I'm so happy I found some excellent massage therapists in Potrero Hill.  I've had massages from both Kelly and Jen, who are both extremely effective at relieving my neck pain.  In-Symmetry's massage prices are very reasonable, cheaper than most places I've encountered in the Bay Area.  I am also impressed by their extended hours (open until 9 pm).  I called on a Friday and they got me in that weekend.  Thankfully, In-Symmetry is NOT a spa chain.

Street parking was very easy here.  This is always a bonus in San Francisco, as it's not very relaxing to stress about parking while worrying about being late for your massage.  Fortunately, I live close enough to walk, which is another reason I'll be going back again and again.

I would take the time to review the directions on their website if you are unfamiliar with this area of Potrero Hill.  It is also good to know that there is a gate you have to be buzzed through in order to get to their front door.  You can see their entrance through the gate, so you'll know when you're in the right spot.  Be ready for a friendly greeting from their lovely receptionist, and a very relaxing massage!

I had my first-ever professional massage here this week, with Donna.  I LOVED the hot rocks!!  Her fingers did something interesting to the base of my skull which felt GREAT - that muscle area has been very neglected by me until now - but I think I need that every day.  She also really worked my neck and shoulders, which are super tight and sore all the time.  The massage was so deep and strong that it almost hurt, but in a REALLY good way!  I felt relaxed all over during the massage and after.

Since I'd never had a massage, I never understood why people shell out so much money for them - now I can see why you would.  But luckily, the prices are so good at In-Symmetry that you don't have to...  they have a $55 special for an hour massage if you come in the morning, which is an amazing price considering we live in San Francisco!  I think they have other specials later in the day, too.

This place is pretty easy to find if you follow the directions I think, it's just that most people are expecting a store-front type of building.  The outside is a little deceiving, but inside the loft building is so bright and relaxing... I love it!!

Nothing like getting stoned on a Friday afternoon.

Hot stone massaged, that is.

Finally used a gift certificate I had received to Insymmetry and unfortunately cannot recollect my masseuses name..I feel like saying Heather or Rebecca?

She really worked out some gnarly things going on in my back and arms and those hot rocks just melted all the pain away.

I checked out prices on my way out and I would absolutely pay $70 to come again for a full hour!

Although no herbs were involved, I did walk out of there feeling high-ly euphoric :)

I had one of the best massages here last month. It was my first ever hot stone massage and it was fantastic. the right pressure and heat was applied throughout the session and the table and linens were perfectly comfy. the only teeny little thing i would like to change is the street noise. i could hear it from my room but i'm pretty sure it can be easily resolved by turning up the music a couple of notches. i am definitely going back. and i love their weekly specials! plus you can get a discount if you pay by cash. receptionist was extremely friendly and my masseuse was top notch.

Had a facial and wax with Devon, and everything was top notch! She did an amazing job of making a guy feel OK with getting services, and did an outstanding job from the moment I arrived. The spa is laid back and cool, yet completely professional. Everyone was awesome, and I will be returning to see Devon again real soon! Awesome job!!

I went here for the first time last week, I had made an appointment with Elizabeth, but apparently she flaked or something so I had my massage with Bekka (not sure if that's how you spell her name...)

Anyways, as you can tell from my rating, she was probably the best massage I've had in a loooong time! And so reasonable!

She started off by telling me that she used firm to strong pressure, and I told her I was a wimp. She said that it's fine she was used to figuring out people's breaking points. Umm...that scared me.

Well I was scared for no reason, the massage was firm at some points, but I felt so amazing afterwards, she has a magical touch. I'm definitely going back, soon.

Also, I recommend getting on their mailing lists because they have special offers; for instance, next week you can get a massage for $55 if you mention the special (who can complain about that?) [certain restrictions apply].

P.S. It is difficult to find, look up the directions on their website.

I came to have muscle aches relieved and that is exactly what I got, plus, I was really sleepy when I finally peeled myself off the massage table.

I needed a hot-stone, deep-tissue massage and Janella was my massuese. She has strong hands for shiatu and soothing touch for swedish.

The hot stones were a first for me. It was great that she gave me a warning right before applying the stones b/c they are extremely hot.

