Surprise!  My Mom was in town, passing through on her way to Carmel Valley, and we gathered up some friends and dined in splendor at the restaurant.
I had superb swordfish, while the other diners feasted on steak and lamb.  The service was impecable, and the view is still one of the best on the coast.
The restaurant is updated and in menu and furnishings, and will hopefully attract an appreciative crowd.

If you think of this as a stay in a state park, it rates higher.  If you think of this as a water-front hotel, it rates lower.  All the way around, it's a mixed bag.

Cute cottage-y look -- pale yellow walls, great crown moldings, oversized armoire, better-than-average European shams, bedskirt, and comforter.  But, popcorn ceilings with water stains, dark brown carpet with bleach marks here and there, and paper-thin walls are the contrasting reality, too.  Wicker dining chairs aren't comfortable seating.  And, the place clearly needs more than cosmetic work -- be prepared for alternating scalding and cold water during the same shower, to hear the upstairs toilet flush, and to find ants on occasion.  That's the state park campground feel.

What you can't beat is the water view, the calmness of the surroundings, and the great walk into Morro Bay.

I'd give this a "2" on amenities and a "4" on the view.  But, that still averages to a "2" on my weighted scoring!

We stayed here the night before Thanksgiving 2010 and from what I'm reading and from actually calling the hotel just now, not much has changed.

For one thing, we froze our tuckuses off.  We arrived late in the evening and the room was as cold or colder than the air outside.  Unfortunately, they only had a low-powered floor heater in there.  What sort of hotel doesn't have either central heat or a wall heater?  I called the front desk and asked if they had another source of heat or if there was anything they could do.  The guy said, rather rudely, that they were very busy and he would have to call me back.  He didn't.  I called back after an hour.  Same response and he never called back after that.

So I looked forward to taking a nice hot bath to warm up.  But there is no bathtub.  What sort of hotel doesn't have a bathtub?  There is only a shower, which, as other yelpers have pointed out, is just awful.  Water gets everywhere, it's cold and uncomfortable.  The stone hurts your feet and it's kind of slippery.

We had also expected to get a balcony with a hot tub.  We were told on the phone that all the rooms with balconies had hot tubs.    Turns out, only the ones with ocean views do.  It doesn't say that on the website.

They keep saying "we're in the process of remodeling."  That's what they said when we complained more than a year ago and that's what the woman just said on the phone now when I called to check the status of the hotel to see if things had improved.  By their own admission, they haven't.  When I asked, the woman on the phone said that none of the rooms have bathtubs or better heaters, not even the suites, but that she wasn't sure what the plans for the renovations were.  Questions:  1. How long does it take to renovate the rooms, since it's been over a year?  2. The room we were in had been updated because the bathroom was all re-done in that ugly stone, so what exactly are they doing? I think that room has been renovated, they just use that as their response to complaints about the poor amenities.  3. Don't you think putting in decent heat would have been a high priority if they were really doing renovations?  4.  Why don't the front desk staff have any idea what the plans are?  Shouldn't they know if guests are complaining about the amenities?

The problem is that from the outside, this is a deceptively nice-looking hotel.  I always thought it would be luxurious and expensive when I was living in Morro Bay and would go to their restaurant for special occasions (however, the restaurant's quality has really gone down in the last few years).  For how much they charge, you don't get more than you do at a standard motel.  In fact, I would bet that even Motel 6 has bathtubs and heat, and for half the price.  It makes no sense to stay here when there are so many nicer hotels in town for the same price or less.

Note: people have complained about the lack of cellphone reception.  That's not the Inn's fault.  A lot of the town is like that.  Blame your cellphone carrier for not putting more towers in the area.  However, the lack of free wifi in the rooms, I do not understand.

Don't go.  For the money the construction noise was awful along with workers yelling under our window and 5:30 in the morning.  To be fare, they did discount the room when we complained, but there were other issues that spoiled our stay.

I stayed at Morro Bay with my girlfriend for a good friend's wedding. My initial reaction was that this place looked beautiful and being on the water, this was definitely going to be a romantic weekend.

