Neighborhood: Kearny MesaBesides Convoy streets awesomeness, I don't particularly enjoy hanging out in Kearny Mesa, with its tons of corporate plazes and stuffy people. However since my own job is at one of these curse-ed places, I have no choice but to spend a considerable amount of time here. I am delighted with Indigo cafe. I'm a vegetarian and they have yummy veggie options here, and I agree with the other people, this place actually has some sort of personality, especially for the location! I recommend the veggie wrap! I'm not head over heels in love with this place, but it at least gives me butterflies in the tummy for my crush on it.
Wow this place is hot...no, not hawt...not hot as in this place is the shiznit (do people even still use that word?)
I mean hot as in sch-weating my balls off hot. As much business that they take in during the lunch rush, you'd think that they can afford an AC unit. Hell...I'd pay to have a block of dried ice and a monkey with a fan to blow cool air inside. I felt like I was in the Philippines up in that place... hot and humid.
Joking aside, the food was actually good. I have to admit that this is my first time here. I tried their Cali wrap which included grilled chicken with seasoning. It came with a side salad which was good. Overall I was satisfied with my meal. The wrap was hot and flavorful and the salad was cool and refreshing.
I will personally donate the first $10.00 for this place to get an AC unit though.
I have never been to the cafe, but I have used them to cater my events.
We have many meetings/trainings were we feed our attendees. We host anywhere from 15 - 60 people, and they do not have a minimum amount for an order. And no delivery fee!
When it comes to feeding our guest, we need and all day menu.
Breakfast- They have full service tea and coffee, muffins, yogurt and fresh fruit. You can choose if you want it all or just some basic fruit and juice. Very healthy start to get a meeting going!
Lunch-Indigo Cafe has a great sandwich and wrap platters. They come with sides which you can choose from pastas or salads. There salad dressings are very flavorful! The Tiffany's salad is everyones favorite! It comes with dessert! Fresh cookie or brownie! They bring a huge pitcher of iced tea or you can ask for can sodas.
They deliver and pick up for you, unless it is a far location, they will put everything in throw away containers, which makes clean up easy! When they come and set up they lay everything out, bring all of the necessities (ie. plates, napkins, utensils) The staff is really nice and come dressed in uniform, well they do have an older lady that has came a few times, she takes a really long time to get things set up!
Tiffany takes care of the catering services and she is very nice and professional, makes doing business with them very easy. I believe they also have another location in downtown, but the catering service is done with this location.

One of my favorite lunch spots, f'sho'.
There's a decent selection of vegetarian stuff there, and it's actually well thought out, not just there so us veggies don't starve. Their soup/salad combo is awesome and always more than enough to fill you up. I especially love their black bean soup, which is always on the menu. The veggie wrap is really good as well, and different than most places. And the smoothies are pretty good too! Sadly, I agree with Ken...the coffee isn't that great. But go for lunch, you won't be disappointed.
The staff there is awesome...they recognized me and knew my name really quickly. During the lunch rush, even when things would occasionally get messed up (forgetting a friend's salad once, for example) they were always quick and courteous to fix it.
Parking sucks, so good luck!
This place is a small, quaint cafe that serves sandwiches, soups, wraps, salads and more. They have weekly specials that include fresh fish and chicken dishes. I ordered the California Wrap and it was really good! It had a hint of spice to it and was super fresh.
They also have a full coffee and smoothie bar.
I wouldn't suggest ordering a smoothie or coffee beverage during the lunch rush though. There was only one person at the register. Everyone else was in the back preparing the food. The atmosphere was just ok. They were playing some cool blues music, but everyone in there was just sitting, there was no conversation. It was an erry quite.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definetly go back. Next time I might just call ahead and take it to go.

I was introduced to my very first wrap at Indigo. Their California Wrap is freakin' DELICIOUS! I've never ordered anything else because, well, why change when something is good?
If you go around lunch time, be prepared to wait. It seems to be a popular place (especially with a school around the corner). Their smoothies are pretty good too albeit a wee bit pricey.
Overall it's a nice atmosphere with some kick ass blues playing in the background. The service? Well, it's be nice if the cashier would smile once in a while. She always looks so pissed off that it brings down the mood of a good, healthy lunch. But I won't dock them, they're food is completely worth it.

Yummy YUMMY sandwiches, and always fresh. They have a really interesting mix of flavors, a lot of stuff you dont find in places. I like the flavored wraps, and their salads always taste super fresh. I'm not a huge fan of their soups, I have a feeling they dont put as much work into the soups as they do into the sandwiches. I recommend anything that involves melty cheeses because this place has the best cheese and tasty breads.
It gets PACKED at lunch time, so come prepared to wait.
Don't get a mocha. They dont know how to make 'em. You'll get a cup of super sweet warm milk, instead.
They serve everything on multi colored plastic dishes, you dont see that too often.
Overall, place is quaint and yummy...have yet to try the smoothies!

