The Improv is one of my favorite places. The food is ok, drinks are good, but you go for the comedy which is always satisfactory. It's in the same building as Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, so venturing to both places will make for a good night! Buy your tickets online for guaranteed/best seating.
Oh and the late shows tend to be the most entertaining and run longer.
I'm mixed. Went to see Paul Money. It was great. However the seating is horrible. You will sit in chairs that are old and at a crappy table with no elbow room. They bring the watered down drinks out fast but the waiters touch the rim of the glasses. I found that nasty. There is great view and sound from all over. The place is like a can if sardines getting in and leaving as it is next to another club. The comedy is great but the venue sucks.
We ventured out to see Pablo Fransisco a couple weeks ago for our second evening at Improvisations Comedy Club...much more famously known as "The Improv". The first show we saw at The Improv was hilarious. This one was okay...but it just depends on who is performing that night. The food is subpar and the drinks are a little pricey. However, they keep them coming throughout the show.
I find the Improv to be a great way to kick off or spend a Fri or Sat evening. It is pretty cheap entertainment at $22 bucks a person (plus food and drinks, if you choose). The venue and arrangement of the seats is a bit cramped and not all that impressive but it is easy to see and hear the comics. I highly recommend the Improv, but note that most comedians are very dirty, so you may want to hold off for a first date or an evening out with grandma.
The comics were funny, especially the headliner Justin.
BUT
#1) Improv bartenders need to get a clue... the *ART* of Bartending means that you don't taste the alcohol and know don't know you are getting wasted... until about 45 minutes later and you are falling down the stairs to leave. Bars & Restaurants need to get a clue... you will sell more this way too !!! I want to taste the entire balanced drink... if I wanted straight alcohol, I'd buy a bottle of rubbing alcohol at CVS. I would be more than happy to pay for 3 well balanced drinks than to pay for one and have to send it back and say... pour this into 3 glasses and dilute it. And, I will do that!
#2) Addison (as a whole) need to get with the times and tell people to leave their white CANCER STICKS in the parking lot (at least 500 feet from the front door).
Other than those two points, my first visit to the Improv was a success.
fun fun