Yes, it was a very romantic weekend, but this place is definitely lacking in a few areas. Firstly, the pool was being renovated. The correct time of year for renovations, but considering the price we were hoping for some pool time.

The room was pretty below-average. Bathrooms were wonderfully clean and full of tile, and the room itself was clean, but there was a musty, old smell that filled our noses as we entered the room, and the peach-colored walls just made my girlfriend go UGH! I fell into the room once or twice because of the awkward step up through the doorway from the outside. The patio door was definitely difficult to open and close and the slats on the windows were difficult to open and close as well. Bed was comfortable, but from there it is difficult to turn on the TV unless you're 6'5" with a 7' wingspan... You really have to reach your hand way above your head for the IR on the remote to reach the television.

All in all, I will come back here again because I heard from the front desk that they are under new management and are in the process of renovating the buildings, starting with the building #2 where we were situated.

Great venue, beautiful lobby, great reception area for the wedding, but it just needs some work on the other facilities.

A long-overdue review of this establishment. I stayed at the Inn at Morro Bay last month for a wedding, along with a few other couples. My initial reaction to the hotel was "eh, not bad!" Especially after seeing the beautiful views of the ocean from the property. However, the good reactions end there.

The room itself was pretty standard, if not a little bit dingy. It was extremely awkward (and not to mention dangerous) having a pretty hefty step up from the door to the hallway. The bathroom was just awful. The shower got water EVERYWHERE, and there was no counter space to speak of. I love a pedestal sink, but there was literally nowhere to set any sort of bathroom accoutrement, which is a huge problem for a single person using a bathroom, let alone multiple people. As other reviewers have noted, the walls are PAPER THIN. We were able to hear not only the woman next door on the phone, but we could also clearly make out the voice of the woman she was talking to over the phone. I swear to goodness!

The Inn also apparently has some troubles with reservations. I had checked in with another couple the night before the wedding, and when we checked in, we mentioned to the front desk that another couple would be checking in later the next day, as they were going to drive straight to the wedding and check in after the wedding ended. The front desk claimed to make a note of their late check-in on the reservation, however they soon after called the couple to confirm their reservation. They then proceeded to call them again the day of their check in, this time DURING the wedding ceremony, because they were confused as to why this couple hadn't checked in yet, despite having been told multiple times that they were having a late check in.

But the icing on the proverbial cake is what they did to the bride and groom of the wedding, who spent their first night as bride & groom at the Inn before embarking on their honeymoon. The groom had reserved the upgraded (honeymoon?) suite for the night, but after checking in and getting their keys, the couple was shocked to find another guest's things in their room. Turns out, the hotel had double booked the room. The bride & groom were given another room to stay in, which the couple accepted, but it was a disappointing way to start out their honeymoon!

It appears that the hotel is in the process of doing some renovations, which are sorely needed. Fingers crossed that they fix many of their problems, as the location is great, but the property and building need some major TLC!

I really wanted to upgrade this place to better than two stars, but despite the fantastic location, really couldn't do so to be consistent with my reviewing. The rooms are tired and a bit dank. My door was actually so ill-fitting you could see an irregular space at the top and bottom, where the wind blew through. The shower stall was open on two sides but was hardly in the modern style, and it seemed impossible to both aim the shower head at myself and avoid splashing water into the room. No wifi in the room (there's insecure wifi in the lobby area only), and the cable TV actually was full of static. I liked the little balcony, although because they angled all the interior "non view" rooms like mine so you could get a peep of the ocean - and I mean a tiny, tiny glimpse - probably so they could advertise 'ocean view' rates - the balcony had zero privacy. The blinds were weird plantation-style shutters that were hard to keep shut all the way for some reason.

It was clean enough but the wear and tear on the interior wasn't quite enough to make it what I'd call a pleasant stay over. The front desk staff tried to be helpful with a special request for some computer printouts in lieu of a proper business center, but got it a bit mucked up and then bailed on me. I am not sure how to take this - they went above and beyond to try to accommodate me and then didn't follow through on the request. I was told at checkin not to put my room keys in my wallet or they wouldn't work. Excuse me? What the heck are the credit-card style keys for, and where are you supposed to keep them?

