i give these guys 20 stars. they moved all of my annoying and excessive belongings today from a second floor apartment to a third floor apartment in three hours flat. they arrived on time at 9am (i fear 9am, i cannot wake up this early, and was barely ready when they got to my house) and got right to work. i was surprised at how careful and polite they were...if i had to move someone at 9am, i don't think i'd be so cheerful. also, they were really careful with my guitars (maybe even more careful than i am) which i really appreciated. i was so happy with them that i wanted to buy them beers after they finished the job, but it was only noon and i didn't want to seem like a derelict.

You ever have a plan not turn out quite the way that you want it to?  One of my office locations was being renovated and I called some Joe-schmoe to come and move all the furniture and everything.  Needless to say, not everything was taken away like it should have been (and I guess that's what I get for hiring a schmoe to do the work).

So it's Friday at noon, and I have an office full of stuff that I need moved before Monday when the construction starts.  A quick check of the Yelp got me to Intelligent Labor.  After Zeke told me he could have people out the next day (a SATURDAY) to do the work, it almost didn't matter to me what the price was, but he did give me a detailed quote.

The crew arrived on-time and ready to go (Paul and Ricky - they were great!).  They treated everything with care, were quick and efficient, and explained everything they were doing to take care of my stuff.  At the end of the job, the quote was spot-on what Zeke told me on the phone, so obviously the guy knows what he's doing and has done it a lot.

The moral of the story?  Don't hire a schmoe.  Hire Intelligent Labor, and they'll get the job done for you the right way, right away.  Five stars all around, this company is awesome!!

Since everyone here is writing wonderful reviews, I decided to call these guys up and give it a try but... maybe moving department and labor department are separate?  Or maybe it's a new guy who doesn't know what's going on.  I don't know what's going on, but I got no quote after 3 weeks, despite my reminders over the phone (twice!).

At the very beginning, everything went well, they came for an estimate.  Then this guy Paul who came to do an estimate said he would send me a quote by e-mail.  Then after he had gone, I realized he cannot email me because he does not know my email.  So I called the number up and left a message with my e-mail and telephone number.  I also said my condo is waiting, so I need the quote quick.

I call this guy again, asking for quote, then he said, "Oh sorry I haven't gotten around to it, yeah I got your message so I have your e-mail address.  I'll get to it right away."

It's been 3 weeks now.  No e-mail, no phone call, nothing. No quotes.  That's not very professional.

Twenty reviews (now 21) and all of them five-stars--that should tell you enough right there.  We had this huge pallet of flooring delivered to our branch that in the strange machinations of business dealings, Fedex Freight would only deliver to the curbside.  None of us being of the frame to carry 2000 lbs of oddly shaped packaging into the branch, we had to hire a mover.  Paul from Intelligent Labor came by and for a mere $55 moved that 2000 lbs from the curb to the back of our store.

Even though our interaction was brief, we were all really impressed by him.  First, he called ahead to confirm the time, the type of labor needed, and to ask about parking.  So smart!  (Indeed, so *intelligent.*)  So many people have complained bitterly to us about not being able to find a spot or getting a ticket.  Not these guys--they thought ahead, bless their hearts.

When Paul got here, he was well-mannered, articulate, and fast.  He got the job done in ten minutes flat and was out of here.  My co-worker commented that the moniker "Intelligent" is warranted--these guys are incredibly professional, thoughtful, and efficient.

I've moved nearly 20 times in 15 years in Boston and these guys were hands-down the best. From providing an accurate quote and following up on scheduling, to efficient and careful packing and unloading, the Intelligent Labor crew truly lives up to their name and outstanding reputation.

Paul and Vinny went above and beyond to help us move tricky pieces that others would have given up on, or charged way extra.

Hopefully, we stay put in our new place for awhile, but when we do decide to pack up again, you can bet we'll be calling Intelligent Labor to help.

I recommend them highly, and thank them profusely.

I hired Intelligent Labor to move my family of four from a 3rd story condo in Cambridge to a house in Belmont, and they did an amazing job! They stay in touch really well and brought their own truck to the job. They even stored my stuff overnight and delivered it the next day!

Ezekiel and his team are really professional, personable and a lot of fun. They were literally running up and down the stairs with our stuff, and really hustling almost the whole time; you don't see that a lot with most moving companies. They did everything I asked, moving a refrigerator plus a washer and dryer, and were really careful with furniture and everything - nothing broken.

I highly recommend these guys. They don't charge nearly as much as some of the big companies, but they do great work. Efficient, helpful, brought all the necessary tools, cheerful - a wonderful experience (for a move).

