Our Kickball league comes here after our games on Sunday for flip cup. The bartenders are nice and they put up with our shenanigans.
I have not yet tried the food here, but their Irish nachos look delicious... -

It's all a blur, the many MANY Irish bars/pubs on Geary Street that we visited on St Patrick's Day.
But this one was memorable. We spent the most time here because the crowd was amazing! Lots of festive people full of merriment and drunk "love".
I still laugh when I see people professing their love for another person. It goes like this: "I fucking love you man. I love you". Bromances were on full tilt. There were also older Irish men there - showing up their younger counterparts enjoying their drinks like gentlemen. It was great people watching as I sank into a buzz of my own.
The whiskey pours will mess you up fast, so be careful. I piggybacked all of my Guinness with a whiskey and I was crazed after my second round! Too many people buying me drinks!
Thank goodness we had a party bus. No drinking and driving. We didn't have to worry about finding parking either. The bus just let us out at each bar to drink and be merry.
You'd be surprised how many drunk white boys were happy to be spanked instead of kissed because I wasn't about to kiss all those guys who wanted it - heck no! They were ALL Irish and they ALL wanted to be kissed! It's was crazy!
Good times. Good times indeed! I left the bar red faced with my stomach and cheeks hurting from laughing so much. Life should always be like this. . . fun when you seek it.
Thank you for the great time Ireland's 32! I will be back on a non-crazy day for karaoke or live music, food, more Guinness and more Whiskey!
PS: What I drank was Whiskey not Whisky - there is a difference that matters to some, not all. Get in the know, yo: http://en.wikipedia.or...Listed in: Indulge Your Inner Lush

Ireland's 32 makes me dizzy, well the Guinness and whiskey helped but something about the upstairs hallway to the bathroom made me stumble and feel more drunk than I really was. Maybe, I don't know man, those car bombs were crazy.
Yeah, Ireland's 32 is a Irish pub with lots going on the walls. it all seemed political. There's live music here sometimes
There's drinking here always
They got billiards upstairs in a room that made me wonder where I was.

Good service, good prices. Beer selection is a little boring, but they have Guinness and Magners on tap, and that's enough to keep me happy. Most nights, it's not exceptionally crowded, and there is plenty of space in the downstairs bar. I'm not a fan of the entertainment (open mic, karaoke, live bands) -- it's usually pretty bad and so loud that it becomes tough to carry on conversations. This can be avoided by going for happy hour or going late (entertainment is usually around 8 or 9PM)

I grew up a few blocks away...and would go to Ireland 32 once in a while...but have not been back for many years. Last Sunday, we wanted to go to a fun place to watch the 49er NFC Championship game. We went downtown to the bars around ATT...all were full by 12:30 ..we decided to head back to the avenues..so glad we did. We had 8 people in our group, and we were able to get the last booth upstairs by the fireplace. We had pitchers of beer, a fun crowd and the best part..most of the people there were natives...or at least have adopted SF as their town. FUN, FUN,FUN day!! and we were able to bring in Pizza and burgers from other places..made the day perfect..except for the score of the game.
Go Niners..and thanks for a fun day Irelands 32! -

Irish pub-ish
The sign in front of it used to say "Happy Hour ALL DAY" sometimes. I dunno if they still do that but its hilarious.
Karoke on Wed Nights with DJ .. shoot i forgot his name but it's slightly offensive but funny lol along the lines of DJ Hard On or DJ Jack Off or something. Anyways, check it out if you wanna karoke in a low key place that isnt suuuper crowded. Haven't been in a while--i should check it out soon.
They have a surprisingly cool selection of whiskeys per my friends so if you like that sorta stuff check it out!
Nice bartenders and low key. Weekends have DJs and some fun music to dance to. -

The music is great! The DJ is great with requests, and there is a good amount of space to dance around. The crowd is alright, but this place is pretty crackin' on a Saturday night. Drinks are decent priced. :)

I liked this place more a few years ago when they had the upstairs pool room open. Lately its been a spot for beer pong and not-so-great live music.
On the plus side they have a nice projection screen that they lower for sports games. The bartenders are great too.
I'll keep coming back.Listed in: STRONG DRINK