This is the kind of place where I hope somebody drops a couple of million dollars in capital and really perks the place up - the location is fantastic. And very oddly, although the very expensive restaurant and bar had what I'd call completely mundane food at haute prices, the wait staff were superb, absolutely unexpected for the area.

Still, I just can't quite bring myself to bring this up into the "average" range - nothing quite made up for the feeling I was barely enclosed from the outdoors.

Nice location, and I got a room with a Bay view, for a very reasonable price. The room was clean, big, nice, seemed newly renovated. I could see birds, sea lions, boats, Morro Rock, and a beatiful sunset out of my room. Fascinating.
There were enough soap bars, shampoo bottles, towels, cartridges for the coffee makers, the hair dryer and the iron were in order.
Well, the furniture is old, the TV channel selection is next to nothing, that's fine with me.
There is a piano in the restaurant that I played. I liked it a lot, and I'm sharing the thought even if nobody cares :)

My husband and I just spent 4 days at the Inn for our 2nd anniversary.
I must say I was quite disappointed as the reviews on http://hotels.com were all good, should have checked yelp first.
We checked in and were given our keys.  We get to our room and the cleaning lady is still cleaning it so we stood outside for about 15 mins waiting for her to finish.  Once inside our initial reaction was "its ok".
But here is the low down.  The bathroom was cramped and dirty.  Mold in the shower.  Needs new tile desperately.  The room was decent sized but the furniture looked like someone had beaten it with a baseball bat.  The bed was HORRIBLE, a ridge in the middle and two holes you sank into.  Walls are paper thin, you could hear everything!  There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, so we called house keeping to request some and got a machine.  After leaving a message  waited almost an hour and heard nothing so I called the front desk and was told that we should only call them as housekeeping does not answer the phone.  OK?!?  TP came about 45 mins later, glad no one needed any!  The rooms need a makeover in the worst way!  Now the kicker.  We were so looking forward to the hot tub and relaxing however the pool and spa were closed for refurbishment. So we could not enjoy it.  We were also woken up every morning very early {remember on vacation} by the workers saws and banging.  So sleeping in was not an option.  No discount or incentives were offered for the inconvenience.  If we had to do it over again we would have stayed somewhere closer to town and the Embarcadero.    I say dont let their photos fool you, they did me!

    UPDATE:{10-28-11}
I have been contacted by management who informed me that the Inn is under new management and undergoing a several months long refurbishment.  They have invited us back by comping us a room for two nights when the remodel is complete which I think is really cool of them.  I am upping them to 3 stars for now since their management has contacted me with this offer.  So once we give it another go I will  re-review the Inn.

I'll keep this short and sweet. The hotel IS outdated..the TVs are old, the patio door didn't lock, and I agree with the lack of counter space in the bathroom...BUT despite all that the location is amazing (even if the prices are slightly steep). If you're comming here to relax, enjoy the scenery and the nature then the lack of Wi-fi should not bother you. Overall this is just about the nicest lodging in any State Park I've been to...usually all these parks have is camping. Come here to enjoy the simple things around you, not for a 5 star hotel experience.

The view of Morro Rock from our room was great. But, we were very disappointed in the room itself, considering the cost in particular.

First, no closet! What looked like a closet was locked. No wifi in the rooms! Wifi was only available in the lobby. No hairdryer! No noise insulation! We could easily hear every word spoken by the neighbors, who were talking in a normal voice. The clock radio/cd player was 20 years old!  TV was slightly newer, probably 15 years old. There was no art on the walls - just paint. One of the lights didn't work properly either- maybe a short?

Oh yeah, mold in the shower too! Just on the edges...does that make it OK???

Inn at Morro Bay needs to step it up when charging the prices they charge. I do not recommend it, although the location is beautiful.

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, I mean I wouldn't even have thrown a hotel party when I was 18 here bad.
We checked in, room was outdated and freezing but wasn't terrible. Tried to sleep around 11pm, could hear every word from the arguing couple next to us, the couple watching tv above us and what sounded like kids playing tag next to us. Finally fall asleep to wake up at 1am and the power was out, get up the next morning to the bathroom filled with ants, the shower that covers the entire bathroom in water and while in the shower without knocking at 9am the maid bursts into the room. 10 minutes later she tries to come in again but is stopped by the lock, no apologies for anything wouldn't stay here again even if it was free !

