Paul and Mit were amazing!  I have moved a number of times, and I have had movers for about half of the moves in my life, but these guys were the best by far!  I have seen the company's truck around Harvard Sq. a lot and then I saw that Yelpers have been showing them love, so I gave it a shot.  I am so glad I did.

I was moving a one bedroom apartment with a number of un-boxable electronics and over-sized furniture.  They took great care of everything and moved it incredibly fast.  I still had the whole day to unpack... that is another story.

Instruments, flat screens, computers, sofas, end tables... all transported without a scratch and not one mark on the walls of either apartment.

Also, the guys were just pretty damn cool! That does count for something when your moving as it is generally a stressful situation.  This time it was far from stressful.

Basically, I am saying - Use these guys!!!

We had a horrible experience with Intelligent Labor when moving from Arlington to Belmont. They charged us for their lunch hour, 30 minutes 'driving time' (when the trip was under 10 minutes), their smoking breaks, and the trip back to Cambridge. They told us we were lucky to have the team of 3 and gigantic truck (more than we needed or had asked for) for the whole day-- since they had a cancellation for the afternoon, we wouldn't be "rushed". In fact, they tried to extend our move for as long-- and expensive-- as possible.

Our final bill (which we were shocked enough to pay without challenging-- our bad) was triple the highest estimate they provided before the fact. We had one couch, one bed, one table, one small television, and boxes (that were already packed-- most professionally, since we had recently moved from California). This wasn't a complicated move-- we didn't have any appliances, a piano or anything out of the ordinary. They also broke our storm door.

It seemed like the lead mover's job was simply to rearrange things in the truck-- he never carried a single thing in or out. Instead of placing all of our bedroom, living room, and kitchen boxes together, he moved everything apart so that he would have to spend extra time once they got to the final destination.

We moved on a weekend, and perhaps the team has a minimum amount they must charge for a weekend day? We felt incredibly ripped off and taken advantage of.

I'm sorry, but 1) about the damage: it was apparent to the movers right away, as they were moving the dresser in.  The person in charge at the site (Zeke?) told me to just buy some glue. 2) the original estimate included a trip from Cambridge to Norwood in order to get a heavy treadmill in. To be at the lower end of the original estimate when a very large part of the move did not happen is just not a reason for pride.

I was moving in-town and was really asking myself if it was going to be worth hiring movers... Now I know and I'll be calling these guys if I ever need anything moved for any reason.  Already referred them to all my friends.  These guys were phenomenal- fast, friendly, efficient, and thoughtful.  Thoroughly professional.  I haven't written a Yelp review in a long time, but these guys deserve a comeback and all five stars.

My father suggested I find a mover on Craig's list instead of my usual tactic of conning a collection of brothers, ex boyfriends, and random people who happen to own trucks to help move. Instead of trusting my belongings to folks found on Craig's list, I went ahead and checked good ol' http://yelp.com and found Intelligent Labor and Moving.

These guys are great! They arrived on time and moved me from Dorchester to Cambridge in about three hours. They were extremely friendly and patient. Every five minutes they had to deal with me or my dad going, "please, please, please if you have room on the truck can you add this tiny box?" and never failed to remind us, yet again, that there was plenty of room on the truck. They rearranged my room about 3 times (because I am that annoying) with a smile.  They were very reasonable and gracious! I would definitely reccomend them!

Since my original review I have used Zeke and his Intelligent Labor & Moving crew two more times and therefore they deserve an update since they did a BANG UP JOB both times.  They have not only gotten me from the hell hole of a city that I previously lived in to the wonderful Cambridge, MA (review #1, below) but from Cambridge to Somerville to move in with my great roommate (this was over a year ago) and more recently to move my "Albany couch" from the garage at my place into the house (tiny, but necessary job).

With two additional jobs under their belt for me, I think they deserve another five stars.

