This hotel used to be the town's old alcohol plant but has been extensively renovated as a boutique hotel.  I'd suggest upgrading to a suite overlooking the water.  Our penthouse suite came with a large jacuzzi, a fireplace, interesting art/sculptures, TWO flat screen tvs, a delightfully huge bed, and a balcony overlooking the marina and the Puget Sound.  Tastefully decorated with art, glass and sculpture, each room (we've stayed here twice) has it's own unique feel and layout.

The hotel has three private art galleries and a restaurant, Nemo's, which has a menu featuring delicious + fresh local seafood (say hi to the Executive Chef for us; her name is Tiffany!).  This hotel is very close to the Port Townsend area and I recommend staying here if you're going to be exploring the Washington Peninsula.  Nearby you'll find rampant opportunities for kayaking, beaches, islands, and hiking.

This quirky inn is exactly what we remembered from last time (we stayed here also in Nov 2010). The rooms are interesting, not top of the line, but clean and comfortable and fun with the poster beds and mirrored celings. Good place to stay when visiting Port Townsend.

One drawback: last time we stayed we had the option of ordered breakfast or continental included. The ordered breakfast was AMAZING and we were looking forward to it again but this time continental or purchased brunch were our only options.

I have stayed at the IAPH every month for the past five years for "work" (I am purposely being ambiguous about my work, but let's just say there is a military installation nearby, hence the reason I stay monthly)

So, in the beginning it was very very nice, well run, and lots of little niceties you want in a boutique style hotel. Such as nicer than average soap, free bottle of water, and a nice spread in the morning for breakfast. Best of all, Edie was there with a warm gracious smile every Friday evening when I checked in. Then...... Things changed.

Word was the place was bought by some "outsiders", in other words, not local and not really in tune with the local culture

First thing they did? Took away the medical benefits from Edie, there most loyal, hard working, and friendliest employee.  This was the beginning of the end of anything quality there.

After Edie quit (good for her!), a long and still present list of slugs, young ditsy girls, and some apparent "family members" began working the front desk. Every last one either lacked a brain, a personality, or a desire to give a shit about their job.

Then the little niceties started disappearing.  First, no bottle of water in the room. Next, the soda machine (which had water as a choice)....gone.  Only to be replaced by some 1960-era snack machine that was full once, never to be repleneshed to date. Then went the nicer soap, or at least it was a crap shoot as to what you would get.

Incidently, I only ate in the restaurant a few times. $ 14.00 for fish and chips?  I don't think so.   Then the morning breakfast got more and more basic, including varying times it was put out (which meant sometimes I had time to eat, sometimes not).

I can't tell you how many times I check in, go to my room with all my stuff, and then the stupid key card doesn't work.  Which means going all the way back down to get a new one.  Usually I get the stupid line, "It should work".  Like I am lying and really wanted to come all the way downstairs and waste time!!!  Idiots!

A few times the room I was checking into wasn't clean.  Oops......

A few times the heater didnt work.

A few times the TV remote didn't work.

These are all little things, but when they start happening with more regularity, and start to accumulate, they really become a major annoyance.

This last stay was the topper though. After a hard day of manual labor, hot, dirty, and sweaty... I come back to the room to find it had not been serviced by housekeeping. To make sure I wasn't the only one, I called the other 4 people staying, and sure enough, nope nope nope and nope. After my annoyance died down, I thought a warm shower would make me feel better. So clothes came off, shower on, about to step in, no freakin soap. Which means, getting dressed again to walk down to the front desk. This ditz working the desk didn't apologize for the lack of maid service or toiletries, she just pulled a crappy bar of soap from a junk drawer and went back to surfing the Internet.
And the best was my frozen leftover food in the fridge that was basically ruined.

My organization drops about $1000 per month on this place, and quite frankly it's a joke. If only people who come once in a while could appreciate just how bad this place has gotten.

Every single one of my coworkers that stay monthly express to me the same opinion that this place has turned into a motel 6 with a view.  (Funny thought, even the crappiest hotels and motels I have stayed in at least have frickin' soap!)

Don't waste your money. Stay in Port Townsend. There are SO many better places.  In an effort to cut expenses, they completely cut out any shred of quality.   And given the fact that I have stayed there no less than 60 times, I think I can speak authoritatively on the subject.

The breakfast here is amazing. I stayed there  about 4 years ago and still rave about their breakfast. The view of the marina is also beautiful. The rooms are okay, but a bit outdated.

First, we got a really crappy room.  We had to ask twice before we could even find it.  I was cold, damp, weary, tired, carsick, ferry-sick, and miserable.  I got some exciting locally-made bath salts in Port Angeles.  So I make a beeline for the bathroom, dreaming of a steaming, scented bath.  I step in and.... no bathtub.  Just a stand-up shower stall.  Totally unacceptable.  I stared at it and just... wilted.

Luckily, there was another room available.  A mucchhh nicer one, with a balcony overlooking the water, and a huge jacuzzi tub, even if it was awkwardly placed next to the bed, in the bedroom, nowhere near the bathroom.  I threw down my bags, cranked up the gas fireplace, and started over.
Nice place, kind of remote, with lots of local art.  The only close food option seemed to be their restaurant, which was a little too fussy and not enough delicious.  The restaurant is supposedly 'pan-asian' but there was an awful lot of meat and heavy butter/cream type dishes.

I would've preferred something simpler or heartier, like a bowl of soup or a good salad.  The caesar salad I got consisted of some pale green and white lettuce stalks, parmesan cheese, and some shrimp.  I don't remember dessert, which probably isn't a good sign.  I also ordered tea and got a single-serving sized teapot of lukewarm water with a teabag on the side.  Eh.

The restaurant at the inn  is very wonderful. In the summer it is nice to eat outside. Very delicious and beautifully presented food wonderful salads. You can bring your  boat there and dock it for a few hours while you eat lunch. We just had one of their  special  champagne sunday breakfasts and loved it. Very  friendly  service generous with the champagne and    kid friendly but watch out for the art and glass. Only four stars b/c the bathroom  was not well stocked. No paper towels.
