I really enjoyed this place nice view even on the 8Th floor. Most comfortable bed i have ever slept on. try out Boston blackies around the corner avoid regal beagle its a rip off. the hotel bar is nice but small looking forward to return. not sure on price company paid for it.
I ended up here last Saturday night (it's a bit of a story). We were first just hanging out in the lobby/bar area. There were some people from Oklahoma enjoying some beer when we arrived. We quickly joined them and had some good conversation until 4:30 am when the security guys finally kicked us out. The lobby is very modern and clean.
The hotel room was actually quite small. The bathroom was even smaller. It felt like I was in an old hotel in New York. But once again, everything was clean. I don't know how comfy the beds are because, well, I slept on the floor. The floor is not so comfortable.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to friends. It's right off the Mile and apparently is pretty inexpensive. It also seems skewed to 20s and 30s people.

We stayed at the Inn Of Chicago BEFORE its renovation, when it was the Best Western Inn Of Chicago. Even then, it was a FANTASTIC hotel conveniently located in the downtown area with easy access to the CTA Chicago Transit Authority bus stop and an elevated rail station. We loved our room and enjoyed the top floor observation deck with its view of the magnificent mile skyline. We were also able to get Chicago Style Pizza delivered to our room from Pizzeria Uno. The Inn Of Chicago will be my hotel of choice if I have another opportunity to visit the Windy City.
I don't work here anymore. That alone takes away at least ONE star! ;)

So... this is my hotel and I am, therefore, totally biased.
The hotel has a newly renovated lobby…

For the price ($109/night) and location, I should not complain about the hotel. I should be complaining to Hotwire, which considers this a 3-star hotel along the lines of Holiday Inn, Radisson, and Doubletree. Usually, those are clean-enough, no-frills hotels, so I stupidly bought 3 nights hoping I would get one of those hotels. Unfortunately, I ended up with the Inn of Chicago.
(Room rates were ridiculously expensive the weekend I went to Chicago since there were at least 3 huge conventions that weekend and many 4-star hotels were fully booked or charging full-price--$300+/night.)
The hotel lobby and bar were deceptive--they made the hotel seem trendier and more modern than it actually was. The room was a decent size, but had a teeny tiny bathroom with no counter space. The sheets were too short for the bed. The bathroom was dirty! It could have used some scrubbing. I couldn't believe it--it smelled like mildew in the shower.
I spoke to two different concierges at the hotel, with two totally different approaches to customer service. One was really warm and helpful. The other was cold and condescending when I asked her how long it would take to get to Evanston from Chicago, after asking for directions. I didn't realize that was an annoying question.
I hope to never stay here again. And I will never pay for a 3-star hotel on Hotwire again--too risky.
I think we paid less than $100/ night for this place. I cannot tell you how great of a location it is for the price they charge. The lobby is small but chic and there's a little bar in the back if it's too cold to go out. There was an older lady that helped us check in at the front desk who was bitter and not very helpful. The houskeeping staff on our floor was rude as well. We slept in one morning and when we left our room the housekeeper was standing outside our room and said 'are you finally done?'
Um...NO. Anyway, so the service isn't all that great but for the price and location, it's totally worth it.

Value for money, this place rocks. $129 (plus tax) for a room in downtown Chicago? Downright shocking. Even more shocking is that this place is very nice! After an extensive remodel, the hotel lobby is well appointed and, dare I use the word, "hip." The rooms are small, but that was fine with me, because the beds were extremely comfortable. No scary, cheap, hotel comforters here. Clean, down comforters and pillows, guaranteed to give you a good night sleep. The only thing I thought was a little off was that they hadn't upgraded the TVs to flatscreens. Kind of burst the boutique bubble, so to say, and the room would have felt larger as well. All in all, though, it was great.

I stayed in this hotel while in town job hunting. I loved that it is located right in the middle of downtown, close to awesome shopping, the loop, and everything else you could want or need.
My room was not small, in fact I thought it was pretty big. It had a queen sized bed, which was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. It also had a couch, coffee table, sink and small refriderator, a desk/chair and a lounge chair. And the price was right!
As a disclaimer, my friend is the concierge there so of course I stayed in her hotel. But even so, I was very impressed with it and would stay there again.

$70 a night for a hotel in the middle of downtown, with more than enough amenities for a couple on a trip, or a business trip.
Free tip: wi-fi is free in the lobby, but you pay for it in your room. Grab an IP address in the lobby and use it in your room. Free wi-fi in your room!

I stayed at the Inn of Chicago after one night at the most god-awful hostel I've ever been to. The decor is awesome - apparently they just finished renovating the place and they did a really good job. The rooms are pretty small, but are very reasonably priced (we paid $68 a night). The location is pretty good as well, and there are restaurants nearby - it's literally a block away from the Magnificent Mile, too. There is free internet in the lobby, but we had no luck with it in our room. My only beef was that I smelled cigarette smoke and pot almost all the time in the lobby and in the bathroom, I guess from the vents.
The rooms are small, but the decor is nice, and the location is great. There IS no ventilation in the bathroom, but that was never a problem while I was there. There was construction going on across the street, and while noise was never a factor, they always seems to be staring into hotel windows to see if they can get a peek of something.
The lobby is nice, and they offer free wifi. One hint, as long as you login in the lobby once a day, you have untethered access in your room. Nice little perk. They have a rooftop view, but it's fairly underwhelming.

Just "serviceable."
Teeeeeeeeeny rooms with meh water pressure and an overworked staff.
Warning: There is no bathroom ventilation whatsoever (no fan or windows), so be sure your list of restaurants to visit does not include Ethiopian food or you will suffocate.
I give them credit for trying to make the lobby kinda funky, but a funky lobby does not a rockin' hotel make.
You can't beat the location if you're looking to be smack in the middle of shopping and stuff, but if you're looking for comfort and a little bit of swank, you're best off somewhere else.
With that said, if you're just looking for clean crash space without a lot of bells and whistles, you'll be fine here.

While the rooms are itsy bitsy, they are very clean and the hotel is a pretty good deal considering the prices at neighboring hotels. My only complaint about the Inn of Chicago was the annoying dance music piped into the hallways, lobby, and elevators at all times of day and night.
Meh. If they called themselves just a Best Western, I'd stil be annoyed but wouldn't care so much that I couldn't actually check into my room till more than 2.5 hours after check-in time (they wanted us to leave and get dinner and then come back, but we were tired and dirty and wanted to clean up before going anywhere) and that I got woken up from a dead sleep at 9 on Labor Day morning to see if maintenance could come check out something in my room (I'm from the West Coast, that's like 7 a.m. for me! And we hadn't reported anything!). But no, they call themselves the Inn of Chicago, a "luxury boutique hotel."
It's decently located to shops, the rooms are tiny but clean, but don't expect more than a place to fall asleep at night. The airport Quality Inn we'd stayed at the night before was sadly nicer, which is pretty pathetic considering it's a low-end airport hotel.

The Inn of Chicago (formerly a Best Western property) is a decent hotel just a block east of the bustling "Magnificent Mile" that is Michigan Avenue. The rooms are ok, and the lobby is just a place to wait for your friends. There are many restaurants and mini-marts around so you will not starve.
(UPDATE FEB 2008)
I understand with the new management that the property has been updated, so we'll have to see if their rating goes up. I think it sounds like a cool place now.
