Mmm, IHOP. A slightly better alternative to Denny's when you want classic all-American food complete with butter, cholesterol, and fats. Oh yeah, don't forget the sweets too! For example, you can get syrup shots in your soda/soft drink/carbonated beverage. From my experiences, sandwiches and breakfast items are ok, and the portions are pretty big, so if you like to eat small, be prepared to share your meal with a friend.

Having said that, the service at this particular IHOP is REALLY slow (hence the rating). So slow, in fact, that I have canceled my order at times (after waiting for 30+ minutes for the food and drinks) and just left the restaurant outright.  Not very relaxing to eat here at all. If you want better American food with good service (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), try out the local options such as Apple Farm or Splash Cafe. Otherwise, I'd avoid eating here...unless I had some IHOP coupons.

I must first remark that I find it interesting that my first review on Yelp is for an International House of Pancakes in San Luis Obispo, which can either be entirely depressing or, if you happen to be from San Luis Obispo, a non-issue.

That being said, I wasn't truly expecting the greatest of service, selection, or quality; it is, after all, an IHOP.  I did expect, however, palatable coffee, proper place settings, and, particularly during a slow afternoon, prompt service.

After inexplicably having our waiter replaced, we were treated to several carafes of a dark beverage that was truly "best and most efficient."  Following this we were treated to small servings of the meals we had each ordered.  I had the Swedish Pancakes, which were topped with a lingonberry sauce that was the only plus of the meal, despite being a bit too sweet.  I believe the group consensus, except the one member who ordered the infinite pancake stack, was that our meals were a bit over-priced for the amount we received.  It is, after all, Americana, right?  I truly don't expect a weight conscious portion when I'm eating at an establishment that offers chicken-fried steak.

In one statement: we ate, we paid, we left, and we're probably never returning.

I like IHOP, theres something about it. Maybe it's that cute little pot of coffee they put on your table (my girlfriend and I call it our "little buddy"), or the different syrups, but I enjoy spending breakfast here. The menu is pretty simple, pancakes, waffles, blintzes, omelettes, as well as a full lunch and dinner menu. No matter what the hour, I always gravitate toward the Belgian Waffle, very tasty. Prices are decent, and service is nice. It does get pretty busy on weekend mornings, but I've never waited too too long.

While nothing special, IHOP is a nice little place for decent food. The biggest complaint I have is that they stopped serving 24 hours, meaning the hungry night-owl will have to suffice with....ugh...Denny's.

My visiting family and I went to this place last night mainly since my DH wanted (ugh) liver and onions, not very common on menus lately.  Alas, they no longer offer it.  I was chatting with my sister instead of reading the menu, and when the waitress came to take our orders I asked her for another couple minutes. She stood there staring at me.  I said again that I needed a couple more minutes, and was she going to just stand and look at me.  She proceeded to do just that.  Feeling very pressured, I ordered the first thing I saw.  My sister thought that perhaps the Mexican waitress hadn't understood what I'd said. Twice.
The picture in the menu showed the tilapia served with a little drizzle of Hollandaise sauce but it came drenched in it.  Tilapia has a subtle flavor.  Too bad it was totally drowned in all that sauce.

The waitress never came to ask how our meal was, and then we had to wait over 5 minutes at the cash register to pay so we could get out of there.
My sister said that she had had lunch at the IHOP in Pismo Beach that day, and said that the service was so bad there too that she had left NO tip at all!  Why didn't she tell me that before!

I had the T-bone steak and eggs for breakfast with hash browns and pancakes.  You can't really mess the eggs up and they were fine, the hash browns were decent.  The pancakes were par.  The two downers on this was the price of the t-bone steak and eggs which was around $14.  The t-bone steak quality was not good at all.  Mystery steak.  Really this plate should be more around $9.00.  Picture of meal is here on this page.

Boo.  My BF has an allergy to wheat gluten, so he has to make special requests for his food not to have certain things in them.  If an establishment can't handle this, it's really annoying.  However, I am an understanding person and not usually in a hurry.  However, we waited forever to get the redo of his omelet.  When it came we asked for a to-go box. Additionally, I asked for the check and requested not to be charged for the avocado that he had ordered.  Instead of doing that, she brought a little sliver in a to-go box and charged us.  I mean... add injury to insult.  Boo to this IHOP.  Also, boo to missing our appointments :-(

Well, it's an IHOP... what can I really expect, you ask? How about service? OF ANY KIND! four of us arrived and were seated at a booth, and were joined by a fifth person minutes after we ordered our drinks. For about 10 minutes, three people were squeezed into one side of a four-person booth while two booths over, two people were sitting at a 6-person corner booth. Eventually, they sat us at a larger table, where we waited 15 minutes before our orders were taken. This was followed by almost half an hour before we got our order, half of which was WRONG. Overall, we sat for over an hour before getting our food, and some of us sat almost an hour and a half. This would be excusable at a full, proper, restaurant. But this was a half-empty IHoP... So not worth it.