Location: Blink and you'll miss it. This place is hidden, but it was worth the temporary detour along eastbound 26th Street.

Ambiance: Big ceiling to floor windows overlooking industrial area and congested 101 freeway.

Suggestion: Tall sheer window coverings, and/or planters.

Great experience that I will repeat and suggest.

fantastic massage with rebecca, who has strong hands and focused on my back and neck areas where she noticed a lot of tension. the hot stones were awesome. she also stretched my hamstrings. i'd definitely recommend rebecca and will be coming back regularly!

i would clarify the pricing ahead of time if you're using a special promotion offer. we were told over the phone that if you brought a friend, we'd each save $10 but when we paid, they told us that the savings was only if you were paying in cash.

I have had a fair number of professional massages, including at the Nob Hill Spa here in San Francisco but none of them were as worthwhile as the two massages I've had at In-Symmetry and in-symmetry was significantly cheaper than the others (less than half the price of Nob Hill Spa).

The hot stones they use are fantastic and really add to the experience.  Their massage therapists are very skilled and loosen tight muscles in a way that is not just relaxing but actually therapeutic as well.

I am a long distance runner.  The day after my first in-symmetry massage I went for a run and felt looser and smoother than I have in a long time.

This place is affordable ($60 cash specials for a 60 minute hot stone massage), and the massages are fantastic.  I can't recommend it more highly.

I just had a 30-minute "Focus on That" Massage and it was fantastic.  Noel was able to find my trigger spots and really tried to work on all of my knots.  The hot stones also offer a nice touch...warmth AND pressure.  She used just the right amount of pressure and I felt so much better afterward.  Ah...

Had one massage here, which was ok, if nothing to write home about (I don't recall the therapist's name).  Because of how close they are to me and their late hours, I would have been back, based on their positive Yelp reviews.  Unfortunately, their schedule never, ever, ever matches mine, which is kind of amazing.

This does not, however, stop them from sending me constant emails about their blue light specials.  "Get a massage and facial at 9 am Tuesday, and bring a friend for $10 off!"  Er, tempting?

Body, meet Joey.  Joey, meet Body.  I'm sure you guys will get along...actually probably not as Body is tighter  than my ex-boyfriend's wallet.

Each experience at In-Symmetry is different.  I was DYING for a massage, so I called here and managed to make an appointment with Joey pretty quick.  Funny enough- I've been coming here almost since I moved to the Bay Area, and hadn't had Joey yet.  He was just what my body needed.  After my insane workout on Friday, Monday was the first day that I could tolerate touch because I was THAT sore.  Joey managed to find all those areas and work them out.  He digs deep into those trouble spots (I have many) and makes you work a little- but I got some of the best stretches I've had in a long time.

Every single time I come here, I realize I don't come often enough.

Great atmosphere, good prices (cheaper if you pay cash), not a bad location...your body deserves it.

I got stoned here yesterday and it was so what I needed!  The combination hot rock and deep tissue massage I got from Donna was one of the best I've ever had.  Superpower strength in that girl, and she 's unusually knowledgable about body mechanics, healing from injuries etc.   She took the time to find out my issues (at least of the  physical variety), and focused on them rather than giving me the standard generic massage I feel I get at most places.

Ask about their blue light specials!  They have $10 off until the 23rd right now.  Best deal in town!

Really really random location. One would never think that you could feel so great after leaving a loft in this neighborhood amidst other condo lofts.  Anyway, you approach the gates, find the little name placard that says InSymmetry, buzz, and walk in and down the steps to the reception area.  I had Katie today and it was a 60 minute massage.  I've never had deep tissue. I've gone to Burke Williams and this cottage up in Calistoga and had Swedish before. It definitely gets in there. I like how they integrate the hot stones, also something I've never had before.  Insymmetry is really a no frills place. They sell some of their skin products as well, but it's pretty much a walk in, get a massage, pay and hop back onto 101.

It's been a few hours since my massage and I definitely feel a little more relaxed and looser.

Stranger things have happened...yet getting a massage in what looked like a apartment complex was not my idea of spending the last night with the bf... yet we reluctantly walked up to the the gated unit marked 2221 ... at first i just looked over at my bf waiting for him to tell me what a horrible gf i was for taking him to something he was not up for to begin with.