This very well may be the best Fish n' Chips in town-- at least that I've had so far. It just melts in your mouth. A pub may not seem like your idea of a lunch outing with a friend, but I really recommend it. My father and I sometimes get together for a late brunch here, and it's great because we can actually agree on this place despite our different tastes. He likes his greasy diner food, and I like my oh so green overly healthy food.
Their other food selections are great too, and they do have a veggie burger for your veggie friends. I've met the cook a couple times, a very nice guy. They also play pretty good music, even during the quiet hours during the day.
The place itself is defiantly a dive bar, but the walls are neatly covered in pictures and things of Irish pride (including a picture of Kennedy). I've only been here a few times at night, but boy I've seen it get packed. Their beer selection is ok, they do have your Harp lager of coarse. Don't expect to get too fancy as far as mixed drinks. They have your Bailey's and your standard drinks (rum and coke, vodka, whiskey, whiskey, and more whiskey), but how very irish of them. -

Is this an Irish Pub? I thought so.
I went here for the first time last night for my friend's birthday. I was not happy to leave my half full beer at the bar we had just left, but was happy to be going to a bar which was closer to my house!
I assumed by the name that it was an Irish pub...maybe on a week night when there are less people there, it is. Saturday night though, it was more like a dance club with a relaxed feel to it!
They played great music (mix of early 90's, classic hip hop, and hits from today), had lots of REALLY cute guys (some of whom I think got in with a fake ID because there were a few guys showing each other their ID and comparing them...I don't think they were trying to decide if they took a good photo), and magners for 4 bucks.
I wish it weren't so hot (but I always get hot when I am shakin' what my mama gave me) and I wish the bartender would be more observant. She would start from the end of the bar, take their order, come back, and move on...only new people kept popping in there so the people in the middle of the bar never really got her attention!
They have karaoke on Wednesday that supposedly everybody loves! I am not a singer (except for in my car...alone), but I will come watch my friends or maybe even go up with them and lip sync in the back.
I love this bar and will definitely be back! -

They sponsor my Irish football team the Celts and it's a great spot for live music, sporting events, and for a quick drink.
It seems like it's either dead or really cracking. The booths are nice. Restroom is upstairs and it does kind of suck. The decorations are engaging and you'll always find something new to look at.
The ratio can suck sometimes just depends on the night. We went here one night and it was open mic and we heard the worst comedian. Like crickets cytology and bull shit spewing. Nizario's is close by and burger king has an ATM to use. -

I recently hosted my husband's surprise birthday party in Ireland's 32's VIP room. From my initial inquiry about room availability to the event itself, the staff at Ireland's made the process so easy! The space was quaint and perfect for an intimate gathering with close friends. I love that the bar provided us with our own bartender, who went out of her way to be accommodating and friendly.
My only complaint would be that they did not have any beer taps in the VIP room. If we wanted a draft beer, we had to go downstairs to the main bar. But it was a minor inconvenience.
Great event space and it was FREE! -

oh my, those Irishmen really know how to roll their tongues... mmmm..
Maybe its their celtic background or something, so brute, rugby type, and could just "break your tempurpedic bed in half" and give you the excuse to buy a new one..
Ladies..... its time to catch us the lucky four leaf clover and trust me, every time you come here, you'll find a new one!

Of the many stops on the Geary pub crawl, Ireland's has some great karaoke selections. However, the buck stops there if you wanted to have an actual conversation with anyone about anything. This is a bar only regulars could love.

Ridiculously nice staff. I ordered red headed slut shots to celebrate my friend's graduation and the bartender doubled the liquor, which was fantastic, except my friend didn't drink hers, and I drank both and then I died. But of course that didn't stop me from drinking a Magners after.
Went on a Thursday and my friends and i were the only ones in the bar, hope it was just an off Thursday. Came back on a Friday and there was a 90s/er early 2000s cover band and my life was complete. Especially once they played Blink 182.
The crowd seemed a little older than I expected, but whatever. -

Love this place. Definite Irish vibe and you can really feel the passion and love of country in here. Lots of IRA pictures, newspaper articles, etc all over so not sure I would go in here and order with a British accent or ask if UK soccer is on the big screen. Have been here a few times when a few people were "getting their Irish on" outside, but other than that a very low-key hangout. You need to come here at least once in your life.

