Review from Aimee W.
So we tried it again for lunch. They have a nice lunch buffet with veggie, chicken and beef options. I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. They had the following:
Chana Masala
Chicken 65
Chicken Masala
Beef Curry
Vegetable curry (delicious)
Veggie Pakora
Veggie Samosa
Some veggie cabbage dish
Tandoori chicken
Rice pudding
Mango pudding
some balls in syrup - maybe Gulab Jamun?
And who knows what else but everything I tried was good. Water was plentiful, the food at the buffet didn't run out and it was lovely.
I wouldn't mind trying some of their other dishes - but nothing that would melt the face off someone.
Okaybye.

Overland Park, KS
I have had take out before and ordered the chicken tikki masala and it was just OK. On this visit went there for the buffet, I ordered a soda and was never offered a refill. They had broccoli Nana (gross) on the buffet instead of regular so I asked for regular and the waiter said no. I thought maybe he didn't understand so I asked again and he said no. I had a goat dish it was very bland. The writing that identified the dishes on the buffet were illegible. I won't be back. I make better Indian food at home .

Lunch is buffet...much like other restaurants of its kind. Stand outs include the free Chia Tea (yum, perfect ending to the meal). Two observations: an employee was constantly checking the buffet to update the dishes - everything looked bountiful. Second, we took up a booth for more than two hours and never felt rushed to leave or like we were intruding. (Always remember to up the tip when you take up a table for that long :) Good stuff

I will not recommend this since I had a bad experience here. I like Korma Sutra.. I had dinner at Korma sutra and I loved it..

We've been enjoying meals here since 1994 and for my money, this is the best Indian lunch buffet in Kansas City.
Consistently good, fresh and varied lunch buffet with attentive service. The chicken Tikka Masala and Veggie Korma are my favorites. The spice blend on the Veggie Korma is incredible, almost flowery.
India Palace is addictive. When we've gotta have it, we've gotta have it, and we've made many a 70-mile drive from north of KC to eat there. -

I've been to both the buffet and for lunch and dinner service. Staff is friendly and discreet and the food is wonderful (and if you leave any leftovers, they'll be delicious too).
Easy parking, easy to find. -

Went to the lunch buffet today. The service was great the food was pretty average. The chicken masala was dry and everything really lacked in spices. This was my first time going here, if I come back I will try ordering off the menu.

I can't tell which is better India Palace or Korma Sutra in Westport. I have never had a bad take out experience here. It's true I have only done take out but with a picky eating little one in tow we don't ever get to go sit here. I read a review of this place a few years ago and they said it was the best chicken tikka masala and I think we've gotten it each of the dozen or so times we order. The saag paneer is equally out of this world. Not to mention my favorite garlic naan. You get a lot of food for the money and the leftovers heat up as good as the first time.

I work within walking distance of this place and it never gets old. Very good, but typical lunch buffet. Highlights are the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Tandoori is better than most. It can get exceptionally crowded at the height of lunch hour so it is best to show up at 11:30 right when they open. The buffet runs almost $10.
It's also closed Tuesdays. -

Another Full Moon Week, Crazy Customers !
Had to treat myself to a nice lunch, my co-worker suggested we gat an order to go of the Curry Beef over rice. Lunch was $ 20, but it was alot, enough to feed 4 people.
This place definitely fixed my feelings !
Great Flavorful Food !! -

Sometimes, around 10 am my mouth will start to water for the rich flavor of Indian Food. India Palace's lunch buffet is the perfect cure. It is great for India food lovers and amateurs alike, because the buffet allows one to indulge in their favorites as well as explore new tastes without committing to one entree.
The vegetable korma and chicken masala are definitely the best. Included in the buffet which runs around 10 dollars, you get warm Nan(Indian bread), rice pudding and other Indian desserts as well as chai tea.
They are opened in the evenings and offer off the menu dining. Although they are not open all day on Tuesdays..Ironically the day I seem to crave Indian food the most.
India Palace is definitely an affordable way to enjoy authentic Indian Cuisine. The wait staff is attentive and overall an India Palace lunch is the perfect way to jump start a Monday afternoon! -

Good choice for lunch buffet!!!
I love Indian lunch buffets for the variety and this place certainly delivers! They have two buffet carts; one vegetarian and one full of meat dishes. This place had about 10 different items including some very fresh naan and some very tasty chicken tikka masala, my favorite. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed the Chicken 65, chicken and veggies in a spicy red curry, even more than the tikka!
For dessert they had fresh fruit, mango and rice puddings and gulab jamun. The salad bar boasted a large selection of pickles and chutneys as well. Also available, complimentary chai lattes.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and easy to communicate with. My water was always full and they frequently tended the buffet and replenished it, even at 1:30.
I will return again next time I'm in town! -
Review from Jen D.
As we entered India Palace the other night, four gentleman enthusiastically greeted us, before one of them led us to our booth for the evening. I was dining with a friend who had never had Indian before (gasp!). We started with an appetizer which included a meat samosa, chicken pakora, and a lamb kabob. The lamb was very dry, my friend who is a lamb lover, settled for one bite. The meat samosa was also dry and lacked spice, but the pakora was tasty. My friend also ordered the coconut soup, which also lacked the rich flavor she was expecting, and resembled watered down coconut milk.
Our entrees included chicken korma and lamb curry. Portion sizes are very large, definitely enough for a meal or two of leftovers, especially if you order naan. Overall, I have to report that we felt our food was under seasoned, however the service was exceptional and our glasses were never less than half full.
They were not serving the buffet during the evening hours, but it looked pretty large. I believe they also had complimentary chai, but we opted to pass on that.
India Palace is ok, I would not recommend it over Taj Palace on 39th or my personal favorite, Kababesh Grill. -
Review from Ryan A.
Decent Indian food. Having had several curries now, they tend to be about average. Certainly nothing wrong with them, just nothing super special that I've found so far. Saag paneer is above average, but the best thing I've ever had there is the Seekh kebab. Outstanding. Not sure why I'd ever get anything else.
Probably the best thing about the place is the service. Attentive, quick, and friendly. -