Yet it was beautiful we walked into a loft A BEAUTIFUL serene loft ok first let me tell you i have a huge obsession with lofts my dream home would be a loft i love space LOTS OF SPACE! even when i lived in LA i rented a loft.

We got introduced to a really nice front desk clerk who i cant recall the name because thats how calm everyone is...

Anyhow i got joey...who is amazing... and the bf got rebecca i loved my deep tissue it was tailored for my back and my shoulder issues and rebecca was really mindful of my boyfriends knee.

We both left with smiles on our faces and that was the best feeling i could hope for knowing that it would be awhile until the bf and i would spend time together.

Thank Joey and Rebecca you two are so amazing and YES the building is the same as ten others just take your time and look for it at the bottom of the hill and across from de haro.

Got a hot-stone massage here a while back with Wendy.  It was FABULOUS.  The woman is very strong so if you are a delicate flower, you might want to make that clear to her or book a different masseuse.  She does tell you to let her know when the pain is too much.

Not for me!!  I have a lot of stress in my neck/back/shoulders from school, but Wendy was able to relieve a lot of that tension.  I could FEEL her chasing the knots up and out, which was painful but in that feel good way.

In-Symmetry is kind of out in the boonies, and if you want to use their specials, I think you have to go get cash.  And if you DON'T have cash the nearest place to get some is rather far (Dog Patch mini-mart).  Also, I circled a few times because it is fairly easy to miss, it blends in with the residential lofts.

Bottom line: Great price, great service!  The girl at the front desk is really nice too, she went out of her way to help me find both a gas station and an atm.  Definitely coming back when I can manage it.

I walked into In-Symmetry on a beautiful hot day to be greeted by their receptionist sporting a wonderful smile and a "Get Stoned" t-shirt.

It was going to be a very good afternoon.

The drive up to this place is worth it. This spa is simple, but gorgeous - striking cathedral ceilings, a lovely little lounge, well kept rooms (mine had it's own bathroom), and awesome music - my session started off with Zero 7 playing in the background.

I am extremely picky when it comes to massages. I was scarred for life after getting a full body massage in Bangalore...and they taint kidding about it being "full body". I left that place feeling extremely violated.

Anyways, I woke up in the middle of my massage (I hate it when I fall asleep) all hot and sweaty for the right reasons. In-Symmetry specializes in hot stone therapy and my goodness, Noelle knows exactly how to work those rocks into making your body feel like jell-o. [BTW- Noelle is probably one of the best masseuses I have ever had].

$110 for a 90 min massage and it's worth every penny.

This place is awesome, and the least expensive place to get a massage that I can find when you get on their e-mail list and have an hour between 9-3PM on a M-F for a savings on a massage. The best massage of my life (and I've had a lot of massages at a lot of swanky places) was given by Natalie. Don't let her tininess fool you; she is a power-house. I came in full of knots and tense, left relaxed, knot-free and ready to get back to work. Yes, the area is a little sketch, especially if you are walking the Cesar Chavez route from the Mission, but a quick drive with ample street parking can also be done. Highly recommend it.

This review is for Devon. OMG!! Devon is a Godsend!! Her facials are phenomenal! Every time I get a facial from her, I feel as if she is smoothing away the rough edges of my checks, chin, and brows.

She also very knowledgeable about different types of skins, and they would react to different treatments. She also helped control some uncontrollable breakouts that I was having.

She also gives really good hand and neck massages! I'm asleep with in minutes. Even when she does my eyebrows!! I hate maintain my brows myself, so I just see Devon. My request for my brows is to shape them in a way that doesn't make me "look angry." And every time, she gets them just how I like them.

I leave here on Cloud 9. And all my friends when they see me the next day how my skin is glowing. Thank you Devon!

I will MOST DEFINITELY be coming back for more & more & more & more..............

Forget the whole spa, steam, and sauna experience... just get a bomb-ass massage from Insymmetry!!

If you like a deep tissue massage combined with hot rocks, this is the place for you. They only offer one type of massage, but that is what they're known for, and it feels ooooh soooo goooooood. The feeling of the hot rocks after they massage you is so relaxing and makes you go "aaahhh". :-)

Almost every massage therapist here is good, and that's not normal because at other spas you'll normally only find one good masseuse. At Insymmetry, you'll be satisfied with almost any masseuse you get here.