Here's the summation that make moving ANYTHING big (all your stuff), small (a couch), in between (you name it) with these guys a great idea:

*They are courteous and you don't have to be nervous about them handling your valuables.  In fact, whoever comes to do your job will probably end up being more careful with your stuff than you are.

    *They are prompt.

*They are, in fact, INTELLIGENT.  Every lift, turn, and move is deliberate to get your stuff in and out of where it is going in stellar condition.  Each move I have had done involved an awkward flight of stairs and while I stumbled down them without carrying anything bulky, these guys seem to get everything wrapped and down the stairs near effortlessly...and quickly.

*They are reasonable.  Moving is costly, but they will not rip you off and work extremely hard for what you pay for.  I am beyond happy to pay for Zeke and his crew's services and I hate paying for stuff.

The day I have to move again, this is the first place I am calling.

Since everyone here is writing wonderful reviews, I decided to call these guys up and give it a try but... maybe moving department and labor department are separate?  Or maybe it's a new guy who doesn't know what's going on.  I don't know what's going on, but I got no quote after 3 weeks, despite my reminders over the phone (twice!).

At the very beginning, everything went well, they came for an estimate.  Then this guy Paul who came to do an estimate said he would send me a quote by e-mail.  Then after he had gone, I realized he cannot email me because he does not know my email.  So I called the number up and left a message with my e-mail and telephone number.  I also said my condo is waiting, so I need the quote quick.

I call this guy again, asking for quote, then he said, "Oh sorry I haven't gotten around to it, yeah I got your message so I have your e-mail address.  I'll get to it right away."

It's been 3 weeks now.  No e-mail, no phone call, nothing. No quotes.  That's not very professional.

You ever have a plan not turn out quite the way that you want it to?  One of my office locations was being renovated and I called some Joe-schmoe to come and move all the furniture and everything.  Needless to say, not everything was taken away like it should have been (and I guess that's what I get for hiring a schmoe to do the work).

So it's Friday at noon, and I have an office full of stuff that I need moved before Monday when the construction starts.  A quick check of the Yelp got me to Intelligent Labor.  After Zeke told me he could have people out the next day (a SATURDAY) to do the work, it almost didn't matter to me what the price was, but he did give me a detailed quote.

The crew arrived on-time and ready to go (Paul and Ricky - they were great!).  They treated everything with care, were quick and efficient, and explained everything they were doing to take care of my stuff.  At the end of the job, the quote was spot-on what Zeke told me on the phone, so obviously the guy knows what he's doing and has done it a lot.

The moral of the story?  Don't hire a schmoe.  Hire Intelligent Labor, and they'll get the job done for you the right way, right away.  Five stars all around, this company is awesome!!

I hired Intelligent Labor to move my family of four from a 3rd story condo in Cambridge to a house in Belmont, and they did an amazing job! They stay in touch really well and brought their own truck to the job. They even stored my stuff overnight and delivered it the next day!

Ezekiel and his team are really professional, personable and a lot of fun. They were literally running up and down the stairs with our stuff, and really hustling almost the whole time; you don't see that a lot with most moving companies. They did everything I asked, moving a refrigerator plus a washer and dryer, and were really careful with furniture and everything - nothing broken.

I highly recommend these guys. They don't charge nearly as much as some of the big companies, but they do great work. Efficient, helpful, brought all the necessary tools, cheerful - a wonderful experience (for a move).

    These guys rule.

I had boxes and furniture in several locations in and around Boston, and had to move it all on September 2nd. They did it alllll, including disassembling/reassembling a bed, in 3 hours.  And they were very careful so as not to damage anything.

Their hourly rate was $120, much cheaper than the other, bigger companies. They have their own truck. I got to ride with. All good fun.

The only negative thing about the whole day was receiving a ticket for double-parking.... but that was just a combination of bad luck and having no space because it was September 2nd.

    Overall, highly recommended!

