My starving stomach and I drove by the legendary Clam Box last week around dinnertime and took one look at that insane line and said NO BLEEPIN' WAY!  My hunger couldn't wait.  So my husband and I tried out another place we noticed on the same street--IPSWICH CLAMBAKE.  It's more of a fish market than a diner, but it did the trick.  We ordered clam chowder, fried clams and fried shrimp.  They were just as tasty as the Clam Box stuff, and we were even more impressed with the Clambake's onion rings.  So crispy and fresh-tasting!  I'm thinking the Bake probably has fresher-tasting fry oil than the Box because the Bake has fewer customers.  Maybe that was the difference?  I dunno, but...Shhhhh.  The last thing we need is a line at the Clambake too!
