This is a market, not a sit-down deli.
Great source for Russian and other international products. Assorted Russian candies in bulk - take a brown paper bag and fill it with your choice. Good prices especially on cheese, dried fruits and nuts and produce. There's a limited selection of produce and it's not always of the best quality, so go elsewhere for that. Lots of imported canned and jarred goods - try the various vegetable spreads. Try also the herring in the flat plastic container near the cheeses - you'll never go back to the bottled kind (if you go in for that sort of thing). Great selection of teas and juices. Wonderful deli choices. Try piroshki with cherry filling. Or the eggplant stuffed with cheese. Their freezer has all sorts of great stuff for easy meals:
blinchiki = crepes filled with meat or fruit or cheese. Fry them up in a little oil on a non-stick pan.
pelmeni = dumplings filled with meat, mushrooms, etc. Boil as per the instructions
vareniki = Ukrainian dumplings filled with cherries or sweet cheese. Boil per instructions
Oh, and it really helps if you speak Russian there, but you can get by with smiling and pointing and ignoring Soviet-style customer service. They really are nice, it's just a cultural thing...
