Whenever I have a craving for Indian food, I'm all up in here. I can't help but drool over their dinner buffet. Granted not EVERYTHING is wonderful, but shiet, for like $15 (AND they have a $1 off discount coupon on their website - CHA CHING!!), it's definitely worth it.
They have quite the spread so let me name the losers and the winners. Losers are their fried items, especially their samosas, because everything is way too over fried to be enjoyed. But the numero uno winner is the delicious unlimited supply of naan that I can pile up on my plate. Dip those suckers into any one of the curries and it's MONEY!!

Best Dish: it's a buffet! enjoy everything!
I will be honest, I was not impressed the first time I went here with my roommate. I felt like the food was lacking something, some sort of kick but I really couldn't tell him because he was really hyping the place up for me.
BUT, it was a completely different story the second time around. Everything was delicious, the naan bread here is so fresh and tasty. The service is wonderful, they refill your waters when you are away without bothering you and they refill the food at the buffet line frequently so its always hot and fresh.
If this isn't considered "useful," I don't know what is...
Before you go, visit the website and PRINT OUT THE COUPONS! It's normally just a dollar off your buffet price, but sometimes they have BOGO deals, so always check! =)
We went in for dinner Saturday night, and I have to say that this is the best I ever remember the food being. I mean, it's always good, but Saturday night, it was beyond good.
I'm usually stuffed after 1 trip to the buffet, but the food was so incredible that I felt compelled to go back for seconds (even though I was already full).
The spinach pakoras were "out of sight" delicious. I couldn't seem to get enough of them.

I've tried a few of the other Indian places in S.A., but none of them compare. The Saag Paneer and… Read more »
We have been regulars at India Palace for many years. Although the chef ocassionally has an off day (who doesn't?) the food is usually top notch. We always do the buffet and, every once in a while, add an order of kima naan (naan bread with ground lamb) to our order. Hubby loves the chicken tikka masala and my favorite is the saag paneer. This particular visit (dinner on a Saturday night), there was a new dish on the buffet, fresh spinach pakoras! They took fresh spinach leaves and dipped them in garbanzo bean batter and deep fried them, awesome! I will venture out and try some of the other Indian restaurants in San Antonio, but India Palace will always be "home" for Indian cuisine.
Delish! I've been a few times for the dinner buffet - I knew it was going to be good when I walked in and the place was hustling and half the patrons were Indian! The saag paneer, naan, and curries were all fantastic. I had a taste of everything on the buffet and it was all tasty and fresh! It's hard to find a buffet that's consistent, but India Palace certainly has proven to be just that.
My mom and I absolutely love good Indian food. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed with the lunch buffet. It was certainly packed in there, which I always take as a good sign. The buffet selection is decent, but not exceptional. However, I wouldn't have minded the lack of selection if the food had been flavorful and tasty. The saag paneer (one of my favorite dishes) was more cream than spinach, the tandoori chicken was dry and tasteless, and the overall meal lacked the intense flavor and enjoyable spice that I have come to expect from *good* Indian food. Sorry, but our meal was very mediocre at best.
I'm torn ...I read all these fabulous reviews, and I'm sure they are all valid reviews ...however I wasn't really blown away.
The buffet was good for the price - all your staples were there. Samosas, dals, cauliflower curry, chicken curry. It just wasn't "stellar", if you know what I mean.
Is it worth repeating? I'd say so. I'd probably check it out again...and update my review...
Went up to the chirpy receptionist at the Courtyard where I was staying and asked for some restaurant recs. I didn't have a car so needed to walk somewhere close by. She offered these fine selections: KFC, McDonald's, Taco La Cabana and yes, even Hooters. Funny she didn't mention the closest of all eating establishments: the attractive, friendly and very busy India Palace, located in a strip mall and next to an Indian grocery. I definitely know I had a vastly superior meal than any silly popcorn chicken or buffalo wings served by a set of racks. And homegirl at the Courtyard needs to get out more and try something ethnic.
