I have had tons of professional massages before and I just had one from Lucy. Her massage was truly unique and amazing! She knows body mechanics extremely well and has such strong intuition that makes for not only a transformational experience, but as well a comfortable one. Highly recommend you try Lucy at Inner Balance Center:

Great first-time deal on an hour massage plus I was a walk-in and only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a massage on a Sunday afternoon in December. That was stellar. Their aesthetician wasn't there that day or else I would have gotten a facial. Poo.
Facility is very well-decorated, comfortable, and relaxing. The gentleman at the front desk was OK. My massage was pretty good - a bit rough but I asked for that due to soreness from traveling and exercising. I was sore for a couple of days after (duh) but my muscles felt better overall. The lady I got (I can't remember her name, darn) was not very personable but it's all good because I just want to get a silent massage anyway, ha. -:)
When I go back to SD I might have to hit this place up because it DOES have good prices. Or perhaps I'll try somewhere else. Either way, I heart massages. -

This place took my Massage Virginity :p
As a previous student of SDSU...my shoulders, back, and neck had a lot of tension from constant studying, especially during mid-terms, and finals, and so, I was always curous about massages, but was kind of nervous about the possibility of enduring massive pain by the masseuse. However, I decided it give it a try, and found Inner Balance, both literally, and figuratively...
I don't recall the name of my masseuse, but she worked wonders on my shoulders, neck, and back. Before working on me, she asked where I would like her to focus on me, and worked her magic. She soothe away my aches and pain, and I pretty much drifted asleep the whole time. The ambience in there was really nice, and since its located in Pacific Beach, it was nice being by the ocean as well. Plus, for $55 an hour, and near the beach, can't be that price, especially on a college student budget :)
Though the only two gripes that I would have: One hour massage goes fast! So enjoy it, while you can...and parking can be a pain, but street parking is pretty good on Cass and Grand. And if you're finding it for the first time, there's Mexican food joint along there, if you pass it, it means that you've gone too far...the receptionist first told me that when I hadn't been there before.
Since then, whenever I come back to San Diego, Inner Balance is usually the first place that I go to. Then again, Pacific Beach has always been my favorite SD hangout...the best location for tattoos, and of course, massages :) -

I am extremely disappointed in this place. I heard great things, and after sustaining a minor injury, the timing felt right to check this place out. First off, they made me pay beforehand, which isn't a big deal, but awkward, when they expect you to input a tip, before the massage even takes place.
She spent probably about five minutes, applying zero pressure, with her hands completely still, and at one point I wanted to look up to see if she was awake. To top it all of she ended three minutes early. Don't go!!!!!!!!!! -

I love Inner Balance. I have been going there for years for massages and facials. I just recently started going there for Acupuncture with Kim Feig, She is wonderful and does a great mix of acupuncture and massage.
All of Inner Balances services are very reasonably priced and often have later and last minute appointments available. They also have a VIP program too that gives you a 10% discount on all your services.
Definitely try the acupuncture with Kim Feig though, she is great.

I personally think this is perfect for the price. It's clean, the people are nice and friendly, and the service is great. $55 for a full hour massage. I usually request for two of my favorite massage therapists, but even when they weren't available I received great service and left very relaxed.
Parking: For the most part, it is not a problem. There's plenty of street parking on Cass and Grand. If you are going during the summer though, make sure you give yourself enough time to find parking. As we all know, parking in PB is terrible during the summer. -

Not impressed.
I know massages and massage therapists. I know good from not good. This place, not good. Went based on reviews from here but I am not going back.
Too hard, then too soft when I said something. Too much oil then pain on the spots where there was no oil.
No thank you. -
Review from Julienne A.
San Diego, CA
A few weeks ago I came in here on a whim searching for some much-needed unkinking. I'll be honest, It wasn't exactly my first choice. So what led me here? They're open later the most places, are decently priced and had more options in terms of availability based on a short notice.
I walked into an office that didn't boast of any extravagance and I wasn't treated in that "i'm better than you" attitude that most receptionists at spas/salons/etc. seem to exude.
One thing that I thought was strange however, was that upon checking in... I had to pay up front along with tip. Tip before you receive your service? Ok... after that was said and done, I waited 5 minutes and my therapist showed up. Nice and friendly woman. As I walked into the room I couldn't help but wonder if my tip of 20% was enough to grant me a good massage.
As I undressed and laid myself on that massage table, ready to find out the answers to my questions I tried to relax and prepare myself for the next hour. Massages are something I'm still not quite comfortable with, but for that hour... I got what I needed. Granted I kept hearing a few deep sighs, similar to ones heard in more intimate hours, escape my therapist's mouth...causing me to tense up from time to time, but it's ok. That little woman had more strength than I thought. All my little kinks and knots were worked like she was kneading dough. I walked out feeling like a new woman.
Job well done!Listed in: Need a makeover?

