It's definitely not a rigorous academic program by any means, but that's not really the school's intention. It's very different from traditional dietetics, but that's what appealed to me.

If you already have a good foundation in the health and wellness field, and want to expand your business, this school will be a great choice. If you want to live a healthier life for you and your family, this school will be a great choice.

If you are looking for a traditional dietetics program with a hard science background and adherence to the food pyramid, a conventional degree and a traditional nutrition career, then you will definitely be disappointed.

It's all in what you're looking for and how you intend to organize your career.

WARNING IIN PAYS THEIR STUDENTS IF THEY BRING IN NEW STUDENTS (uh, what *real* college does this?) So of course they're going to say it's a good school. They get paid to say so. Also they are NOT accredited so your degree and 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee. My friend paid extra for the Columbia program (which Columbia quickly cut off all ties with IIN once they saw the light) People, don't waste your money. I wish I'd never heard of IIN. My better half did a speech there (a doctor) and they canceled his check before he could deposit it. BAD BAD news. buyer beware. Read the non five star reviews from people with guts not trying to make money and enroll you! (Yes, past students get paid if you sign up under them- almost as bad as an MLM scam!)

I was initially interested in attending this school around this time last year. So I contacted the school and within a couple of days I was contacted by one of their admissions salespeople. I say salespeople because the whole tone of the call with the woman was on how I needed to sign-up now in order to "lock-in" the current tuition rate. What kind of school talks about locking-in tuition rates??

After a few more minutes, I felt even more uncomfortable and felt like all she was trying to do was sell me something and not really addressing some serious questions I had about the school (like, are there any science classes? to which she responded, "our students come away with knowledge of all the major types of diets" blah blah blah which was obviously an indication that no science classes were taught). I think she tried calling me the next day and I just didn't pick up the phone.

I cut the phone call short. And for the next few weeks IIN proceeded to send me daily emails trying to get me to enroll. The whole process was very pushy and I felt like they were trying to rush me to enroll.

Ultimately, I am 100% happy that I listened to my intuition which was screaming "don't do it!"

Ok, so apparently this place just can't be captured by a score.  I change my rating from 4 to 5 and now to 3.  Not because it's bad, but bc at different points in my relationship with IIN I understood it in different ways.

The 5 was given while I was actively in their program, swept up into the whirlwind of amazing energy and motivation, the joy of getting to hear a different brilliant speaker each weekend, the sheer pleasure of being surrounded by people who want to make a difference.   How could that not get a 5?!

But now, several years later, I recognize that in many ways their approach is limited.  It leads people to believe that they are prepared to become health-care practitioners, when in fact they are not (or perhaps its more accurate to say that only some are).  And it focuses on marketing and spreading its own gospel in a pyramid scheme sort of way.

If you're looking to help yourself and/or your family make healthier choices, and can afford something like this, then it's an incredible experience!  If you're looking to build a business out of it, it may be a little tougher.  Of the many many wonderful people I know from the program who graduated with every intention of making Health Counseling a full time job (including several with office space, professional relats with chiros and doctors, etc.) only a handful have succeeded.

It's a great program and part of a great movement, but it's not exactly what it presents itself to be...

There's something quite fishy about this "school."

I had first become interested in this program several years ago, but was just out of college and not making much, so the high tuition cost deterred me.

Years later, I still don't know what to do with my life and revisiting learning about holistic health and nutrition. IIN seems to cover all the stuff I want to learn about, and there's no other program out there that covers all the topics they do (although it seems to not be very in-depth). So I did some research, joined one of their webinars (useless, full of scripted salesy anecdotes from so-called former students), and emailed them to find out more information.

Now I was very much interested in this program at one point, but here were some items that raised a red flag for me:
-They're based in NYC. So I emailed them asking if I could make an  appointment to speak with an admissions person to find out more. They responded that there's no one I could speak with in person, but would be glad to speak on phone or email. (Whaat? You have an office in the city, yet there's no one I could speak to in person, no open hours I could visit?)
-They used to offer weekly classes in NYC that included some notable lecturers. Now it is a 100% distance-learning program, so it seems they've cut down on some of their services.
-The program seems to mostly consist of pre-recorded lessons loaded onto an iPod, along with paper and online materials.
-Nearly every review on Yelp is screaming 5 stars. Those who don't give them a glowing recommendation get a response from their staff in the comments. If you click on "(Filtered)" at the bottom left of the page below, you will find even more glowing 5-star reviews, mostly from users who only have one Yelp review. They also all make sure to mention their personal website to try to solicit clients for their "health coach" business.

