High marks for its location: it's the closest inn to the Point Reyes Lighthouse and very close to Tomales Bay and the quaint town, Point Reyes Station, with great dining options.
High marks for being dog-friendly: there is a decent dog-run in the property where your pooch can chase balls and play, there is a nature trail where you can take your dog for a walk and they provide you with a dog bed and biodegradable poop bags.
High marks also for being so environment friendly: they use solar power, they recycle and the friendly owners drive Priuses.
Props also for the free wireless and the adorable llamas, goat and sheep.
Two things that I didn't quite enjoy were the thin walls between rooms in the cottages and the mismatched furniture.
I'm going to try to be as fair as I can when I write this review. I'll give the good and the bad with all fairness. So, the main reason I chose this place is because they allowed pets. So I proceeded to make a phone call to ask about their rules, I was told by a man that they did in fact allow pets. I then asked if I could book this room online - it's easier that way. He said totally fine. And told me which rooms were pet friendly so I would know which to pick online.
I booked the room on line and INCLUDED a tag somewhere there that I had 2 dogs. I ALSO booked the WHALE ROOM because it was one of the pet friendly rooms.
So, the day came and we checked in around 7:15pm - still 45 mins before they shut down for the night. I had to use a phone to ring the Inn Keeper. My first impression of the place was that it was a calm, relaxing, cozy, cute and quiet place. So, I was really gearing myself up for a nice pleasant stay. When I rang the phone, a man answered and proceeded to tell me he will meet me to give me my keys.
Alden I think was his name. HE SMELLED LIKE LIQUOR so much that it seemed like he bathed in it. If you're in the hotel industry, I suggest you keep the liquor intake to zero until after working hours. Minus one star for that.
When we were settling in the room, phone rings. It's LESLIE. Speaking loudly on the phone, telling me how they didn't know we had two dogs, that they saw we carried in two dogs and that I should have told them I was coming in with dogs when I made the reservation. BLAH BLAH...BLAH. Told me it's $20 extra for dogs. FINE - no big deal. charge the card. Then told me about bio bags, dog beds, dog towels etc...Asked me if she should bring it in. I said, don't need the beds but yes, awesome, bring the towels and the bio bags. Minus one more star for your attitude. Phone manners needs work.
So LESLIE comes in...and uses THAT TONE. The kind of TONE, that any person who has had a long day want to deal with that kind of attitude. Look LESLIE - You said it ONCE over the phone and didn't need to repeat yourself. You were BITCHY - admit it. You're in this business for a reason. And in this economy, I don't think you have any right nor leisure to be condescending and rude to your customers.
Minus two stars.
The ONE star that I do give is for it being dog friendly and the room itself was cozy). BTW - pillows were lumpy.
I won't stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Great for everyone! The trails are great for hikers, llamas, sheep, goats and chickens great for kids, (the eggs are good, too!) nice pool and hot tub, and the staff are very friendly. This place is great for a weekend stay.
The only bad thing I have to say is that the walls were very thin could hear everything.
Another bonus: Eco-friendly appliances.
The location of this place is very strong - close to the park entrance. While they are by no means luxury accomodations, they are nice and quite reasonably priced. We also appreciated the attention to eco-friendly efforts (fluorescent bulbs and low flow water devices)
Pool and Hot Tub just fine for a soak after a long hike.
Owners friendly and provided delicious fresh eggs that we prepped in the kitchenette in our room.
Bed just fine - comfortable and clean - Wifi worked fine. . . walls are a bit thin.
On the whole a bit rustic, but that's part of the charm and it worked out just fine for a weekend getaway.
We loved this place! We came with our two small children (3 & 1 yr old). The cottages are set amongst a large open area, perfect for allowing the children to burn off some energy. They are located near the lighthouse, a few beaches and downtown Pt Reyes. Highly recommend.
Several cottages in a beautiful setting. Pool, hot tub, tennis courts, horse shoe pit (and more activities) - Goats, sheep, chickens there. Friendly and helpful staff.
You can walk to a beach on Tomales bay (~2 miles) through a beautiful park. It's close to many Hiking possibilities and the towns of Inverness, Inverness Park and Point Reyes Station. Also sailing and kayaking very close.
No crowds, very family friendly, cabin had a small kitchen and separate bed room. Cable TV and internet (although you'd come here to get away from that, no?). Cabins are joined and you can occasionally hear your neighbors especially if they have very excited children.
I would certainly come back again.
Great for a large small group (we were 34 adults and 7 kids including infants). The owners were great and we were able to rent the downstairs of their house to use as the main kitchen and hang out area. We played tennis and lawn croquet. The kids got to see chickens, goats and sheep in the little farm area they have. The family suites were an outer bedroom that you had to walk through to get to the inner room with a shared bathroom and kitchenette. You have to be really good friends for this situation. They also have double rooms which hold couples very nicely and if you have little ones they've got cribs. The pool and hot tub were great! Well worth a visit to be that close to the national park and do many of the numerous hikes around or visits to the beaches.
This is a cute place to stay, very friendly, nice little cottages, with kitchens and nothing fancy but low key and just right for a nite stay when you didn't make reservations.....also... they are pet friendly!
The inn exists out of a number of little house set back in a redwood valley mixed with other trees and meadows. Each unit looks new, has its own deck, gas fireplace, bathroom and kitchen . The owner were very nice and let us rent the bottom floor of their house with kitchen for my wife birthday party (40 people). We had a blast. The owners are very kids friendly.
They do not (yet?) include breakfast, but their is a bakery about 3 minutes away in inverness. Great hiking an biking... Lots of nature...We will definitely come back here...