Get this: for $10.95 you get an amazing dinner buffet --tables full of scrumptious, fresh-tasting, wonderfully flavorful dishes. There were at least 7 or 8 entrees --standouts like a silky smooth chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken with plump, moist breasts and legs, egg curry, chicken curry, a spicy beef dish, vegetable dishes, a chicken biryani, fragrant basmati rice and of course the tenderest naan I have ever had. You just get loads of food, and if you're hungry like the 8-man tag team study group of Indians that walked in, you can certainly satisfy your hunger incredibly.
There were some moments I won't forget: the sumptuousness of these soft, pillow -like vegetable samosas. Perfect for dipping either in the wondrous mint sauce they had or even the raita. Both dressings, actually, surrounded the fresh mixed green salad I served myself. I could have sworn there was some minced mint or cilantro in the salad, it was a refreshing way to start the meal.
Other nice touches: constant taking of your plates so you can get your ass up and grab a new plate to get more food; filling of your water glass all the time; delicious and creamy mango lassis; a seemingly happy crowd of diners coming in and out and being given excellent service all night. Can I also mention the saffron rice pudding that closed out a memorable meal?
Tip: go on the restaurant's website: http://www.indiapalace... and print out the $1 off coupon --make this fine meal even cheaper!
When I discovered Indian food, my life became complete. I work out to Bollywood Booty because I am simply impressed with the way Indian women can eat all that delicious food and still have the curves. I love "Bride and Prejudice" and am a complete Bollywood nutcase.
When my family decided to check out the India Palace buffet on a Sunday afternoon, I wanted Saag Paneer, Samosas, and Naan. What I got at India Palace was Saag Paneer, Samosas, and Naan.
I also got no service and a packed full dining room of rude people. I was not impressed with the atmosphere. There was no television with Bollywood videos and I was completely on guard the whole time, thinking someone was going to bump into me.
I am still waiting to find the perfect India Palace in San Antonio to make a regular, so any suggestions would be a plus.
Normally I don't get to San Antonio very much, so when the boyfriend and I were in the area looking for a place to eat, it was a minor miracle that we tried India Palace.
The food was fantastic and the service was great. My glass of water never dipped below half-full, and I drink a lot of water. I ate so much, it was hard to stop. Everything I tried was delicious - very vegetarian friendly - and the potato and pea samosas were without a doubt the best thing I've eaten in a while. I'm crushed that this place is so far from my normal stomping grounds.
I just had the buffet and it was amazing. The turnaround on the food was quick - probably because so many people were eating it. I tried to eat a little of everything, and I found the karhi pakora, saag paneer, and chicken tiki masala the best of the bunch. The naan was fresh and good, too.
For dessert, the melon custard had a nice flavor, but it was a soup, not a custard. The gulab jamun was outstanding and reminiscent of a tres leche cake.
I'm definitely not Indian, but after this trip, I wish I was. Indian Palace is a wonderful Indian restaurant that has a lot to offer, and the buffet is worth the trip.
India Palace made me a happy traveler in San Antonio. I partook of the lunch service and found it to be delicious and affordable. I loved all the meat curries. The keema (ground lamb with peas and spices) was awesome topped with mint chutney and scooped up with fluffy naan (flatbread) There were also some delightful ovo-lacto options to balance out the meats. Three cases in point, vegetable biryani, sag paneer (creamed spinach with homemade cheese), and egg curry. There were three dessert options: mango pudding, gulab jamun (rosewater cakes), and rice pudding. I only had room to try the gulab jamun and it was delish.
One bit of weirdness was that the vindaloo (chicken and potatoes stewed in hot spices) tasted more like a Mexican chipotle dish. Very tasty nonetheless.
