Mindy, the owner and all the staff are super friendly and all of them are very professional. My favorite nail tech here is Henry, he is SO DETAIL ORIENTED! my Gel nails look perfect always thanks to his patient work.
I also got a facial done here by Mindy, she did a great job and gave me so many samples so I could continue taking care of my skin at home.
Great deals for mani+pedi combos.
Es un lugar muy limpio, bien ordenado, el staff es respetuoso, amable y super profesionales. Mindy es la dueña y su trabajo es excelente.
Mi tecnico favorito es Henry, realiza mis uñas de gel mejor que nadie, es muy detallista y trabaja rapido.
Tambien realizan faciales, y tienen excelentes ofertas para combos de mani y pedi. -

O_O *Panic sets in as the realization that New Years was inching ever so closely*
I bust out the Yelp app on my phone and the first place that pops up is In Style Nails. I scan the reviews, make the executive decision to do the "walk in" praying they would take us. We arrive with 2 young children, a very particular sister, myself, and my mom who has one of her hands wrapped and in a sling.
All of a sudden a pit crew of nail techs came out of the woodwork. They were like lil' ninjas... their movements were a blur. Before I could even request a pedicure I was seated in a heated massage chair with my feet in the spa tub.
As the excitement settled, I heard the coos (baby babble/toddler chitchat) of my hellions. As I tried to quiet their excessive prattle I was assured by Henry that it was totally fine and how they are welcome to be children in their fine establishment. A relief washed over me and I could sit back and enjoy my beautifying experience.
Needless to say my session was enjoyable, pain free, and soothing. My acrylics came out perfectly and my pedicure was equally amazing.
Henry was tentative, gentle, and professional while also being friendly. I really couldn't of asked for a better experience and will definitely be back there!
They had NO problem catering to my moms needs with a wrapped hand. She was also VERY happy with her visit. My very picky sister left a smile on her face and an appointment booked.
I will SO be back to In Style Nails! And there's no need to go out of my way for this place due to the convenient location. -

Being of Vietnamese descent I know a thing or two about pho, casinos, car insurance, mathematics, and nail salons! In Style Nails and the creme de la creme of nail salons.
I've been to dozens, so many I cannot even recall. This place has them beat by a landslide. The staff is attentive, they listen to what you want, and they have a guarantee on all of their work. Not one other place I've gone to has ever guaranteed their work.
Also, it's not like a damn sewing circle in there where they sit and speak in Vietnamese, probably about you, with one another. Maybe they don't do that while I'm there because I can understand them ;) White girls, enter at your own risk.
Let's start with my nails. I get an acrylic base with a coat of gel. They only use high-end, brand name products. I never see those annoying little bubbles like I would at other places. I kid you not, I can go almost three weeks without there being any kind of lifting. Although it is rare I wait that long, sometimes I get busy, and I'd like to think when that happens, my shit will still look legit.
Another plus is that they do them suuuuper thin. It doesn't look like you're rockin' some old school Christmas light bulbs on your finger nails. Yuck. They also do colored gels and pink and whites, though I cannot speak for those because I haven't received those specific services.
Spa Pedicure... Ahh, an orgasm in a tub. I've gone to places and left looking like I was a foot stand-in for Frotto in the Lord of the Rings. Not at In Style. They meticulously cut down the dead skin, shape your toe nails perfectly. They use only OPI polish and their selection is out of control. The massage they give you isn't some BS rub down. They spend at least 15 minutes on each leg, and then they wrap it in a steamy hot towel.
The cleanliness there is top notch. Before my spa pedicures they always put in newly cleaned filters, and after my pedicure they always rinse it out with the blue solution (Barbisol) and also wipe it down with an anti-bacterial as an extra safety net.
My daughter Kiley is five and she comes here to have mommy and me mani/pedi dates with me. This is what she has to say:
i like it so much. they are nics and my nayls are pridee. i like to go thar. love kiley.
Those are her own words. She absolutely adores this place and they put the cutest designs on her. From flowers, to polka dots, and diamonds.
So there you have it. My daughter and I are hard little princesses to please. Even though it may be a touch more expensive than other places in San Diego, the quality is worth more than what you're paying. I get compliments on my nails from other Vietnamese girls (that's saying something) and even men notice how nice they look.
Side note: You can go to Chiba Sushi, or Mr. Burrito and grab a bite or head on over to McGregor's and grab a pint. All pluses in my book. If my daughter had a fake ID we'd be hittin' up McGregor's for some Happy Hour for sure!

