Best place in the neighborhood for manicure, shoulder/neck massage, and I'm assuming everything else. The staff are nice and actually look at your nails while they file them. They even smile.
The famed hand massage and neck massage I have come to rely on when getting a manicure is top notch here. You may pay a little bit extra for their services, but they deliver a little bit extra in return.
I was on vacation in NY and needed a good place to get my nails done. It's a pretty large, accomodating place. Great pedicure and manicure. I enjoyed eavesdropping on the nyu girls' conversations. "You'll really like him. He's preppy, from Connecticut"
They do try to upsell you on a chair massage. It's worth it though....especially after walking around all day!

I has the location all to myself on Tuesday (granted it was a mostly dismal day weather-wise) I was psyched when I found that they had the new OPI "Russian" collection of polishes with names like Boris and Natasha and Midnight in Moscow. I was going to go for a dark blue but ended choosing a shade that is sort of brown and reminded me fondly of Vamp-by Chanel-ahh 1995 those were the days...
$52 for regular mani/pedi- a tad steep but then again I feel like they are clean and do a good job. I have been tapping away at my samsung qwerty keyboard for almost three days with no chips!
They take credit cards but like most places these days would love it if you left the tip in cash.

Oh, you lucky Americans. Not only do you have superior cell phone service, fabulous shopping, a competitive airline industry AND this Yelp network thing, but you also have chic and affordable nail bars. If I were living amongst you, I'd be so damn stylish and connected... Instead, along with my country folk, I walk around in Canada with ragged fingernails, dressed in caribou skins, communicating via smoke signals or birch bark postcards. Life's tough up here.
Life, however, is sweet at Iris Nail, 71 University Place. The spa itself is gorgeous: sunny and spotless with chill modern Asian decor. The cheerful staff do a great job of even the basic $15 manicure.
Key point: the friendly, chatty woman who strolls around Iris Nails massaging customers at random has MAGIC ENERGY HANDS. It's miraculous. Her hands are so naturally hot that she can dissolve the tension right out of your weary body in a moment. I've never experienced anything like it: she has been blessed by the goddess of masseuses. You should get yourself here just for the chance to be touched by her.

Mani... this place is good. Conveniently located (just a few blocks from Union Square) but never seems too busy. They project funny Japanimation on one of the walls --- way more interesting than reading the latest gossip on Brangelina in US Weekly (but they have that & more mags available if that's what your into!).
I opted for a "Spa Pedicure" and got a surprisingly loooooong massage that made my toes & feet super-happy.
The only thing I didn't like is they didn't have a menu of the costs of services printed --- only on the wall at the entrance. Once I was in the chair, I verbally agreed to the more expensive services (ala Spa Pedicure rather than the regular one), but wasn't completely sure how much it was going to add up to until I got the bill.
Oh well... I'm worth it!

Nicer than your typical mani/pedi place in the city. A step above Bloomie Nails...Iris offers a wide array of services. From Spa pedicures to Brazilian Bikini waxes...Iris has got it. They offer no pressure staff and current magazines. The pedi chairs have massage options and the waxing rooms are private. They carry a full line of Essie and OPI polishes.