7:30 on a Wednesday night, the girlfriend & I were in the neighborhood for Salsa lessons. We were hungry & had a little time, so we ducked in for a quick bite. Ireland's 32 is a cozy & dark bar with decor that reminded me of Belfast. Just like in Belfast, the folks here were friendly.
We only had 30 minutes, but fortunately the place was mostly empty. We sat at the bar & the bartender took our orders promptly. We each got a Guinness, the girlfriend ordered the Cottage Pie & I ordered the Exemplary Fish & Chips. Things were off to a good start when the bartender poured our Guinness the right way.
Our food took a while, but not too long considering they were baking a pie. My Exemplary Fish & Chips were, indeed, exemplary. The fish was tender, moist & steaming hot. The chips were quite nice too. I had some of the girlfriend's Cottage Pie & liked its beefy heartiness.
The place really began filling up while we were eating. In only 30 minutes, we had a round of Guinness, some yummy pub grub & were on our way. In that same time, a lively crowd in Ireland's 32 was having a good craic.
Ireland's 32 is a nice pub with decent pub grub. You don't necessarily have to be a Nationalist to like this place, but Unionists probably won't have much appreciation for the decor. -

I don't know why an Irish bar would hire a Beatles cover band for St. Patrick's Day, but Irelands 32 did. Strange. Add to that an odd, yet stuck up crowd it was a strange experience at what is usually a decent bar. The bartenders here are very friendly and make a good drink, unfortunately that doesn't make up for rude patrons and bad music.
BONUS TIP: Go to the Plough & Stars two blocks away for a better drinking experience. -

I remember our first show at Ireland's 32. It was almost a year ago on the eve of Halloween. Only a few friends attended, and we all dressed up in ridiculous costumes. I remember the graciousness of the staff, Brendan and Francis, and how readily they invited us back. We performed there three other times, each time better than the last, and Ireland's 32 found its place with our affection.
On October 11, 2007, after our last Rockit Room show, one of our band mates ran into Francis and learned that Brendan had just passed. He described the look on his face as one of pure shock: confusion so deep it prohibited tears. It certainly shocked us, as we all knew and loved Brendan, as if he somehow fathered our band. He was only 55 years old.
Brendan Daly co-founded Ireland's 32, in 1982, with Francis Kelly and Jack Webb. Unlike other Irish pubs, Ireland's serves the community as a gathering place for all people. One afternoon, I walked inside and saw a gathering of children playing in a musical ensemble. It was endearing. With a spacious and accommodating bar area, Ireland's also features an additional pool room upstairs. Good pours of Guinness, and a selection of ciders and Irish food. Best of all, the service is quick and friendly, even on the busiest of nights.
Brendan once led us back into the kitchen for a chat. I considered it a quiet privilege. We were talking business of some sort, but all I wished for was a glimpse of how they made their delicious Shepherd's Pie...Listed in: Festizio saved my life!

RYAN SEACREST: That was some performance Keane!! So let's hear what the judges have to say! . . . .
RANDY JACKSON: Yo yo yo. Dawg! Dawg, you surprised me! A little pitchy in spots and your bass player could use a little love in his life . . . but overall that was HAWT, dawg! 4 Stars from the dawg pound!
PAULA ABDUL: *with flushed cheeks* Keane that was just incredible! It reminded me of the last time I was taking a hot bubble bath with my pool boy Eduardo. Your tone is so sexy and when your bottom lip quivers on the mic . . . ahem (clears throat). 10 Stars to my Chinese American Idol!!
SIMON COWELL: Keane. Somewhat reminiscent of a teenage rock band on Robitussin. But having said that. And I'm not trying to be rude. You seemed to be getting lots of panties from the men in the audience. Do you like cock, Keane? But having said that. We'll see you in the next round. Negative 9 Stars.
RYAN SEACREST: A total of 5 Stars for the night. If you want to vote for Keane. Vote U-F-C with your index fingers. Standard voting fees apply. -