So far, I had Joey, Sonya, Noel, Donna, and Beth.  Joey will give you a very unique type of massage that no one else gives; his style is yoga-like and he'll stretch you in unlikely places on your body but you feel a lot lose and great afterwards. Sonya is amazing too, and she'll make you wanna fall asleep. If you like it extra hard, Noel and Donna are for you. They will put all their might and muscle on you. The only person I was disappointed with was Beth. She's just not strong enough for me, but if you like it soft, she might be good for you.

All in all, you should be absolutely satisfied. And for only the price of $70, you can't beat that.

Got Joey for my massage. Told him I like deep massage & to please focus on only 1-2 areas that were giving me significant problems...he said no problem. Bad on me for not speaking up as he continued to do  his massage routine & not focus on the areas I asked him to, Bad on him for not doing what I asked him for & paid him for.  Why don't some massage therapists listen to what you ask them for?? I learned my lesson...I need to speak up next time to get a massage therapist back on track if they start doing their own routine...but I feel like I shouldn't have to do that if I ask upfront for work on specific areas.

I want to give it 5 stars, but it really depends on who you go to.  But first, let me tell you about the awesome things about the place:

- Hot stone massage!  I love it!  The therapists are trained to incorporate it into their massages, not use a special technique.

- TMJ treatments.  I'd tried everything - chiro, acupuncture, dentist, mouth gard, endless massages.  In the end, it was Corey and her terribly talented fingers that got me back to rights.  I'm telling you, its the most painful 20 seconds of your life, but it makes it all go away.

- The PRICES!!  How can you beat a kick-ass massage at $70/hour, $60 when they run mid-week specials?

- Candace is the bomb - coolest owner I've ever met.  She was the one who has helped me find the only massage therapist that I will ever go to, which is...

JOEY!!

If you like your massages deep, intuitive, and life changing, he is the one.  I have paid $$$ for massages, and its never been like this.  I literally feel like a completely different person after he works on me.  I almost always walk out feeling like I didnt get everything worked out, but not with him.  Now I have a standing monthly appointment with him... he's that good.

Its really hit or miss with the therapists.  Some are amazing; some are so-so.  But because of the other great things about this place, and the fact that it has JOEY, I give it 4 stars.  If it was just Joey, it'd be 5, hands down.

Before the holidays, I told my lovely co-worker that I was in dire need of a massage and she suggested that we go to In-Symmetry. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about the place, so I was excited to try it out. We booked appointments for their $140 hour long hot stone massage + hour long facial package. I am used to getting facials that alone cost $140, so I was really stoked to be getting both for that price.

The boutique spa is actually a converted loft townhouse, located at a fairly new complex in Portrero HIll. I had some trouble finding the place (so make sure you use your GPS or get driving directions) but once I found it, I realized I had been there before to meet with Arrowood Photography, whose studio is right next door. This might be useful info for brides or grooms to be -- get pre/post-wedding spa services after meeting with your photographer!

My fellow yelpette and I checked in with the friendly receptionist inside the sun-filled loft and we parted -- I went for my massage first while she went for her facial, and then we swapped therapists. I told my massage therapist that I wanted her to concentrate on my back and shoulders, which was extremely knotted up, and she worked her magic fingers for the next hour. She incorporated hot stones into the massage, which worked wonders on my tense body.

After the hour was over, I put on a robe and headed to the facial treatment room, where my fellow yelpette had just come out with her skin glowing. We were both super relaxed and happy with our first service. I went in for my facial with Cynthia, who customized the facial to my skin type. The facial also included hot and cold stone therapy, and a face, neck and shoulder massage. Cynthia explained each step in the facial as she was applying it, which was helpful (she asked if I would like that, or preferred no explanation). She noticed some congested pores particularly around my nose and suggested that I change my face cleanser. So after the facial, she recommended that I try their pore clearing cleanser. I got a bottle, and I love it. I have been using it for the past 3 weeks and have noticed a wonderful change to my skin. It has really done wonders for my complexion!

