In-Shape Family Fitness

Wasn't sure what to expect from this location. I'm not very familiar with what each level stands for but all I know is this is a Gold Level gym.

Much like the other In-Shapes in town, the entrance is open and you are greeted by a nice person who scans your pass. There is a juice bar right behind the main desk just like at the coffee location. There is seating in the middle of the building where you can chat and relax. It is a two story location, like the others, where the 2nd floor has TRX, the 29 minute circuit, and I guess a women's section.

There was a section that I had never seen in other In-Shapes. There was an area that had measurements on the wall to see how high you can throw a medicine ball, the "ladder" drawn on the floor, and some other things. I really enjoyed this section, just wish I used it more. The janitorial staff does a great job of keeping everything sanitary. I just wish they changed the wiping cloth out more often. As I was leaving I noticed there was a VIP section area. I assume that's where they do their tanning and things. Not exactly sure.

Only reason I came to this location was because my sister has training here. Since it's far from where I live I probably won't be coming to this location often, though it is a nice location.

Parking at this Inshape can be a pain depending on when you come.
The times I've gone to the sauna, it's always packed.
The staff when you enter are always very courteous and with a smile. My daughter attends the kid zone, and I gotta shout out, Jamie. She is awesome in every way. I keep my Inshape membership for the classes. Zumba is always awesome! Bodypump and Ripped are classes you will NOT regret going to. And a new favorite of mine, Step & Strength.

Over charging and not even delivering... I use to love it here but now they never have any dumbbells on the racks they're mostly all missing even when you go looking they're just non existent! I look and look and seems like they're no where to be found. Sauna is always out of service and the showers are so outdated. Sad but I'm looking into other gyms now
I do love that they have lots of squat racks tho and the deadlift areas.

This gym is very large! The equipment is well lai d out. Even during peak times you don't have to wait for machines like elliptical or treadmill. I really appreciate all the sanitizer bottles and wipes that are sprinkled throughout. I've only done one class there but it was great. The only thing I wish was that there were more free weights, that you will have to wait for. They keep the place very clean. I love coming to this gym.

This place is a joke and the equipment doesn't work half the time the steam room works about once every six months the sauna is packed with people constantly the pool is OK and the Jacuzzi but the management is a joke. I take it that the general manager is a guy named Valentino and you ask why is this not working? Why is that not working and all they do is dance around the answers. Save your money and go anywhere, but in shape.

This review isn't so much about the gym but it is about the people that go to the classes. I got to Zumba 15 minutes early because I have really poor vision and if I'm not towards the front I can't see what's going on and I don't want my glasses at Zumba. Class starts at 8:30 and by 815 I'm already getting people telling me where I can and cannot stand at in the class. People think they own the floor because they were in that spot yesterday. I'm getting ugly remarks I'm getting yelled out from across the room and I'm getting accused of stealing somebody's fan which I don't stand under the fan because I hate the fan on me while I'm working out. I was 6 foot away from everybody and still some old blonde lady tried to tell me what to do. 30 minutes into the class a woman came over to stand under the fan for a second and she had to apologize to her because she said it was "her air". What in the hell kinds of mental patients come here??? The photo that I have shows my black water bottle on the ground where I intended to stand/dance. The woman standing there was the one that had a huge problem with my existence. Now I know people have a problem with "new students" nobody likes to share anything. And they like to make new people feel inferior. But I'm not new I just don't go to this gym often. And in fact I used to work for this company so when I go to the other locations people are nice. I'm not easily bullied so I stood my ground. But this doesn't look good for any other new students that may come to the class in the future because this is how they will be treated. I feel like in shape should make people review their memberships. Then again, adults shouldn't act like kids throwing tantrums.

Pros: large gym facility with many different options for work out.
Cons: DIRTY GUNKY floor in the sauna..That thing needs a good scrubbing. It's so disgusting, I only come to this location with my neighbor to work out with her, the last two times have been such a disappointment. Some of the machines are wobbly and not worth using, there are hardly any disinfectant sprays in the weight area to clean the machine after use and the only cleaning towel is drenched so much so I know its been the only one used for only God knows how long.

There is absolutely no excuse for the condition this place is left in. GET IT TOGETHER!!

Facility and equipment is fair & usually operating. The gym environment is a mixed bag of high school kids and wannabe body builders. No community or friendliness. Bakersfield gyms are disappointing.

Pretty weak gym Very crowded even at non expected times Lots of Natty's Not very motivating Not much of a difference between here and planet fitness.

I like this gym! They have a lot of locations and I really dig the group fitness classes! But I really wish they had more classes at a better variety at times! I would like to see more classes that start at 6. Also more weekend classes. They only really have morning classes on the weekends, including Fridays! So more classes at more times please

Highly disappointed in the approach this company has taken with its billing. Haven't attended the gym in over 8 months , yet will be charged an annual service fee. For what? I contact customer service over an hour wait or no ability to speak with anyone. Go into gym to cancel membership and am told I will be charged the remaining monthly dues. I just want to close my membership and shouldn't have to battle to maintain my safety due to Covid-19 , I am being charged a fee, which isn't ethical business practice.
