Neighborhood: Georgetowni really enjoy boutique shopping and had high hopes for intermix...especially when reading rave reviews about the store in LA. i was very disappointed with my experience in the georgetown store. for the most part the clothing was fine....no unique pieces like you would find at urban chic or south moon under, just standard run of the mill trendy designer clothing...which is fine, i guess. the staff is incredibly rude and very unhelpful. i was not impressed. at. all.

What a disappointment. I was looking for a Fendi Spy bag and instead, I found completely sub par customer service. When I walked in, 3 of the girls were standing by the cash registers having a "deep" convo about the bar last night. I didn't even get a "hello" or "may i help you?". I guess that is alright...at the CVS up the street, but not when I am about to drop $2400. This isn't the first time this has happened to me either, nor to my friends. I absolutely will never shop here again.

This is a good place to go when you want to look at the season's latest styles -- so you can find them cheaper somewhere else. There are so many things in here that I would buy if I was irresponsible, but I am trying to be good.
I almost cracked one time when I tried on a *beautiful* $500 shirt dress, but I saved myself at the last minute. I mean, maybe if it was a cocktail dress, but a shirt dress -- no.
The staff here just seems bored. I feel like they size people up when they walk in the door, and don't pay attention to you if you are just browsing. So come here if you want to blow some cash on designer items, they really do have many cute things here.

The service is often lackluster and the clientele a mix of college sorority girls with daddy's credit card and younger women with sugar daddies. I went in to buy an outfit for NY fashion week and actually had decent service from a tall salesgirl (forget name), but ended up being oggled by an older gentleman who was buying lots of "age-appropriate" clothes for his tacky girlfriend/wife. They only get in a few real designer pieces (Chloe, Matthew Williamson, Thakoon) every season in limited sizes/colors but the selection is uninventive unless you get all your stylistic cues from teen magazines.

Love the merch this store stocks . . . but I feel obligated to assert some observations (always trying to inform smart consumers out there):
1. Of the 20-something times I've been in this store, I've probably only been asked to help by a cute and well put-together girl twice. I'll go so far as to say that I probably have received more attention from the security guards than the actual staff.
2. The store on Newbury in Boston is not as big, but boasts better service and a more private experience. Coming into the DC store feels like you're shopping amidst masses of college girls who are there to see and be seen.
3. The buyer for this nation-wide boutique is ingenius. They always pick pieces that will surely be well-received, and they are always ahead of all other stores in featuring New Season inventory.
4. There is some variety in terms of labels they stock and the price ranges they cater to, but there is not much variety in terms of who they conceive their customer to be. I sometimes feel silly here. I'm not a college girl with well-to-do parents who idolizes US Weekly A-List celebs and their new jeans. . . . (though I do appreciate all those things as singular entities).
5. The markup on their merch is considerable, though not as drastic as it may appear. Their stuff really is quality and designer, and new. I've clocked some shoes and have found them cheaper online (as can be expected). Also, just waiting for end-of-season sales sometimes pays off.
6. Their online store offers only a fraction of the selection found in-store, but often posts sale items that are not so visibly advertised at their physical locations.