I am definitely returning for monthly facials and massages - if you don't live in SF, it's totally worth the drive. They also offer 1-2 day "Blue Light Specials" where they give $20 off their treatments, so make sure you get on their mailing list to be informed about them -- it's usually for that day they send out the email. The monthly facials are necessary for keeping all of you guessing my age (why, I'm 21, of course! heehee) and the massages are necessary for keeping me from complaining that my body hurts (clever website name)!

Wow.  What else can I say?  Candace met us at the the desk and got us comfortable with water and cushy sofas to relax on while we filled out our paperwork.

My wife and I both got deep tissue massages and anti-gravity facials.  It was quite an experience.

Both were exquisite and we highly recommend doing two as a package option ($140).

When we left the place and got in to the car we sat there for 10 minutes talking about how great the experience was.  We didn't know what to do we were so high on natural good vibes/feelings.

We will definitely be back in the future!

My new favorite place in SF for massage.  I've been twice and really enjoyed it each time, especially the time with the rocks.
Keep in mind that on those few really hot sunny days they won't use rocks as it gets too hot in the spa (no a/c).  It was warm on my second visit, but not too hot, so I decided to try a massage sans rocks.  Not bad.
The location/decor is a bit funky, but the price is right.  They offer quality yet cost much less than other places, so not a bad trade off.

After reading a talk thread post that Karen K. had written awhile back, about the wonders that Corey can do with skin, I knew I had to make an appointment (for those who have not seen Karen K's skin before....it's beautiful) at In-Symmetry.

The moment I walked into In-Symmetry I knew that my experience would be nothing short of pure bliss. The interior is well lit and fresh. There are two cats that lounge around. One (the big orange tabby) contently, the other one (calico) unimpressed that you're disrupting quality time with her owner. It's basically a  more organized, more zen, and brighter version of home (well maybe not my home....but a home I'd happily occupy anytime....)

I loved it.

Corey was very friendly and introduced herself. She already had a glass of water  waiting for me. It was apparent in our brief introduction that Corey had a natural way with people. I knew that for the next hour and a bit  - it was all going to be about me. Me. Me. Me. Me. (A little "Me" should be prescribed regularly.  High dosages are encouraged by loved ones)

She led me into the esthetician room and gave me some brief instructions, before letting me crawl into the warmed soft blankets of her "magic" table. The rest of  the experience........was.....well.....amazing.  It was far more than just a slew of face products. It was indulgence. Pure heavenly indulgence. A big ole bucket of "Me-ness"

Corey is a facial master. She knows how to plump skin, make it glow, and puts nothing but natural products on it. Instead of using hyper-complicated and somewhat skin risky procedures like micro-debrasian and the like - she nurtures the skin and believes in lavishing it with attention. She massages it with moisture  (a great special line)- lots and LOTS of MOISTURE; rather than stripping it away from the skin.

After my amazing skin pampering experience, I felt incredible. My shoulders were loose and you could practically see yourself in my skin - it was so radiant. I waited in the main lobby area, while Corey helped me call a cab, and even recommended a great acupuncturist. (Quick and INDULGENT tangent - Acupuncture is a great way to break-down the toxins which build up in your system. These icky toxins are often a contributing factor of break-outs and skin ailments. Cleansing your body from the outside AND inside is definitely something to look into, if you've been having skin problems.)

I hurried out to the waiting cab. The moment I stepped inside,  the driver spun around quickly, unprompted, and exclaimed with wide eyes: "Wow - your skin.....it looks awesome!."

It felt like a cheesy commercial, and I could hear annoying ad jingles in my head,  -but I couldn't resist saying

"Nope.... Corey's awesome."

OK, so I'm not that difficult to please...  slather me up, rub me down, and I'll purr like a kitty.  But to make me melt like buttah on a summer day?  That takes a little more skill.