This establishment is AMAZING! I have been to a ton of different nail salons and this one by far is the best!!! You get to sit in the big comfy chair for your Pedi AND Mani!!! I was very relaxed the entire time! The staff was super and very nice! I will def go back and recommend others!!!

I'm giving them 5-stars only for service received for eyebrow waxing..
Just wanted to let some of you know, my experience in this location.
Walked-in and Mindy approched me immediately. I told her I needed to get my eyebrows waxed and what was the charge. She said it would be $10 and to follow her to the back room...
Mindy was awesome, she did a great job!! I will be coming back while in San Diego.
Location was clean and Im glad I walked in after tanning next door.

after going straight foxy brown on about 3498472983 nail techs in my life i have finally found a salon i love. the staff is amazing they speak and understand English well , willing to do what you ask and they dont try and sell you a bunch of crap you dont want ! Mindy did my nails today in a lil under a hour and never once did she try to sell me a stupid flower or make fun of my choice of non girly color . this place also offers full service waxing , the salon is very clean and really nice as far as nail shops go! i will be returning ...... thanks

I scheduled a mani/pedi treatment for four girls before our friends wedding. They were able to accomodate all of us together and we had a great time hanging out while being pampered before the big day. -

Unbelievable! I came here to get a set of acrylic nails and paid $27 before the tip in order to get french manicure. They wanted to charge ANOTHER $5 for gel.
This is not my complaint. There are much more expensive places out there.
A week and a half later the nails start coming off at the base of my natural nails. I go back to ask them to remove them. I got into a dispute with the man working about trying to convince me to get a fill and they would only charge me half price to fill them. Half price for a fill?? It had only been ten days, I shouldn't need a fill yet, and you want TO CHARGE ME TO FIX YOUR MISTAKE???!!!
I was furious. Then he proceeds to tell me he could fix them for the half price fill AND if I didn't like it, I could come back and they would take them off for free. I almost said yes (reluctantly) because I knew taking them off would leave my natural nails a little damaged, but then he said he could not charge my card for less than ten dollars.
So let me understand.....you want to charge me for something that shouldn't have happened, you won't take my card, and you want to argue with me for 10 minutes about it? Okay, got it.
He was rough with me taking the nails off and used a file that was so course that all of my natural nails have split at the sides and almost every one of them looks horrible.
Could've used a regular file, could've been a little more accomodating, could've fixed them for free, could've just apologized and been nice about it. I live right next to this place.
I would rather drive across town that EVER go back to this shop again. -

I agree with all the previous reviews in that this facility is clean and friendly, however I have to disagree on the quality of work.
I came in today for a manicure and pedicure. I opted out of the pedicure because I was wearing skinny jeans that wouldn't roll up for the foot spa.
I'm glad that I ended up only getting one service because I left very unsatisfied. I had an Opi Gel Manicure and it is bumpy, uneven, has bubbles in it and isn't shiny. The gel isn't applied all the way to my cuticles and the edges of my nail also aren't done. I usually get a line in my manicure and I didn't even get a chance to ask for this detail before the sealant was applied and it was too late to add anything.
The price was equal to that of a quality salon, but is not worth it. I paid $33 for something that I am SO upset with that I am going somewhere else tomorrow to get it all taken off and redone!!!

I was talking to Henry about being Vietnamese-American and asked him where throughout the county his family lives. He listed a various states on the East and West Coasts and I followed up by asking if he had any family in Virginia. I am from DC and I know that there is a big Vietnamese community in Falls Church, VA. He said that his family doesn't live there because there are a lot of *makes a sour face* black people. My boyfriend is black.. Needless to say, I was offended, disturbed and ready to go. This manicure could not end fast enough. -

