My husband I go to Ingeborg's every time we are in Solvang to take treats home and buy some gifts. Every time we have gone the gal behind the chocolate counter is very kind and patient while we pick out our chocolates. This last trip - the girl who helped us was especially sweet to us (I always find if I smile and I am nice -I always get good service in return).
Being Swedish I know my Scandinavian chocolates. This is like a perfect combination of American and Scandinavian chocolate. I get dark chocolates and the hubby loves the milk chocolates. Over the years we have tried caramels, turles, peanut butter bars and cups, covered nuts - you name it. TRULY AMAZING. -

Like other Solvang restaurants and bakeries, this place is also expensive.
However, I really like the products at this place. I am completely in love with their caramel covered in dark chocolate with sea salt. It's probably one of the best I've ever had outside of 5-star dining restaurants. My boyfriend fell in love with their old soda bar, ordered a traditional root beer float and he LOVED it. He's a self proclaimed root beer float connoisseur and if he liked it then I guess that means something. I had a taste of it and I guess for root beer, it was good. I've just never had a taste for it so my opinion really isn't valid. I also ordered a cappuccino from the bar, and theirs was really good. I like a thick cappuccino coming my way here and there, it reminds me of having breakfast in Italy so that's a plus.
My boyfriend also bought a couple of other chocolate items that I had some bites out of. All of it was very good and very rich. None were better than the salted caramel though. JUST sayin'. Hint. Hint. HINT. -

This place is right on the main strip of Solvang and if you have a sweet tooth it's a good place for a cure. They have some really unique things for sale and and some cold treats if it's a hot day. I got the chocolate dipped cheesecake and it was amazing! My cousin got a chocolate dipped banana and she is still talking about it a day later. The reason why I get it three stars is because of the lack of service. They weren't excessively busy but the high school girls took their time in finishing their conversation and serving us our very simple order. It is a little pricey but what can you expect from a tourist town.
I would suggest stopping in here even if only to look around. It's an authentic chocolate shop and has something everyone will love. -

Dark chocolate FTW. Milk chocolate is okay too.
I had their dark chocolate almond turtle with almonds. Delicious. Perfect blend of sweet caramel, crunch almond, and not-sweet dark chocolate. It was the perfect late afternoon snack on the roadtrip.
I got my hubby the dark chocolate dipped, marshmallow center on a wafer...he liked it, but he felt that the marshmallow came out of a jar.
Prices = reasonable. They're not dirt cheap, but I left paying under $4.00 for two 'candies'.
They also have ice cream and assorted chocolates/truffles. -

Expensive food, bad service, horrible management and altogether rude employees who give Solvang, CA a bad name. Would have loved to try any of the licorice products, but didn't get the chance.
So we were looking for parking all over Solvang. We find some behind Ingeborg's and pull into a spot where "INGEBORG'S ONLY" is written on one of the parking stops. My 8 month old son is starving, so my wife begins nursing him while I go around to the front to buy something from Ingeborg's so that the "INGEBORG'S ONLY" part is upheld.
After I purchase some candy and am walking back to where my car is supposed to be, my beautiful wife calls me to tell me that she was basically ordered out of the spot by someone identifying themselves as an Ingeborg's employee, and the space was for employees only. Keep in mind my wife had JUST began nursing our infant son, and to interrupt him upset him quite a bit. My wife tried explaining that I was currently in the store and a paying customer of Ingeborg's, this wasn't good enough for the shop's employee. So my wife, who is really sweet and doesn't like conflict and wished to avoid it left while our son screamed his poor head off.
I got very hot with anger at this - what the heck kind of place does this? You interrupt a nursing mother? Is this Solvang? Is this Santa Barbara County?? Is this AMERICA???
I now have to walk across Solvang to get to my wife, she had to find parking elsewhere. The front of the store is on my way, so I decide to return the candy. I tell the lady I purchased the candy from five minutes ago, "I don't want this anymore." Several moments go by and a manager of some sort opens the bag I presented and says, "Oh, sorry we don't accept chocolate," I explain that I never even touched the package of chocolate - her employee grabbed it off the counter, put it in a small white bag and then handed the small white bag to me. I said I didn't want it because I got a disturbing phone call about the way one of their employees treated my wife.
The manager got really defensive, and began trying to explain and said how "You need to see this from our point of view," I interrupted her, informed her that I in fact did NOT need to do that, and that I just don't want to give her my business. She also tried to tell me that it was clearly marked as employee parking. I reiterated that it WAS NOT marked for EMPLOYEES, and that I did not want to argue and that I did not want to be a customer anymore.
Congrats Ingeborg's, you won the parking space and lost this customer and anyone else who cares about breastfeeding their babies, decency, manners and America. -

