I personally stepped in Inky's with a few of my friends solely for its pizzas (which I found to be remarkable), so your mileage may vary. After having some of the best pizzas in town at Pizza Papalis, I wanted to see how the other places stack up.

The surrounding neighborhood is a bit lacking although the police station is right across the street. Inky's retains its mom-and-pop atmosphere -- albeit slightly menacing -- by its green, minimal, and clearly outdated decor. If I were to take a guess, I'd say that the dining area dates back to the pre-1980's. The buzzer system indicating the readiness of orders never ceased to amuse me all throughout lunch.

The 3-page menu was quick and easy to skim, with pizzas and appetizers taking nearly a page and pastas and sandwiches taking up the last two. Just as a note, a friend discovered that the pastas were not made in house.

Not wanting to cope with a bulging stomach for the rest of the afternoon, I opted to share a large two-topping pizza with two of my dining companions -- half pepperoni and green peppers, half ham and pineapple. The pizza was layered as follows: green peppers, cheese, pepperoni, tomato sauce, and the light airy crust. The emphasis lies on the flavorful pepperoni, as a good four layers can be expected in every bite. A liberal sprinkle of parmesan cheese added a sharp saltiness to the well-balanced pie and made it that much more delicious.

The pizza wasn't exactly of the same caliber as Pizza Papalis, but it certainly had its own charms. $12.40 for a large pizza of such quality is quite the deal, imo. Prepare for a 25-minute wait when ordering. Just sayin'.

Inky's is hands down my favorite pizza on earth.  I've been eating it  since I was born and could eat solid food.  I grew up in Toledo but have since moved away, but I am certain to make a visit here at least a couple times a year.  The sauce is seasoned like no other pizza I've ever had.  The pepperoni doesn't taste like it came from a package and was just thrown on, it tastes like it is a fresh and well chosen ingredient.  The cheese is thick and tasty and my god the crust, it is incredibly flaky and baked properly.

I don't typically eat much else besides the pizza.  My family enjoys their steaks, though they seem a little fatty to me.  This is what a wholesome family dining experience is supposed to be.  It's not too loud, there aren't annoying parties of people (unless it's my family during Christmas) and the prices are reasonable.

The service can be somewhat iffy at times, but only when it's jam-packed on Friday nights.  They have plenty of wine and beer to choose from (snobs need not apply however...there may or may not be any imports here).  I love this place and it's hard eating any other pizza because Inky's will spoil you.  Well done Inky's, well done.