I have gone to 6-7 nail salons since moving to San Diego a few years ago, gave up for awhile, then finally found In Style Nails!
I had on some awful, cheap acrylics from another salon and I just wanted them off!! I went in on a friday, late afternoon, and was seated pretty quickly. Mindy set me up with a magazine and had me soak my nails to take off the ugly acrylics as she finished with her current customer.
A few minutes later she began to work her magic. She painlessly removed the old acrylics, and put a new set on. The new set is thin, durable, and are easy to type, take out and put in contacts, text.. ect. Then she finished with a fabulous summery pink!!
I will be back, and am confident this will be my regular nail go to place!!
Price was a little more than I am used to, but I would rather cough up a few extra bucks and get exactly what I want!! Parking is decent, there is a lot, just gotta find a spot!! -

Great prices, super friendly, and great service! I was in SD visiting my BF for the weekend, and was in definite need of a mani/pedi. I yelped this place out, and the reviews definitely gave me more assurance. I live in LA, and have my nail spot, but as often as I'm in SD now, I was in need of a nail spot! This place happens to be within walking distance of my BF's condo, so it doesn't get anymore convenient than that. This place is DEFINITELY my nail spot in SD! Everyone who worked there was so friendly, from the minute I walked through the door.
Service is definitely great, and they spent so much time massaging my hands and feet. Most places give you a half-decent rub and start painting. I also loved how meticulous they were with polishing. There wasn't a spot of polish around my cuticles, or fingers. Overall it was a great experience, and I will definitely be back! -

Another visit to my new nail shop thought it was worth posting......again great staff, friendly, polite, you get what you pay for very reasonably priced, and yes I am so happy with the service. They do waxing too! Keep up the great work girls!

I think I finally found my SD nail spot! After a year of searching and a really really bad gel nail experience at another place I finally decided to try In Style on the way to a class in the area. Mindy did a gel manicure for me and I couldn't be more thrilled. She helped me pick the perfect color and did a flawless job. Also, she has a technique for soaking off gel nails that is 20x better and more enjoyable than soaking your hands in the stinky acetone bowl. Give this place a try, they're great at what they do, very friendly, and the place is very clean!

I absolutely love In Style Nails. I have now been here 3 times and the pedicures are great! It is about $21 and the polish lasts for weeks! The massage is great, the place is clean, the people are nice!
Parking can be a bit cramped sometimes, but overall I will be going to this places so long as I love in the area. Definitely the best in Mission Valley. I am never rushed here! -

I have been going to In Style Nails for 5 years. This is the only place I will get my nails done. Not only are they friendly, and personable but they do a great job.
They know all of their customers by name and treat everyone like they belong. Their salon is a professional establishment with excellent customer service.

I just went to the salon today and loved the service.
I chose this menu that includes pedi and mani with massage with mask etc. + design on toes ($65+tip). Mindy was the techinician who did my pedi and Dau (?) did my mani. I have been to many others and although my favorite nail salon is still in Carlsbad, since I live near the Q, I will be going there regularly going forward:) My complain though was the parking situation.. Wish more parking is available.. oh.. and they charge $0.75 for credit card transaction.. to me that's an eh.. -

The pedicures here are amazing. Anna just gave me the best calf and foot massage I've ever had. I will definitely be back. My acrylics are so so. I should have just opted for a manicure, because I doubt I'll keep up the maintenance. But the pedicure was a real treat. The staff is friendly, I had no wait time, and the shop is clean.

was really hoping this place would be decent because it's right around the corner from the bf's place and we are always in the area -- whether eating in this strip mall complex (mcgregor, kati's, and mr. burro's!) or walking the dog...i've digressed, but yes, it was better than decent! yay!
anyway, service is good, area is clean, and the overall experience was great! with the basic pedi at $21 the price is right and i would definetely recommend it to anyone in the area (or even if not!)

I went there today with my husband. We both got pedicures and i got my nails done and he got his eyebrows waxed. This is the first time Ive been there and i was pleasantly surprised.
The place is very clean. Henry did my Mani/Pedi and he did a great job. I will diffidently be coming back. :)
Oh and they take credit cards but would rather take cash or a check. -

This place is great! I have never had a horrible experience here and have always been very happy with both my mani's and pedi's. I don't get acrylics so I cannot speak for the quality of that work, but as I said, my mani's and pedi's have always looked great. I don't get my nails done very often but I was pleasantly surprised when they actually remembered who I was and I had only been in there once or twice before. I'm one of those weird people who don't like a really hard leg massage and Henry actually remember this so he was very gently when doing my pedi. Another testament to how good this place is - I actually live in Hillcrest and drive out here to get my nails done because they are so good.