Not so sure of this place as my wife and I tried to have a romantic weekend. Not sure I can really say this was the place for that. We decided to "upgrade" to the partial ocean view with hot tub. There is no question it was partial, we more saw the back patio/ down stairs patio area then we did the bay. I quote upgrade because the carpet was dyed brown, more wish I could say it died, but no it was really dyed brown from green. We, my wife and I, know this because the color didn't cover door to patio.

Moving past the basics of the room, the bathroom was a shower stall with the shower curtain acting as two of the enclosures. We tried to do the complimentary breakfast that came with the room and it was more than packed by 9 AM, so we went do the coffee pot, another review I will work on next, which from the look of the people was the right decision. So all in all, for over $175 a night I guess I expected a lot more than what we got. Oh and adding to what I hope you can see the frustration, the charge the card you check in with before you check out. Sorry but I do decide to change cards before I check out as I don't want the incidentals on my debit card, so be careful of this. No matter area is still beautiful so don't let this review defer you from enjoying your trip, just find someplace else top stay the evening. You will enjoy the trip that much more. Happy travels!

2 rooms were booked using expedia... at check-in they only had 1 reserved and had nothing for the second half of our party.  Guy at the desk seemed unapologetic and made us feel as though this happens all the time.
He suggested another Inn that was: "newer, built within 5 years, closer to the beach, with pillow top mattresses and flat screen LCD TVs and cheaper".... Okay, so he's making a pitch to us for another hotel??  I guess that works since they have no rooms here for us.
Over the course of our stay at the other hotel- we learned that they've gotten a lot of the overflow from this place over the summer months.  Apparently management/ownership changes have affected their customer service and organization.  Too bad cause it did look like a nice place from the outside.

If you are not an enthusiastic camper like me, then Inn At Morrow Bay will be your best/only choice inside the Morrow Bay State Park.

Upon arrival, I was pleased with the well manged property, and friendliness of the check-in staff. But disappointments soon settled in when I opened the door to our Bay View Room on the first floor. Following are the reasons:

    1. A sink was placed directly at the end of the room, with florescent lighting, separated from the bathroom.

    2. The window shutters were broken, so we had to adjust each panel accordingly, so we get sufficient ocean breeze and privacy from by passing guests.

    3. No central air, only a ceiling fan on top of the bed, which seemed a bit dangerous, since it was warbling and can be falling off anytime and thread you into pieces if you sleep under it.

    4. Water temperature was inconsistent.

    5. Carpet seemed dirty.

    6. My cell phone had no reception inside the room.

In conclusion, I would stay at a better accommodation even if I've to drive 30miles out.

Four words... Do Not Stay Here!

So run down the door was not flush to the top. The furniture
was old, old, old and the linen looked like it was from the 80's.
The kicker though was hearing every word of our neighbors

When I was a wee young thing, I pretty much looked at hotel rooms as samey places I couldn't wait to leave. My parents would lounge around for hours on end doing what seemed like absolutely nothing. I habitually forgot my swimsuit (on occasion my step-mother would say something insane like "Oh, she can just swim in her underpants!" to which my father would shoot her a disapproving look).  Another constant  was the endless  barrage of family bickering, always exacerbated by mouthy, angsty only-children such as myself.

The Inn at Moro Bay instantly soothed the long-standing irritation I felt when confronted with the prospect of a road-trip vacation.

The most important aspect about this hotel is the honey of a deal we got. If you ever find yourself in the Moro Bay area midweek during the off season, the Inn at Moro Bay will supply you with a veritable cornucopia of amenities. For a song, we got a very large room complete with a king sized bed, mini-fridge, fireplace, decent sized television and most importantly a balcony with a bay view and our own HOT TUB! Halle-freakin'-lujah. Forget your sleazy Jersey Shore misconceptions, hot tubs are The Shit.