The owner of this company is a stand-up guy. Not only is he professional, personable, reasonable, but also unbelievably kind. The manager, Stacy, was a great help and the workers they sent were so professional.
To put it simply: great service, great price, worth it.
Ps On a personal note: the workers are definitely not eyesores by any means.

Twenty reviews (now 21) and all of them five-stars--that should tell you enough right there.  We had this huge pallet of flooring delivered to our branch that in the strange machinations of business dealings, Fedex Freight would only deliver to the curbside.  None of us being of the frame to carry 2000 lbs of oddly shaped packaging into the branch, we had to hire a mover.  Paul from Intelligent Labor came by and for a mere $55 moved that 2000 lbs from the curb to the back of our store.

Even though our interaction was brief, we were all really impressed by him.  First, he called ahead to confirm the time, the type of labor needed, and to ask about parking.  So smart!  (Indeed, so *intelligent.*)  So many people have complained bitterly to us about not being able to find a spot or getting a ticket.  Not these guys--they thought ahead, bless their hearts.

When Paul got here, he was well-mannered, articulate, and fast.  He got the job done in ten minutes flat and was out of here.  My co-worker commented that the moniker "Intelligent" is warranted--these guys are incredibly professional, thoughtful, and efficient.

These guys showed up early, and finished quickly, often running between the truck and the house.

A move to a 3rd story apartment took less than 3 hours.  I would definitely suggest them, and also, they were extremely nice, and polite, and conscientious about your stuff.

I hate moving, and let me tell you, hiring movers like Intelligent Design make it so much better.

    Jayson and Rob were awesome!

Also, Ezekiel was great in getting back to me early about an estimate and scheduling the move...I'd definitely use these guys again.

As painless as moving on September 1st could possibly be. :)  Communication was quick + clear before the move, their estimate was broken down into time estimates per part (driving/packing/unpacking) and we wound up on the low end. (Check out their blog before you pack! It's super useful.) The three guys who handled our move were careful, pleasant, quick but thorough, and clearly knew what they were doing. They disassembled and re-assembled beds, wrapped dressers and couches so that they arrived clean and scratchless, and handled some extra-heavy boxes with competence and a sense of humor. They took great care of our stuff; next time I have to move I'll definitely be calling Intelligent Labor again.

After comparing Yelp reviews, I contacted IL&M to see if they could help me move from one 2nd-floor apartment in Somerville to another 2nd-floor apartment across town.

Loved everything about my experience with these guys.  They answered all of my preliminary email questions to my complete satisfaction, and with professional courtesy and warmth.  They quoted me a price and came in way under that, they showed up on time, and the two guys who showed up, Vinnie and Jesse, were awesome to work with.  They explained their methods, and they listened to my explanations of what I wanted to see done and how I hoped things would go.  For the more difficult items (one loveseat in particular comes to mind), they did a great job planning and executing some narrow passages.  They brought a lot of hustle to their game, and that is great to see when you're paying by the hour!

From initial contact to the conclusion of the transaction, Intelligent Labor worked hard to make me a happy and satisfied customer. I'd give them more than five stars if I could!

I went with Intelligent Labor for my recent move based on all of the positive Yelp reviews I read - and they were all spot on! The movers were on time, friendly, responsible, efficient, and came in under even the low range of their estimate. Who knew two guys could move so much stuff in so little time? This was the least stressful move I have ever had, by an order of magnitude. I was so happy after the move I wanted to tell strangers on the street corner. These guys are for real.

This was my first time using a moving company and I am so happy I hired Intelligent Movers. I moved from Cambridge to a 6th floor apt in Boston, which is why I didn't think I could move my stuff with friends. They gave a reasonable quote and the total was at the lowest end of the price range. They were fast, careful with my stuff and really nice guys. It was worth the money to have my move be so quick and stress free.

moving sucks - lots.  but my recent experience sucked quite a bit less, and here's why: i packed it up, but hired vinnie and rob from intelligent to move the contents of my one bedroom apartment.

ezekiel was kind enough to call me the evening before to confirm that everything was all set.  i know it's OCD of me, but i really appreciated it.

    vinnie & rob were:
    - on time
    - pleasant & clean
    - quick like bunnies
    - careful & efficient

    my entire move:
    - was as painless as possible
    - came in right at the lowest end of the estimate
    - was done at a better rate hourly rate than other reputable movers

nothing broken, nothing dented, bank account not empty (well, not because of them at least).  if my mom was moving, i'd trust these dudes to move her stuff.