The staff were cordial and attentive. My used dishes were bussed immediately and my water glass was kept full. I will be going back the next time I'm in S.A.!
this place reminded me so much of my fave place back home called Naan & curry. They have a buffet which is great when you're not trying to spend so much and have a big appetite. the place seems like it's packed alot. if you call ahead for pick up orders it's alot easier, i recommend the chicken tikka masala and rice and even plain naan. it's a little pricy but hey a once in a while thing doesn't hurt.
the staff was a little rude but yea, i'm used to that from previous experiences. but the food is great. i do warn people who aren't used to this food to have some tums or maloxx available, the stuff can be spicy. ^_^ *YUMMY*
I absolutely love the food here. The people are friendly, but I always come back for the food. Really, it's so good, I would frequent this restaurant even if they were super rude. The buffet has a great selection (especially for an Indian cuisine novice). I particularly like the chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, and, of course, the warm and soft naan.
I highly recommend the lunch buffet for it's selection and value.
When I moved here I tried all the Indian places and this one is THE BEST! Nothing rude about this place except for the occasional ditzy customer. So grab your naan, scoop the curry, open wide, and eat all you want. Sooo goood!!!
This place had a tasty Indian buffet, reasonable prices, and good service.
Now I know why Alli goes there weekly. :)
Came back here twice in the past week and for a long time I had absolutely NO clue until just recently that they served my favorite nan in the whole wide freakin world: Kashmiri nan! $2.50 for 4 pieces... and so fresh... so hot!
p.s. Oh and as an FYI - they moved from the original location (next to Dominos) to a few doors down. Same shopping center but more in the middle now.

Very good Indian food here. Lunchtime is always busy. The Current usually has a coupon for IP and… Read more »
Went here for dinner the other day with some friends as a study break and was glad we did.
The buffet has a good assortment of various Indian dishes from Saag paneer to Dal to Chicken Tiki Masala. Because the place is so busy, the food turnover is really quick and food seems to always be fresh.
I've always had great experiences at this restaurant. It's more cost-efficient to eat the buffet. When my friends are in from Austin we always go here to eat dinner. It tends to get crowded at times, but this does cause the cooks to keep dishes coming and the food's always fresh!
The wait staff is very on top of things clearing dishes from the table and refilling drinks! And I know one time I went here to eat the manager gave me and my friend about 3 or 4 coupons each for $2 off the buffet!
I absolutely LOVE the chicken tikka masala and plain naan... and the Khir for dessert is the best way to go!
Tried this place out of convenience, it is a good spot for a friend and I to meet for lunch and very close to my home/work. We tend to go a little later at lunch (1ish).
The buffet is reasonably priced, and the servers are super friendly. I arrived before my friend and the man that seated me in the back room asked for a description of my friend so that he could bring her to the table, which I thought was really nice.
The food was great as was the selection, but one complaint: Our first trip to the buffet, there was one large plate left, otherwise only salad ones; one piece of naan left; and maybe a spoonful of rice. I tried to just chalk it up to the fact that we got there at the end of lunch rush. Second trip there were still no big plates. This made me try small portions of different dishes which is probably a good thing for my stomach, but it still annoyed me. Nonetheless, we're definitely gonna go back.
One of THE most frequented and popular Indian restaurants in San Antonio. They serve a lunch and dinner buffet. Interestingly enough the food does not change from lunch to dinner - only that the price goes up by a few dollars. High traffic and turnover of dishes ensures fresh and hot food. One of my regularly frequented restaurants, when I was a medical student and intern here - just down the street from the health science center and a favorite of many medical professionals & practitioners.
Not the greatest Indian food in SA, but definitely cheap. They have a dinner buffet with a dollar off coupon from their Web site, which is awesome. Nothing very spicy in the buffet, but a satisfying smattering of Indian food. Sometimes you really need a samosa.
um the buffet is seriously the greatest ever!!!! totally inexpensive for the quality of food. great deserts and my personal fav. dish is the chicken tikka masala. AWESOME! they are really nice and they just moved, but are still in the same shopping center. it satisfies my every ethnic craving.