Very friendly people! I had never had a Pedicure before. I always gave them to myself, but this place was right by my other stop of the day so I was like-eh-what the hay?
I was greeted upon steppping in. And I was whisked away to a nice plush comfy chair and clean foot bath. The chair was one of those message chairs. So while my feetsies were being messaged so was the rest of me. I took a look at on of their menus and realized they had full service message, waxing, beauty packages, facials, everything you name it. My pedi guy was really friendly and gave me a little extra care with the calves when I told him that's my favorite thing to be messaged. Thanks again, buddy.
The prices are pretty reasonable, a pedi was 21 bucks.But they have packages as low as $33 called a European Spa pedicure. It includes, a pedicure(of course), foot scrub, mask, 10 minute message, and a free design on your toes. There's others that sound incredible. But the most expensive is 125 bucks.
But the service is what made this worth it. I'm going back to get my calves messaged every week! -

My nails I fixed myself when I got home. I was rushed. Had no top coat put on. Had to ask for a second coat of nail polish for my nails. Ugh. Won't be back for nails....

So I'm reading pretty good reviews on "IN STYLE NAILS" but for me, if you call FAT ACRYLICS "in style" then DAMN, I do not want to be "in style!"
I went in for a full set and came out with a fat set. My nails did not look natural what-so-ever!! Only lasted about 2 weeks, when they should be up to 3 weeks then due for a fill. I did not even fill them, I took them off!
Maybe this is just a place for PEDI's??

I went back today for a spa pedicure with 2 of my friends. And the guy, Henry did a very good job and my massage lasted a lot longer than both of my friends. One of the ladies was trying to multitask while doing my friend's massage. They got horrible scrubs from the ladies. So I really recommend getting it done by the guy b/c he's also trainng for massages. And yes, this place is better with pedis. =)

WOW !!! First I wouldlike to say this place is VERY CLEAN, VERY FRIENDLY, and they all know and understand English perfect.
They listened to me , understood what I was wanting and made sure to give me everything I wanted.
I have been to a million places and this is by far the best place HANDS DOWN!!! I'm a makeup artist in San Diego and I always want to make sure my hands look nice . I had gels put on my nails tonight they are sooooooo cute and perfect. The chairs are very cozy and the prices are very affordable. They take their time and really care about making everyone feel good and look good.
I will be back and honestly I wont go anywhere else unless hell freezes over. IF YOU ARE A STICKLER ABOUT NAIL PLACES LIKE ME YOU WILL LOOOOOOOOOVE THIS PLACE!!!! TRUST ME GO AND YOU WILL BE THEIR # 1 fan . -

5 stars for cleanliness, attentiveness, an amazing foot massage with the spa pedicure, and top quality manicures. The prices are not bad at all either.
The last time I got a manicure here -- just nail polish -- no acrylics or french tip or anything, it lasted nearly THREE WEEKS before chipping! I touched it up by putting a clear coat on every few days or so, but that is still pretty much unheard of -- three weeks!
There is a GUY who works here, and i was at first weary of having him do my toes, but he did the most amazing job, and spent forever on the foot massage. The chairs are big and comfortable, and they insist that you stay while your nails dry...I've never been rushed out or hurried in any way. Very relaxing.
Also, one time i went in for just a manicure because i hadn't shaved my legs in like a week...the girl at the front just giggled and said "oh, who cares, it's all girls today!" She convinced me...I felt a little self conscious, but it was worth it. :) -

Yes, Mindy and gang have saved my life many times over. They do a great job at mani's, pedi's and waxing! Huge plus that once I plop down in their wonderful massage chairs, they immediately bring me the newest People magazine to read.