My favorite Indian place in the area. Un-pretentious, great menu, great taste, excellent service. They know me and my husband already, for we go at least twice a month.
The lunch buffet is pretty decent, but if you really want to see what good Indian is, you better ask for a menu. Make sure you drink their Chai... Mmmm!
My signature dish: Beef Korma. That's what I usually ask for. And their Chicken Biryani is pretty good as well. -

Go for dinner first, the lunch buffet will not give you the true sense of the quality and variety they have.
The service gets better every time we visit this place. The Chai tea is the best I have had at a restaurant.
If you are new to Indian, the buffet might give you the wrong impression of the quality of the food because it does not have a great variety and most dishes are in the spicy side. Take your time and go with friends to truly sample what they have. It is well worth the money. -

The Sunday lunch buffet is very good. Their butter chicken is definitely my favourite on the buffet. The restaurant is nice and quiet with very attentive servers, parking is easy, and the decor is very functional.

I've been to most of the Indian restaurants in KC and this is my favorite! It's north Indian cooking in case you're trying to decide between a southern or northern style restaurant. But northern cooking is my favorite and have never been disappointed there with the service or food. Buffet is great but the dinner meals are even better!!! Now I'm hungry!

The food is generally great. However on my last visit the Tandoori Chicken was raw in the middle. When I reported it, they didn't even check the remaining chicken on the steam table. If I go back at all, I certainly won't have the chicken.

One of the better Indian restaurants in KC (not saying much). There are a couple dishes that are actually excellent -- mainly the paneer dishes. Quite good for dinner. If I didn't have really high standards for Indian food, I'd probably give this place 4 stars.

I'll agree with everything "Personull" said, except the licorice stuff. Eww! Honestly though, I wrote a lengthy review on Ruchi - and now this place has become my favorite for Indian food. The service is excellent.

This is Indian restaurant is reasonably priced and consistently tasty -- two things I can't say about many Indian places in town. The place is kid friendly with several not-too-spicy items on the menu. The veggie korma is not to be missed as the is the eggplant. samosas are fab - pakora always seems a little over-cooked. Nonetheless, this has become our favorite Indian spot in town.

Pretty good Indian food, but inconsistent. We had the vegetarian dinner for two to go. The vegetable soup was creamy and delicious. The vegetable korma was a great blend of vegetables, nuts, and spices. The saag paneer and veggie pakoras, however, were not impressive. Also the gulab jamun and the rice pudding were not worth it. Try the weekday lunch buffet first and see if you like it.

i thought my last butter chicken craving was in May. it was. i cant say enough about this place. if they delivered i'd order it every weekend, as it stands they dont so i have to wrestle responsible "we have plenty of food here" Michelle into going, happily today the stick in the mud caved after a half hearted attempt of chanting butter chicken! butter chicken and its your last friday of your vacation..
yes i'm talking to myself, i am the ONLY one here minus the leprecans that make shoes while i sleep of course.
anyway India Palace is excellence, its friendly, seriously they are SO nice. the gentleman at the counter remembers me, doesnt chide me for being away and always stops to chat. they are kid friendly tonight we had quite a few of the little munchkins in, and they seriously discussed with the parents what was acceptable for children to use as a "kids" meal and what wasnt. i heard the waiter say to the point that the meal she was thinking for her child wasnt for children.. way too spicy he said.. try this one. and pointed to something else on the menu. they have a huge selection of vegetarian options ( Joi) and i've never ever ONCE had a bad dish of butter chicken here. or chicken korma. thier veggie samosas are excellents and i love love LOVE the chutneys, the kheer and the naan. its all i wanted a consistent reasonable Indian place and butter chicken leftovers to boot. all you Overland Park people give them a chance. i am i glad i listened to the other reviews and after driving hither and fro over this area found a place near my place that gave me excellent food at a great price AND it takes me less than an hour to eat. so im trying to see what would be the best indian spot for me. This place had less choices than other places. Customer service was great, the price was great but i still think they should have more choices in their food.

We've since moved away from KC, but we still remember this restaurant! Despite its size and strip mall location, the food here is excellent. I love the buffet at lunch--they keep it really fresh. And the dinner menu is great, although the portion sizes look small--beware though, they are quite filling.
I enjoy spicy food, and they definitely will make it volcanic if you ask for it... watch out! -

I love this place. Affordable and excellent lunch buffet with lots of options that change a bit from day to day. Wish I lived nearer to Lenexa - I'd probably go twice a week. Open one on 39th Street in KCMO please!!!

The buffets at this restaurant are fantastic on Sundays. I've not had it for dinner but I would say it's likely better than Rucci.

My wife, my son and I have eaten at this one and in Lawrence many times. We have usually gone for Sunday or lunch buffets. All the dishes are very good from the samosas, the rice, condiments, meats and more. My wife loves the lamb saag (lamb and spinach ) when we don't have buffet. The service is really good. Lately however I wish they would throw in something new and different .
