This hotel was absolutely beautiful from the rooms to the bar to the lobby to the outdoor area to the fountain in front to EVERYTHING! Seriously, this was such a nice hotel to stay at.
I was visiting my bf who is still in Atlanta doing his Army stuff (he's a democrat, no worries!) & was checking Orbitz for a good deal. The InterContinental was a bit more expensive, but I thought I would splurge & let us enjoy a comfy king sized bed, air conditioned room. Well I arrived & we were somehow placed on the Ambassador floor. Um, excuse me? We had a great view, a huge bed, nice linens, and a whirlpool bathtub. I could not have been a happier lady. We didn't try out the French restaurant in the lobby, but definitely hit up the bar. While the drinks were a bit pricey, they definitely weren't lacking in the liquor so I can't really complain.
The staff was incredibly kind & were definitely willing to help. When I mentioned that my flight wasn't until late afternoon they let Ryan & I stay in the room until 2:00 pm for FREE. Mmm-hmm, Momma like.
Only downside was the incidentals were $200.00, ouch!

I normally stay at the Westin Buckhead (which I love) but wanted to stay here based off of rave reviews from friends. Maybe my expectation was super high and I was expected the Taj Mahal.
Decor: It was definitely nice and clean, lovely lobby with beautiful domed ceiling.
Service: The room was not ready at 3:30pm (check-in is at 3pm). The desk rep took my cell # and said she'd call when the room was ready. There were other couples that were waiting also but when I started seeing people roll their luggage in and head to elevators I got a little upset. I marched to the front desk 35 minutes later and got in line with 10 people waiting (4th of July weekend was super busy). She pleasantly said my room was ready (how convenient that it is finally ready when I walk up. I'm sure I would have been waiting another 30 minutes if I didn't go check).
Room: It was nice. We received a room with doubles which was a boo and the lovely view of downtown Atlanta that the desk rep mentioned was actually a view of the Embassy Suites next door with a partial view of downtown, but whatever. Also, the room doesn't have a flat screen tv. I think even the 3 star hotels have flat screens. Eh...
Bathroom: This was the best part of the room. Nicely decorated and a nice glass shower even though the Westin beats the Intercontinental shower with their double showerheads. I also wished they had shower gel like Westin and Marriott. Minor, I know, I'm just saying... lol...
Location: We walked to Lenox for fireworks and it took about 10 minutes. Not bad. Westin is closer.
Overall: I liked the Intercontinental as a runner up. I still choose the Westin first. To each their own. Good thing I got a discounted price through Hotwire. That's the only way I'd stay. (Same with Westin too though... lol).
Stunningly beautiful lounges and ballrooms, complimentary access to top floor lounge where you can find sodas, juice, snacks, and coffee all day long, and predominantly friendly staff.
My only complaint would be what they charge for "extras", such as roll away beds and additional access to the afore-mentioned lounge. We had one extra person in our room (booked an executive suite for bridesmaids the day before the wedding) that apparently cost $25 for her free coke and juice. I mean, if you're already paying that much for the room, can't a gal have a free coke?
Other issue was being told that all of our room keys would get us in and out, a courtesy since we were running around to prepare for a wedding. When we're already running late, half the bridal party are stuck in the parking deck because the keys weren't working and you can't pay at the exit. So I blame the Intercontinental for the half hour delayed wedding!
I'm sure everything would have been peachy if it were just for pleasure, as the issues wouldn't and couldn't have been issues. Overall, I was happy with the hotel.
This hotel set the standard for future travels. My company flew me out to interview for a job, and this was the hotel they put me up in. Received a great amenity in my room, which was beautifully decorated.
The staff was diverse and very friendly. The lobby, bar, french brasserie were all beautiful. Yes, parking is expensive but for a 4-5 star hotel, that comes with the territory and it is still half the price of Chicago hotels where I moved from, so a steal!
I had to return back to Atlanta, before moving down here, and I was put up in the hotel again, for some meetings. The meeting rooms were beautiful, with windows overlooking the courtyard area. The Club lounge was incredible as well!

Stayed here for five nights for a company meeting and never experienced anything but superior customer service. The decor of this property is elegant with the use of black and brown tones. Great layout of meeting rooms with a beautiful courtyard in the center. We had buffet breakfasts and lunches each day and the food was excellent.
My sleeping room was a decent size and the comfort of the bed was superb. Awesome bathroom with a deep contoured tub perfect for destressing after a long day.
This property exudes first-class.