It's clear that this isn't the newest property along the central coast but what is also obvious is that they've done an awful lot to make very nice improvements over the years. The staff was very hospitable and the grounds were immaculate. Breakfast buffet ranged from Belgian waffles, porridge to lox and bagels. My only issue was an obnoxious amount of flies bombarding us in the breakfast room but I was able to deal.

So if you're a fan of relaxation, bird watching (their estuary is amazing) and good value you really must go to the Inn at Moro Bay.

I kept going back and forth between 3 stars and 4 stars.  So let me explain.

First off we spent about 200 bucks a night for a full ocean/Bay view room.  The view was great for sure.  We had birds to our left, seals in front and morro rock to our right.  that was all fine. But...

The hot tub was broken.  It wouldn't shut off so we got to hear that all night.  The maintenance man didn't know how to fix it so he filled it up with cold water because it was too hot for anyone to touch which in turn made it to cold to sit in talking low 90's.

Restaurant sucked.  The food wasn't very good by any means.

Bar sucked.  They were out of almost all their beers.  After trying a couple different cocktails we left and went into town.

The plus.  Check out is at noon so you can sleep in.  The view was great and the location was great.  If you stay there mid week with the cheaper rooms its probably the best deals around because all the hotels are pricey there so you might as well have a pretty view right?

    Pros:
    - great deal through http://Hotels.com (standard room = very basic)
    - beautiful surroundings (right next to the golf course, in front of the ocean, in the State park)
    - restaurants with a great view
    - Fri night and Sun brunch live music at the restaurant
    - great-deal breakfast (OK buffet but only for $10.95 with a view!)
    - clean

    Cons:
    - front desk, not giving any info when I checked in (I wish it was little more than "Checking in? All set!")
    - small room
    - thin walls
    - shower only (no bath tub) in the Standard rooms

    Recommendation:
    - call them up and reserve a room even when you get a room through http://hotels.com. You could get a room with a view (or a second floor room if it's standard).

We had a charity event at Hearst Castle in the morning and lost a lot of sleep dealing with issues.  Arrived very late in the night so I couldn't see anything, hardly even the roads... can't comment on location or hotel overall.

Rooms have no deadbolts. Therefore, when we received the wrong room keys, we were able to walk in on other residents sleeping.  After getting the right keys, we found ourselves in a room with a disconnected phone line and a patio door that would not lock.  The condition of the room was also very cheap.. harsh marks on the paint near the door and chips in the furniture. Bathroom was also very small in their standard room without counter top space (ladies, that means no place to put your on your make up and products).  Also, standing shower only, no tub.

Aesthetics aside, you cannot expect two single girls to stay in a ground floor unit that won't lock, without a working phone, and reception too poor for us to use our cell phones.  They were booked with no other rooms so we had them find us another hotel and left immediately.  Not too much surprise or sympathy from the front desk which tells me problems in this hotel are not uncommon.   Definitely not as nice as the website made it seem..

I booked a room here for my husband and my 5-year anniversary. It was nice and cozy, a bit on the older side, but well maintained.

We stayed one night in room 420, a bay view room with a fireplace, private mini hot-tub on the balcony and a dual shower bath. It was a bit spendy at $179, but for all the amenities it came with it was an okay price.

Checking and out was a breeze, the little restaurant near the lobby offered adequate and satisfying buffet breakfast .

The hotel is going through a transition with new ownership, we were told that it previously bank-owned which may be why there were so many resent negative ratings.

It was clean, quiet and private. We were never interrupted or heard any other guests and for all we know we could have been the only guests. The fireplace and bay view made for excellent romantic ambiance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

The room was ok to be honest the best part of the room was the bathroom. I gave this three stars because the restaurant they have located in the hotel was great. The food was so delicious. And also two of the rooms I got didn't have internet because there wasn't any "BOX"? that they connect the ethernet cable to. Had to walk to the lobby to use the internet... -_- plus its 6 dollars.

My last, incredibly detailed review was removed by Yelp. You can find it on tripadvisor with the heading, "BEDBUGS". I'll keep this second review short and sweet, focusing on the major points.