OOOOOOOh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is living. This is peace. This is relaxation. This is it.
I can't remember the name of my therapist, but she was quite lovely and nice. She took the time to ask if anything in particular was bothering me and what type of pressure I liked etc, etc.
The room was quiet and comfortable and Asian inspired. So, I was inspired to remove all clothing, yes, completely naked, and lay down. AHHHH... bliss... -

This place is incredible.
I've been there a couple of times and plan on going every month, at least once a month.
Their prices are more than reasonable. They are sweet give warm greetings and are very welcoming. And the masseuse I have is so skilled and thorough and patient. You can tell she cares about helping you feel better and making sure your experience is a positive one. I go to Meredith and I highly recommend her. She's worth her weight in gold.
If you need a relaxing, good massage check this place out. I know they also do facials and body treatments. I haven't checked those out yet, but I'm sure they are fantastic too! -

Here is where I come when I need to have my innards balanced. I have only had one poor massage here, where I left hurting more than when I arrived, but that was years ago, and I haven't seen that therapist's card in the shop again.
The prices are reasonable enough to go for an hour and a half massage, ($83 without tip) which I would highly recommend. If I could afford that each month, I would definitely do so, but alas, the credit card payment has to come first.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I went here last week after reading reviews on yelp. I am not usually a "take off work early and go get a massage for no good reason" kind of girl. But, at these prices, thought I 'd give it a shot. They were able to get me in the same day and Kim gave me an awesome massage. Not real "deep", which I realized was actually kind of nice, VERY methodical and slow and relaxing, just what I needed to bring my stress down a couple notches.
Now, I am bringing some friends along next week for a girls day out. I am looking forward to it! -
Review from Celeste T.
Redlands, CA
So after reading all the reviews I wanted to try this place out, right in my neighborhood and inexpensive. I actually liked the idea of paying first because afterward you just leave, wonderful idea. I was not asked to pay the tip first either, so I gave it directly to my masseuse after the massage.
This is not the spa type place, no frills or girlie atmosphere, just massage. I normally go to spas that cater to pampering women and the massage is usually relaxing and peaceful. Spa hands usually feel more buttery and fluid. But then spa pampering costs a little more.
My experience at Inner Balance was different. At first I was slightly surprised by the rapid techniques, lots of movement and pressure but I decided to hang in and see how it turned out. My Masseuse said that people come because they like deep tissue, so I told her I like medium to soft pressure. No buttery hands here, more methodical probing, rocking, and squeezing. I accepted this more aggressive style and I settled in, within minutes I was relaxed. My conclusion: in general touch and massage are great! Hellooooooo :)
Things I liked: the price, that you left the lobby and went outside to another attached bldg (more rooms), paying first, the clean linens, and parking was easy.
I'll go back! -