Now, I'm not a die hard chocolate fan, so to be wooed by chocolate it has to be so out of this world orgasmic type of chocolate, ya know?
I was told that I must try this one thing. Well, I felt the earth shake when I was in this store. Did you hear me moan? It tasted so freakin awesome (although I can't even remember the actually name of it)!!!
All I know is that it was a cup filled with rich espresso, melted fresh chocolate and a scoop of ice cream. It was outstanding. I could eat this as my last meal on earth. (Well, if there were no beef or sushi around...)
The shop is a local landmark and although I'm sure get's its fair share of tourists, has a very high level of quality chocolate. I was very impressed. -
Review from Kelly W.
This is a really cute chocolate shop that thankfully had ice cream as it was 90 degrees outside and I was melting away! I wished I could have taken some chocolates home with me because they sure looked fantastic. They had really cute molds for their chocolate...like little cars...or tools...super cute.
We made our way over to the ice cream counter and got two scoops of heaven and we were able to sit inside and relax for a few minutes while we got out energy back!Listed in: My Solvang Adventure

An aimless walk through the street of Solvang led me to Ingeborg's. Not sure why I keep walking into candy stores, I can't eat sugar....perhaps it's my own sick twisted way of torturing myself.
Earlier in the day John H. and I received some horrible service at a wine bar and we speculated if the entire town of Solvang was conspiring against us having any fun.
Then we walked in Ingeborg's. Suddenly we were the town's VIPs. We were warmly greeted by a friendly face behind the counter who offered us samples of a raspberry truffle.....that was so creamy and rich I wanted to roll around in them all after noon.
Ok, so I had a little bit of sugar. I'm weak.
While I stood there devouring the tiny piece of decadent truffle I asked if they carried any low/non sugar items..... Lo and behold, there was a full display case filled with sugar-free chocolate treats. Awesome!!!
Now if only the rest of town was this friendly.... -

An adorable little mom and pop chocolate shop! Tons to choose from-- homemade chocolates, truffles, and even those hollow-molded chocolates. Great gift ideas, and some imported candies, too. The whole Haribo gummy selection, AND an ice cream shop. I'm a fan!

Cute, cute, cute and good, good, good! This is a classic ice cream parlor and chocolatier. I just had a scoop of vanilla ice cream and boy was it delicious. I love to cook so I recognized the effort that goes into their ice cream. They actually use real vanilla beans! If you wanna know what good vanilla ice cream should taste like, have a scoop here. If their vanilla is this good, then I'm guessing that their other products are the same or better.
Enjoy! -

Yum yum. Ingeborg's is an essential stop for any visit to Solvang. They excellent chocolate as well as a great selection of other Danish and Dutch packaged candy that you can't get anywhere else. The packaging on the candy is usually not in English but you can pretty much guess what the flavors will be like. This is a good place to try salty licorice because the Dutch brand they carry is much milder than the German type that Cost Plus and other stores have.
They have a wonderful selection of chocolate covered dried fruit including orange slices. Be sure to try the marzipan sticks in various flavors - it is probably the best marzipan I have ever had. Even the sugar-free chocolate tastes great (the chocolate covered nuts are better than the bon bons). -

I make chocolates myself, so a lot of the chocolates I can make. HOWEVER, it was the authentic candies, chocolates and packaged items that really sealed the deal.
My grandfather is full Swede and to try the licorice lentils were amazing. Imagine an M&M with a licorice bite at the end. Wonderful (bought some of those!) I also bought some licorice coins for my Grandfather. We also bought some cookie/wafers to have to snack on during our trip (which we did) :-)
The gal there was amazingly helpful and friendly. They ship, so I can get my fix whenever I need it, or can have stuff sent to my grandfather.
It's a cute little shop, and I suggest people support her shop. It's not the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (why is there one in Solvang?), because it is more genuine to it's Scandinavian roots. I say if you are going to support a chocolate shop in Solvang, support Ingeborgs! -