    1. Bumbling staff
    2. Faulty online reservation system
    3. Bird estuary = bird poop everywhere
    4. BEDBUGS

I must preface that I did get an absolutely awesome mid-week deal on http://hotels.com - like a total steal. I'm not even going to say how much it was because it would only make you feel bad about how much you paid.

So given this awesomely lovely rate especially, the Inn at Morro Bay was cute, quaint, and exactly what you'd expect from a seaside inn on the water at a small coastal town.

Unfortunately for me, when I arrived at Morro Bay it was FOOOGGGY which really sucks to spend a night on a beautiful waterfront inn, only to not even be able to see the water. Unless I am mistaken, the Inn can't do much about that.

The room was adorable. It had shudder windows/door to the patio and wood ceilings - very nautical-esque, but not in a tacky way. The rooms were on the smaller side, but it's to be expected - it's waterfront property, we're not in Texas here, people!

If I were to come back I would totally stay there, and would even spend twice what I paid.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Inn and were disappointed. Non of the employees were overly friendly. The bartender made us wait for a cocktail server, even though she was doing nothing, the guitar player was not good, so much so that we had to move into the other part of the restaurant. Our server for dinner seemed nervous and the gnocchi I had was very greasy. My wife had the fish special which she said was good but the veggies were bland.
One redeeming aspect was the hot tub on the balcony overlooking the bay. We sat there with our drinks watching the sun go down.
The decor in the rooms was outdated and the fan in the bathroom was cracked and dirty.
Overall it was not good and the owners desperately need to spend some money and update the premises.

Even after reading the mixed reviews, we stayed here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We got a package for $199/night with a full ocean view, private hot tub, fireplace, free champagne, and 2 rubber duckies.

This is what you get with the full ocean view rooms:
A good view, a private hot tub, and a fireplace that only has an "on/off" switch, no thermostat". Expect to wake up in the middle of the night if your room gets too toasty. The hotel is within a state park. where you can see lots of birds in trees. (This is also evidenced by their "marks" on your car). The free rental bikes were handy for a day trip. They aren't the most modern bikes, but they are good enough to get into town.

This is what you don't get:
Good, dependable service. Service was good when you could get it, but I found them frequently busy. They forgot about one of my requests, and there seemed to be other customers who had to wait for service. Air conditioning in rooms is not there. Apparently State Park regulations doesn't allow them to have A/C emissions. Rooms are not big or modern, and the bathrooms are kind of small. This is an older facility that is decent inn style.

All in all, if you think what you get outweighs what you don't, then stay at the Inn. I personally think the view, hot tub, and duckies more than made up for the older facilities and unreliable service.

Excellent!  Beautiful location and views, clean rooms, and friendly staff.
    Highly recommend this place.
Opt for the ocean view or partial view to get the private outdoor hot tub on your balcony ( drained and sterilized prior to your check in ).
    Best value on highway 1.

When we rounded the curve and saw the beautiful inn, we were happy.  It went downhill after that, but not steeply downhill.  Check in was painless, and our upstairs beach side room was attractive and well done.  We checked in shortly after 4PM and we had bought the discounted dinner certificate and made a reservation for 5:30 to be in the dining room at sunset.  When we walked over to "Orchid" the dining room, it was empty.  I went back to the front desk and was told: "Oh, someone should be there in a few minutes!"
Well, the tables were not set up, and finally I asked the bartender over in the bar, and I was told "Oh..they close that on Monday and Tuesday during the winter."  So, we went elsewhere to eat.
We were looking forward to using the hot tub out on our deck when we came back after dinner, but be forewarned:  It is not as private as it first appears.  The balconies extend out toward the water to a point, but the side walls do not go out very far, so if you are thinking of a nude session in the hot tub, your neighbors may be watching.  Or in our case, they put a family with kids RIGHT next to us even though there were plenty of empty rooms on either side.
Finally, the shower.  They need to glass enclose the little shower pan so that the bathroom does not get flooded.  Imagine going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and stepping into unseen ice cold water.  The shower head sprayed in every direction except where it was supposed to.