I stepped in to Ireland's 32 yesterday, early evening after a foot massage a few doors down. I had a perfectly poured Guinness an enjoyed chatting with the friendly bartendress recently relocated to SF from Ireland via Canada who was open to discuss her journey which was interesting and fun to imagine. My service dog was with me and not questioned as per usual why he was with me. There are multiple TVs including soccer and the rugby championship in New Zealand where my friend and Kiwi trainer was a spectator. Exciting. There were 3 regulars there and the bar was ours. I ordered the fish and chips and the chef came to check on me to make sure it was delicious. I will go back for the Wednesday Karaoke, sprts, and of course the delicious food!

Review from Ravena F.
I do like a good bar with live music. They have a great sound system here, which I appreciate - s'nice to actually hear all the elements, and not just a booming bass or raging guitar riffs.
The Rockit Room open mic moved here, still on Thursdays, and appears to have made itself a happy home. They've recently rearranged the furniture allowing for a more open feel, which the open mic crowd has certainly taken advantage of, in terms of fraternizing with, *gasp* strangers. (Is this a dying art in the bar scene?) Plenty of friendly people around, even within the clearly dedicated IRA walls.
Love Kanoa, who makes some mean mixed drinks on Thursdays. There's a hot new girl with a sexy accent tending bar too, who will probably become a crowd favorite once she learns how to make drinks. For some reason, the Guinness doesn't taste as good here. They should really fix that, as I suspect IRA members don't need another reason to be bitter. -

"Who the hell brings Arby's into Ireland's 32!", exclaimed the lead singer of Festizio.
"ED M!!!!" shouted AJ. Yes, Ed stayed true to his desire and brought in a bag of Arby's sandwiches (roast beef n cheddah).
Only dumbass Yelpers would coopt this nice little Irish pub in the Richmond District and turn it into their own private haven of craziness. Damn... and I only saw you bastards yesterday... so don't be surprised if I don't act too excited.
No one was actually carding people tonight, even though I actually remembered my ID. They double booked the spot, so Festizio (Keane's band) was not able to start their set until 8ish.
Cozy downstairs area, with lots of brown/black stools, tables, stage area, and a big screen tv. If only I brought my Magic Mic kit, the night would've been ON!
The bar serves a great selection of beers on tap and bottled beers, a lot of other likka, and some pub grub (chicken pot pie, beef stew, etc.. served with salad). I abstained as much as I could from the alky since I went to church today, but succumbed to the environment and just had a glass of the blood of Christ, sans the tannins... chardonnay, from Lodi... yes, I was feeling like reppin' the 209, since Rob H. kept introducing himself to me as someone from "the valley". (FYI: Madera is no longer in the 209. 559s don't count).
The upstairs has pool/billiard tables and the restrooms (for customers only, mmmkay). Yes, and what is up with the condom dispenser--$1 for ONE condom? Why is it getting pricier to stay safe? *message*
It was great seeing all the Yelper support for Festizio tonight. I felt bad for the band who played after them due to the Yelper exodus.

No stars for drinks, seating, or restrooms. One star for Irish Bar. One star for DYL. One for being a venue for Keane. Would not go again.
As the launchpad for my first DYL (and my first jawsome Keane experience) it was perfectly serviceable. The bar is spacious, the lighting is good, and the bartenders were attentive and quick.
Why only three stars then?
I have a standard test for any bar. It's pretty easy. I order a gin and tonic - just like that - "I'll have a gin and tonic please," and base my judgement of the bar's drinks on what I'm given. It's far and away the easiest possible mixed drink to make and it's nearly impossible to make badly. As a nod to Douglas Adams, it's also available anywhere liquor is served, which makes it a great test.
The drink I got was, well, shite. A glass that reminded me of grade school lunch (too small) loaded with ice and gin (noname brand, you can taste the bitterness), topped off with a sneeze of tonic. Way too strong, no lime, and bad gin - that's the trifecta of a shit GnT. I ordered a second one, just to make sure, and it was exactly as bad.
Well, Ireland's 32 - I got the message. You're an Irish bar with Irish drinks and you had Macallan's scotch, so I switched to that and guiness and made due. But you lose four stars for failing the simplest of bar tests.
The restroom cost you another star. Open door, dirty, sink with dual knobs (welcome to 1972) and no soap dispenser. Of the 10 men I witnessed leaving, only two went through the trouble of washing their hands - and one was me. (Beware girls! Men don't wash their hands after they 'go'!)
So, zero stars for you. But don't worry, you get one for being a good spot for DYL to congregate, one for being an IRISH bar, and one more for providing Keane a spot to rock. -