Yeah, there's enough weirdness with this school that I definitely will not take any part of. Plus, I took a listen to a few samples of their lectures and there was nothing of substance there. I don't need to pay them $5K for stuff I can learn about from the library.

If you feel like a transformation of your whole being, and if you're ready to be immersed into a optimistic, upbeat, hippie-alternative-like environment, (and give your neighbors massages, dance and jump with joy when you hear names like Andrew Weil and Joseph Mercola) this school is for you.

For what it is, a professional training program in health counseling, it's excellent... plus all the goodies and extras they throw in, it just can't be beat.

If only I could go to this school and get a Masters instead of a certificate... hmm... a girl can dream...

I graduated from IIN's main program in summer 2008. It was really everything they said it would be. I made some of the closest friends I have. It changed my relationships. It changed my health. And it certainly changed my career.

I have had my own successful health counseling business for 2 years now. I'm now expanding into corporate wellness and feel completely prepared having gone through the program. I have never seen such dedication on EVERY level of the staff. Almost the entire staff is made of graduates. These are people who truly and deeply care about wellbeing.

It's a fantastic, unique approach that is also very effective.

Less than a year ago I was hating my job as an art director, working in advertising.

Today, I am loving my career as a holistic health counselor. Really, do I need to say anything else??

Of course I do, this is a Yelp review. Ok. So the big thing everyone worries about with a school like IIN is "Is it legit?" And I wondered the same thing. I mean, there are lots of sketchy websites out there happy to take your money and promise you career changes, right?

Well I'm happy to report that IIN is 100% legit, and actually has some of the best student service that I've ever encountered. WAAAAY better than when I was in undergrad at Northeastern University.

Anyway, it's an amazing school. I learned a ton about nutrition and eating whole, real foods. I also learned tons about starting my own business and marketing my services. THAT is something no other nutrition school offers.

Today I have a roster full of clients, a successful group class going, and lots of workshops going on all the time. IIN gave me everything I needed to get started, and continues to help me post-graduation. It's a wonderful community.

I'm happy to tell you more, just email me at michelle@findyourbalance health

A life changing experience and curriculum.
I studied here long, long ago with Josh when it was called Gulliver's Institute.

The program continues to grow and evolve.  It's one of the best investments you can ever make in yourself.

The face and framework for health care is changing. The Institute of Integrative Nutrition is leading this charge. The Institute of Integrative Nutrition offers the most well-rounded curriculum in nutrition with the most well known experts in the world today.

As a 2005 graduate, I have both used the information gained from the IIN program to completely change my health and create Dallas' first truly integrative medical/nutritional clinic. I completely switched gears from a corporate job that was financially rewarding but soul-stealing for me. IIN filled all of my requirements - great education, business training and real actionable education I could use immediately.

The education I received at IIN was instrumental in giving me, first, the knowledge to help others improve their health; second, the key business methods and ideas that are the cornerstones of Living Well Dallas, Inc. - my dream realized.

Also, I now have friends from all over the world that I never would have met without attending IIN. Through the professional training program and Immersion, I expanded my circle of friends to people I still today enjoy vacations with and weekend getaways.

Don't pass up this life-changing opportunity!

The 600 extra spent for the now defunct program with Columbia is a scam. Also the bad reviews seem to disappear. Of COURSE users are going to say they like it because (YES call the school and ask- IIN PAYS it's former students if they bring in new people!) waste of money and sorry I was ever involved with these people. Also a dear close friend spoke there and they canceled his check before he could deposit it. Shady and NON ACCREDITED! FIND AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL!

I came to Integrative Nutrition to learn about coaching people around food, and help unearth something within me.  I knew there were parts of me that were undiscovered when it came to career and purpose, and I felt IIN would  help guide me towards a life of purpose and integrity.

Attending the school exceeded those expectations. When I came I thought I knew what there was to know about eating well and taking care of myself,  but before I knew it, I was learning things about myself I never knew were there, and also ways to create a business for myself as a holistic health coach.

Integrative Nutrition is the only school I know of that incorporates all the dietary theories and ways to incorporate that in to a business that generates income.

And who knew Dr. Mark Hyman, Deepak Chopra, and Walter Willet could be such rockstars?!

It was the best investment I've ever made.