This is a lovely property. The rooms are spacious, and some include whirlpool spas on the private balconies.
Now, these spas are clean, and very nice indeed, but they use so much hot water both when being used and when being cleaned in the mornings that getting a hot shower is really difficult. I asked the management to look into the issue, and they told me to wait a while and try again. When I called back hours later, someone else told me that I might have better luck showering early (like 6 am) in the morning. Wow. Yeah, that is exactly what I want to hear when I'm on vacation.
Other than that though, this is a great hotel for a quiet and romantic weekend of staying in and soaking in the tub. Get the AAA discount if you can.

Reviews for the Inn  at Morro Bay were very mixed on tripadvisor, but we were comforted by their Yelp reviews and took the plunge.  I just couldn't resist the idea of an oceanfront room with a private deck and hot tub overlooking the bay.

We were overall happy with the room. The building is quite old but they have renovated at least the oceanview rooms. Our king bed had an older mattress but they tried to update it by adding a one inch down mattress pad over it.  It wasn't the best bed I've ever slept on, but it was fine for 2 nights.  The room also had a nice fireplace and the view from the deck was to-die-for.  We peered straight out over Morro Bay and at the infamous Morro Rock -- egrets, albatross, sea lions, pelicans, etc galore swam/flew around us.  Hot tub was great the first night but sadly had a technical malfunction the 2nd night.

The Inn also gives out beach cruiser bikes so we rode ours into town for many rounds of BBQ oysters and visits to local seafood shacks.

Views of Morro Bay and Rock, this hidden hotel looks very unassuming. When you enter the restaurant, you immediately notice panoramic views of the bay through the floor to ceiling windows.

Perfect restaurant for friends and family to enjoy brunch or dinner. I've been here for Christmas and Thanks Giving several times. Food is excellent and surpass every expectation on every visit. Menu is geared toward more traditional American fair that have been tweaked to appease the modern city dweller palette.   Good on so many levels.

    LEAVE HAPPY.

This place was an amazing getaway for my GF and i when we lived in Santa Barbara.  If you go on a Sun-Thursday, they have a package (or at lease used to) where you get a hotel room w/ a partial ocean view and a 60 dollar voucher for the restaurant for between 180 and 200.  Thats a ridiculous deal.  The restaurant is quite good, however if you want you could go to dinner elsewhere and either booze up and eat some dessert there or booze up and get appetizers.

The little hot tubs on the balcony are great, they are not the sweetest hot tubs i have ever seen but they do the job.  Fireplaces are also key.

Service is great, i remember we needed a knife for some cheese and the lil 16 year old bell boy was running t our door in seconds.  Literally running.  Poor guy tho, i think he has seen some interesting couples action there or something bc he seemed very scared coming to the door.

I have yet to find a place that is this good of a deal, and that package is a steal.

One of the most lovely hotels I have stayed in, ever.  The staff is friendly and gracious and the place is located in a bird sanctuary right on the bay.  My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and they upgraded us to a full-bay room.  The staff suggested the 'Rock and Romance' package which was an excellent pick.

The bathroom was incredible - rock and tile with an enormous shower and two showerheads.  There is a hot tub on the balcony, which overlooks the water.  Added bonus - wine and wonderful truffles delivered nightly to our room.

I would suggest staying here - it is worth the money and I promise you will experience a relaxing stay.

This is where I asked my wife to marry me.  I wanted somewhere that we could visit years down the road that would make us remember being that in love again..

I made a wise choice -- this was rated one of the top places in 'Southern California Places to Kiss' as a lodging spot.  It's because you are near a sanctuary, so you get the feeling of nature, with a high-quality room (fireplace and a mini hot tub on the balcony) and gorgeous view of Morro Bay, Morro Rock, and the Pacific Ocean.

Morro Bay itself is a great little town that almost seems like time forgot it, and this is the best hotel option in town.

My fiance and I stayed here a few weeks ago, coming from Hearst Castle.  When we showed up, there was no record of our reservation whatsoever (we booked through Expedia).  Granted to say, I was piiiiissed.  First we had though the hotel messed up our reservation but after talking to an Expedia representative, it was very obvious it was Expedia's fault (they had wired the money to a different inn with simiar name).

