Insomnia Cookies- what a genius idea. Their cookies are DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR! hot and delicious!- in about 2 hours.
My experience with Insomnia Cookies while in college usually involved their tagline "Baked on Campus". Someone would get the idea that we should order cookies after some late-night fun- the kind of fun that makes you really hungry. However, on more than one occassion, friends would get burnt out and head home before the cookies even got there. It's seriously a better, faster and cheaper idea to just go to 711 and get a roll of cookie dough and make it yourself.
But I can't hate on them too much, just because of the novelty of it. I still gave them 4 stars because the cookies are yummy and they really are hot and gooey when you get them. Plus, it's probably been about three years since I've ordered from them and I can only hope they've stepped up their delivery time.
They deliver cookies. They deliver warm, delicious cookies. They deliver warm, delicious cookies until 2:30am.
HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY NOT LIKE INSOMNIA COOKIES?!?!?
Apparently some of my esteemed fellow Yelpers have had a few issues with delivery time. I've encountered no such problem. Just the other day I ordered three gigantic s'mores cookies on Campusfood... They were delivered just 30 minutes later, still hot. Furthermore, they tasted incredible. I ate so much that I made myself sick. Then I ate so much for breakfast the following morning that I made myself sick again. It was worth it.
While the idea of paying at least $6 to have brownies delivered to my house would normally be horrifying to me, yesterday, at 9:30pm after a long day of moving and spicy food, brownies and milk seemed like a fantastic idea. I originally ordered a brownie with a Snickers topping and my boyfriend ordered a double chocolate chunk cookie. However, that didn't meet the $6 delivery minimum. Okay, that makes sense--the products themselves aren't THAT highly priced, so you should at least make it worth their while. We added a peanut butter chip brownie, some milk, and sat back, looking forward to a late night treat, and waited.
And waited.
Little did we know how late night it would end up being!
Although the campusfood order said that the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes, which seemed fair, the delivery didn't arrive until around 11pm, over and hour and a half after we placed the order.
Furthermore, when we opened the box, it took a minute or two to figure out if one of the brownies had been forgotten. There was a small brownie square in the box, and four peanut butter chips scattered along the bottom of the box, but no apparent peanut butter chip brownie itself. That's when we realized that the "two" brownies were actually "one" square that was cut down the middle into a triangle shape for each one. And the chips had just fallen clear off of the top. All right, not TOO bad... but then they were gone in two bites. But the cookie was also horribly misshapen and the food while still warm (surprising considering the long wait?) wasn't anything that I couldn't have baked better in my own kitchen.
That is, I suppose, the price to pay for laziness ($10), but I also won't be ordering from Insomnia again.
This rockin' cookie delivery business founded by Penn alums now has locations at many campuses in the Midwest and on the East Coast. At Penn, they're now stepping up from a cookie truck to a walk-in store location in the basement of Houston Hall.
This was my inaugural Insomnia experience, and I decided to go with a classic: chocolate chunk. It was warm, well-sized, and it only cost a DOLLAR. Mmmm...allow me for the moment to revel in the comforting memory of its cozy gooey deliciousness. It tasted like a real, homemade cookie fresh out of the oven.
They also have several other flavors, including some larger, fancier premium varieties, which I may have to sample on my next visit. And when they're that cheap, why not?
Ok, we gave them another go. I see that someone else had an issue with a slow delivery on 9/26, so maybe it was a bad day. We ordered a bunch of cookies and they were delivered to us in like 15-20min. They were warm, melty, and delicious.