My father suggested I find a mover on Craig's list instead of my usual tactic of conning a collection of brothers, ex boyfriends, and random people who happen to own trucks to help move. Instead of trusting my belongings to folks found on Craig's list, I went ahead and checked good ol' http://yelp.com and found Intelligent Labor and Moving.

These guys are great! They arrived on time and moved me from Dorchester to Cambridge in about three hours. They were extremely friendly and patient. Every five minutes they had to deal with me or my dad going, "please, please, please if you have room on the truck can you add this tiny box?" and never failed to remind us, yet again, that there was plenty of room on the truck. They rearranged my room about 3 times (because I am that annoying) with a smile.  They were very reasonable and gracious! I would definitely reccomend them!

These guys almost made moving bearable.
I can't believe how hard they work and how quickly they move, they totally went above and beyond. if I were going to move again (which I'm not planning to do for a long time) I would totally use them again.
The price was also impressive.
Moving? Call them now!

These guys showed up early, and finished quickly, often running between the truck and the house.

A move to a 3rd story apartment took less than 3 hours.  I would definitely suggest them, and also, they were extremely nice, and polite, and conscientious about your stuff.

I hate moving, and let me tell you, hiring movers like Intelligent Design make it so much better.

Jayson and Rob were awesome!

Also, Ezekiel was great in getting back to me early about an estimate and scheduling the move...I'd definitely use these guys again.

quick, professional, and priced right. smoothest move i have ever had, and they even put the bed together.

dealing with ezekiel is far more enjoyable than dealing with any other moving company in the city. i'm impressed with the quality of their service, and with how amazingly fast they work. they took better care of my stuff than i do!

Everything about this place seems to add up to what NOT to do.  According to every moving site you need to get DOT numbers and all this jazz to really be sure you're safe.  However, I was desperately looking for a mover to get me and my apartment from Albany, NY to Cambridge.  No one but Intelligent Moving was willing to take on the job (distance, small apartment, etc.).   They did not have a DOT number that they could give me but had several positive references so I just went with it.  My stuff wasn't worth THAT much anyway.  Best decision I ever made!!

They gave me a great price considering the distance and even rounded the labor down a bit.  Even better, Zeke and the other person who came (I forgot his name...sorry!) were extremely friendly and moved swiftly packing everything.  Prices are low they rent trucks for each move so be specific in your specs (I sent pictures) to be sure that they can get the right truck.  Honestly, they know what they are doing so you will have enough space.

I had everything ready to go.  Zeke called me to confirm they were on their way and at various points along his trip so I could keep a time schedule of when they would arrive in comparison to the set time they were supposed to come.  They were on time (and even beat me to Cambridge).

The process was smooth.  They did the same great work for me as they apparently did for Justine D. (see her review).    Once all of my things were in the new place, they even made sure that everything was where I would want it and that I was happy.  It was fun because we made conversation while packing/moving, but not so much that the process was slowed down.

Anyway, I am moving again at the end of August and will definitely use them again.  Five stars sums it up for sure.

Edit:  They rented trucks for my move because it was inter-state.  For others they have their own trucks.  Regardless, they are already booked for my upcoming move at the end of the month!

I owe it to these guys to write a stellar review -- they are AWESOME.

I had boxes and furniture in several locations in and around Boston, and had to move it all on September 2nd. They did it alllll, including disassembling/reassembling a bed, in 3 hours.  And they were very careful so as not to damage anything.

Their hourly rate was $120, much cheaper than the other, bigger companies. They have their own truck. I got to ride with. All good fun.

The only negative thing about the whole day was receiving a ticket for double-parking.... but that was just a combination of bad luck and having no space because it was September 2nd.

Overall, highly recommended!

Moved from a 2-bedroom condo to a single family house.  These guys were punctual, efficient and careful.  We hired one-man for packing the day before the move and a 3-man crew for the day of the move.  Their estimate was very good---well within the range they quote.  They worked the entire time they were on the job---no extended calls and only a 15 minute lunch break.  Definitely would hire again.  We felt like we got solid value for the money.

These guys helped me move with astounding speed and grace. Everything arrived in the new location in perfect condition. And they are intelligent! We had some good conversations during the process.

Bottom line: Intelligent Labor & Moving will provide the best, fastest service at a competitive price. Your property will be undamaged, you will not have to worry about theft. There is no reason to use any other service in the Boston area.

These guys saved my sanity this weekend.  I had a 26-foot truck full of my stuff, a 3rd floor walk-up condo, and a sofa that, as it turned out, did not want to go in my front door.  I called Intelligent Labor to get our stuff from the truck to the condo, and man did they get the job done.  First of all, they were early (*I* was the late one, who knew how much fun it was driving a moving truck through Harvard Square).  Secondly, they were unfailingly polite, enthusiastic, and energetic.  Third, they got my couch in *through the third-floor window*.  The guys took great care of all my stuff, even noticing fragile items that I had forgotten about.  I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody who needed to move.