I don't have high expectations of pub food but was extremely pleased with the fish and chips. I've consumed my share of fish and this was some of the best I've tasted. It was hot and tender and tasty, and the accompanying condiments were excellent. Not just ketchup and tartar but a spiced ketchup and a remoulade. The fries were very crispy. The menu seemed very reasonably priced and I expect to be back for a pub burger or shepherd's pie (they call it cottage pie) or more fish.
There is a really good selection of beer and wine with ample TVs for viewing sports.
Bathrooms aren't very clean and have a strong urine smell so 4 * instead of 5. -

There comes a time of the week, when the office is the last thing you want to think about.
When we want to drown the noise of the blackberry ding, the g chat ping, and the reoccurring outlook ting, we come here on our Wednesday kickball nights to remember the joys of recess. ( At least our version of it )
Ireland's is a great bar, that epitomizes the no holds barred attitude of gettin' after it. All are welcome, and you are bound to leave sitting pretty.
The bartenders serve you with a smile and Peter, the owner, is a blast to chat with. The life of the party, he runs the bar with only one thing in mind: Keep the Fish Wet.
Pitchers and drinks are reasonably priced, and ask about the specials.
There's an upstairs area to mingle and plenty of tables scattered throughout the venue to challenge your opponents to some intellectual games of flip cup...
A Great stop along Geary, Ireland's just does it right.

Prior to last night I had not been to this bar in a very very long time. On the surface it seems to have potential. It is spacious, has darts and pool tables upstairs (where you can also smoke, if smoking inside is your thing) and bands on the weekend. However there are some very good reasons I skipped this place for so many years.
I recall the Guinness not being very good, the IRA memorabilia making me afraid I would say the wrong thing and get my ass kicked, and the drinks never being incredibly generous.
I decided, after all of these years of absence, to give it another go because Keane and Jeff said "Be there or be square". Yes, that is what they said! So, after much thought I decided I could not be square, it would look funny...a square me running around.
The Guinness was awful, the drinks were weak and I am still afraid to mention the numbers 26 or 32 or the fact that my dads side of the family hails from England.
Why 3 stars? One for Jeff, one for Keane and one for the bartender. He is one hard working man, that's all I'm saying. -

I'm still banned. Years ago, I took a friend from Iowa here. Her first reaction was: "Geez, there sure are a LOT of IRA posters up here." Loudly. Her follow up party foul was "Why is it called Ireland's 32? "Doesn't Ireland have 26 counties?" IDIOT!! Because the Irish want their 6 counties back from the limeys, you maroon.
Of course that got the Irish up of the bartender, and we were summarily tossed out, lucky to be alive. Not even my Irish creds, or the secret handshake could get us out of that one. Come for the live music (Festizio rocked the house!), stay for the Irish Car Bombs.
I would've never ventured into this bar (or inner Richmond) if it weren't for Keane's band performing last Friday. They had the most tasty Irish Car Bombs I've drunk in a long time. Their red-headed sluts, not so good. But that's my fault for ordering a shot when I should've stuck with the expansive beer menu.
Did anyone else notice that the bartenders were more generous with the ladies than with the guys? Whereas some guys got the plastic Budweiser cups, we kept getting our brews in actual pint glasses. Ah, 'tis nice to have a rack. -