I was never that good at maths in high school. So when I added up the elements of moving with no moving permits (left it a little too late to order them) 3 x sofas + 1 x bed +  TV + 1 x coffee table + 1 x air conditioner in one morning . .  well, it didn't seem like anything good.

Enter Intelligent Labor and Moving - these guys are amazing!!

    1. They showed up early

    2. They pretty much had everything wrapped and in the truck in an hour.

    3. They were pleasant, friendly and didn't waste time.

    4. They managed to move everything from old apartment to new apartment without permits and only had to move their truck once to let a neighbor out.

    5. They were VERY reasonable

    6. Nothing was broken, dirty, or damaged.

    7. I wish I could come up with other reasons, but that's pretty much all that's involved in moving.

Could not recommend these guys more!!

I had a great experience with Intelligent Labor!  From the first contact (via email), the owner, Ezekiel, got back to me quickly with an estimate.  Paul and Vinnie were my movers, and they did a fantastic job.  They were personable and easygoing, but also very fast and efficient.  It was clear they knew exactly what they were doing.  From deciding which stuff to move first, to making sure they knew what was mine versus my roommate's (who was not moving), to wrapping furniture, disassembling and reassembling furniture, fitting everything into the truck quickly and painlessly, and putting things in their proper place in the new apartment, these guys were incredibly precise and again, fast!  They finished a job that would have taken me and my friends at least 8 hours in 4, and I ended up paying the low end of the estimated range.  They made sure they did everything they could to help me before leaving, and they reminded me to keep my receipt because one move per year is tax deductible in MA.  Professional, friendly, and completely competent.  I would recommend them or use them again in a heartbeat.

These guys helped me move furniture into my office - and were amazing.  Ezekiel is the owner and he hires others to work with him for the jobs.  They did a top notch job from start to finish.  We set the date and time and then on the morning of the move he called me and let me know he was on the way and would be there for the time we had set.  Then they very efficiently and carefully shrink-wrapped many of my pieces of furniture and moved them onto the truck, and out on the other side into my new office.  Most items were able to go on the elevator up - but they also did end up carrying my couch up the stairs to the 4th floor - with a smile!  They were careful - nothing broke or was damaged - they are very experienced, trustworthy and friendly.  I highly recommend them!!!

I've never reviewed anything on here before, but I had such a good experience with this company that I thought I should take the plunge.  Everyone I dealt with was helpful.  The movers called ahead to tell me that they were running late for pickup.  Also, these people really knew what they were doing.  It was pouring the day I moved, but the movers wrapped everything well and it all stayed dry.  They volunteered to assemble and rearrange my furniture once we arrived at the new place.  The pricing seemed very reasonable.

I hired IL&M after reading the great yelp reviews, and they more than lived up to my expectations!  Careful, efficient and nice - it's a great combination.  I'd call them again in a heartbeat (though I hope I don't have to any time soon...).

i give these guys 20 stars. they moved all of my annoying and excessive belongings today from a second floor apartment to a third floor apartment in three hours flat. they arrived on time at 9am (i fear 9am, i cannot wake up this early, and was barely ready when they got to my house) and got right to work. i was surprised at how careful and polite they were...if i had to move someone at 9am, i don't think i'd be so cheerful. also, they were really careful with my guitars (maybe even more careful than i am) which i really appreciated. i was so happy with them that i wanted to buy them beers after they finished the job, but it was only noon and i didn't want to seem like a derelict.