Vinny and Robby were great.  They were thorough and fast.  They took apart my Ikea bed and reassembled it in no time.  In 5 hours, they had one bedroom plus worth of stuff moved from Allston to Newton.  They clearly wasted no time.

I was moving from Cambridge to Fall River, so I did some price shopping on the different moving companies in Cambridge and while most were charging about $175-185 / hour (during peak moving time), Intelligent Labor was only charging about $110 / hour (again, during peak moving time).  The owner, Zek, was extremely personable when I was booking which reaffirmed it for me as service is extremely important to me.  All of the other reviews are correct --- both of the movers were fantastic (although they drove *really* slow to Fall River, which we made fun of them for).  :)  Safety, Zek says, safety...

They were careful and when things didn't go as planned (e.g., armoire couldn't fit down the stairs and the box spring couldn't fit up the stairs to the new place), Zek had a list of options.

I would absolutely refer them to anyone and they would be the first I would call again.

One thing you should know is that they only accept cash or check.

moving sucks - lots.  but my recent experience sucked quite a bit less, and here's why: i packed it up, but hired vinnie and rob from intelligent to move the contents of my one bedroom apartment.

ezekiel was kind enough to call me the evening before to confirm that everything was all set.  i know it's OCD of me, but i really appreciated it.

vinnie & rob were:
- on time
- pleasant & clean
- quick like bunnies
- careful & efficient

my entire move:
- was as painless as possible
- came in right at the lowest end of the estimate
- was done at a better rate hourly rate than other reputable movers

nothing broken, nothing dented, bank account not empty (well, not because of them at least).  if my mom was moving, i'd trust these dudes to move her stuff.

I was never that good at maths in high school. So when I added up the elements of moving with no moving permits (left it a little too late to order them) 3 x sofas + 1 x bed +  TV + 1 x coffee table + 1 x air conditioner in one morning . .  well, it didn't seem like anything good.

Enter Intelligent Labor and Moving - these guys are amazing!!

1. They showed up early

2. They pretty much had everything wrapped and in the truck in an hour.

3. They were pleasant, friendly and didn't waste time.

4. They managed to move everything from old apartment to new apartment without permits and only had to move their truck once to let a neighbor out.

5. They were VERY reasonable

6. Nothing was broken, dirty, or damaged.

7. I wish I could come up with other reasons, but that's pretty much all that's involved in moving.

Could not recommend these guys more!!

These guys helped me move furniture into my office - and were amazing.  Ezekiel is the owner and he hires others to work with him for the jobs.  They did a top notch job from start to finish.  We set the date and time and then on the morning of the move he called me and let me know he was on the way and would be there for the time we had set.  Then they very efficiently and carefully shrink-wrapped many of my pieces of furniture and moved them onto the truck, and out on the other side into my new office.  Most items were able to go on the elevator up - but they also did end up carrying my couch up the stairs to the 4th floor - with a smile!  They were careful - nothing broke or was damaged - they are very experienced, trustworthy and friendly.  I highly recommend them!!!

These guys are absolutely awesome. They helped us move from Somerville to Watertown just before September 1st.

They were amazingly fast. My girlfriend and I had a reasonably-sized apartment for two, and they were in and out in three hours. That means they showed up at 9 am in Somerville and all of our stuff was correctly arranged in our Watertown apartment just before noon.

The move involved a very steep and narrow staircase with a  tricky 90-degree turn. This was no problem for them, and I still don't understand how a 7-foot sofa fit through there. None of the furniture was scratched, including a large aquarium with a specially coated glass surface that is especially prone to scratching.

I'm very happy with my experience, and I know that I won't have to shop around the next time I move.

i'm justine's sister and stuff.  my parents had me get zeek and well.. i had to move not once but twice due to disasters that were far beyond me and nothing to do with zeek.  the intelligent people that helped me during both moves were awesome.  everything was fairly quick and easy, and also they did stuff like use shrink wrap which made me more comfy with the fact that my gorgeous ikea furniture would not get damaged.  the thing that i like most is that well.. i've only ever moved solo before and it took me forever. this is like.. you're in, you're out, they do a good a job, you pay the money and according to my mom, you feel like a mensch. these guys get an a+ for effort!  you are my heroes!

I just moved from a storage unit in Somerville to a 1br in Cambridge. Ezekiel and John were awesome. These guys are affordable, friendly, fast, and competent. They had me all moved in 2.5 hours and took extra care with my things. Not a single thing was scratched or damaged and they came exactly on time even though I asked them to start at the early hour of 8am. I would definitely recommend them!
