Review from L W.
Oakland, CA
The negative reviews are a bummer to see, because I just had my cracked iPhone screen and lcd replaced on Sunday and had no problems: I dropped my phone off in person at 3 in the afternoon and picked it up 2 hours later.
My guess is that those who have had negative experiences are people whose phones' damage is more extensive than mine was (i.e. it's not an easy or quick fix) and those who live far away and can't bring it in, in person. Based on the reviews here, I probably wouldn't have sent my phone in but because I live only an hour away, I decided to take a chance and drive it up.
I wasn't able to find a more affordable repair anywhere else and I think the work done was quality, and it was certainly expedient. I did see that he had a LOT of work in front of him and I would say that, rather than assuming he's dishonest or scamming like reviews here suggest, he probably has taken on quite a bit more work than he can handle in a short period of time. Give him a break! -

Originally I wrote a 1 star review for this business because I sent in my water-damaged iPod, which they told me in an email they could repair, but didn't get back to me in 3 months. I tried calling and emailing a few times in those months with no response, so I emailed and showed them my Yelp review after which they were quick to correspond. They said they looked everywhere and never received it, though I used the courtesy postage paid slip they emailed for me to print and place on the package. To salvage my experience they attempted to send me a replacement iPod free of charge, and explained that they're very busy sometimes so it's hard to get back to people.
As it stands I just filed an insurance claim to the post office, because I got a notice that I missed when they tried to deliver it once. I brought the notice to the post office, they searched for it and couldn't find it. So close -__- Wayne, who works for this business was sure to insure the package, so he emailed me the costs, article number, etc.
As much as I hate to bash a small, local business, I'm concerned about the same thing happening to others. They did try to send me an iPod free of charge though, so I can't complain about that. The only thing I'd suggest is to not mail in your damaged iPod/iPhone, etc. -

I took my phone to NorthBay Electronics with the hopes of having the water damage to my 3g fixed. Short story they only wasted my time and money.
My phone was kept by the shop for four months. Two months into the process I requested my money back and the phone returned. Two months later, multiple calls and 10+ messages I receive A phone back. My original phone had the invisible shield this crap they sent me doesn't. I was refunded part of the money and returned a non working iphone.
I strongly urge you to use another repair shop. -

Guys, just want to follow up with my iphone status. I talked to Wayne for few time this two days, He is making sure that my iphone is working properly. It is taking them a long time to get them back to us, because they have so many iphone with them. He told me they have more then 30 phones in their shop now, they have to work OT for it. They are sending my iphone back to me today and everything is working. I think it is worth the wait. Hope everyone got them iphone back in time for the Holiday :)

Yeah, everyone knows it is really REALLY sucks without your phone. But since it is my second time in 3 months for dropping my phone in the toilet, I basically cannot blame anyone but myself... My lovely co-worker googled it and found info that I should put wet (and all nasty) iphone in the bag of rice, so I tried.. no sign of life after 4 full days, I decided to turn my phone in to NorthBay Electronics. I have no regret. Of course, it takes time to complete the repair,,, well, after all, it is all my fault, even I lost my patience few times cus I felt it was forever... but It is all right, Now I got my phone back and it is perfectlly functioning. I am really happy with their service and appreciate for their professionalism. TUVM, Wayne =)

Horrible service. They are unresponsive to phone calls. I tried to give them a little extra time due to the holidays, but this is getting ridiculous. Beware.
