3 reviews for Iowa House Hotel
I went here with my girlfriend last month. We arrived around 10 PM or so and went up to the front desk to check in. The place was empty. There was some guy standing there on the phone discussing where to look for housing (apartment) listings in Iowa City. My girlfriend and I stood there holding our luggage for probably ten or fifteen minutes while he kept talking on the phone.
Finally, my girlfriend said, "Excuse me?" to see if we could maybe check in.
He snapped bitchily, "I'm on the phone!"
My girlfriend replied, "We've been standing here for a long time. Can we at least check in?"
"Our policy is to help customers on the phone first," he whined back rudely.
I couldn't believe it. He wasn't even on the phone talking about hotel business or anything, he was helping someone look for apartments at 10 PM?! I'm all for helping others if you can, but is it really all that much to ask the person on the phone to hold on for LESS THAN A MINUTE to check a HOTEL GUEST in? After they've been standing there fifteen minutes too long? I've never heard of such a policy like helping phone-ins with non-hotel business prior to helping actual customers that are physically standing there waiting for your lazy slow rude bitchy ass to get off the phone..This guy was such a joke.
I guess you get what you pay for?
I had to deal with these dudes ALL the time in college because of their placement in the University Memorial Union. They were always pretty courteous and easy to deal with and they even let me have a room for a few hours to shoot part of a short film. They're good folks.
excellent service and staff.
