Really 5 stars people? Hum . . .
Saturday brunch at 10am. Kind of a crowded parking lot, so be warned you might have to fish for a spot. No real line we had to wait for when coming in, just a just wait while they prepped a booth. Attentive but non friendly Host - oh well.
Everything was wiped down before us, but it then they still left the tabletop wet - ick! Solvable though, quick wipe through. Short wait and we ordered. Promptly served waters and coffee. I ordered the mushroom/ tomato/ spinach omelet - the healthy version though (I super appreciate and yet HATE seeing the calorie count on the menu). The whole order itself took quite a while, not forever but be prepared for a wait. My omelet was really good though, incredibly fresh, just right amount of swiss and honestly was surprised. But was it a five star omelet - NO!
Overall good service, good diner food and great company for a morning brunch.
worst service ever. i went with my hubby prolly the middle of the night, where there was no one else to serve and this idiot waitress forgot my drink, brought our food late, and got the order wrong.
i dont remember the taste, im sure we weren't impressed.
My bf and I stopped by there for breakfast and I never tried chocolate chip pancakes before, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I made myself eat half of it. The combination of chocolate and pancakes didn't mix too well for me. And I think the waitress sensed I wasn't happy with it at all. She was so nice she took the pancakes back and didn't charge me them even though I ate half. I ordered a grilled cheese instead and it was really good.
Im surprised they took a bit of a financial loss to keep me as a customer satisfied. Really good customer service. I'll be coming back more often :)
Btw, their open 24 hrs which was good when I was craving a strawberry milkshake at 2 am.
Currently IHOP is promoting all you can eat pancakes for $4.99. After seeing the promo in a tv commercial, I booked it to Alhambra the very next morning. BE-JESUS, GAWDANG IT were they effing good! I came for the pancakes, who cares about the recent new renovation of this location, who cares if the service was crappy, thankfully it wasn't, who cares if I had to drive down Fremont to get there, but Holy Lordy, praise Jesus, those suckers were good!
Went there last night, since it is open 24hrs, and must say, service was good, food was good, decor was nice, and restrooms were clean.
I had there chicken fried steak and eggs, which came with hashbrowns, toast (or pancakes if you like), and 3 eggs. Everything was really good, either that or I was still buzzed! j/k.. No, seriously though, the food was really good. The chicken fried steak was actually really good, and the gravy that was served was so good, I asked for extra.
Would I recommend, yes. Mind you, this is me reviewing this place, after 2am...
They're advertised pictures of the new Hawaiian pancakes and all are sooooo offfff! Check out what I got instead.
I know the product or food never comes out to be as nice or close to the picture advertised, but this was way way way way off. Don't get this item.
this is located really close to my house, so it's a quick drive whenever i crave an "american" breakfast. i really like their breakfast selection, with their ample variety of pancake, french toast, omelette, and crepe combos. they even have nutella crepes!
i've never gotten anything else besides breakfast food here cause everything else looks unappealing to me. in fact, i'm reviewing solely based on my breakfast experiences. i'd probably go somewhere else for lunch or dinner.
the waiters always seem to make an effort to be friendly and attentive. i usually come in the morning or after midnight and have never left disappointed.
service is horrible before midnight. service is pretty damn decent after midnight. we come in a pretty large group and the service is attentive, friendly and they know to split the bill ahead of time.
then again, maybe it's because they know our group by now - we go to them probably once a month for the past 6-7 months.
and then also, everyone is tired at the end of their shift, so just before midnight, the people are getting anxious to leave, so they're tired and irritated - but the new midnight crew comes in and they're fresh and energized, or at least happy to serve.
i suppose just time your meals and you'll get someone decent. though i've never had actual breakfast here, during the daytime.. i've only gone late at night. :P
When I think of IHOP, I think of late night studying for finals in college: spending hours with friends and roommates discussing esoteric irrelevant science, in between a tasty, artery-clogging, 4,000 calorie breakfast and the occasional cigarette out on the patio. Fortunately for my coronaries, those days are over. But I still have a soft spot for IHOP.
This location was below par - although the service was friendly and fast, and the food decent, the bathrooms smelled like someone had sprayed "essence of crotch" all over the place, and the whole restaurant in general looked to be in a state of disrepair. Of course, if you're going to IHOP at one in the morning, you've already lowered your expectations somewhat. But if they're going to charge as much as they do (it used to be cheap, dammit) - they better be at least as clean and tidy as the Dennys over on Main.
Incidentally, for the amusement of it, I tried one of their new "healthy" menu choices - the garden scramble, I think it was - and it was pretty damn good. Be warned, however, that one of their strategies to meet the "under 600 calories" goal it to offer a much smaller portion than usual.
Seriously... the best service I've had in a while.
The eggs were cooked to perfection. Never had to search for tabasco, or extra napkins... the damned pepper even came out of the shaker in a awesome fashion.
Our waitress was cheerful, nimble and just an all around treat to be around. Despite our 20 years of age difference, I asked her if I could take her home.
Seriously...worst service I've had in a while.
Had an hour and 15 minutes for lunch today before an appointment at 1:30. Pulled into IHOP to be ignored for 15 minutes after being seated. The order took over 30 minutes to come out. And guess what? one of the meals was totally the wrong thing. But we didn't make a fuss because french toast sounds so much like fish, anyone could have screwed that up. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to sort it out and the person who ordered fish likes French toast too, so we let it slide.
The crepes were good, I just wish I had more time to enjoy them.
I have mixed feelings about this IHOP over my 15+ year attendance. haaha.
so i guess my review will be my the last year review.
i have only come here between 12am - 2am.
SERVICE: always take forever to get their attention and to take your order. it seems there is only ONE waiter for like 10+ tables and 1 busboy too. the cooks are always fucking around and laughing with each other. they seem to be happy, so i guess my food is usually good.
FOOD: typical IHOP. it is franchise, though i do see slight variations. this one is so-so. i mean nothing special.
ACCURACY: they have never messed up my order.
TIME: slow to take and receive order. but considering the hours i go here it s the only option in alhambra except fastfood.
CLEANLINESS: good. pretty much on top of that.
OVERALL: i never come here because i want to. it is usually because it s the only thing open at that time when im on this side of the area.
I went back for a try after they rennovated. I must say that it improved a lot from before. The inside looks brighter, cleaner, newer, and more welcoming. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and I love IHOP's breakfast menu. They have a large selection and variety of breakfast choices. Their buttermilk pancakes are light and fluffy, simply yummilicious. The spinach and mushroom omelette I had was perfectly cooked. The portion was quite big and so worth the price. In addtion, their fresh squeezed orange juice was not too tangy or pulpy. It's quite a refreshing start to any breakfast.