I first discovered this location 5+ years ago while on vacation in La Jolla. Each visit to SD now requires a visit to Inner Balance.
The prices are reasonable and they offer a variety of services. I had a 60 minute massage and 60 minute facial while. I took my coworker along and she claimed it had to be the best facial she had ever had (minus the allergic reaction to the eye cotton / chemical).
Easy to get in and out, and very friendly staff. -
Review from Beler B.
Washington, DC
I've only been here once and had Meredith as my masseuse - I really enjoyed. I chose it because of other good reviews and it's so affordable. I've always been too cheap for massages before. My first impression was pretty comical. I walked in and there was this lady doing some yoga pose. I thought they were taking their name pretty seriously at that point. The people at the counter were fast and friendly. Meredith was very friendly and gave a great massage. The place isn't super fancy schmancy but it's not cheap feeling either. It's light and clean and not pretentious. I definitely am going to go back.
Oh, and it was so easy to book an appt. It seems like they have a pretty big staff. -
Review from Elle O.
San Diego, CA
I've never had a massage before, so when I decided to get one, I of course turned to Yelp for help finding a place. Inner Balance had good reviews, was very reasonably priced, and wasn't too far away, so I thought I'd give them a try.
If I had picked the Inner Balance Center by outside appearance alone, I probably would have been a little hesitant. It's located in a smallish officy-looking complex in PB. Once I walked up to the building, though, I could see that care and forethought had gone into the outside appearance.
The waiting area was fine...comfortable couch that I could have sat on all day, but since we were off and headed to our room within minutes, we didn't have the chance. My girlfriend and I got a couples massage. The room was very spacious, comfortable, the temperature was perfect, soothing music was playing, and my massage was GREAT! I will definitely be back! Sarah was great, made me feel very comfortable, and seemed genuinely happy to be the one giving me my first massage. A+++ for great service and great prices, as well as an beautiful environment. -
Review from Meaghan C.
San Diego, CA
I was treated to a kinky yet inviting massage spot in Pacific Beach; Inner Balance Center was a gift and couldn't be more appreciated - after a rough one session on the table, even the ambulance sirens and lack of soothing tunes nor spa like ambience could distract me from the pain that was falling off me like rain water - the deep tissue massage left me glowing after just sixty minutes of pressure and left me radiating for the rest of the day in the sun.
However, I do wish that there was a bit more ambiance to the place - I mean, a man was yelling at his girls while opening packages, and there were plastic chairs for patrons to wait while someone got ready - doing God only knows what. -
Review from Molly N.
San Diego, CA
I had an amazing massage at Inner Balance. This was my second time there and I opted for 90 minutes instead of 60 because I was majorly stressed and sore from running. Monica was awesome and was able to work out a lot of the knots in my back and neck. She asked me what I wanted to focus on and made suggestions based on my needs.
The price is amazing ($83 for 90 mins) and if you purchase their membership ($30) you can have 90 mins for even less. Plus, it's a full 90 mins...not like some places that knock off 10 minutes to allow you to get undressed/dressed.
The only downside to Inner Balance is that the parking can be tough, and that it can also be loud a times. It's next to the alley near Garnet and the beach so there is a lot of foot and bike traffic going through and you can hear everything they're saying. It was much better this time than last, I think because I was in a different room. If noise bothers you, maybe ask for someone who is in a quieter room away from the alley. -

I've been going to Inner Balance for about a year now. I've had 15+ years of experience receiving massage therapy and I would rate Pia Romano as one of the best massage therapists in San Diego. Pia is a petite lady ,but don't be fooled. She will not only work out the offending area, she will evaluate the cause of the problem. She is, perhaps, the most intuitive massage therapist I've ever had. She seamlessly blends varying techniques, sometimes a slight pressure or movement from her craniosacral training will magically open and relieve an area. I know now that pain is not necessary for relief. I've had good results with other therapists at Inner Balance, but Pia is the best!!!!!

Ive been going here for years and love Pia. I have tried a few other massage therapists and thought they were also good but think Pia is the best. She has a great holistic approach and does wonders to tense sore muscles. You also cant find many other massage places that only charge $55 for an hour.

FRANKIE is amazing and look no further! I have had a few other facials in the past, and they were either painful, or my skin became a flared up mess. Not with Frankie and Inner Balance! The facial was super relaxing, rejuvenating, and the experience was awesome. She truly knows what she is talking about, has set me up with a plan to make my skin look healthier and vibrant...so far the results are outstanding. You get the knowledge of a true skin pro, with the calming and relaxing effect of a zen master! So glad I have met Frankie and Inner Balance. Five Stars WOOHOO!

I've been going to Inner Balance for a few years and continue to get great massages. Of course every masseuse has his/her own style--some I prefer more than others. I usually leave feeling great and relaxed. The reception guy needs to act a little bit happier and nicer.

My fiance wanted to go for massages Saturday so we hopped on Yelp to see who was good...after calling around Inner Balance had two spots at the same time for the same day. The waiting room is little, with a couch to fit 3. We didn't wait long and were taken in a few minutes early for our massages. In the end mine was ok...I could have used more pressure and less talking from my masseuse. My fiance came out like a zombie...he didn't even have to tell me how great it had been. Next time I'm going with his masseuse!