Ireland's 32 holds a soft spot in my heart.
Several years ago, I was very ill for about 2 weeks straight, and was not able to get out of bed due to severe joint pain. I got a lot of TLC from the hubby and his brother (who was living with us at the time)...for the first week. About halfway through the second week, I was told that we were going out. To a bar. It was a statement, not a question.
I winced the entire car ride there. I grimaced as we made our way into the bar. I groaned as I hoisted myself up onto a bar stool. I looked pleadingly at my menfolk, and they would have nothing of it. I took a sip of my perfectly poured Guinness. I smiled.
Ireland's 32 is a real bar for people who like to drink beer and listen to live music. Ireland's 32 smells and looks like a European pub. Ireland's 32 is for people who appreciate great bartenders who know what they are doing and do it well.
Ireland's 32 is NOT for pussies. -

Had I walked into this bar at 9, when it was totally packed with Yelpers, shirts were coming off, underwear being thrown, and drinks being served in plastic cups, i might have been tempted to give it less than 4 stars. But quite honestly that all sounds like a good time to me!
This however was not the case. After arriving at 6:15ish, and seeing my ICB date at the bar, both of us having arrived early, I ordered a beer to tide me over till 6:32 when my first ICB of the year would be taken. It was served in a glass. Not plastic. One bartender working on a Friday night probably wasn't the best idea...but he did the best he could with what he had and I'm not going to hold it against him...but probably mainly because he made me laugh with one of my favorite stories of the evening. Let me start off by saying that I have always found the name Irish Car Bomb to be quite offensive...not like I'm Irish, but still. So i decided to be PC about ordering the first round. Being PC doesn't always pay off.
Me: Um, yah, can I order 5 of the drink that if i was to say the name of it you might be offended?
Overworked bartender: Oh, sure! (Starts pouring 5 shots, when we notice that he is using butterscotch schnapps)
Me: (Staring at the lone 5 shots, wondering if this is just 'his' way of pouring ICB's) Um....Where is the Guinness?
OB: Wha?
Me: Yah, the Guinness that gets served with the shot? In an Irish Car Bomb? The drink that i though if i ordered by name you would be offended?
OB: Oh! NO, these aren't Car Bombs...These are Cocksuckers!
Me: HA! I would have ordered a cocksucker by name!
Anyways, 5 wrong cocksucker shots later, we were out $30, but that was definitely one of my more memorable stories of the evening......That, and it was only my second drink. More ability to hang onto memories. Who knew sucking cock tasted like maple syrup?
Drink count: 2 Black Velvets (Guinness and Cider), 1 cocksucker, 3 ICB's (he finally got it right), 3 paler beers?, 1 kamikaze (courtesy of Matt H.) And this was all at the first bar. Whatever....I had a good time. Maybe next time I come here, I'll actually head upstairs to play pool. Seemed like a pretty cool space. -

I used to come here when I lived in The Fog and this was one of my locals. It still looks the same, but where the heck is everybody? And why are they out of all the good beers? I'm glad they still have all the radical posters on the ceiling.
It started to fill up later in the night (with people, not the good beers), but they weren't really my peeps anymore. Sad, that.
Still, I'll go anywhere to watch a pal's band play. -

Any bar that let people bring in outside food and allow eating it inside deserves 4-STARS!
After downing a few beers and shots after work with eight of my coolest co-workers at Thirsty Bear on a Friday night, half of us decided to head out to Ireland's 32 to see one of their boyfriend's band play. His band was already playing as we entered the bar with a huge paper bag of to-go sushi we picked up from Murasaki Sushi Bar on Clement.
As my friends and I enjoyed the music, ambiance, crowd and special sushi rolls, the waitress brought us some beers. We got a few stares here and there from random people especially when I busted out my bowl of rice, but I think they were just jealous and wanted some of our food.
Great place to see live, local bands. The crowd varies -- the first time I was here it was filled with college students, but last night, I think I was the youngest one there -- everyone seem to have been in their 30's and 40's. I guess it was only 11pm so it wasn't that crowded yet.
I don't like feeling claustrophobic at bars, so Irleand's 32 big open space is great. The highlight of the night was seeing a guy in a mask and leather pants play the theremin (musical instrument designed to be played without being touched) -- it was so awesome that my friends and I stood there watching and listening in awe!
I have yet to see the band, Festizio, play here. I heard they were pretty awesome, especially the guy named, Keane. I'm looking forward in seeing 'em play soon ;-)!Listed in: Last Call (Gettin' my drink…