Amazing. Beautiful rooms, outstanding door, bell, & concierge service, and just downright swanky. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The only minor problem if you could even call it that, was I did not realize that the mini-bar had sensors on them so I got charged for nearly everything in it several days in a row! Of course, I had to be snoopy and pick up the wine and read the labels and move things around to fit my water in... Seriously, do people frequently drink the entire contents within a couple hours upon checking in? Mo, Party of 1!
They subtracted the minibar charges from my account when I checked out. The only minor complaint I have is that the products were ucky. I don't want to smell like orange ginseng all day. ucky ucky uck.
This place has become my measuring stick for all Atlanta hotels. My first visit was for a swift $75 per night, making it an incredibly inexpensive weekend. Hotwire has specials regularly (I can't tell you how I know I'm picking the Intercontinental [it's a secret]) for the above price on the typical weekend night. It is a walk to Lenox Mall and many other Buckhead shops and restaurants and they provide a shuttle (usually an Escalade) for anything within' 1.5 miles (from what I remember, but don't quote the distance).
The first time I went I was put in a room with two double beds by accident and we called and they immediately apologized and told us to meet them at a different room. We went to that room and just stood expecting to wait at least 10-15 mins., but at the exact time we got to the door someone delivered our key while taking a second to catch his breath and profusely apologized and immediately turned around not even giving me a chance to tip him. That set the stage, but really shows their commitment to top of the line service.
The location, service, and quality of the facility make it my favorite Atlanta hotel, until I find anything else better...

Agreed. Outstanding service. The beds were made to be sunk into. Door and bell folks provided EXCEPTIONAL service. The gentleman who assisted me with my luggage in remembered my name two days later, and pronounced it correctly at that. Sushi here was surprisingly good. The Whiskey bar selection was impressive, and overall the grounds are superbly kept.
Negatives:
VAlet parking is fking expensive...$24 a day, regular parking at $17 a day is NOT worth it. The gym was not very impressive for how lavish the hotel was. Put some more elliptical machines in there!! The crowd is older. Live jazz musicians in the afternoon and early evening are fantastic, but I felt very young there.
Positives:
There is a separate shower and what must be the most enormous bathtub I have ever seen in a hfotel. It's huge. I mean, HUGE. Lve jazz in the early evenings is lovely. The french restaurant is delish.... probably the best fruit plate delivered ever.
Overall though, I will probably continue to stay at the Grand Hyatt across the way. I miss my morning conversations with the sBux lady who remembers my drink even though I only see her maybe once a month. Now that's service.

If somebody isn't impressed and pleased by this hotel, then I'll have to assume that said person is probably continually disappointed with their experiences at hotel. This place is absolutely fantastic. Yeah, the 17 dollar parking is a bit of a bummer, and if you choose to dine at this establishment it'll be rather pricey. But remember, this is in a great neighborhood (and in Atlanta, this is IMPORTANT so that you don't get shot) and is an upscale hotel. You cannot be too surprised by the dollar value placed on things.
That said, both times I've "won" stays here on Priceline, I've spent 75 bucks or less. Looking online, the rack rate is apparently 400 or so dollars. Yikes!! I'm glad I have my "skillz" with Priceline, or else I'd be setting up shop at the Super 8.
The rooms are large, and very well appointed. Impeccably clean and kept up...the beds are great, the TV is wonderful...it's just so relaxing. I can see why TripAdvisor's raters have placed this one so high. The real treat, however, is the bathroom. A glass shower with marble walls....as well as a large jacuzzi bathtub. I stay in a lot of 4 star hotels, and very few have BOTH of those. In fact, many don't even have ONE of those.
Awesome place...recommended.

The rooms are pretty nice and the service is good. The work out center is awesome. You get your own little tv with each machine. The pool is also nice, although there were many kids running around.
The location is nice also, being near shopping and new restaurants. Overall, I like the hotel, but I prefer the Four Seasons in Atlanta, if you're looking for the more high-end hotel.