Never a bad experience when coming in! I have had facials, massages and body wraps at this location. Each specialist knows what they are doing, and are always making sure you are happy and comfortable. Would recommend going to at least try. Prices are very reasonable.

I like this place for a cheap massage! Do not expect a glamorus spa because this place is not like that at all. They are only 55 bucks for a full 60 mins but they are good at what they do. I have had 5 different therapist and they were all wonderful. Scheduling appointments were super easy cause they have so many people working. Definitely need to check this place out

San Jose, CA
I have been going here for years and, although I don't live in SD anymore, would go back whenever I visit. Penny is my masseuse and she is amazing. But I've had 4 or so other therapists there who do an EXCELLENT job. I've literally never been the slightest bit disappointed and have referred many people here (see EW's review, my best friend). Also, if you buy 3-packs, they give you a discount. And for $50 an hour as the standard rate, you can't beat that. It's the best massage joint in SD. And if you don't want to hassle with parking, come on a weeknight or first thing on a weekend morning, when everyone else in PB is still sleeping off their hangovers.

I've been going to Inner Balance for several years now and I continue to enjoy my experience. I don't always use the same therapist, but I always come away feeling more relaxed than when I went in. One of the more affordable one hour massages in town. Check it out and check out a little.

New York, NY
I was in town for a wedding, but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg at the hotel spa, so I checked this place out based on Yelp reviews. The location is great-- just off the main craziness of PB-- and is clean, relaxing and CHEAP. My only complaint was that my room got a little cold as the massage went on but that was only because of the crazy storm that was brewing outside (hardly their fault that the weather sucked last weekend). I will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

Great massage for good price. $55 for 1 hr, not including gratuity. Sarah H. is the bomb. She was helpful and caring, and gave me the exact massage I needed. I've also had facials there, $85 for the European. Highly recommended when you want to treat yourself. Office staff is very helpful and friendly.

Manhattan Beach, CA
Caveat--it IS only $50, so what do I expect. I'd pay the extra $10 and go to the school on Garnet. I was asked to pay up front. I didn't like that because wanted to add my tip on at the end depending how much I liked the service- leaving the tip first felt awkward and wrong. It was 9 am on a Sunday- it was freezing in the room and the bed was ice. Hard to relax when you are freezing. The school has the warming mat on the bed and is always heated perfectly. The massage itself was good, just didn't enjoy it as much as I would if I was warm. The front desk guy was kinda weird.

I have tried several salons in the area, and no one even comes close to the Inner Balance Center for a wonderful massage. The price was amazing! ($55 for 1 hour)...the staff was very friendly, and Angela gave me an incredible and relaxing massage. I called this morning and was able to get an appointment within 1 hour, so for those of you who never know when you will have the time to go, this place should be able to accomodate you the same day! My search is over....I will be a regular customer.

I have been going to Inner Balance for over a year now. My massage therapist, Tenaya is THE BEST!!!! I request extremely deep tissue massages and she is wonderful. The staff has always been courteous and professional, the facility is clean and relaxing. The price is right at $55/hr.
I get a massage approximately every 4 weeks from Tenaya. She is a life saver!!!! Highly recommended! -
Review from Bernie M.
This is a place hidden in the heart of Pacific Beach. I've always been satisfied with the service I received here. The place is clean, soothing and comfortable. My massage therapists have always asked me what type of pressure I like, what line of work I'm in and current health problems I have so that they can suit my massage needs. I haven't had a problem with them yet and would totally come back if only I lived a little closer to PB.

Ive been here probably over 20 times. I always leave feeling better. Ive tried about 6 different massuses, only 1 that was not good(cant remember her name). Tanaya and Jin are outstanding and specialize in deep tissue. Like others mentioned, it is not fancy but the price is definitely worth it!! Only drawbacks, sometimes you can hear outside noise(cars, honking, talking) but tell your therapist to tune up the music or bring earplugs:) I was easliy able to tune it out though. Make extra time for parking. I highly recommend this place.

I had a massage and the therapist decided to pull on my legs and my leg sockets made a popping noise. She told me it was air releasing. What was this about. Then she tried to pop my wrists too. I was very leary about this. She did not seem qualified to do this. I wanted a relaxing massage, but felt she thought she was a chiropractor too. My advise is to be careful when you get pulled on. Make sure you ask a zealous massage therapist to only massage you and not try and pop your joints.
Not happy and sore afterwards. -