After going to several nail salons and got completely shafted on the nails I got, I finally find InStyle Nails via the recommendations from Yelppers. I have been here a total of 5 times now and I have to wholehearted agree that is place is THE place to get your nails done, whether you are looking for a simple mani/pedi or to get a well done, long lasting, downright beautiful set of artificial nails.
I highly, and I mean HIGHLY, recommend booking with Huy (or Henry as he goes by with many of his clients). This guys does the best job on my hands. Mindy, the other manicurist, is good but Huy is by far better. He pays amazing amounts of attention to detail, will always do what you want with your nails, and always guarantees his work (he will tell you that if you have a problem with your nails, go back to him to fix it for free.) He can be chatty at times or very quite (as he is with me because he knows that I am not a talker), super friendly and will know your name by the second visit. Every set of nails that I have gotten him to have lasted 2 weeks before even one of them ever lifts.
The spa pedicures are amazing. I always end up going on a Friday night after work and the big comfy massage chairs alone are relaxing. But add in the foot work, I just downright melt into a pile of bliss. My nails end up well trimmed without any nicks or cuts, soft from being well scrubbed, and really relaxed after a great massage. Brought a guy friend in just to show him how awesome it is and he fell asleep through it!
The place itself is always clean, well ventilated (none of that stinging chemical smell), filled with friendly staff, and the prices are comparable considering the detail of the work that you will receive.
I highly recommend this place! -

So after reading Yelp comments, I decided to see if they were worth all the "5 stars"...
I made sure to call ahead to get "henry" [which was no problem, they'd see me in an hour]...and to my surprise HENRY WAS NOT THERE when i showed up! The lady who answered the phone said she didn't realize the appt was person-specific. LOVELY!!! I decided to get them done anyways (i had driven from dowtown thru rushhour), Mindy handled my full set (gel, french round tip) while someone else did my pedi.
Mindy assured me they all had different techniques but that, she was just as qualified as Henry. AND SHE WAS (i think)! I have never been so please! So good, my friends cant even tell they're fake! haha! and my pedi was extremely relaxing. and came out great!

Sadly, I must re-review and take a star away from In Style Nails. I had a great first experience, as it is clean, comfortable and professional, with relatively new gossip magazines to read! The pedicure is amazing...great massage, comfortable chair and polish, as well as rhinestones that last at least a couple weeks. Unfortunately, the acrylics are not so great. They looked great at first, but what I thought was just some dry edges turned quickly into early lifting. All of my nails had lifted a great deal by 2 weeks, and one popped off less than two weeks later. I know two weeks is the recommended time for a fill, but I often am able to go three. Even so, a nail shouldn't pop off.
So, I gave them a second try because I liked the place....same experience ...right around the 2-week mark I lost a nail in the meeting room at work. I grabbed a pad of paper and my nail popped right off. The rest were terribly lifted. They had started lifting a few days after my fill.
I recommend coming her for pedis, and possibly manicures....but for acrylics...I would recommend going somewhere else.Listed in: Gettin' All Dolled UP...

I like this place....the staff is very friendly and the pedis always look great. When my sister visits from San Francisco we always make an appointment to get pedis from Mindy. I have been seeing Mindy for about 6 months now. The place is very clean, it is centrally located and I wouldn't go anywhere else....

I love In Style Nails. Have had pedicures by Mindy and Henry, and I always leave mesemerized by how shiny and nice my toes look. :) And their pedicures hold up well! Their spa pedicure packages are very reasonable, and I've brought in several friends with me who have also had excellent results. Try to avoid weekends, as the parking is not that great here. If you go on a weeknight, you'll be in and out, no problem.

I live across the street and lucky for me this place is great! Henry, Lucy, Amy and Mindy and all great! I have natural nails and have never had a bad experience here. Both manicures and pedicures are great and reasonably priced. Everyone should try them out!

After reading ALL the reviews on yelp, I decided to try this place. And boy I am so HAPPY I DID!! I have been insearch for a perfect nail salon. And I found it. Clean, beautiful inside & relaxing!! I love this place they are so kind & attentive to detail. Henry is so meticoulous with is work & detail... Very nice pedicure I got from Nya I literally could have fallen asleep. SOOOOO RELAXING.. Mend did an awesome job on my eyebrows!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Trust all these yelpers!..:)

I've been searching for a new nail salon close to my house, and drove past this one and decided to stop. $32 for a mani/pedi is a decent price, but I'd like to pay a little less. I do have to say though, they ear 5 stars due to the cleanliness (in fact, they could earn 5 stars just for how clean it was), they use fresh bottles of OPI, and my nails look great. It won't be a weekly trip, but every month or so I'll be treating myself.

I don't know why I waste my time going in there. The prices are so pricey! Owner is rude. I feel really uncomfortable walking in since she does a double take and watches every move I make! I've bought a couple things here and there. For a salon not very welcoming.