3.5 stars
Absolutely gorgeous hotel--the staff are very friendly and do their best to accomodate you. The housekeeping service is also fantastic.
So why not four or five stars? Well, I was there for a work event, and was really disappointed with the way they handled our catering. I have a very restricted diet which we made the Intercontinental staff aware of ahead of time (even giving them a list of foods I could eat), but every day, at every meal they served me the same plate of "steamed" vegetables--the only change? One day the plate arrived, 40 minutes late, with a hunk of chicken on it--we sent it back and it arrived later covered in butter. The hotel also tried to charge $30 per meal for me--$30 for a pile of microwaved vegetables that don't even fit the parameters of what I can eat? For shame...
Other than that little blip I did really enjoy my experience. I would stay here again, but would definitely skip the room service and restaurant food.
PS--if you have peanut allergies do not eat the little fruity hard candies they place outside of the conference rooms.

5 Stars for the newly awarded 5 diamond hotel. That's right, the InterCon Buckhead joins a very exclusive list of 5 diamond hotels in Georgia.
My company hosted a 2 day conference here. I assist in planning the conferences, so naturally I came and participated and stayed here. I got upgraded to a room on the 19th floor, part of the "Club InterContinental" program. The room, which is said to have 400 sq feet, was large and very nice. After I walked through the marble hallway into the room, I was greeted by the most comfortable looking huge king bed. The bed was already turned down with the same chocolates other have mentioned. I had a corner room, with a N and E view. Both were very nice. The desk was large enough for me to get a lot of my work done in the evenings. The tv was nice, but somehow I expected a LCD, not a flat CRT. OH WELL... ::sigh:: darn... Anyways... The bathroom was by far the best part. Easily 6 times the size of the bathroom in my house, I enjoyed it very much. There was the huge bathtub and the walk in shower with marble walls and a glass door. I found it a little strange that the coffee maker is in the bathroom, but none-the-less, excellent.
The service, from the front desk, bellmen, conference services (thanks Melissa!) catering, IT, AV, to the room service staff were all excellent. I dined a few times from room service, having the (not so good) Lobster Risotto with dry lousy lobster, to the chicken that was pretty good and decent sushi.
Overall I was impressed with my first stay in a 5 diamond hotel. The Intercon has earned 4 stars, 5 diamonds, and is one of my favorite nationwide!

Very nice *using my best Borat voice." I haven't had the opportunity to sleep here, however, I did go to a ball that was put on by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
This place is swanky! I mean, you know you're in a high class place when the paper towels in the men's room are folded- and feel more like towels than disposable paper products.
The ballroom inside is HUGE and very beautiful! The long open breeze ways etc leading to the ballroom are perfect in getting lost in, which is ironic, because the building on the outside makes it look way more small.
Cheers to you InterContinental Buckhead Hotel! Thanks for adding some swank to this little southern town!

Aesthetically superior. Maybe a few minor faults, BUT service above the call. Due to a staff error I was provided the keys for a night to the Presidential Suite and it is BEYOND DOUBT the most amazing 3000+ square foot hotel room layout in Atlanta. Exquisite!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel -- every aspect from the interior, to the valet service, to the accommodations. I've been a guest here and have attended several black tie functions here, and have always been impressed. They do a wonderful job maintaining the uncompromised reputation of the InterContinental Hotels.

I blame this hotel for my associating embroidered bees with rich people. Well, this hotel and Brooks Brothers. Fresh orchids in the room? A bathroom with marble floors, a separate shower, and a tub big enough for two people? Belgian chocolates left on your pillow during turndown service? A feather bed? Gasp and swoon! I caught the vapors! We stayed at the Intercontinental in Buckhead a while back and it's, by far, the most uppity hotel I've ever been in. The public bathroom in the lobby has actual hand towels folded in the shape of fleur de lys, for crying out loud. Not scratchy paper towels or those noisy jet dryers that make your skin look wobbly but FLEURS DE LYS!!! And the maids actually wore maid outfits! Like the kind you see on Halloween or in adult novelty stores with the little hat and the little apron. Now, even though we were staying there, the sheer decadence was making us feel a little po' so we decided to up the anty by ordering room service. I had the porterhouse steak with something and I can't remember what she had and I think I had some sort of chocolate something or other and she had creme brulee... it's been a while. But I do remember that it was good and expensive and that the pats of butter were shaped into little shells and they gave you a little basket of bread that had a white roll, a wheat roll, what I believe to be pumpkin spice bread, zucchini bread, and a corn muffin. A veritable carbohydrate cornucopia! I love this hotel and I suggest that, if you ever decide to stay here, book it through Priceline 'cause it only cost us $90 a night.
