little head in the glass and not a lot of carbonation. Has anyone else noticed this?

I go here like every GD week. I've never had a bad beer here (except maybe the one they brew for Blobfest).
The food is elevated bar food. The basic stuff you'd expect only much nicer, tastier and prettier. It gets PACKED on friday and saturday nights with huge waits. Make a reservation or do what I do and just go to the seat yourself bar area. The dining room depresses me in comparison. Also, if you keep your eagle eyes on diners you can swoop in a get a table after like 5 min. Just grab a brewdog and perch. Its almost like a pre-dinner game.
You cant go wrong with their burgers. Also the soups and stews are great and often overlooked. Their salads kick ass too. OH and so do their pizzas. I think I've just covered the whole menu. Go here. -

Good service, ask for Kevin. The beer is delish. We had the Scallops and a Pizza, bread served and was a cool atmosphere (beat the heat). What else is to say, nice decor, not too shabby.

The food at this place is a bit hit and miss.
If you stick to the beers (I like the pig iron porter) and bar food like nachos and burgers. I heard the pizzas are good, but have not tried them yet. -

I am not a big beer drinker.
But that didn't stop me from going to Iron Hill for lunch with some co-workers.
Everything I've ever ordered at this place has been amazing: sweet potato fries, cheesesteak egg rolls, pulled pork sandwiches; and my favorite-bread pudding.
The place is very friendly and the customer service is great. I am still in a good mood even if I have to wait because overall the experience is great. I would recommend going during the week since weekends are pretty packed.
The parking is across the street and a little shifty...but it doesn't keep me away. Phoenixville is so charming so sometimes it is great to go out instead of in the city. -

This is a decent Brew Pub, the food is okay, good burgers. Nice seafood specials. Pasta is so-so. It can get VERY VERY noisy. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. It is very professionally run. Weekends tthere is a long wait for a table.

One of many, many reasons to check out Phoenixville, PA. Iron Hill's arrival in Pville was a great omen for the town. The restuarant itself is almost identical to other Iron Hills. Food is well above average and the beer is excellent. My favorite is the Scotch Ale, though they hardly ever make it ;(.

I think Iron Hill is great, its a very interesting menu for a brewery. I love their chicken sandwich and fries. They make great drinks as well. I've never had a problem getting a seat in this place, even with 6 people on a Saturday evening.
One drawback is that the music is pretty loud in this place, it makes it hard to have a conversation with the people around you. If you like "yell-talking" then you'll feel right at home.
Location is really nice, though parking can be a bit of a chore. It's in a good enough area of Phoenixville that you can easily park in one of the local public parking lots and walk the revitalized streets. -
Review from Geoff G.
I am a big fan of Iron Hill. In recent years they've expanded to multiple locations but are still able to keep a consistent level of quality. This was my first visit to the Phoenixville branch, where the local area has cleaned up pretty nicely in the past few years...lots of dining options around.
As the beer goes, first up was the Oktoberfest...very smooth and drinkable. Next came the Belgian tripel, awesome.
For appetizers the Calamari was out of sight! It was lightly breaded, soft not chewy and seasoned just right. Tex Mex eggrolls were decent, close to 'meh'. French onion soup was dark and rich, with a healthy amount of cheese (gotta have it).
I chose the Rainbow trout from their Oktoberfest seasonal menu. It arrived on top of a bed of mashed potatoes, topped with a bruschetta type mixture almost...strange, but good. Sauce was out of sight. -

I've missed me some Iron Hill while I was living in California. I've been to I think, now, almost all of the Iron Hill's in the area. I frequented the ones in West Chester and Media prior to moving out to the west coast. I went to the one in Phoenixville recently. They still have great beer.
Food is pretty good. It's pub fare, with a twist. I always seem to find something creative and good on the menu. This is a great spot to meet up with friends or go with your family. -

We went to Iron Hill for a light dinner. I made a reservation on my Open Table app on my phone an hour prior to the reservation time which was great.
There were three of us. I had the seafood bisque which is always great and a small salad. My husband had pick and peel shrimp which were hot instead of cold which was strange and my friend ordered a mesculen salad with grilled shrimp which was pretty pricey and they put it under the heat lamps and wilted the mesculen. For the price, it wasn't worth it.
Other than that and the atmosphere noise, it's a good place to go. -

Had Brunch two weeks ago, the chocolate muffin has to go. The fruit sweet and fresh, The crab omelette was cold inside and topped with avacado, average at best. Irish Stout was o.k. Server was the best part of the meal...attentive and friendly....To many better places for brunch...maybe stick to beer and munchies.

Over the last half dozen times we've been to Iron Hill I've gone back and forth between my favorite app. For awhile I loved the Tex Mex spring rolls and even ordered them and another app as my dinner. Last night though the deal was sealed with the Salmon Spring Rolls. Done deal. They are the best.
Also, service here was top notch again.Listed in: Favorite Brew Pubs and Beer…

It was ok. Not great, not awful, just ok. I will probably come here again again but I wouldn't drive to Phoenixville just to eat here. I'm not a beer drinker, maybe beer drinkers would have a greater appreciation for this micro-brewery.