The hotel was fully booked and we were stranded. :(   The receptionist (Jason? Justin?) went beyond his call of duty to help us.  Finally someone ended up checking out a day early and there was a room vacant!

We would have given 4 stars had it not been the quality of the inn.  For a 3 1/2 stars hotel, we were disapointed.  The room was mediocre, nothing spectacular.  And the Yelpers are correct, there were bird poops everywhere!

We would not come back here, in fact, we would probably not come back to Morro Bay as there was absolutely nothing to do there!

We got one of the spa rooms, which had a nice view of the bay. The view was especially great from the spa - very relaxing after a long drive. Loved the fireplace in the room, and the robes were a pleasant plus. The buildings aren't new and there is no wifi in the rooms, but that's not really why you should go to Morro Bay. The setting is beautiful, the grounds are wonderfully maintained. The mushroom bisque in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. This is a great place to relax, and just enjoy the scenery, hiking, nearby kayaking and more.

My boyfriend proposed to me on the beach at Morro Bay and then we stayed at the Inn for a romantic evening. The guy at the reception gave us a free bottle of champagne, on ice! So sweet!! Room 320 is great - it's oversized with a couch and more privacy on the patio with personal hot tub. It also had an electric fireplace. It took a Long Time for the room to heat up - of course we were there in winter and it was pretty cold out. But once the fireplace was on a while, things got nice and toasty. Nothing like taking a tub and then coming into a nice warm room with fire ambiance!! Oh - and the bathrobes they give you are HEAVENLY.

The rooms right in front of the bay didn't have very private patios at all, so I was glad we stayed in the building in the back. We did see a few of the rooms - the Full Bay room has great views if you'll be there during the day to take advantage of them. Otherwise I thought the partial bay rooms were just as good and saves you some money. Overall the rooms were great - the only thing I was less impressed with were the bathrooms. They could really use some renovation. The rooms that didn't have hot tubs on the balcony appeared to have better bathrooms.

We didn't eat at the restaurant but it looks very nice, as does the bar area. Full breakfast buffet in the morning but you have to pay for it. $10-12 bucks per person I think.

(Sidenote: We ate at Dorn's in town - the best food I've tasted in a long time. The halibut was out of this world.)

Overall - love the Inn at Morro Bay - nothing beats having your own personal hot tub (as long as you get one with a little more privacy so your naked self isn't on display to other guests as you hop in!). I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay, and for me, it will always be a wonderful memory.

We chose to spend our first wedding anniversary in SLO and after scouring the internet for reviews of the place (Yelp I suppose was in its infancy at the time), we took a chance and decided to stay at the Inn At Morro Bay.

The first positive was when I called to make reservations and they gave us a double discount for being a AAA member and that it was our anniversary!

Back when we stayed here reviewers had mentioned the place was a little dated but I thought the room was fine and totally loved the fireplace and the hot tub that came with our room (ALERT: reading other reviews, it seems that not all rooms have hot tubs anymore!  I'd confirm that first if you go).  The inn is up against the bay with a beautiful view of Morro Rock.  Even though the lot is also next to a bird sanctuary the critters cannot be heard from inside the rooms and the area really is quite serene.

The Morro Bay Golf Course is situated just across the street from here and a free bucket of balls was included with our stay.  So we checked out the range but didn't play the course.  We weren't really into the game back then but we knew that if we ever did pick it up, we'd be back to play this course.  How could we not? The views were absolutely spectacular!!

The only thing that I wasn't thrilled about were the bathrooms.  If they haven't already, they need to update those.  I used flipflops in the shower because the tile inside was turning black--ICK.  Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at this boutique hotel.

I can't believe you have to pay $6 per 24 hours for internet access in your room.  Here I sit trying to get some work done where I have to upload files to my company's server, and it takes so long the software keeps timing out.  Facebook doesn't show up at all.

The room is ok, gorgeous patio and I am looking forward to swimming in the pool.  But crap, if I can't get my work done then I'll be working tomorrow... in their lobby where wifi is free.  Seriously???  Why not extend that throughout your establishment?  Ridiculous in this day and age.
