3 reviews for Inn At Duck Creeke
When I walked into this inn, I immediately loved it because it smelled like the attic of my childhood house: musty old books and wood. I'm so sick of the generic Holiday Inn/Days Inn/Motel 6 air freshener/old cigarette smoke smell and this just brightened my day after a 5 hour drive from Boston Logan to Wellfleet.
Call me crazy, though, but I think that if night temperatures are getting down to the 40's, you should have heat turned on in your hotel. Or, if not, make sure your quilts are made of goose down. Our room was almost the same temperature as outside, which was freezing, and the extra blankets we asked for and received were flimsy little decorative things with holes in them. I spent both nights shivering and unable to sleep - not solely because of the cold, but mostly. The other reason was that the walls were so thin you could hear your neighbors snoring as though their mouths were pressed to your ear.
Also, the hot water only lasted 15 minutes. 15 minutes is fine for a single shower, but when 3 people are in the same room all trying to get ready for a wedding, that doesn't really work out.
And the complimentary breakfast buffet consisted of cereal, bagels, crabapples, one banana, and coffee/tea. Each time something ran out, one of us had to go to the front desk and tell them... because nobody was checking.
However, the Wifi worked fine for me, and everyone was extremely friendly. Cold is just a dealbreaker for me though, and if I were to go back I'd have to pick somewhere else to stay.
We stayed here during an August heat wave and they were not equipped, understandably, for that so it was uncomfortable for that reason. Otherwise it is charming and well-located but when I go back to the Cape, I will look for other accommodations that are more up to date and with internet access as it was pain to go to the library parking lot with our computers and surf from there.

wellfleet's a lovely little town, and this is a nice little inn, particularly if you want to get away from it all, and live a little slower.
note: they say they have wifi. i couldn't connect during our stay due to weakness of signal.
