The convention center is super big, really new....I love it.  I usually walk to work and cut thru the convention center.  I can't believe how clean it always is.   Best of all, it connects to the hotels, the mall, and even Lucas Oil Stadium.

The 2012 Indianapolis New Car Show was forgettable.  Keeps getting smaller and smaller.  Dealers no longer have a presence and the Automaker's rep's do there best to provide local information.

If you are interested in seeing concepts and the wide offerings from the manufacturer's, you better go to Detroit.

According to most of the staff out there this year, this is a dying show with the economy.

I went to see roller derby's North Central regional tournament hosted by the Naptown Roller Girls here last weekend. As convention centers go, this is totally adequate, and you really could not have done better for this type of event in Indy. It was easy to get to and you could purchase tickets at the window right outside the exhibit hall. The lighting was good, the chairs were comfortable and well positioned to see the action, and the bathrooms were convenient and clean. I didn't see any food or drink vendors I really wanted to patronize outside the exhibit hall in the rest of the center, but the location is easily accessible to other options downtown.

There's bike parking in the front of the complex, though there was none to be found near the hall where the tourney took place. I parked across the street at Victory Field. Overall, though, a fine venue. It's no architectural marvel, though it's not the ugliest convention center I've seen either, and it's pretty large complex--there seemed to be at least two other conference-type things happening at the same time with no one stepping on anyone's toes.

(And for clarification: This is a review of the convention center, NOT the tournament, which was FIVE-STAR, A+ AWESOME!!! Viva la derby!)

The convention center is pretty new, but damn. It looks so outdated. The carpet is like hunter green and salmon. Where did they get these colors? The early 90s? This is not okay for modern times. At least make this super long walk somewhat enjoyable.
I was here for a three-day event, one of these days being Friday, a weekday. Why was the closest food court area completely closed?
The concession stand in the area was extremely expensive ($3 for a bottle of water- I guess a dollar more for a bratwurst wasn't too bad).
The seats were weird. Groups of three moved slightly. So when someone  sat within your group of three, you could feel it.
The water pressure in the faucets in the restroom were either super high (so you'd get everything you wore wet) or super low (so you couldn't wash the soap off your hands).

    Not impressed. C'Mon, Indy.

I have been in many convention centers attending trade shows over the years for my job so I can assess them pretty well. This one, even though having gone through a recent renovation and expansion, is decent but nothing spectacular.

Good air conditioning, clean, spacious, all the bells and whistles as I expected. What I did not expect was the lack of food options here. Most convention centers food offerings stink to begin with, so I expected more out of this place. Nope - still mosty crap and not enough healthy options. Also, there just seems to be not enough food stands throughout the facility. Good thing there are a lot of restaurants within walking distance.

What is good about the place is that it is connected to the Circle Centre Mall and close by hotels by a skywalk, so going ouside during inclement weather is not the only option.

Overall, this is a nice serviceable convention center in a convenient location. Easy to get to with hotels, shopping, and dining all within a few minutes walk.

The convention center is really convenient in the sense that many hotels and mall is connected via skybridge.

I've had lots of electrical issues and have heard the same from other exhibitors from other shows.  I partially think that this is due to it being a newer facility and they still need to work out the kinks.

The forklifts all have "white" tires to prevent rubber marks on the spanking new concrete floors.  They definitely look really clean.

They don't turn on the a.c during set-up which can be really miserable during the summer.

Had a good experience with every aspect but rigging. Sooner you get your plan in the better and review it prior to show with the staff.
Electricians were good. Service desk staff great. Close to food and hotels.

The Indianapolis Convention Center is, as convention centers go, one of the nicer ones I've been in.  I'll do my best to avoid coloring my review with the positive experiences I've had at the action conventions, and just stick to commenting on the facilities.

The hallways are wide, which is downright essential when cramming thousands of people into the same building.  One of the nicer things about this particular convention center is that there are at least two ways into every location, allowing one to navigate more freely once the layout is comprehended.  This is barring, of course, any special closures that the particular convention is laying down.  Some of these routes, however, require going into the adjoining buildings via skyway.

What's most depressing is the food prices.  Shelling out nearly $10 for a hotdog, chips and Coke is enough to ruin anyone's good time.  For getting more reasonably priced food, one should journey out to the mall's foodcourt via the skyways if there's an extra fifteen minutes to spend.  Plenty of variety there, and the prices are the typical fastfood prices.

Since I came here for my very first convention, I don't really have much to compare to.

However, I do have to say their space is huge and they have a lot of separate buildings to house people. Their rooms are all spacious and some parts of the building has wifi.

Unfortunate thing is that they do not seem to be very well-controlled, temperature wise. All through the convention, people complained that they turned on the AC on too high, especially when it was around 50 degrees outside and it felt like 30 degrees inside!

They have a pretty small food court - but is is EXPENSIVE. I have to say, my first meal in Indianapolis was in the food court and my sandwich, with a bottle of water, cost $10. That is ALOT for a mediocre COLD sandwich.

Go outside for food. Otherwise, this is a nice place for a convention. Best part is that is it connected to most of the hotels and the mall, which was exceptionally great since it was raining really hard during one of the days.

Attended Gen-Con Indy 2006, which was held here. ICC has one of the largest exhibit halls I have ever seen, and I have seen my fair share.

The second floor is basically filled with multiple conference sized rooms, perfect for the RPG-er's of the Gen-Con group. The hallways are a bit small, however, which is pretty bad when there are thousands of people trying to get from A to B at the same time.

There's a nice food court as well, but of course, the prices are jacked sky-high because of the convenience. There are also multiple "refreshment stands" inside the actual exhibit hall. They mainly have drinks, but also have some finger food like nachos.

Overall, a great place to hold a party, no matter what the size.