Good restaurant, good beer, reasonable prices. I'd recommend going on Sundays, since they have a really good dinner deal.

All you can say about Iron Hill is 'Awesome!'. The beer is great, the food is really good, the service is good and friendly, and the atmosphere is top notch. Consistently good food with an awesome micro-brew selection. Just make sure you explore the town and all it has to offer.

Great food and iffy beer. I can't knock the location, as it's right near my home but the beer always makes me look west towards The Sly Fox (spectacular beer but bad food). I just heard the menu was expanded, which will be exciting. I'm still pissed about them discontinuing the Sunday Brunch, although it's still on the damn website!!!

Tasty, tasty. Iron Hill's micro-brew beers are so refreshing after wandering the streets of Phoenixville, trying not to get eaten by The Blob. Each of the few times I've gone, I've gotten one of the specials and been impressed. Lobster bake, yes please! The items on the regular menu are a little more hit or miss, and serving size varies quite a bit from dish to dish. One item I've spied at other tables (and drooled over a little) is the cheesiest, gooiest, most heaping plate of nachos I've ever laid eyes on. I'll be back to try them, for sure. Oh yeah, and creme brulee = heaven. The service isn't bad, but also nothing to rave over. I came in starving and waited too long for my beer and some rolls.

First time I went to Iron Hill, I would have given it three stars. While I loved their beer--especially their belgium ales, I wasn't too thrilled with the food I ordered. But my past few visits made up for that. I still love the belgium ales and the light lager. The servers are really nice and friendly and know a lot about the beer. They'll even give you free samples if you ask. They have some odd appetizers like cheesesteak egg rolls and tex-mex spring rolls. The cheesesteak egg rolls were a bit heavy for me, but I sure liked the spring rolls. My favorite thing on the menu is the grilled kielbasa with sauerkraut and potatoes. Just as good as I make it at home. The outdoor seating is also a plus. Lots of people walking around Phoenixville usually, so it's fun for people-watching. I think the longest I've wait for a table on the weekends was 20-30 minutes. Not bad at all.

i've been to the one in west chester before and i only drank the beer. this time i'm in phoenixville and i only got the food. why oh why can't i put the two together?
iron hill is a chain of five or six restaurants/pubs/breweries (?i think they brew the beer on location, but who knows if those things are just for show?) the two i've been to both have lovely dark wood and iron creating a mellow, comfortable atmosphere.
like i said, this particular trip i wasn't able to hit up the beer. but if memory serves me right, these people know how to brew.
typically i don't hear good things about their food. and for me they were about 50/50 (the 4th star is going on my memory of the beer). i had the ahi tuna dish, which tasted great. but the tuna itself was either not that fresh or was cooked just a little too much. definitely not the best i've ever had. on the other hand, i got a fried oyster sandwich that was ungodly it was so good. fried oysters with roasted peppers, tomatoes, mystery sauce on ciabatta-ish bread... mmm... sooo good.
so here's my final word: go for the beer, get lucky with the food, and have a chill, relaxing experience. oh and the service was great. -

Good enough. Friendly nosy place, crowded and fun. We got a seat at the tables near the bar as they weren't continuing to take reservations.
I had the seafood pot pie which was very good. Little soupier than I would have expected but a great crust, and the homemade root beer, as I was designated for DH. He had the grilled tuna which had a great flavor and two of their special beers (one seasonal for Octoberfest) which were flavorful and great. Wait staff VERY knowledgeable - not just ours but we heard them talking to other patrons - lots of advice if you need it. -

The cheesesteak eggrolls are f'n scrumptious. Sorry, no other way to describe those little pieces of fried goodness packed with steak, cheese, and onions. Pair that with a few Raspberry Wheat beers (ya, I like the fruity stuff, you gotta problem with that?) and I'm set for the everning. Great atmosphere though I agree, as a previous yelper stated, that they tone down the tunes just a tick. Service is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating since it's hit or miss. Sometimes you get an awesome server who can direct you through what beers they have or tell you about a specific brew you'd like to try. Other times you get the can't-be-bothered-to-take-your-order-college-kid who's only there because mommy and daddy decided to not pay their credit card anymore. I would try to check it out during the week since on the weekends parking and the crowds become an issue.

Food is always good. Would recommend getting the cheesesteak eggrolls as an appetizer. Also look at their seasonal special meals, they typically will give you menu options and beer choices to accompany your order. Am a fan of the fall options and their shepards pie was really good too. If you are not a big beer drinker the food still makes the place worth checking out. They do not serve regular beer since they are a microbrew obviously, but always ask which beers are comparable to their domestic and imported bottled friends.