Noel did everything right.  She pretended not to notice my cold, moved me around gently, and had a firm touch and nice hot rocks (and she knew how to use 'em).  I was blissed out when I left and still am today.  If I can find the place again, I'll be back.

ahhhh.. In-Symmetry...
I first heard about In-Symmetry when I recieved a gift certificate from my sister for my birthday. I wasn't expecting to walk into a SF hidden Jewl! Everything about this place rocks... litterly... haha. They use these hot stones in the massage that made my muscles do a little dance! I go at least 2 times a month.. the price is right on the money. You can't get a better massage for $60 anywhere..
I have had one facial there.. one amazing facial. They use the stones it that too. I have never seen my skin so glowie! (I think I just made up that word) haha.
Oh yea, and they have the most adorable kitties that hang out in the space. :) major plus for me!
I love In-Symmetry. LOVE IT!!!

Checked out this place on a Sunday when my regular masseuse Linda was off.

Good value, especially with hot stone.

Still, this is more like a spa massage where it is to relax and not to work out true tension spots.  Also, there seems to be a disparity in the skill level of the staff, so do compare.

I definitely appreciate the availability for the cost, but I am sticking to my regular masseuse.

There are hot rocks in heaven. Seriously.   Oh Candace, take me away!  Ask for her.
The location is cozy, comfy and pretty zen.  Everyone speaks in hushed tones and yes, you're allowed to pet the cats, if they let you.

I went to In Symmetry for a massage a few weeks ago.  If you're looking for real deep tissue, leaning toward sports massage, this isn't the place, but for a nice relaxing hour of "ahhh" it's perfect.  The hot rocks are a warm and fuzzy twist.

Having enjoyed my massage experience, I decided to book a facial at In Symmetry.  I read the raves about Corey, but couldn't get an appointment with her, so I set something up with another esthetician who works here.  Though it was relaxing, I left with shiny, red skin that broke out later that afternoon.  I've had facials before and not had any similar reaction, so I was surprised.

I would recommend In Symmetry for a relaxing massage because the atmosphere is inviting and the people are friendly.

Update: Candace from In Symmetry called me, after seeing my review, to find out more about my experience, saying that they strive for excellent customer service.  I was really happy to hear from her, and have gone from three stars to four.  Like I said, very nice people.

Excellent hot stone massage for a very reasonable price.

A friend of mine recommended this place to me -- I was skeptical at first because I had never seen it advertised anywhere or heard about it even though I'm right in the neighborhood (Potrero).

It's a cute multi-level loft with a quiet massage room.  My massage therapist was amazing -- sorry, I don't remember the name, but I am sure they are all good.

I've gotten hot stone massages before at spas in NY and Arizona, and thought NY had the best.  But I might have to reconsider and choose In-Symmetry as having the best...why?  My massage therapist not only used the hot stones but also used her hands to massage my knots away.  Most places only use the stones and sometimes they use too little or too much pressure because they can't feel what they are doing.  The combination of the stones and hands definitely compliment each other.

An added plus: I had so much energy after the massage -- this rarely happens!

The great thing about this place is that it is clean, and the massages are inexpensive.  They also scheduled me in the next day, which I thought was nice.

I wasn't that impressed with the massage itself though.  I had a massage with a woman who is not listed on the web... maybe she's in training?  Anyways, she totally concentrated on my shoulders and neck during the massage... after I told her in that my main concern was lower back pain.  Also, she didn't use the stones very much.

I've only been with this one massage therapist, and I plan to go back to see other therapists there, so I'll give 4 stars for now.

If you go, ask for the ones listed on their website (or the ones people recommend below).

A bit of the beaten path but you'll be soooo happy when you go. They integrate hot stones into all their massages which feels like all your knots are just melting away, like butter. I highly recommend Jen. She's got a unique style and really addresses my individual problems. I always feel like she's dreamed up a massage specifically for me. Joey is great too, if you like it REEEEAAALLY deep. Plus, they run specials all the time, so you can't beat the price.

This place is amazing - and not just because of the price. I've paid a lot more for a massage and yet this place is the consistent winner. Rhea was amazing - lots of pressure and good distribution all over my body.  Don't let her petite frame fool you.

I only had 1 hot stone massage before Insymmetry - at an Aveda spa, but it's a lot better here bc there is a lot of actual massage - not just rubbing some hot rocks around your back. So if you think you tried this before, give it another go. Or treat someone you know! A last plus is that every single person that works here seems to be SO nice. I love this place.

If you get on their email list, you get their monthly specials - can't be beat. I'm going to try the facial sometime soon!