I have been coming to this place for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Solvang and although I now live in Northren California this is one of the 3 places in Solvang that I always stop by when I get anywhere near the town.
They have wonderful home made chocolates that are just as good now as they were 25 years ago. They have other things too, a great licorice selection, ice cream and other fun candies. I actually don't care for sweets much but this place is the best! My favorites are the Dark Chocolate Orange and Milk Chocolate Mint Sticks, also the sort of pretzel shaped chocolates (name start with a Krege...?) are really good pure stuff and the nut barks are great as well.
If you go to Solvang you must go here!
Lisa if you ever see this Chris Odell says hello (Ron Odell's son) and I remember how kind you and your husband were to me, thank you! Also thank you for making such great treats :) -

As soon as i entered the store it was like the fantasy i had as a 6 year old has come true! Candy and chocolates displayed under brights lights (and coffee for the adults). It was 5 in the evening on the Thanks Giving Weekend and most of the shops had closed. We headed here to have yummy latte topped with whipped cream. Its the holidays, so wasn't counting calories :) and at Ingeborg's you don't get judged ;)

Real Danish treats by weight, and where else do they top your ice cream with a Flødeboller?

Cool set up at this confectionery shop which includes an ice cream counter. Very cool treats made on the premises, most notably, chocolates of many, many varieties. Also included are Scandinavian specialties like lingonberry preserves, of which I grabbed a bottle of to send to a distant friend. Also a box of chocolates for the office. My travel companion also grabbed some treats for his family. It's a little pricey here, but good to know so many things at Ingeborg's are made in-house.

Not sharing Ingeborg's with the Yelp masses is a total travesty! This is a Danish candy store par excellence. If you have a special sweet tooth for marzipan, they make these great dark-chocolate covered marzipan bonbons. Way better than See's. They also carry other interesting candies, like the salty black Danish licorice. Maybe an acquired taste, but once you get it - yum.

YUM. The samples of milk chocolate were so yummy we just had to buy some extras. Got some chocolate truffles, some chocolate covered pretzels, and a chocolate peanut-butter cup to go. The pretzels were just ok, but the truffles were really tasty. And the service was lovely, despite having just opened a few moments before we walked in. Prices were sometimes a bit hefty, but understood for the kind of store it is in the location it's in. Recommended highly!

What a cute little shop! I love me some chocolate and I was stoked to try this place out. I got an assortment of different kinds, it was hard to choose because they had a lot. My favorite was the chocolate toffee almond - yum! They had chocolate covered ginger that for some reason I thought sounded good, well it was not, I suggest that you do not get it. Not the best chocolate that I have ever had but overall a good experience in a cute little town.

I feel horrible with the three stars, but here's the deal: we went when it was like 90 degrees outside, and got four cones of ice cream. None of the cones was overflowing with ice cream...it was like they were conserving ice cream. And I get it, bad economy and all that, but dude, you are a tourist town. Please serve your tourists properly! Because that cone cost $4.25 (for a chocalate dipped), and to be skimpy with the ice cream is not cool. Especially if we've just spent $17.00 on ice cream.

The women here were very helpful when I was looking for some good black licorice for my mommy. I'm not a big licorice family so I didn't know what was good. They also gave us free samples and WOW that was definitely homemade chocolate... creamy and yummy... no waxy taste like with most commercial chocolates these days. I bought some licorice, a bunch of cherry cordials (my dad's favorite) and some of those marshmellow puffs (forgot the exact name) that were on display on the top of the counter. My dad likes marshmallow so I thought he'd enjoy them. My hubby took a FEW samples, the chocolate was that good! LOL

I am a big fan of Marzipan, and I'm usually disappointed by most places because they make it overly sweet. Not this place -- took home a box of Marzipan chocolates and they were great. I also had a malted milkshake there which was decadent and tasty. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.