Worst...coffee...ever.
The food isn't that bad, though.
Love their sandwhiches and soup! I go here daily. Great place to chill with your friends during lunch time.

This is one spot that I definitely miss after having moved away from San Diego. I often frequented this place for lunch, and my "usual" was the chicken & brie wrap. Occassionally, I'd mix it up with a salad or two, which are also delicious and filling. Lines were usually out the door when I came, but it was well worth the wait. Beats out all the other chains in the area, hands down!

Perfect lunchtime spot! I was at the nearby National University for a workshop that lasted two days, and fortunately one of the locals suggested walking here for lunch. The first day, I got a Chicken & Brie wrap, and it was one of the best wraps I'd ever had. I also got the soup of the day, which was delicious. I grabbed a menu and noticed they also served breakfast, so I planned to come back the next day and get a Carne Asada breakfast burrito. Unfortunately, the next morning I was running late checking out of my hotel so I didn't get a chance to come for breakfast. But I did come back for lunch, and this time I got a roasted vegetable wrap. It was so beautiful I had to take a picture (http://www.yelp.com/us...). I love the oodles and oodles of fresh spinach, and the roasted veggies and fresh goat cheese were a great combination. The service was friendly, even during the busy lunch hour. If I worked in the area, I would certainly be here several times a week. In fact, I wish I could transport this cafe to where I do work. So, those of you in this area, please enjoy it for me!

This is a small place, but they gave us a BIG welcome here! We walked in at around 8:30 on Friday night after having spent all day walking around at the MC-RD. There were 17 of us, and I was surprised that they were even able to accommodate, but they moved around tables with a smile! There was a live band in the corner singing blues. They greeted us as we walked in and asked if it was some body's birthday. When we mentioned that we were not there for a birthday, but because my brother had graduated from the Marine's boot camp, they came over and thanked my brother for his service and sang "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from Company B". It was such a sweet gesture!
I really love the fact that the band interacted with us and even played a little Motown for us! The food was awesome. My daughter and I split a plate- the New York Steak. Oh my GAWD! If I didn't know any better, I would have eaten the whole damn plate! They top the New York strip with creamy Gorgonzola butter, goat cheese mashed potatoes, and a side of vegetables. Every thing was wonderful! I highly recommend Indigo Cafe!

Close to my work it's great for smoothies and some dishes, but I don't like the sandwhiches much, they are shredded lettuce and crappy tomatoes on bread that didn't seem so great.
I recommend the hot items and the smoothies if you're going!

Great small local lunch cafe. Awesome wraps, and freshly made sandwiches. Good hot soup too. Lean sandwich meats and interesting combinations. I'll revisit Indigo Cafe again soon for sure.

After being in the corporate world for 6 years now, I am well aware of the struggle in finding a good lunch spot. This is my FAVORITE place for lunch by my office. I go at least twice a week. You can call and order ahead if you are in a hurry. The waitstaff is friendly and quick....and best of all....the place has a great "blues" theme. The walls are blue with lots of records and posters of blues artists and they always have blues music playing. The owners often write a quote of the day on a chalkboard and have lots of funny jokes and pictures posted around. The food is craveable and healthy as well. I feel so at home in this little joint.....they also have great catering and breakfast.

The quest for the perfect weekday lunch spot is an ongoing ordeal, a constant search for the ideal combination of good food, quick service, and a little bit of atmosphere. The Indigo Cafe absolutely fits the bill. Family owned, it is devoid of the corporate sterile-ness of the neighboring Subway and fast food joints. The Cafe is charmingly designed around a "blues" theme, with indigo walls adorned with old album covers and a rotating selection of tunes piping through the speakers that ranges from Ella to Dr. John. In the Convoy/Kearny Mesa area, this gets major points for atmosphere.
The menu is both healthy and flavorful, consisting of a combination of traditional lunch fare (soups/salads/sandwiches) and more substantial dishes, half of which are Cajun-influenced (jambalaya, grilled chicken breast, red beans and rice). In addition to the menu, daily specials offer a variety of lunch options. The option to combine any soup/salad/half sandwich also adds to the variety, as does the extensive smoothie menu. So points for good (and unique) food.
As for service, the Cafe's operations are pretty swift. Orders are taken at the counter, and within 7-10 minutes of sitting down, brought to your table. Even when the cafe is crowded the wait never seems to be that long. I don't go out for lunch that often, but when I do I almost always head here.
